Worst gym I’ve ever been to. I don’t like leaving reviews for gyms because there MS many different factors in having a good gym experience. But this gym here just plain sucks. The stairmaster machine has been broken for over a year easily. The pic of the floor is where the leg curl machine that was broken was at. Instead of getting it fixed they just completely removed it and haven’t replaced it with anything. It’s been like that for at least 3 months. Then if one machine isn’t broken it’s another one that is. HORRIBLE GYM.

Every single piece of equipment in this gym is either broken, mismatched, or put together unevenly and wrong. Their choice of gym equipment is garbage and extremely outdated. The weight stacks on everything are too light. Overall a horrible place to be, and thats not including the old people eating/sleeping on machines and high schoolers.

EDIT: ever since i posted this review, apparently the gym has only gotten worse. Aside from kicking out people “training” their friends (we’ve all seen the viral video), they just implemented a “NO BACKPACK RULE” which also relies on an honor system at the front desk. This comes from my brother, who says also got charged $50 for the month when his membership is $35. I have no idea how this management does it, but they have got to be some of the lowest iq individuals I’ve ever seen be put to work. They really believe this moldy, incompetent, nonfunctional, unapologetically disgusting gym is worth $50 a month for who knows what reason. There is so much cashflow coming through this place (as everyone apparently pays close to $50 upon just asking) that it is very apparent whoever is at the top is just putting their money under a mattress at home rather than doing any sort of maintenance/improvements. Absolutely hilarious.

Terrible experience and very unhelpful staff. Dennis Gomez was very rude, unhelpful, and incompetent. We already paid for the gum membership but Dennis doesn’t know how to activate the membership for us. He could have ask his manager for help but refused to. He then refused to let us go in and workout even when we showed him that we already paid for the gym membership and just need it to be activated. Instead he pushed his responsibility to another coworker and said because that person is not here he is unable to help us. When we ask for his name, he got scared and refused to give us his name (I found out his name later anyway). He said he cant give us name but he mentioned his coworker name multiple times previously. If you are looking for competent and helpful staff this is not the place. If you want to activate your membership find another LA Fitness

I've been looking for a gym that gets me the minimum requirements. This one doesn't meet my expectations. Online, they offer 3 days pass, which is just a way to fish people to buy a membership they day you go and use. They wanted to hold my ID (common practice for sellers) until I got to buy a membership. These folks all care about their commissions instead of helping people.
Not recommended.

The staff doesn’t enforce rules. The sauna is meant for dry heat yet patrons go in and eat fruit and soak themselves with water and other liquids in the sauna. Liked of wet clothes being hung over in the sauna to dry. It’s awful. There used to be signs on the doors in English and Spanish but those signs are not there anymore. Place needs major remodeling

I’m very disappointed with the cleanliness of this gym location. The equipment isn’t properly sanitized, and both the sauna and steam rooms are frankly gross. There’s a serious lack of antibacterial stations or cleaning supplies available. This is a basic expectation for a gym, especially one with high traffic.

I recently came from CHUZE Fitness, which was always super clean and well-maintained, and it’s a huge contrast. Dirty equipment and unsanitary facilities aren’t just unappealing—they pose real health risks. Members shouldn’t have to worry about infections, respiratory issues from mold, or broken equipment from lack of upkeep. I’d love to see management prioritize a better cleaning protocol to create a healthier, more welcoming environment.

The cardio machines are outdated and half usually don’t work or something is wrong. The lifting machines are useable but some should be removed for the safety of guests. Attachments are like gold in this location, IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND. The cleanliness needs a lot of work, the bathrooms/showers are pretty bad. Looks like they haven’t been cleaned in months. The old carpet all over the cardio area is shocking. The pool is decent, usually occupied by elderly hanging out.
Other than that the track is pretty decent, needs some work.

On the other hand, the one in Alahambra is very clean. Please pay attention to cleaning it well.

This gym location is amazing for the spacious aerobics room, multiple training machines, friendly employees, cleanliness, and amazing classes.
I've been going to this location for over a year now and enjoy the welcoming atmosphere and being greeted by receptionist like Josefine.
The gym location has a wide array of training machines and equipment that caters to every fitness level. The staff at the gym are friendly and very helpful to answer any questions one may have.
When opening a membership at this location Joseline is the person to speak to in order to get a deal that works best for you.
Upon entrance of the gym you’re welcomed by security like Olga and Elida outside supervising the premises to help ensure safety.
The operations manager, Robert has done an excellent job at quickly resolving any issues other members and I have. He has a very proactive approach at implementing improvements and addresses issues before they become significant problems.
Custodians like Betty and Candy do an excellent job at maintaining the entire gym immaculately clean while being friendly to members. Their genuine amiable presence not only enhances the overall gym experience but also fosters a sense of community and belonging among members.
A standout feature is the variety of group fitness classes offered. From high-intensity interval training to relaxing yoga sessions, there's something for everyone. The instructors, such as Eliza(Zumba), Moses(Cycling), and Helen(Yoga), are not only knowledgeable but also incredibly motivating, making each class a rewarding experience.
This location is a personal favorite because it has the conveniency of saunas that are not co-Ed and one sauna that is co-Ed.
I'll end this review noting that LA fitness has countless different features that all members have access to therefore it was a no-brainer to become a member at this gym and a pleasure to be a recurring paying member.

A gym of this scale can do so much with the right staff but my experience with the manager fell short. My expectations aren't great but a lack of connection here broke my ambition. I can't imagine myself putting my money (a yearly subscription plus a monthly payment) into a place that only sees me as a walking dollar sign. I don't think it's their fault either, surely there's tons of pressure to get as many members as possible and everyone has to hustle but the connection wasn't there today. I've been dedicated to other gyms that made me feel more connected with myself through community so coming back to the grind after a slump didn't feel encouraging here.

It's not all bad, Valerie (a worker who gave me a friendly tour) mentioned new floors the carpet was spotless and the place is set up nicely with a bustling pool area. I was impressed with their two floors and the 1/8 mile track. They even have an area for your kids! You can get a normal membership and they mentioned a new promotion or you can pay extra for a personal trainer which is a neat option too. The vibe is lively, I can tell everyone was focused on their work out which is motivating. All in all, if you're looking for a place that has the machines and dumbbells then this can definitely work for you. It seemed like the crown was definitely older so maybe that's why I felt out of place but if you think a gym is more than just iron and a solitary grind then I think the price is steep for the same old basic equipment.

When I stepped in front of the door at LA Fitness, I was so apprehensive about taking that first step in. I didn’t know how to use any of the machines or weights. The anxiety I was feeling almost prevented me from doing so. I was able to speak with a customer-centric (Personal Trainer Director) Francisco Cabezas who made me feel comfortable and assured me that I would not regret investing in myself; he wasn’t wrong! Francisco assigned me to the BEST personal trainer in the gym named Chris Alvidrez for a six month once a week training session. Chris taught me how to use the machines, free weights, and core exercises. Chris is patient, encouraging, and pushed me past my preconceived limits. I walked at 210lbs and ended my six-month training at 180.4lbs. Although I still have more weight I would like to lose, I can actually see muscles forming for the first time in my life. I highly recommend reaching out to Francisco to sign up and more importantly, ask for Chris to train you (if you want the best that is). I don’t regret it, nor will you.

Good luck finding a 25-lb or a 10-lb weight anywhere. There are always 3-4 barbells missing from the benches and incline benches. The bathrooms are gross all the time. There are no paper towels and no working hand driers. If you can spare the 10-minute drive, the location on Atlantic in Monterrey Park is much cleaner and without the issue of missing weights. I’ve also found the crowd in Monterrey Park to generally just be better at putting weights back and more respectful.

The club itself is in great shape, clean and has all the equipment and weights you would want for a good solid workout. The problem with this place is that the members do not put the weights back where they belong so finding any kind of free weight is damn near impossible. I witnessed many people running around looking for different weights that are scattered throughout the gym because after using them the previous member doesn't put them back to where they belong. This isn't the club's fault they can only do so much but the weight situation here is a mess. There are hardly any handles for the pulley machines which makes it challenging to get the various workouts that you can typically can do with these machines.

Everytime i come the place gets worse and worse. They took away the heavy bags for boxing. Why? Because people like to use them thats why lol. Cold tub is ALWAYS out of order. Right off the bat two things that make this location worth a trip are now gone. I took a shower today and actually wanted to give them props for FINALLY putting curtains on a few of the stalls....but even that was ruined because the first stall i tried to use wouldn't turn off. I literally just had to leave it with the water running. This place is in need of a serious upgrade. On the bright side, there is a Popeyes and a solid Mexican joint in the parking lot. The first week I asked for help twice giving attitude because, I needed help to put the information on the machine like weight, age, etc.. not even the personal trainer knew how to. Also, people never put the heavy weights away after using them. But, besides that everything is awesome 😎

I dont know why theres so many workers here and the place looks horrible, especially if compared to the Monterey la fitness. The cleaning crew is amazing their everywhere putting in work, i mean the rest of the team that dont do jack. NOTHING is EVER re-racked nor is it enforced. The Monterey gym has like 2 employees and everything is pristine. This wack Montebello one has like 8 workers and always looks horrible. Its beyond time to upgrade this gym. Honestly it deserved 1 star. Star #2 is for the janitor team you guys rock.

Good management, good parking, convenient. After visiting other brands, locations, I see what stands out, makes this place special; wet and dry sauna, cold plunge, jacuzzi, loop trac inside, good variety of equipment. The patrons are very friendly. The classes are good, variety. Water station, filtered and can fill bottles. Sad note- its down now.

Estoy muy decepcionado de este lugar porque es muy sucio los banos son un asco el sauna la piscina y todo además si te descuidas te roban todo no tiene un buen servicio la necesidad me hace ir pero no lo recomiendo

The place could do a lot better in the following areas

1.) Toilets and general area are always dirty.
2.) Sauna room for men has missing wooden blocks and interior door handle for weeks now. Its a hazard and anyone can slip inside.
3.)This location is always packed - You have to fall in line and wait to use some equipments.
4.) Its not 24 hour gym. For the price youre paying youre better off to go at planet fitness for half the price and its 24 hours operational.

I wonder when new owners are going to spend money on new water fountains they are the worst I’ve seen in any club, always broken down, and the staff apparently doesn’t care if people are walking around without their shirts on which is disgusting and unhealthy it’s not the staff fault because the owners don’t spend the money, but they could do more. Thank you.

Today I got disgusted because of the thilthy urine and toilet areas, piss everywhere. The nice lady in the front desk said that the crew came in earlier, but nobody knows if the cleaning crew cleaned the Male rest rooms.SOMEBODY IS NOT DOING THER JOB,, OR MAYBE MANAGMENT NEED TO BE REPLACED. Rest rooms remind me of the old teenage days when I was a drunk ,drug person. Coparate LAFITNESS SHOULD warn the lazy nogoid for nothing bums ,FIRE THEM or or place managment.period..NO STAR. I hope this LAFITNESS thanks me for not posting any pics of the restroom.

Friendly staff, but the facility feels old and run down. The men's locker room is nasty. There is always something out of service. And way too many kids/teens, taking up space and just sitting on the stretching mats using their phones and recording things on their phones.

My first day a staff member walked me around the club and explained the use of the equipment and about the swimming area too. He was excellent. The machines were clean, locker room too. I AM. Very glad I joined. U should too!! Come work out with us my wife loved it !!!

The Montebello L.A Fitness is my favorite, has alot of machines down stairs and up above the pool are the treadmills..abdominal machines....also there is another roon w Bikes...u can run on thr track upstairs...there are two ways u can get upstairs..i go daily. Tons of unnecessary or repetitive machines for upper nothing for legs. Just two squat racks and two 45° press machine. And then you have like seven machines for rows and chest. Crazy. What about purchasing a belt squat machine? Belt hip trust? Hack squat ? Idk

Unfortunately, this place is very small and cramped. There is absolutely no personal space between the machines and the number of people at this location. I wish they would take more into consideration the space they have for people's comfort while they are working out more than getting people signed up.
