It has a pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and a track on the 2nd floor. I got a no annual fee promotion but they try to get it pass me as a later charge. Edit: talked to them and they reverse the charge. Kudos! It has been my easiest interaction with any gym all across the board by far. This is the gym to be. Highly recommended!

Good location to workout if you in National City area. Building is a bit old and could use some remodeling I know it probably already has cuz it’s an old building. But for the basics it’s good come get your machine on, cables, if your lucky and depends what time you come get a bench. But honestly, just ask I’ve experienced considerate people that either tell you how many sets they got left but still willing to give ya that bench time. The track that goes all around the 2nd floor is good if you’re not feeling the treadmill. They’ve got lots of classes in the main fitness room or upstairs cycling. They’ve also got a really hot sauna and heated pool and plenty of space in the rectangular style jacuzzi.

Jose forged a membership document that was never presented to my sister after he charged her card 250.00 after saying he said he needed to put a card on file. She came in to inquire about membership and training. She spoke with a John afterwards who called her on 3 way with a district manager and she was then told they would refund her and that Jose was wrong and did not sign her up correctly. Jose then called to ask what John said and I told him “cause I answered “ he was wrong because he never asked if she agreed to charges, never asked her to sign anything and charged her card. Then she started receiving phone calls and text from a Jacob. This was a whole mess,, but after all of this, all of a sudden ( hours later) Jose sends a forged document to email accusing her of agreeing to something she was never presented. Wow just wow,, Someone in charge needs to look into Jose because this is dishonest and deceitful. She ended up driving back up there and Jacob who was apologetic, supposedly completed a refund for her, this place is a mess. FYI I was on the phone with my sister throughout this entire experience so this is not hearsay

Manager Marisol was incredibly unprofessional. When members asked her to move the swim class slightly so elderly members could use the pool stairs, she rudely said, “Use the ladder like everyone else.” She even claimed LA Fitness is trying to “get rid of elderly members” because they don’t bring in as much money. Disrespectful, discriminatory, and unacceptable behavior from management.

Rude staff, inconsiderate patrons, and abhorrent facilities. Mold and mildew cover the walls in the showers. The pool is not scrubbed daily nor cleaned. Ph balance of both the pool and spa are not within specifications and to compensate, the staff over chlorinates both. Most patrons have no sense of courtesy or pool etiquette. Older patrons in the pool have open sores and improper clothing for the pool. Bandaids can be found at the bottom of the pool as well as floating pieces of dead skin and toilet paper from people not observing proper hygiene.

Don’t bother informing the staff, they do not care nor do they monitor patron safety and adherence of the rules posted.

Joined this gym , Sweetwater road location last December , because I needed the pool to rehab my knee. Front desk manager always has a sour face and makes you feel like you disturbed her day by showing up ! One day a sub instructor came to teach a weights class & she forget the code to open the weights stand , she asked the operations manager who told her that the aerobics room was not part of her area of responsibility ! Also , the hair dryer at the women’s locker room supposedly was stolen a while back & never replaced , all they had to do was to secure the new hairdryer with some heavy cable staples ! I just ended up buying my own so that I could dry my hair. Another instructor for the Saturday class consistently comes 10-15 minutes late to teach her class, with no disciplinary action. Furthermore , they replace regular instructors with a steady following without any notice ! Almost all the Zumba classes are taught by the group exercise supervisor , who , in my professional estimation ( I have been a certified group exercise instructor for over 40 years, a certified personal trainer , and a registered yoga instructor) has no education and professional training in kinesiology or fitness , to the point of being absolutely an unsafe instructor , habitually blasting her music to deafening levels . She is Most probably only Zumba certified, and yet this company chose to have her lead the group exercise program at this facility, even teaching a mat Pilates class that is a joke honestly. One of the members complained to the corporate office regarding the switching of instructors without due notice or courtesy and she was told by the corporate office “ if you don’t like it here , you can join another gym “!
That about sums up the vibe and culture at this gym.

Been broken for over a year and seems like they don't care to fix it, in most saunas you can do like 15 20 minutes in this one the heat is sow low that you can be in here a hour just to brake a sweat. Front desk (National City) will not answer the phone. When they do they will transfer while you’re talking. They they pick up on the other end and hang up. 6 times in a row. The locker rooms:
This place smells of mold and mildew is falling apart; everything from the restroom partitions, to the tile floor, every piece of metal rusting, the walls beneath the sink countertop are all ripped out from water damage and fans running likely to keep people from noticing the horrendous smell.

The location:
If you don’t mind parking your vehicle next to multiple homeless encampments where your vehicle is the target each time you park there then you’ll be fine. If you don’t like having your car broken into avoid at all costs.

The staff:
The manager Marisol might be the most unprofessional, inconsiderate, and unkind person I’ve ever encountered in a customer service setting and that’s conservative for how big a piece of work this person is.

LA fitness you should consider reassessing this location and your managerial staff.

I live very close to this gym, in 2019 I did a tour through facility. Machines are outdated and most are broken. Bathrooms are unkept, staff is never present throughout facility for help with machines.

Several amenities, but all need maintenance attention and a regular, thorough cleaning... especially showers, saunas, and locker room floors. It would be so much easier to keep the facility clean if there were water hose attachments available for the staff to rinse away surface grime and dirt. This may also help address sewer gnat issues I've seen at some clubs as well as mold and mildew on shower curtains.

I am writing to express my recent experience at LA Fitness on Sweetwater Road concerning my attempt to cancel my gym membership. Despite following the prescribed procedure by sending two emails requesting cancellation, I encountered several obstacles in person.

Upon arriving at the gym the next day at 11:00 a.m., I was informed that the manager was on break and would return in half an hour. Unfortunately, this conflicted with my work schedule, as it was my lunch hour, so I had to leave.

Subsequently, I called to schedule a meeting with the manager and was advised to come in at 11:00 a.m. However, upon my return, I found that the manager was once again unavailable. Despite leaving my contact information for a callback, I never received one.

Additionally, I visited the gym again the following day at 4:00 p.m., but once more, the manager was not present.

Furthermore, I noticed discrepancies in the logging of my gym visits. While my visits were not consistently recorded in my account, they were accurately logged in your system. Despite bringing this issue to your attention, it remained unresolved.

The service I received during these interactions was extremely poor. The young staff members lacked basic customer service skills and seemed more focused on making sales rather than assisting members.

Due to these persistent frustrations, the lack of resolution, and the poor service provided, I have made the decision to cancel my membership. It is evident that deliberate tactics are being employed to discourage cancellations, such as wasting members' time.

As a result of this experience, I feel compelled to leave a negative review.

Roaches ! . Dirtiest, most nasty gym I’ve been to. First visit, soon as I entered locker room smells dirty! Like it has never been cleaned. Bathroom stinks like urine . I used the bathroom & a roach was crawling in bathroom floor & ran inside a missing piece of wall.

I have been using this gym for about a year. The men's bathroom is consistently appalling. The showers are always dirty, plumbing doesn't work properly. Soap dispensers often don't work. There has been a thriving ant colony for a whole year infesting various areas of the bathroom. Simple use of bleach would dramatically improve conditions. One time, the floor smelled as if it had been mopped with urine.
The stair climbing machines are always out of commission to some extent, usually most of the screens are inoperable. Usually no more than three of six are functioning at any one time.
This gym needs to to better and many of the fixes are simple, cheap and easy, which makes me think that lazy, indifferent staff and management are to blame.

I had a very bad experience in this facility
The staff are not knowledgeable with the policies. . I came in and told the staff that I have a guest who’s only a member to just one specific gym. gave her name and ask the staff if I still have to do anything. The staff said I am good to go. My guest was not allowed to go in and was asked to pay $10 ( although she has a week pass given to her a week before that will last today)
The manager Marisol is very rude and not so helpful in the guest procedure entry.
I was trying to explain to her the implication of the staff not doing the right procedure
(My guest missed the class) She implied that I didn’t do the right thing but my explanation was to no avail.
She said that they don’t care if we disenroll in LA fitness
On the other hand Ester told our group to go away and keep pointing finger on me, I told her not to point finger on me since it is rude, she said why not? Then curse me ceasingly (“F” word) and did the finger curse
This is very unacceptable for the manager/ supervisor to treat a long time member who are paying the membership that allows to go to different facilities with two guests.

Been going here for a year and some change
Usually everything is okay but as of lately there has been an ABSURD amount of issues throughout the gym.
Yesterday there was 12 machines that were broken or "out of service", they take an average of 2 to 3 months to get to fix any machine so I'm unsure if this will be a permanent thing or maybe it is scheduled maintenance. The decline bench press has been out of service for about 2 months now.
Aside from that, the gym is tolerable
The staff is amazing, but the facilities are really crippled
The male bathroom is constantly broken or out of service like every other day, the stalls being all floppy/ the toilets being off the flange so using them is a balance act.
The male bathroom is Also next to the sauna, so you are sweating while trying to use it.
There's constant clogs, the sinks are constantly being worked on and the bottoms are all torn out. I see staff clean it constantly but it's never like
Clean? The whole bathroom needs to be pressure washed.
There's an abundance of broken lockers as well.
The upstairs has a really bad ant problem? I don't know where they come from but you're constantly seeing them on the walls and the treadmill area.
There's always some treadmills down as well.
There's also like a really disproportionate amount of machines? There's a gigantic bike room that is actively empty, that should probably be converted into a leg workout room.
The people that go there to work out are nice, in my experience. But the place is ALWAYS packed except on like a Sunday afternoon or something.

I just wish the gym wasn't so decrepit and run down.

The place is very old and the machines were broken and old and there wasn't a variety so you had to wait and wait some of the cleaning staff was really rude and obnoxious and some of the members were really nasty. The members are rude and one lady was picking a fight with me over the bench in the locker room it was so stupid she wanted it over by her locker and said she didn't care about what anybody else thought and I told her well that's me because I'm on the other side and she said well too bad and she just started to fight I don't want to get in any more details but I talked to Front desk they said They spoke with her but she continued to do it so I called corporate the members there act like ignorant children. As for the machines they still broke and there's not enough for them a lot of time you go to adjust the machine and it wont-work the plugs or pigs you pull on are jammed and you just get so frustrated you walk away and there's no way to help you and it's like that all the time they never pay attention to I did oh care then you have members sitting there talking on the phone while you're standing there waiting. People hogging the little few machines that there are by saying they're using 2 or 3 at the same time and refusing to Le at somebody else use one while they're on another 1 The rules here definitely needs to be enforced and then you have private members training other people also. If people also leaving items on equipment and walking away and doing other things so that they can hog or keep that machine from anyone else walking the wrong way on the track and nobody seems to care Instagram

This location is poorly maintained, my membership is new and I’ve been traveling around the country, so far the few locations I’ve went to felt like a luxury gym, so you shy imagine how traumatized I was when i hit the pool and the floor of the pool had slimy moss/dirt everywhere, it was very reminiscent of swimming in a dirty pool. The locker rooms are dirty. If it’s 50 dollars a month why? If it’s an old over used location, it’s full time for renovations! If it were a bunch of yt ppl going to this gym they’d maintain it better. Have some respect for the Mexican community and give them a proper and sanitary facility. I’ve went to other locations where the crowd was overwhelming and they still manage to maintain a clean and hospitable gym.

It doesn't seem over crowded. Which is nice. I like it's cleanliness. But. Staff just acts like you're not even there. Big lack of friendly greetings... also where's the music? I don't bring headphones but it's very awkward working out in a almost ghostly silent gym.
After a 20 yr membership this location is my least favorite.

If I could give negative stars I would! This place Is trainer's first and cleaning lady is always in your way! She sprays cleaner up in the air and let's it rain down on you. I Complained so many times and Manager Agreed she was not supposed to do that. Then the manager of 15y left and the cleaning lady went crazy 🤪 spay extra around me. She even pulls Extension cords half way through the building zigzag around thing pull over your water bottle and bags. She pulled a 6 foot sign ontop of a lady and didn't even know it. So I went to cancel. As I went to cancel cleaning lady decided she was going to clean rite next to me at front desk and And used her dirty mop to clean my gym bag on the floor. Yes I was there first she came to me. She must have thought i was complaining about her again.Just crazy!

Trainers take up 2-3-4 equipment at a time yelling across gym for there Clients to do certain reps. You can see why really this gym has no people in it ever they just don't feel welcome 😒 sorry to say.

I was excited it looked like a good gym at first and they have alot of cable machines. but employees need to realize members come first. This is the members time to escape from there day and feel great! Not feel stress. Hope this helps the gym and the people. Have a great work out!!

I want to give this facility at 3.7 star. I love the spin class here, the large sauna space but to be honest there are ants everywhere. From the drinking fountains to the floors in the ladies locker rooms. Make sure to bring sandles if you plan on taking off your shoes to freshen up.

I love to swim and this is one of the few gyms that has a jaccuzzi. I go to the one in San Marcos, Chula Vista, and National City.

Not my favorite LA fitness location. Free weight section is pretty small and I seem to always to be waiting for a piece of equipment to be free. Everything is well maintained and clean though and everyone who frequents the gym is kind and friendly.

The place is alright overall. Hate the short weekend hours. There’s also a Hispanic lady in the front with glasses that’s always soooo rude to most people I see walking through the door including myself. She looks like she hates her job, I think they should can her for the sake of the club. She makes me not want to go this location.

I love this location. The staff is always nice and friendly. I saw comments that they weren't nice after they got you to enroll and that is just not true. All the things I've seen people complain about regarding policies, were all clearly outlined to me when I signed the contract. It's not super crowded, facilities are clean, and this is definitely a family gym of all ages. As a plus sized woman in her forties, I don't feel uncomfortable anywhere in the gym. I have physical limitations due to injuries so I go for the pool. It's a great pool. Temperature is perfect... I am very happy with my decision to sign up here last summer (about 6 months ago)

Jan2023: The B with the straight hair and the clown eye lashes seems like she hates working there, always in the front with a RBF. Poor hiring process of staff when they hired her. Gets mad when u come in 30 before close , she doesn't realize some people are good with a 15 minute cardio. Also she leaves 5 minutes before closing so not like she is re racking all the weights anyways. It's the other staff and trainers putting away the gym.

I have been a loyal LA customer for 3 years now. Had to resign a contract with this location due to military reasons. The staff here pretends to be nice. The trainers just annoy you to sign up for their program. Was interrupted on multiple occasions during work out sessions to see if I wanted to sign up. I was deploying sooner than thought, asked if they needed a letter showing this. And I was told "no we work well with military members. " two months later, still being charged fees. When I asked to speak with a manager the front desk woman hung up on me then refused my calls. I am now officially never going back to LA fitness at all, 3 years of being a customer. They just make you feel YOU’RE the inconvenience. Save your money! This place is a scam!

gym does not prioritize cleanliness. this morning when out of sanitizer wipes, they just put out dry paper towels. generally no one wipes down their equipment here and no one cleans up after themselves. i shouldn’t need to bring my own cleaning equipment to a gym but i am considering it.

The staff is rude and unknowledgeable, had to call the regional office to get the right information on how to facilitate my entry without being harrassed every time I check in with the APP

Only 4 stars because they do not have enough classes. I was thinking on getting a personal trainer from there but I talked to other people at the gym and they didn't recommend it. They said most of the time the trainer don't come and things like that. I will update later.

Friendly and informative staff, clean environment, great adult exercise classes for all age groups. Especially like the track on the 2nd floor. Makes walking and jogging enjoyable. Like the jacuzzi, they keep it nice and toasty!! We have Silver Sneakers and this location let us know a benefit that we didn't know we had that our home location never told us about.
