Hi,
I’m writing to report a serious decline in the service and hygiene standards at this gym location. There is not a single paper towel available anywhere, and everything has been replaced with air hand dryers.

There are studies showing that using air dryers in restrooms can quickly blow bacteria and germs back onto people’s hands. Installing air dryers without providing paper towels is one of the worst hygiene decisions a gym can make.

In addition, when someone spills water on the floor or on the benches, there is no paper towel to clean it up. Are we supposed to wait until someone slips and gets injured?

I have visited your Chino Hills and Old Pasadena locations—they are the same brand, yet both of them provide paper towels. Why is THIS location the only one with absolutely no paper towels?

Please address this issue as soon as possible. Hygiene and safety should be a basic priority.

I know this may be petty, but the dumbbell rack is always out of order scattered everywhere making it hard to find the weights you need. Locker rooms are definitely in need of some deep floor scrubs and Deep clean of showers (black floor and grouts).

listen.....I truly was hoping not having to do this again, but….I guess disappointments and disasters at this gym is inevitable. After my last complaint 90% of issues magically went away. I’m not sure if it was due to the management change or corporate, but I was happy. It was during the time when, forgive me if I don’t remember her name, Jessica or jazmine - the girl with the cute blondish ponytails - I think was the front desk manager . Just her customer service skills alone was exquisite. We always had paper towels in the bathroom; soap in the dispensers; cleanliness throughout the whole gym; bacteria wipes at all times; and equipment was pretty much maintained properly.

With this manager, it’s the complete opposite version of the prior manager. She is a complete disaster on all levels…..!if I were to report some of her comments made when members, including myself bring up their complaints and concerns, she will definitely get fired. I do not and would NOT want her to get fired because I don’t need any negative karma in my life. All I could say about my last encounter with her in regards to the complete removal of the paper towels were disgustingly sarcastic, and condescending that left me flabbergasted.

Every single LA fitness gym has paper towels and wipes. Ever since she got here, she’s been complaining about the paper towels and wipes…. Pontificating on how members are abusing it….and that it’s not fair…Magically, we have no paper towels anymore at this location. Mind you, most of the time, we also have no wipes. This is disgusting. I noticed that most members now are just using toilet seat covers for paper towels, which is a pretty good idea.

Some lady just made everyone leave the gym 5 min early. She was yelling at everyone. Everyone was telling her there’s 5 minutes but she would just raise her voice the more people argued. I pay for the doors to la fitness to be opened from opening to closing. If it’s in their policy to start closing early based on when they feel like it they should post their updated policy and have all members sign. Ridiculous

From start to finish, LA fitness makes for a great gym experience. Plenty of parking and wonderful staff to greet you and work with you on any membership related concerns. Outstanding customer service and very clean facility. Plenty of equipment for cardio, no waiting needed and good amount of space for weights. My only wish was more foam rollers/mats for warmups/cool downs.

I’ve been a loyal member of LA Fitness for over 10 years, and I can confidently say the quality and care have gone downhill dramatically.

Let’s talk about sanitizing wipes. They used to have 5 or 6 stations around the gym — totally reasonable. But recently, it felt like every week they were removing one, until eventually only one remained. At some point, they must’ve realized one was too little, so they added a second. But even then, if you go after work (when it’s most crowded), there are usually no wipes left and no refills in sight.

It gets worse. The women’s restroom used to have paper towels. Now? They’ve been replaced with those electric hand dryers. So when the two wipe stations are empty (which is often), there’s literally no paper anywhere in the gym. You’re forced to use shared equipment that dozens of other people have touched — with no way to clean it.

The most ridiculous part? I once saw both sanitizing stations labeled “Under Maintenance.” Seriously? It’s a plastic box that holds wipes — what exactly needs to be maintained?

And here’s the kicker: one day I saw a janitor open the door marked “Emergency Exit Only” between the basketball and racquetball courts. Inside? Five full wipe stations just sitting there, unused. That was the moment I realized how little LA Fitness values its paying members.

This level of neglect is unacceptable. I stuck with this gym for a decade, but it’s clear they no longer care about cleanliness, safety, or their long-term members. Absolutely disgusting.

A 3 star is deserved, been going to several LA fitness gyms and this is definitely deserves a 3. The room with the heavy bags is used by people who do their Zumba which is fine but they start to talk down and belittle you just for using the heavy bag. They’ll insult other members of the gym who patiently wait for their hour to pass but they CONSTANTLY go over the scheduled time and get mad at the people WAITING. Staff is ok mostly on phones but seem nice. Bathrooms have no paper towels which is a head scratcher to me. Only saving grace is the parking situation, plenty of that.

Going to need staff to enforce some sort of policy where people attending classes in the ONE studio can't start setting up until 5 minutes before class or something. Tired of people with no sense of spatial, social, and time awareness making it seem like class is about to start and their special spots are being taken away and there's still 30 whole minutes before the class even starts.

I frequent this location whenever the one on Cordova has a full parking lot (they should either add more visitor spots there or allow people to park on the always-empty EV ones). This location has a bigger parking lot, a swimming pool (never tried it) and a great layout. The one on Cordova also has 3 floors, and the A/C reaches the first two very well, but had an issue for the longest time in which the 3rd floor had poor A/C and the windows would get foggy and condensed at night.

This location only has 1 floor, but it's gigantic, and everything is laid out nicely. It is also super close to a Ralph's and the parking lot is pretty big, so finding parking should be a pretty easy thing.

The staff is friendly, they have enough power racks, benches and free weights so that you can do what you need to do and get out.

Everything is maintained well and the whole place is well-lit-up, and full of great clientele. 10/10.

Everyone at the gym has been very respectful to me but there is a lady who I'm assuming is manager of the front desk. Has told me I need to sign only by phone, I don't have memory on my phone for the app so I sign in by phone number. She gave me a deadline until July to get that fixed which came of theating but I did not argue. Today when checking in mind you it's June 11 and not July, she told me if I don't get it fixed again by the next time I come in she will refuse to let me workout, which is even more theating. If it was until June then say June not July don't change your mind just because you're pissed, which is incredibly unprofessional.

Well, from 1:10 to 1:40 pm, I had to share a swimlane with only one other person, but it's always crowded. The pool has too few lanes. And there is virtually never paper toweling in the one dispenser in the ladies licker room. Sigh.

Be ready to not be greeted, even by the general manager Heidi when you’re standing there for minutes waiting to get their attention while they are on their phones. Never was I greeted, or asked how I could be helped until I spoke up a second time. Aside from that, the equipment is often times broken and poorly calibrated (ie: loose cables). Save your money.

Not Worth It – Save Yourself the Headache

In the grand scheme of gyms, this one ranks near the bottom. I had a basic membership and simply wanted to upgrade to a VIP membership so I could access multiple locations. Seems simple, right? Nope. They told me I’d either have to cancel my current membership and start a brand new one—with new initiation fees and first/last month’s payment—or pay an absurd “upgrade” fee.

When I asked why it was so complicated and expensive just to upgrade, I got the weirdest explanation that made zero sense. Trying to get clarity from a manager was even worse—I was met with nothing but a hard sales pitch. I emailed customer service three separate times. When I finally got a reply weeks later, they completely ignored every question I asked and just told me to go back into the gym. Lol.

This place is a waste of time and money. The customer service is nonexistent, and they clearly don’t care about retaining members. I canceled my membership and moved on to Planet Fitness—so far, a much smoother and more straightforward experience.

Don’t even bother with this gym. You deserve better.

Machines are in good condition, Large area, love the RB courts,swimming is good, it can get crowded , same as the jacuzzi during peak time. The negative:it does not have a steam room, most of the time, shower floors are always tacky, short on hand paper towels. I find the staff friendly.

The review above was about 8 years or pre pandemic ago. There has been improvements as far as upkeep and cleanliness.
Still enjoy on using the facilities especially during unpeak hours. Parking is hard to find during early evenings.

Staff are lazy and very unprofessional. The example I give is guy in a wheelchair passed by 3 staff members talking at the front desk . All 3 looked up at the gentleman in the wheelchair leaving , nobody even attempted to move. To me that speaks volumes on management as well as staff to deliberately choose to not help or even offer.

Decently good neighborhood gym. Super close to home and kept pretty well for a 11+ year old facility. Does get a bit crowded at peak hours though. And closes too early. Especially on weekends. I prefer Golds at the Arcadia mall a bit more. But distance and parking sometimes make me say no. 🙃

Been going here for many years and the gym has only gotten worse over time. They almost never restock paper towels in the bathroom or refill the soap dispensers. This is absolutely disgusting for a public environment where people are cross contaminating all the time. The staff are not helpful at all. The weights are constantly disorganized. There have been virtually zero upgrades to any of the facilities in the gym since it opened. I have been to 30 LA Fitness locations as I travel for work, and this is one of the only ones where the wifi barely works and there is no cellular data available. Im strongly considering cancelling my membership because this location is trash

Outside of the gym was promising. It was clean, well lit and had several electric car chargers up front and along the sides of the building. The gym itself is smaller than most of the 2 story gyms I have frequented but tires make good use of their space.

Front desk attendant was welcoming and inviting. As it was my first time at this club it was nice to have them briefly point out the amenities. Locker room was a little warm and some of the locker doors looked to have been ripped off. Floor and lockers were clean but above my reach had a dense layer of dust and dirt on it.

The 2 warm up mats were very small and with 3 people already stretching and warming up adding myself as a 4 felt very cramped.

I started with the elliptical machine and found that the meshing I started on and the 2 on either side of me the TV did not work. Made the best of it used my phone.
The gym equipment was clean and worked well but it was crowded enough that I had to wait in the Mushrooms to get off the equipment when they were done resting.
After a frustrating wait for machines I finally gave up and went to the Jacuzzi.

The lap pool was used by a swim school that was wrapping up for the day it seems and there was kids and moms floating around the pool deck gathering up their gear. I showered before I saw the jacuzzi and saw clouds of white and brown foam floating on top of the water and decided against that hazmat situation.

The sauna was my next stop. It was average for most gyms I had run into. Not sparkling clean but it a cesspool either. Light did not work but that is actually the way I prefer it. Had a good sweat in the Sauna and moved in to the showers.
Having to grab my shower gear was complicated by a busy locker area and smaller than average benches. After a minute of 2 I was able to retrieve my bag and use the counter in front of the mirror to retrieve my shower gear.

Showers were not the cleanest, some mold in the corners and agin the high points on the wall. The shower curtains did have some mold on the bottom folds of the curtain the the soap dispenser had a cancer big color of liquid.

After a careful shower not to touch any of the surfaces. I dressed and left. This could be a really nice gym, I think definitely some cleaning in the shower area and the jacuzzi. Addressing the small warm up area and adding multiples of common gym equipment would be a great help.

You are not safe here. In the short time I attended, there was a robbery for which police was called. In an incident personal to me, I, as a legal elder, was challenged to fight, assaulted, and had property taken from me. Sal, supposedly GM, was unmoved. Had to request security until finally the police arrived. Sal, not there when this occurred, was untruthful with police. AVOID

A fan would be great in the weight lifting area. The 1 paper towel dispenser needs paper for the past 2 months. The 1 of 3 urinals has had a plastic bag over it for 5 months or more. About 5 machines are broken and need fixing.
MAINTANENCE is the key word in this Review. PLEASE. Not too difficult. I'm afraid of the pool if they can't maintain the building and machines.

I usually don’t leave complaints as a review, unless it’s important and this one’s important. The sanitation at this gym is poorly enforced.
The interiors of each locker never gets cleaned by the staff. I’ve seen this disgusting tomato can lid and splatter in the same locker for WEEKS. Which means the cleaning staff does not make the effort to clean each locker even when it’s used hundreds if not thousands of times with people changing dirty gym clothes, sauna clothes, and pool suits in there. I brought this to the attention of the front desk girl and she just smiled it off and said they don’t know when it gets cleaned and to make note the gym opens at 5am so it can get dirty by 10am. Uhhh yeah I know, but this tomato sauce has been here for WEEKS. Do I have to make a tiktok to make this go viral and visit it everyday to see if a colony of mold starts growing? lol

I’d like to also mention that there’s a ton of mold and mildew growing in the shower soap dispensers, on the shower curtains, and on the shower wall tiles. It’s honestly so gross that of all places, they would not maintain cleanliness.

For the same gym price, I could go to a competitor that actually takes care of their sanitation. Doesn’t seem like LA fitness cares about customer retention.

EVERYONE please make a drive to LA Fitness Huntington Beach and see the standard of exceptional cleanliness there. It’s truly night and day.

This is definitely one of the better LA Fitness locations. The cleaning staff is absolutely top notch. They are always going over everything to clean the dust, wipe down the equipment and especially the locker rooms. They are very clean. The only thing is that this location doesn’t have a turf area with a sled and medicine balls and such. The two squat racks get taken over by people not doing squats, so that’s a little frustrating, but all in all, it’s an amazing location.

My wife and I work out at LA Fitness three times a week. This LA Fitness has everything: swimming, trainers, weights, fitness equipment, classes--pretty much, you name it, they have it. My only suggestion for management: reduce the number of people who are monopolizing equipment, while they use their phone.

I've encountered some really nasty and strange members at this gym who never wipe down their machines, put back their weights, or clean up after themselves. I've seen members spit and even expel mucus onto the floor in the sauna room. They have zero common sense, and I seriously don't understand where these people came from—they're so inconsiderate. I've never been to a gym with such disgusting members. They'll sit on machines playing on their phones for what feels like forever. Not to mention the terrible body odor some have—it's so bad I can smell them from 20 feet away.

Machines and equipment are often broken too. The treadmills are old and inconsistent with their operation; some don't incline properly because of age, and others squeak and stutter. It gets busy too.

There are definitely things the operations team can do to improve this place, including enforcing proper etiquette among members and upgrading equipment. Maybe if they increased the price, the inconsiderate people would go elsewhere?

Personally, I wish I could go somewhere else, but this is the closest gym for me.

What a joy it was, joining this gym and getting to know its staff! For a period, Alex Aguilar was my fitness coach and working with him was the best gym experience I've ever had. He lost 90 pounds himself because of a commitment to fitness - my own weight loss goal - and so I connected to him very quickly. His motivational words held real meaning to me, and his down-to-earth style was exactly what you want out of a coach!

The staff at this gym really know what they're doing. If you're new to the fitness world, and not sure where to begin, just ask for Alex! He gives everyone their first session free.

It is decent as a gym. I usually use the pool though, and it is always PACKED on weekends. Usually at least 2 people per lane, max I saw was 5. Staff is nice, usually clean, and I often see the janitorial staff cleaning. They are really focused on fixing issues, i.e. usually a broken soap dispenser will be fixed in a week.

Apparently some guy died here about a year ago. The rumor isn't if he did or did not die, but if he was melting by the time they found him. He was in the sauna and souped up on drugs.He had a nasty habit of going from the backdoor to the women's locker room. No news coverage, though.

As for the gym, the customer service is horrible and they're just interested in getting you in a membership. You can't really blame underpaid people with bad management but know this is one of the many gyms where professionalism is not maintained past it being superficial. People who work there just want to get in, get out, go home. The people who run the franchises, or those supervising them, outside of the local gym employees, are extremely toxic, but this is hearsay. It explains the dynamic with poor customer service.

As for the people there, it's a mixed bag. You have the old guys who are in semi-retirement that play racquetball, some guys who are definitely on steroids, old people who put their best effort to stay healthy, et cetera.

You can build a respectable amount of muscle in this gym. Everything you need is there. The gym will be uncomfortable for people who have lived sheltered their whole life, but it certainly is very normal if you have an alright head on their shoulders.

As a personal anecdote, I bulked 50lbs in this gym and am on the last couple weeks of my weight cut. I look good and knew how to take advantage of the equipment and what I was working with to get there. You got to be smart.

Sign up through Active & Fit for significantly less per month and no commitment.

Overall good gym, could be cleaner, could have newer machines, but the annual cost is the same as one month at Equinox so it’s a no brainer.

Much more pleasant if you can avoid rush hour, but I’m still able to get on necessary equipment during the busiest of times.

Update on this gym's sanitary practices. There now are officially No More Paper Towels provided to members. Corporate decision I was told.
In this current pandemic they took away basic sanitary supplies. Air dryers are unsanitary and blow germs all over the environment. The chemical wipes now provided have no listed active ingredient content. Imagine smearing unknown chemicals all over your face? I think not.
Plus the perpetually backed up sinks but don't get me started.
Super unsafe and disappointing. I just hope that they get their act together.

Of my local LA Fitness locations this one is a best by far. The layout is open and Airy, the selection of machines and free weights is adequate and admirable.

Update: paper towels are a scarce commodity here. They're literally always empty in the men's locker room. And frequently in the workout area too.

They keep the ambient music to a minimum of volume which is nice since I like to listen on headphones. The staff at the desk always greet you in a pleasant way. The juice bar is well stocked and the people who work behind it are very nice as well.
I really approve this location over their Arcadia gym. Arcadia has gym facilities underground and it gets hot and steamy down there. And not in a good way. The overall clientele in Arcadia aren't nearly as pleasant as the ones in Hastings Ranch. 1 comment however is that the men's locker room could be better maintained. The counters are always splashed with water, Guys are slobs and it shows with paper towels overflowing the wastebaskets, soap dispensers and paper towels empty most of the time. They tried taking away the paper towel dispensers altogether and replacing them with electric air dryers but soon reverted back to the paper towel option. At least 1 single paper towel dispenser. Thank goodness.

Quick update. There is now occasional paper towels available. Soap dispensers may or not have liqued soap. But it shows some progress. Down with germs and viruses!

Finally a towel dispenser in the men's locker room has actual towels on a (semi) regular basis. Kudos! Soap dispensers work as advertised. Hats off to the corporate big wigs.

Well the paper towels have disappeared once again. Adios! Sayonara! There are No paper Towels available to members at LA fitness. Soap always empty 4 out of 5 sinks. Oh. Did you know we need sanitization during this pandemic? I carry my own paper towels when I go there. Really pathetic

Just when I gave up all hope of having a nice sanitary place to work out I see a pallet of paper towels! Brought tears to my eyes. My faith in humanity is restored.

Google demands an update on my experience with LA fitness. So here you go. Sorry to say the paper towel situation has degraded once again and they aren't available in the men's locker room about 50% of the time. Meaning you need to use those unhygeinic air drivers of you must that blow germs all over the place.
And forget about wiping your sweaty face or pits, ain't gonna happen unless you bring your own towel.

Still no paper towels for several days! Very discouraged to see this

No change. No paper towels. I'm beyond disgusted by this lack of consideration for members comfort and cleanliness.

How can this be allowed? I have to use toilet paper to wipe my face and hands. While the dispenser is empty and the trash cans billow over with trash.

For whatever reason there now tend to be paper towels available. Maybe other people are complaining. I peek around to the dispenser when I arrive with my fingers crossed. Voilà. Happy me.

But...... (big butt). The treadmills oh the treadmills. Oh so popular and oh so run down and oh so always in disrepair. TV's down work lots of the time. See attached picture.
Some might say I'm fussy or expect too much. I say do your job and give us the gym experience we pay for. Is that too much to ask?

My experience here left me feeling gross. Got charged $20 to “try out” LA Fitness. Minutes later I read online that they offer 3 day free passes , I approached the front desk guy who charged me and he said, oh yeah we can do that , but I can’t refund you the $20 or offer any concession. Won’t be getting a membership here.

I use this location primarily for swimming which is a challenge as it does get busy. To make matters worse - they have now contracted out to a private company (British Swim Club) who now take what little remaining lanes there were to swim. I find this very disrespectful to their patrons who already have to share lanes ( and have been paying and continue ro pay monthly) with 3/4 people. I assume they are greedy for the money which they care more about than the loyality to their existing patrons. I have canceled my membership.

Extremely disappointed with the management of this LA fitness. On Wednesday I parked in the EV only spots on the corner of the gym. As I was getting out an old man was trying to be a Karen and told me that I could not park in that spot because it was for electric vehicles only. I told him that my vehicle is in fact an electric vehicle and I have the stickers on the back to prove it. To which he ignored me and said it again. So I ignored him and went on into the gym but I noticed that he continued to stand there near my car. As I went inside to change in the fitting rooms, I thought about it again and was scared that he would do something to my car. So I went outside to check, which was when I saw a very deep and clear long key mark on the right back door of my vehicle that was not there before.

I went inside to the front desk to ask management if they could review the security cameras that were right above the area that I parked. They said I had to contact someone named Jasmine who is the only person that’s able to review security footage there but she was off already. The said they will leave a message for her to call me back the next day. I waited but never got a call from her. So I called her myself to which she proceeded to wave me off and say she will call me back the next day. It’s been 2 days and about 3 messages left for her and I have mot gotten a single call back. I am very disappointed with how they are handling this.

My first day in this location in a very long time, the Asian guy at front desk was excellent customer service, another sales guy also excellent walking around skinny dude. The free weights is all I go to gyms for, excellent 👌. Now what I didn't like is it was way to warm in the free weights area, lots of people just on phones not doing a Damm thing but getting in my way during my entire routine! Seems like lots of females and males just join gyms to hook up and get validated by wearing super tight clothes 😆 🤣. The parking also sucks to small, lots of drunks and drug addicts all over this location looking into cars. And I just read other reviews about break ins lately. I'm never visiting this la fitness again. I'm 52 and have visited way better gyms all over California. Good luck ladies and gentlemen.

Pros: Very friendly staff! The two guys at the front had great vibes and were so cordial. The lighting is great--lots of selection of machines, and in general well maintained.

Cons: I was only there for 1 day, but saw literally 2 sanitation wipe stations that were located in the center of the gym, and 1 of them was out. Meaning if you wanted to sanitize the machine, you had to walk ALL THE WAY to the center of the gym to get a wipe. As a result, nobody sanitizes their equipment. That's so gross! Planet Fitness and In-Shape have stations everywhere by comparison.

Good luck finding dumbbells with the weight that you need. The entire rack is an enigma of mismatched weights and sizes. For the life of me I could not find a 20lb set!

The treadmills only go up to a speed of 10--so I couldn't really do a HIT sprint workout on them.

This is just to raise awareness for people going to the gym. There has been several cars being broken into at this parking lot, targeting people going to the gym. A recent break in knew this particular person left their gym bag in the car and within a matter of minutes, had broken a (tinted) window in the back seat to steal the bag. Cops that showed up said this has been happening in that particular lot several times a month, they are constantly being called. If you ask staff inside the gym, they will tell you otherwise, that its only happened one other time, months ago. The security guard onsite also did nothing, heard nothing, saw nothing and did not even bother to see what was going on when the cops showed up...what a joke. Please be aware of your sorroundings and DO NOT leave stuff in your car.

Read previous reviews and thought people were being dramatic. I have been coming here for two weeks now 6 days a week. There are no paper towels aside from the SINGLE dispenser in the men's locker room (perhaps one in the ladies room as well?) Either way, you are pretty much forced to bring your own towel. This is my first gym experience where they do not offer paper towels. For a business that has all these "health and safety" reminders posted all over but to only have blow dryers? The hypocrisy is funny to me, thankfully I am not a germ-a-phobe. But yes for those looking for a gym just be aware this gym is unlike any I have encountered before when it comes to not supplying paper towels.

UPDATE 10/10/23: I've yet to be able to successfully connect to gyms WiFi. It's 2023, please fix this issue. Most hand sanitizer stations have papers saying "Scheduled for Maintenance" but have yet to see replacements or fixes. Also, one less disinfectant wipe station.

It’s my new go to gym! They have a lot of amenities although the weight area is always packed but not a big problem. Have a lot of variety of workout machines that includes bicycles and treadmills with the stairmaster as well.

I am a retired Navy veteran of nearly 25 years of active duty service and I’ve been a LA Fitness member since May 2019. The Pasadena Hastings Ranch location has been my gym of choice since becoming a member.

I’m a cardio enthusiast and my current choice of cardio is the elliptical. While utilizing the cardio equipment I enjoy watching the attached televisions on the equipment. Upon arriving at this facility in 2019 I recall a wide variety of television channels. In particular the television options included local ABC, Fox Sports, and the Bravo network. Myself and many other cardio enthusiasts enjoyed viewing these channels. These particular channels are very popular due to college football, basketball, NFL, NBA games, and a variety of entertainment on these networks.

All was going well until one particular day those television stations were abruptly removed. I can recall 13 customers including myself voicing our concern regarding the removal of those stations. The communications specialist at that time seemed genuinely concerned to uncover the problem but with no success. Immediately soon after a new communications specialists appeared with no resolve.

With the removal of these particular channels and the lack of WiFi at this facility, the atmosphere has drastically changed in a negative direction.

I attempted to call corporate on behalf of myself and the many other patrons with no resolve. Is there a resolve to this situation? Is this request really out of the scope of the LA Fitness quality of life for paid consumers?

I joined this location in the summer on a 2 month contract and was told it'd be easy to cancel my membership after the 2 months if I talked to them. Their rules mention you have to cancel 5 days ahead of time before your next billing month, so I followed that and went a week before the billing date to cancel. I waited an entire week and a half both calling and going in-person asking to get my membership cancelled, and no management in there was adequate enough to help me get something as simple as getting my membership cancelled. Every single day I checked in to see the status of my requested cancellation they kept making a new excuse as to why it couldn't get cancelled that day, and that they'd call me the next day. A week and a half went by with no one working on my issue even when they lied and said the manager was working on it. Then on the last day of me complaining to them, a front desk lady told me they don't even have a manager that does cancellations. So they lied the entire time. I had to call national member services for them to finally be able to cancel my membership and to complain about the management, and to give me a refund. The management in this location is terrible, and will not help you with your issues.

Some separate issues are that the shower curtains are all moldy, so it's very gross. The lockers are disgusting and look like they've never been cleaned off so if you want to store your stuff in there, good luck with that. I've also never seen the gym clean the machines, and the free weights are all out of order and scattered everywhere.

Adequate, but needs improvement:
-I get tired of janitors shutting down areas (sauna in particular) during business hours so patrons can’t use them. Do thorough cleaning AFTER HOURS, stocking and spot cleaning while open!
-Pool, jacuzzi, bathroom, lockers and sauna areas aren’t thoroughly cleaned at least once a day (AFTER hours). Bugs seen in the humid areas.
-Lack of equipment in the area for classes (chairs, bands, hand weights, balls). I’ve often given my equipment to people far older than I because I can’t stand seeing them spend hard saved retirement money on that gym membership and not get to participate in class.
-Jacuzzi foamy, need to have a skimmer available for patrons to use!

Very good LA Fitness location. Met a very interesting Chinese man. 70 years old but looks very young. The Tesla chargers aren’t working.. That would make this location unique. Sad.
The cardio set up is amazing. The jacuzzi has great pressure, but wasn’t clean. The gym goers were mixed ages, races and fitness level. Not the most exciting gym, but the vibe is very relaxed and calm. You can push much weight here. Came on a Wednesday afternoon. Have fun.

i came here instead of my usual LA Fitness because it was closer to where i was running errands and it was a huge mistake. i tried to start my workout with some cardio at the stairmaster and the first one wouldn’t start, i tried the only other open one and the entire machine started shaking. i gave up on cardio for the day and made my way to the weights - the weights rack is an absolute mess with so many of them missing, finding two matching weights between 20-30 lbs was impossible. smith machine catches and it facing the wrong way if you’re trying to watch your form. bathroom sinks were so bad i didn’t wanna wash my hands. the clients here walk around with no masks and the overall vibe of the men was off. girlies don’t come here, the LA in Alhambra on Fremont is amazing and the culture they’ve built there is so helpful on your fitness journey. Fitness trainers come check in and remind you to rerack your weights and clean up after yourself and give pointers- there’s always a friendly face. The clients are super considerate and safe and that’s exactly what a gym should be. this gym should take notes.
