The gym has horrible hours. It closes at 11 pm during the week, 10 pm on Friday, and 8 pm on weekends. How inconvenient is that? There’s gyms out there that are 24 hours for half the price with better, upgraded equipment.

I found a previous review to be interesting.
It’s true, the machines have been the same for over 16 years (since they opened!) it’s old and outdated.

A leg extension machine broke years ago. They never replaced it. Look at my photos and you’ll see the empty space next to the only leg extension machine they have.

I wouldn’t be surprised if LA Fitness goes out of business soon.

This location is not even close to clean. I had to cancel my membership 2 weeks after joining. Belonged to this gym years ago and was not a problem then. This time around, even with a "deal," I was paying the same to use this 1 location as I used to pay to use any location in CA. Worked out on 2/21 and woke up feeling sick the next morning. The following day, I was so ill it was scary. Hard to breathe, sore all over, fever etc. Wouldn't be so unusual except that everytime I used the gym, it was visibly dirty. Trash wrappers left around the weight machines, used wipes left all around them as well. I notice several people don't wipe off the equipment after heavy use, and the gym staff doesn't seem to clean it either. I was paying less for an upgraded Black card membership to any planet fitness location anywhere in the world. 1 reason I switched back to LA Fitness was for the pool. They do use too much chlorine in the pool, but apparently they need to use something else, because its not killing all the germs, though I'm not sure if I came in contact w something in the pool or the very filthy weight machine area, but I know I came in contact with whatever made me sick there. I live with 2 other people atm, neither of them are sick. If it was just a little cold, or if the facility wasn't so noticeably dirty, that would be 1 thing, but this is worse than when I had covid in 2020. I canceled my membership and was told I wouldn't be charged the annual fee or that it would be refunded to me if I was charged. I wasn't charged until hours after I received that email, so there was no need to initiate the charge. I paid for first and last month, but was only able to use the gym for 2 weeks. So far, I've lost 2 days of work/income from this. I hate LA Fitness and will avoid this place from here on out. They stated in their email that they did cancel my membership effective immediately...yet they couldn't prevent the $59 charge from coming out? They literally confirmed via email that I cannot use the gym, the same month I signed up, so how is it fair for me to pay for not just 1, but 2 mos, especially after becoming extremely ill??? It's so gross. Gyms want to save money by making the members clean... but obviously you can't rely on them to do it. At least have staff clean it once a day? Lord knows, LA Fitness closes early enough. If I join a chain gym again, it will be back to planet fitness. Cheaper, the 1 near me is open 24/7 and has hydro massage, massage chairs, etc w the black card membership (which is still cheaper than the cheapest LA Fitness price).

The monthly price does not match the quality of equipment they have. I have been coming to this gym since I was in high school in 2009, and it has been the same machines and equipment since then. There are a few treadmills that are out of order and other cable machines that are constantly broken. If you are not a member, I recommend going to PF, Crunch, and EoS. Because this LA Fitness absolutely sucks.

Canceled my membership for the gym and they still charged me for Pilates even though you can not do the Pilates without the LA fitness membership. Attempted to cancel the Pilates for a refund on the day they charged me and they gave me the run around saying that the two systems don’t “speak to eachother” and I would need to come in person to cancel. finally was able to go in person to speak to a manager since they are only onsite M-F only to be told that it’s too late to reimburse me for a Pilates membership I am unable to use because I no longer have an LA Fitness membership. Trash service and trash facility. The Pilates itself is mediocre at best. Oh and the “Manager” never even had the decency to come speak to me themself. Sent their little desk agent to do their dirty work. Such a disappointment.

The gym is a great place, the equipment is amazing to use and easy to understand.

My only problem is with one of the workers / janitors. I am not sure of his name but he has curly hair, is about 5’3 - 5’4, he is always on his phone and is extremely rude to the gym goers. He is always forceful with his actions instead of finding a way to say excuse me or finding a way to move around the gym goers. His attitude is very unprofessional

Mission grove location not doing well. There is never paper towels in the dispensers, and now they’ve removed two. Been this way for over a month. Showers are a bit gross. This is one of the dirtiest gyms I have ever been to. Men's locker rooms are constantly gross with garbage left everywhere. Showers have no privacy curtains. Showers are also filthy and look like they are rarely cleaned. Pretty sure there is mold growing in some of them. Toilets are usually gross and smell gross. While The workout area is usually decently clean there is no way to sanitize equipment after or before use. Weights are never racked properly and are everywhere. Treadmills seem vary outdated.

Sauna is always Broken in Men's Locker room and when it does stop working it takes them a long time to repair. Locker rooms is always dirty and not kept up. Went to check this location and was impressed that they had different type of work out classes. They even had a daycare for your kids while you work out. That was a plus for me. The restrooms felt a little outdated and the pool area smelled like nothing but pool chlorine, either poor ventilation or to much chlorine. This was my second stop that day at different gyms, checking out which one I would decide to keep in the long run. Very big inside and tons of equipment to use. Compared to Planet Fitness and Crunch, LA Fitness was the most expensive out of the 2 other gyms.
