Signed up very recently with my fiancé, we specifically stated we really like the Upland location. Only found out recently about the changes through word of mouth, an upgrade thatll be way more than we can afford. I’ve been a member for about 4 weeks and I’m really liking this gym. Ivan got me started on a fitness program and it’s helped me from coming in and doing random stuff like I used to at Crunch and honestly it’s been pretty helpful. Also they clean the gym pretty regularly which is nice!

In 2023, the local team made Upland LA fitness a solid experience. I signed up for the pool and the trainers. In 2025, there's disruption at the corporate level. Front desk and managers have angry training customers because personnel is removed without warning, replacements, or a plan--yet their billing continues! No-one has access to reverse billing charges. Avoid personal training at this location until the reviews get better.

Let’s please come together as a community & stage a peaceful protest against the changing of companies / rebranding. Rebranding is understandable but price increases of over $200-$250 in this community and economy is just completely unethical. This affects staff, members, and the community as a whole… can we please band together as a community to show the general disconnect between the company and the community? I have experienced good classes and friendly staff, however I do see a few issues. The workout room weights need a better organization and cleaning, along with the mats but I take my own. The route to the workout room is an obstacle course dodging many machines and is dangerous.
The one day I had an emergency at home and my husband wasn’t answering his phone. I asked the front desk three separate times to go to the upstairs bike area and I described his appearance. The receptionist told me no one was available and could help me out. I have never been at the gym without observing many people at the front desk area. So I am disappointed in their client service.

This gym is great but the only reason I’m giving it 2 starts is the lack of stair masters. They only have 4 of them. Stair masters are one of the main cardio machines in any gym but they only have 4 compared to their 20+ treadmills. I’ve rarely been able to use them because they’re all taken. Really bad business overall from this La fitness for the past 3/4weeks- was helped on the phone to set up an account with representative Aileen who was originally helping me retrieve two small refunds and to cancel and old account that should’ve been canceled at the beginning of the year. I’ve been getting charged on this account since January and was only asking for 2 refunds which Aileen said would be achievable… turns out a month later after phone tag and consistently hearing “our operations manager is not available “ I’ve now been accused of fraud and trying to “pull a fast one”. I’m located in Virginia they were the ones reaching out to me but I’ve been accused of fraud and I apparently only received “$300” worth of refunds. I’m going to be escalating this to next level especially since I’ve been nice every single phone call until today after being accused of fraud.

I had an extremely disheartening experience today at the LA Fitness Gym on 19th Street, Upland. I arrived at the gym around 6 am and was immediately warned by two individuals about a homeless man who was wandering around the premises. According to them, this person was carrying a large trash bag, behaving suspiciously, and even trying to peer into someone's car. They described him as creepy, observing women, randomly questioning people about unattended gym bags, and even witnessed him using the men's restroom sink as a shower. The homeless individual was over 6 feet tall, had a robust build, and appeared angry and potentially dangerous. I felt extremely frightened.

Throughout my time at the gym, I watched this individual persistently roam around, surveying the area. What infuriated me the most was when he nearly entered the kids' club area! Numerous customers, more than 20 of us, complained to the LA Fitness staff members. Their response was simply that he had paid for a day pass. It baffles me that the gym would prioritize a $30 pass over the safety and well-being of their loyal customers. Where is the common sense in that decision?

Later, while conversing with a friend in the restroom, I was explaining the situation to ensure her awareness and caution. Unexpectedly, a staff member overheard our conversation and emerged from a restroom stall, defensive rather than understanding the discomfort their decision had caused us, the loyal customers. The staff member went on to justify the situation, mentioning it was the second day for the front desk staff. While one bad decision can be understandable, it was disheartening that despite multiple customer complaints, they did nothing for three hours!! Not to mentioned, she was present when all the complaints were made. Furthermore, she mentioned that since there were no children in the kids' club, they saw no urgency to take action. Are they waiting for something terrible to happen before they respond? This entire experience has been truly disappointing.

I have been a member of this gym since 2019, primarily because of its convenient location, being just five minutes away from my house. However, things seem to be deteriorating. The maintenance is poor, with missing weights and handles for the cables since the pandemic started and not being replaced. Moreover, they have deliberately stopped airing Fox News and kept the TV turned off. I am left wondering what the reasoning behind these decisions is. I sincerely hope that the top management will address these issues promptly and effectively!

The gym is very good overall. I canceled my son's membership over a year ago. They kept charging my credit card. I just noticed and canceled again. I called corporate and they said they would cancel my son when it was supposed to have done yesterday. I signed up a few weeks ago. I got helped with my membership by a girl with long black hair. She seems like she was more into herself Then she was into helping me. This is my favorite LA fitness in SoCal that I've visited of the 6 or so other clubs I've been to, facility-wise. The layout is ideal for me. La Verne and Playa Vista would be my follow-ups. Staff is generally nice, the membership deals aren't great, with a hidden annual fee in the 2nd month, and it's usually a cryptic battle to cancel a membership, typical of most commercial gyms. But the app works well to scan in at the front. COVID-wise: I wouldn't recommend going to any gym unless you are fully vaccinated (2 shots, 2 weeks out+). Mask wearing is a mixed bag, but most people wear the mask below their nose and usually only clean the cardio equipment, so don't expect to lift with a bunch of Faucis. Overall, if your expectations are reasonable, you'll have a good workout.

I had been waiting for LA Fitness to open so I can start getting my life back to normalcy and was excited that they finally opened. I am shocked at how unprepared they are. I know there are a lot of people getting vaccinated and everyone is more relaxed about being around other people inside, but, come on, make an attempt to try to follow some of the CDC guidelines. They had 2 employees the first time I went (Sunday and was probably the first few days they opened) and 3 I saw the second time I went. Very few sanitation stations, very little signage explaining that masks are still mandatory. The most annoying thing is that NO ONE employed there is making ANY attempt to tell the all present a-holes, that believe masks do not matter, and are working out with NO MASKS at all. I personally do not care because I have been vaccinated but I still wear a mask and follow rules because I no not want to deal with another SURGE and they close down again. You would think management would think that too but so far, no, they do not care. I will consider maybe trying out another gym if it continues.

LA Fitness charged me for training sessions I could not attend. My doctor wrote 2 letters stating I could not use the gym do to total disability. They stole $280.00 from me. The facilities and equipment are just great, the same as many other LA Fitnesses. I give it 3 stars, because as most LA Fitnesses in the LA area, staff is not good. It's as if they hire low class people by purpose. The worst are sales people, then managers and finally reception staff. Occasionally they hire someone who is naturally decent and courteous for the front desk, but the person changes after while working within that environment. On the other hand, janitors and class instructors (not trainers) are just great. For the janitors, not being able to speak English has kept them from being corrupted by that environment and that they are typically more mature. For the instructors, they are just a different class of people and most very professional. The class are just the best. Occasionally you run into an instructor that is not good. Individual training that they offer is just waist of money. They get you into long and expensive training contracts that are worthless.

Buyer beware!!! When you sign a personal training sessions with 1 year contract, they don't verbally express the time period you can cancel the contract and how much you will pay the penalty, such as 50% buy out of the remaining contract, if you miss the cancellation period, which I think is only 6 days. Yes, I am legally responsible for the contract after I signed it. But, you cannot argue that it is not really up and up in business, if they don't also tell you about the cancellation period and penalty, knowing the customers are all absorbed in excitement, signing the contract to help them get fit. That's all I want you to be aware of, so you will not be another victim of your own enthusiasm.

The gym has just been remodeled and is now easily the best LA fitness there is. New rouge plates, a deadlift space, 2 new squat racks, a HUGE football field with tires, medicine balls, those football racks that you push across the field with weight on it, kettlebells, etc, all with the same perks of a normal LA fitness. Staff is always friendly, people mind their manners, and I’ve never seen any negative incidents here. Out of the 5 LA fitness I’ve visited, the Upland LA fitness is by far my favorite one.
