I truly fell in love with Lagree because of Lagree Underground. When I first started, it was incredibly challenging, but I kept coming back because of the amazing instructors. Mikeal and Noelle are not only super knowledgeable and friendly but also genuine experts in their craft. They always take the time to show you the right form and ensure you’re doing the exercises correctly, which makes a huge difference.
The workout definitely gets easier as time goes on, but it’s never “easy” , their sequences keep me on my toes and motivate me to come back every session wanting to do better than before.
Leaving LA and this incredible studio has honestly been really hard for me. Lagree Underground became more than just a workout spot, it felt like a community and a place where I grew stronger, both physically and mentally. I truly wonder if I’ll ever find another Lagree studio as good as this one. It’s a sad goodbye, but the memories and progress I made there will always stay with me.

First Megaformer class while visiting LA with my sister~It was 45 minutes and intense!. The exercise sequence was well-arranged and there were quite a lot of them. I recommend instructor Noelle she’s pretty nice and very patient with us as beginners.

Super Grateful for this gem <3...After having my first child, I took a long break from working out and honestly was nervous to start back up. I started Legree a month ago and I am impressed with the cleanliness of the studio and the supportive nature Mikael and Noelle provide. Even if the class is challenging, they take extra attention to make sure you feel great. Thank you guys so much for the environment you create <3

Lagree Underground is the best and most challenging Pilates studio I’ve ever been to - and I’ve been doing Lagree for over 10 years! I drive from the West Side near Santa Monica two or three times a week for classes - that is how good it is! The owner, Mikeal, is so knowledgeable about the workout and his staff are equally good. I always get a good workout here, no matter which instructor is teaching! Give yourself extra time for parking since it is WeHo!

If you are serious about your workouts , this is your studio. I’ve been doing Lagree for 15 years. I know all the studios and all the trainers. Do NOT listen to the reviews from class passers or irrational clients. It’s a serious class. If you come to this and you are on your phone , or you are dressed with private parts hanging out , or you have offensive body odor, you will be called out. Excellent teachers. Come if you want a hard , serious Lagree workout. Otherwise stay home.

I own a Lagree studio in Miami and I had the pleasure of taking a class with Mikael. He is the best. I’ve been doing Lagree since 2016 and I have been to many Lagree studios and he stands out from the rest. Great guy too!

I’ve trained with Mikael at Lagree Underground and can honestly say it’s one of the most professional and effective studios I’ve ever experienced. The energy, focus, and attention to form are unmatched.
Mikael treats every client equally, regardless of gender, background, or experience level. He’s direct, honest, and fully committed to maintaining a respectful and focused training environment where everyone can grow.
His team reflects that same high standard: knowledgeable, motivating, and always supportive. You feel challenged, seen, and safe in every class.
It’s disappointing to see negative reviews from people who weren’t even present, trying to twist the narrative. As someone who actually trains here, I can say this: Lagree Underground is the real deal. Come see for yourself.

This is months of hard work which starts by dressing properly to class and leaving my place 10 minutes earlier so I’m on time for the warm up — the exercises the class begins with so your body is ready to take on an incredible workout. There is no other class like MIKAEL’s classes and I am humble to confess that I have learned that discipline and dedication is how you show up for yourself. It’s the basics of self love and progress. MIKAEL is like a soccer coach who will take everything it takes to make you win all trophies. It’s more army style than other studios. I truly feel his classes are for elites and I like to believe I belong to them :) If you are ready to show up for yourself, you are ready for this studio!!!

Lagree Underground is one of the most professional, well-run studios I’ve been to. The space is immaculate, the trainers are all knowledgeable and friendly, and I’ve never had anything but excellent experiences.
I took several classes with Mikael; He’s a highly skilled instructor who takes his role seriously—he watches your form, motivates you throughout, and ensures you're getting a safe, effective workout. He’s always been respectful, professional, and approachable—especially toward women. Anyone who knows him or has trained with him regularly can confirm that.
As a business owner myself, I understand how damaging fake reviews can be—and unfortunately, that’s what I believe is happening here.
It’s disappointing to see baseless negativity aimed at such a high-quality business. These kinds of reviews typically come from people who disregard studio policies or have other motives that don’t reflect reality. Don’t let that noise distract you—this studio is the real deal.

Mikael is a master of his craft. He has helped me get into the best shape of my life before and after having a baby. He is a sticker about form so you don’t get injured and strict about showing up on time so you properly get warmed up. If you want an instructor that just cares about making you the strongest and best version of yourself you won’t find a better studio. Coming here is the best thing you can do for yourself if you enjoy challenging workouts and appreciate a passionate coach with integrity.

Easily the best megaformer studio in the area! Challenging classes (that’s the point). Form and tempo always cued well. I leave classes always learning something new. Head trainer is extremely professional, knowledgeable and tough. Don’t bring your bs here, they don’t play that game.

The owner’s attitude alone is enough to make sure I never come back. Rude, dismissive, and clearly not interested in creating a welcoming environment.
The machines are standard, nothing you can’t find at any decent Lagree studio, but the overall experience here was uncomfortable. Vibes are completely off. You’d expect better for what they charge.
There are far better studios in LA that actually make you feel like they want you there. Skip this one.

Hands down my favorite Pilates studio in LA! Every instructor here is knowledgeable, motivating, and genuinely invested in your progress. The owner, Mikel, is fantastic—passionate, welcoming, and truly dedicated to creating an inclusive and empowering environment.
If you come across any review that’s less than five stars, take it with a grain of salt. This place is the real deal, and sometimes people just don’t appreciate being challenged—or worse, they’re unfairly targeting a small business that’s doing everything right. Do yourself a favor and come see for yourself. You won’t regret it.

I’ve visited this studio a while back when I was visiting LA. I’ve been doing Lagree for many years now and have been to many studios. This studio will provide a challenging workout! The owner gave clear directions and was very kind. People who are complaining and leaving bad reviews are baffling. If it’s because of studio policy, then that’s a YOU problem. I’ve worked in fitness studios before and most places have similar late/no show policies. The owner was also very respectful and there were no issues (he wasn’t rude or creepy). If I’m ever in LA, I would definitely go back here to workout.

Honestly just a really uncomfortable vibe here overall. The energy from the instructor felt aggressive and unwelcoming from the moment class started. It’s one thing to be tough or motivating — this felt more like ego and power-tripping.
The way the instructor spoke to people during class was kind of off-putting, especially to women. He seemed overly focused on how people were dressed, even making weird comments that made a few of us uncomfortable. I’ve been to plenty of group fitness classes, and I’ve never felt this scrutinized before.
There are way too many amazing Pilates studios in LA to waste time or money at a place that doesn’t treat clients with basic respect. Would not return.

I’ve been going consistently for the past few months and the results speak for themselves: improved form, visible muscle growth, and a serious boost in discipline that’s impacted every area of my life, not just aesthetics. This is hands down one of the most advanced and rewarding workouts I’ve done in LA. You feel every single muscle firing & it is intense, satisfying, and borderline addictive. Every session pushes you past your limits and leaves you proud. I’ve tried all the instructors and they’re truly next level. It definitely takes a few classes to nail the form and flow, but that challenge is part of what makes it so empowering.

Owner is a narcissist who enjoys bringing people down and being unprofessional , using his power as the studio owner to power trip. Brought a bunch of friends here for my birthday to show them the studio after a good experience with another instructor and was dumb founded at how this man treats people. Listen to the other reviews , be warned and do not come here.

Tried Lagree underground today. Worst workout I’ve ever tried in LA. Mikael the proprietor is very inflexible. He won’t allow walk ins or last minute signups. You MUST make an account online before your first class. You cannot sign up friends. You cannot walk in late to class. You cannot move your spot in the class. He assigns you wherever he likes it seems. Also there is no phone number for the studio and emails are returned to sender.
I had never taken Lagree before, so the machine is quite foreign to me. He pointed at colored zones and wiggled handles. He said absolutely no modifying body positions. When the class started I was clearly struggling. His proprietary grip socks don’t account for being on your toes so I slid off the machine. He didn’t offer help or any guidance. Just told me to leave.
Long story short avoid Mikael. Avoid Lagree underground unless you are already familiar with the gear the movements and the class unless you prefer a hostile trainer and no guidance.
Long story long; I signed up well in advance of the class and wanted to bring a friend so I used a class pass to reserve a 2nd seat after his online system wouldn’t allow me to log out or make her an account, emails were sent back undeliverable and there is no listed phone number. The morning of the class Mikael messages me from his private cell, and his first contact is to tell me he is cancelling the 2nd seat for the class. I ask him please not to and that we will happily pay additional fees and work it out when we arrive. He says no. Make a new account or no class. I tell him fine but this seems hostile and try AGAIN to make my friend an account which isn’t possible btw. You cannot make a new account from a laptop only a phone and one account per phone. After much back and forth he sets up the account. I thought it was all a misunderstanding and try to move forward.
We show up early to the class. Sign the waivers, buy socks and water (he kept my cc on file btw) he gives the most cursory gesturing explanation of the machines says the class ‘moves fast’ and is nothing like Pilates. Sets us up on machines in different rows on opposite sides of the room and walks away. The class starts and I am clearly struggling with the number/color ambiguous movement descriptions. He offers no help. After only 5 minutes I get off the machine and go to talk to my friend who is also struggling and also not getting help.
Then suddenly he cares. I tell him I’m scared of falling off the machine and need some help and guidance. He says no. He says he can refund me but I can’t move to the machine near my friend and can’t sit in the room. I must go to the front waiting area or leave.
I’ve taken tons of different classes in LA and all over the globe. I love trying out new classes and testing new ways to enhance my fitness. This was not a remotely positive experience for me. I go to classes for guidance and oversight. I go to share the experience with friends, learn new moves, and have the camaraderie and energy of others all working towards their own goals. This was independent, hostile and frankly embarrassing.

Respectfully, do not listen to any review that is less than 5 stars. (ppl are too soft these days lol)
The instructors are incredible. You want effective toning & a genuine challenge? Lagree is it. The studio’s instructors are the best in LA. Incredible place to start & improve your lagree form. I bring my ultra-marathon friends to this studio & they absolutely love it. Any friend that I have ever brought to this studio ALWAYS asks to go back. ❤️
*It’s pretty obvious to be courteous & show up on time to a new studio/activity so that you can get a proper introduction to the basics. It’s also obvious that LA parking is horrific lol Make time for that.
*You are entitled to your own opinion about the studio’s owner, music, etc…. But the quality of every class is fantastic. Take instructor Noelle’s classes!

I joined Lagree Underground for 2.5 months during an extended stay in LA, attending 3–4 times a week while recovering from a lower back injury. Strengthening my core and lower body was my goal, and Lagree was the perfect choice. Despite being new to it, the welcoming and focused environment made it easy to learn and progress.
The studio itself is spacious, clean, and well-designed with parallel Megaformers to full mirrors—ideal for form and flow. Some reviews mention the staff being rude, but I completely disagree. They simply uphold studio policies and are there to support your workout—not to offer 5-star hotel service. You're there to build strength, and they’re there to guide you.
Michael, the head trainer, led a few of my classes—he’ll push you to your limits in the best way. His energy and professionalism are unmatched. Noel led my first class and sparked my love for Lagree. I kept coming back to her sessions. Jinni offered helpful corrections and positive feedback, and Sarah’s encouraging words mid-shake always gave me that last boost to finish strong.
I’m truly grateful my fitness journey brought me to Lagree Underground—it made me feel stronger, straighter, and more confident.

I was really looking forward to trying Lagree for the first time at this studio, but my experience today was frustrating and disappointing. I arrived right at 9:30 AM, the class start time, and was immediately told I couldn’t join because it was my first class. The instructor, who was also acting as receptionist, said it was studio policy for first-timers to arrive earlier.
I explained that I’ve worked out on a Lagree machine before, so I’m not new to the method—but that didn’t seem to make a difference. What’s more frustrating is that while I received an SMS reminder about the class, nowhere in that message—or during booking—was it clearly stated that first-timers must arrive 15 minutes early. That’s a really important detail to leave out.
Parking in the area is also extremely difficult, which makes their rigid approach even harder to understand.
In a city like Los Angeles, with so many fitness options, it’s easy to lose a new customer over a moment like this. A little flexibility and better communication could go a long way.

I have been attending Lagree Underground for over 6 months now, and I can say without a doubt that Lagree Underground is amazing, all the instructors are kind and friendly from beginners to regulars. Each class you focus on a particular muscle while still working the whole body, and let me tell you, no matter how many classes you go to, it never gets easy or repetitive. For all the people with anxiety (like me) it definitely helps you disconnect from the world for those 45 min. 100% recommended.

You’re in and out in 45 minutes, can check your form in the mirrors the whole time, and you really feel yourself improve each class. I’m so happy I found this studio. Horrible place and the owner is the rudest ever.
No professionalism whatsoever. Came to class on time and was denied because the instructor was just as rude. Emailed the owner and received the most unprofessional response. Basically letting me know how he does not care what the customers think, that it is his facility and that he can do whatever he wants.
When did quality become so overlooked and people with no appropriate education or training are allowed to provide services?

I’ve tried countless Pilates studios in LA and started Pilates many years ago in Chicago training with the best at Studio Lagree (Angie Lee).
Lagree Underground has far exceeded all of the LA studios. The instructors are unmatched and the method just makes sense. Mikael, Noelle, Jona, Jinny and now Stephanie who was the top trainer at Motivate are all at Lagree Underground so you’re getting QUALITY.
On top of that it really is a wonderful community to be apart of. You are challenged but you do your best and are always supported by the instructors.

My favorite place ever. Truly. I feel so lucky to live so close to Lagree underground and take these classes however I would travel far and wide to come here if I didn’t. Every instructor is exceptional and my body mind and life have changed so much since coming here a year ago! I wish I could say one instructor is better than the other - but I can’t. I get excited when any of them teach. The workout is hard - it’s not Pilates - and the strength/endurance I get to develop every class is just humbling to say the least. Took Mikael’s class and it was soo good. Pretty challenging which is what I was looking for. It almost felt like I was getting a personal training lesson / he would give super thorough corrections and actually made sure that each persons form was proper. So I appreciated that- as opposed to someone just giving a quick correction and then stepping away quickly he made sure that you understood correction and made the adjustment. Felt like I got an awesome workout and will definitely be coming back next time I’m in LA. Studio was super clean as well.

Lagree Underground has totally changed my relationship with fitness!
I've never been able to stick to a workout consistently until Lagree Underground. It really is the instructors and classes here that make it so worth the while and actually has me excited to go work out. Having tried other megaformer studios and other types of workouts, I truly believe Mikael and his team are the best of the best.
Here you'll get truly individual attention to your form and how you can grow your strength on your own timeline. When I did my first class, I was sweating bullets on the first 'warm up' movement and pushed myself hard to get through the course. You can really focus on and identify the muscles you are working in these small, slow movements and it is apparently very quickly the difference between good form and bad form.
Despite me needing to take multiple pauses throughout workouts, the teachers are super supportive about everyone working on their own pace and how you can adjust the moves so you can continue to build a strong foundation. My first week, I was struggling to do a push up. Week 2, I honestly felt the happiest I ever have in my life. The energy and positivity you get from this class is infectious! Week 3, I finally felt like I was getting the hang of certain moves -- and you really can measure how much stronger and better you are getting EVERY class. After a month, I can do more pushups than ever in my entire life, and I was even finally able to do a couple bear moves which felt impossible in the beginning. My body feels tighter, and I can't wait to see how much further I can go!
The music is energizing. Every day the workout is different, Mikael programs it so you're working out something different each time. I would give yourself an extra 5-10 minutes to find parking just in case. I have always found spots in the neighborhood parking across the street by Norton, but be wary of street cleaning on Thursday afternoons and Friday mornings.
Every trainer I have worked with at the studio is fantastic! Particularly love Noelle as she is SO kind, attentive, and really really positive and supportive. Would highly recommend beginners start a class with her or with the owner Mikael whose eagle eyes will ensure you're getting the best form possible. Plus everyone in class is so sweet and really loves the class and want to push themselves. As someone who has struggled with their fitness journey, Lagree really feels like a new safe haven for me to grow into my best self!

I love this studio and workout. It’s the first one in my life I’ve stuck to. What really sets it apart are: 1) The instructors, who are all super knowledgeable and amazing. But I have to shoutout Noelle - she’s so attentive and radiates positivity. If you’re new / beginner I would take her class!
2) The set-up. All the machines are lengthwise against the mirrors so you can really watch your form. I get really frustrated now if I visit another studio and they’re all arranged the other way (aka so that you’re just staring at yourself).
Get ready to sweat! If you’re wondering what the workout is like - I’d describe it as… focused on full body strength & resistance training.

I have been coming to this studio since it opened last April. I am glad that the owner Mikael really took his time in making sure to plan reopening. If you're looking for a place to go to during Covid-19 phase 3 and are not wanting to share equipment and avoid contact with people this is it.
Important note: if you're not familiar with the lagree method it is not traditional Pilates. Do your research and look at official lagree intro videos to familiarize yourself with the machine. The instructor will be unable to explain it to you normally due to following social distancing guidelines for instruction.
You will need to wear your mask when coming into studio and have your temperature taken while mast on and keep your mask on until you get to your machine.
Be ready to wake up sore af the next day, especially if you have taken a break over 3 months (as most of us have) but also be ready for some amazing results.
Make sure to bring your own grip socks or buy some at studio. They no longer due rentals due to guidelines. You're also responsible for cleaning your own machine at the end of the workout.
Class size ranges from four to ten people depending on how many sign up.
