Such a beautiful golf course and the nicest staff members. We played all 18 holes for our friend’s wedding weekend and we had a blast! I never played before so they gave a few tips overall- we tee’d off at 9am and I think we wrapped up by 11:45ish. It rained while playing but it cleared quickly. Sidney came around on the beverage cart and she was amazing too!

I wanted to love this course because the layout and conditions are nice, but unfortunately the policies around juniors are discouraging. Golf grows when kids are welcomed, yet this course makes it nearly impossible for families. Children are restricted from riding in carts and face strict limitations on being on the course at all.
In response to Lake Tahoe Golf Course’s statement noting that the incident involved my 15‑month‑old son, I wish to clarify that his mother was also present at the time.
Many golf courses across the country allow children of various ages to ride in golf carts, and I believe it should ultimately be the parents’ decision whether they consider that level of risk acceptable. Of the 200 courses I’ve played across the country. This is the only course I’ve ever seen such strict policies on children.
I would recommend Tahoe Paradise Golf 5 min the road. Much more family friendly!

Amazing Course and Service. We brought our group of 16 from Central Coast of CA. Had a blast on the course, great condition and the staff were perfect. Especially Mandi!!!!! She took great care of us. Will be back next year!!

Not a $120.00 course by any measure. It’s the only game in town and the staff is openly arrogant about that fact. Service with a smile is non existent from pro shop to bar tender to food service, all very poor attitudes. FYI- Be aware they also charged additional $50 for wife to ride along in cart !
“Ambassadors” on the course do nothing to push pace of play as it was a 6 hour round on a Saturday and had 4 separate groups piled up on multiple holes. The course itself is boring and not challenging at all. Anywhere is pretty to play in Tahoe but this course is not worth playing for any reason. North Shore has many much better courses, with much better atmosphere. I highly suggest you do not waste your time or money at this course, take a nice drive around the lake and play one of the many courses on that side of the lake that will appreciate your business and you’ll be much happier for it.

We held our wedding reception at the Lake Tahoe Golf Course and worked with Dave and Courtney throughout the process. From start to finish, they were a pleasure to work with and everything went smoothly.
We used their catering service, and our guests had nothing but great things to say. The food was delicious. The reception space was absolutely beautiful on its own, so we barely had to add any decorations. And with the added bonus of stunning mountain views, it made for an unforgettable setting.
I would highly recommend the Lake Tahoe Golf Course as a wedding venue. The team there is fantastic, and they helped make our wedding day truly special. Thank you, Dave and Courtney, for everything.

The course is currently in my opinion bad shape. Lots of bare spots on the greens, the fairways are mediocre at best and the tee boxes were not well maintained

We played on a Saturday morning at 6:00. Super important to get the day started off fast right? To set the pace for the whole weekend pace of play? Yeah well, that’s when the course decided to have all their maintenance guys out working on the course. We sat on two separate par 3 tees for 5 minutes waiting for maintenance workers to clear the green. And then it’s like they were following us, because they were literally mowing and rolling greens THAT WE WERE PLAYING ON for 2-3 more holes. It’s like the maintenance guys were the uninvited 4th to our two threesomes.
I left a wedge on 9 and circled back to get it. There was another group on the green and their carts were on the cart path, so I just swung a tight U turn a couple feet onto the green side rough. The long haired pro shop employee (who I’ve seen mentioned negatively on multiple reviews btw) came out and told me pretty rudely to keep my cart off the greens. When I asked him if a wedge had been turned in he wasn’t very helpful.
And that’s just the front 9. They were running sprinklers on the course while we were playing, including on #10 in the middle of the fairway WHILE WE WERE ON THE FAIRWAY. When we called the pro shop to tell them to turn them off, they told us to “just go around it, and skip the hole.” Are you serious dude? We just paid $120 for this crap.
Multiple tee boxes were in horrible shape and 4 or 5 tee boxes and greens had dead patchy grass and dirt/mud. Fun course overall, very beautiful surroundings. But whoever the course designer is needs to look at 9 and 18. Worst two par 5 designs I’ve ever seen. DEFINITELY not worth the $120 they charge in the a.m. And a $90 twilight rate is still highway robbery for this place. If it weren’t for the horrible experience the staff provided, I’d *think* about coming back here. Classic poorly run government facility.
Note: Drew in the cart barn was super nice and cool. He was the only positive employee interaction we had all day.

I will echo the comments of Richard Doud from a few days before me, the long haired guy in the pro shop has an attitude problem and lacks any kind of customer service skills.
The course is in crappy condition for the price, the greens are trashed, they did inform of 4 temp greens however another 5 or 6 are in such bad condition you couldn't putt on them. Tee boxes are in bad shape as well.
Not worth the money for all the above reasons stated, go to Geno or drive up North. If your considering this place spend the extra money and go to Edgewood and have yourself an experience worth your while, not something your going to regret spending your money on.

Our group booked tee times on June 7 several weeks in advance. When we arrived at the course, we were told there would be temporary greens on multiple holes. There was no notice of this in advance, even though there were emails sent to remind about the bookings. When asked about this, the course did not provide any partial refund on the booking to account for this.
The course itself was in horrible condition as well. There were many unrepaired divots throughout all of the fairways. The greens that were in play were still bumpy and uneven throughout.
There was also a wedding happening, which is of course fine. However, we were also not notified of this and found out on our own after we had already played 9 holes. By that point, the restaurant and club house were already closed, and there were no options for us to get food. Again, a by product of poor communication from the course.

We visited this course with a group of friends, but it was a disappointing experience. The golf carts ran out of battery, leaving us stranded. To make matters worse, they had a few holes with temporary greens, but we weren’t informed about this change. Typically, courses offer discounts for temporary greens, but we didn’t receive any. Additionally, due to a wedding, there were no food options available, leaving us hungry.
When we reached out about these concerns, no concessions were made.

like to start off by saying i am not asking for a refund or gratuity .
on 5-31-2025 our party of 6 , we had the worst experience with the representative that Lake Tahoe hired to showcase their multimillion dollar course and our first impression of the facility .
they have a long hair smart mouth , nasty horrible attitude man .
he made our visit very irreparable . Who ever hired that human is most likely the problem . if that person doesn't know when someone is a kind and warming and that is public orientated .
Now add this up on how much money we spent :
for 6 golfers , rented 4 sets of clubs & most purchased hats and shirts and golf balls . this doesn't account for the money in drinks we spent with the cart girl .
and driving range and also visiting with other golfers on the range that over heard our conversation and had the exact experience with him .
Sincerely : DISGRUNTLED GOLFERS
PS The course was fun and enjoyable

This course is a lot of fun, with a challenging course layout, Lake Tahoe Golf Course offers great on course amenities, a large putting and practice area with a driving range. They have restocked the proshop for 2025 for golfers of all age and skill level. Holes 1, 2, and 5 have been rebuilt around the putting green. Remember to repair your divots on the green, and seed your fairway divots. Some of the greens got hit with a harsh winter, but go have fun that's what golf is supposed to be.

This is a beautiful course, but every time I have been there the pace of play has been excruciatingly slow. Personally this completely ruins what should be a more pleasurable experience.
They should definitely increase time between tee offs or the Marshall needs to do a much better job keeping players on pace

If you love golf and playing it on an over booked course than this is the place for you. Management packs people on with no regard for pace of play. It's not uncommon to have two groups in front of you on a hole and two groups waiting for you to tee off. I've played it 3x's this year and it's been consistently over booked. Be prepared to wait 20 minutes at the turn. Marshall's have little effect on pace. The greatest 6.5 hours off golf in Tahoe. Packing the course and making $$ is definitely more important than the golfers experience.
It's a shame because the course is in really nice condition.

We were visiting from out of town and decided to try and hop in for a round of golf. We were able to grab a tee time and rent nice clubs easily. The man working was very nice and helpful and everyone working the course (maintenance) was also super nice too.
The course was in great shape, super green and fairways were great. The greens were also very well maintained (and fast haha). We were surprised to not see any Par 5s on the course but it was a lot of fun nonetheless. We will most likely play it again on our next visit.

I’ve played Lake Tahoe Golf Course twice this year. Once in late June and this weekend (Oct 22). I was very pleased initially when I play in June. Weather held up nicely for a Sunday and pace of play was good overall. Staff was friendly and the service was good. The golf course itself is challenging even for those with handicap <15 with great views and modest greens and fairways. The price to play on weekends is reasonable for the quality.
However this is a warning for those who hope to come to this golf course for an event or with a group larger than 4. I came here for a birthday celebration over the weekend, and we came with high hopes and excitement but by the end of the round, we were depleted and felt disrespected. We had a group of 6 guys and we had bought the tee times back to back. We also had called the pro shop several times to confirm we could all play together. They said we could over the phone and initially the starter said it was fine. By hole 2, the “ambassador” was hovering over us and telling us to speed up. By hole 3, he was asking us to let a group go ahead of us. Not a huge deal as we were a tad slower than rec pace of play, but then the ambassador kept coming up to us and pressuring us to hurry up which ruined the mood and made us feel rushed when we were maintained pace of play as we had separated into two groups. By hole 12, he made our twosome wait behind 2 more groups causing them to finish 20-30 minutes later than expected.
And what was even worse was that the ambassador even yelled at our friends accusing us for playing together as a 6-some and threatening to kick us out. To specify, by hole 3, we were not playing as a 6-some so it made no sense that at hole 12, my friends were being yelled at and threatened to be kicked out yet again.
This is not a prestigious country club nor even one of the best public courses I’ve played in NorCal / Tahoe region. I was astonished at the stark difference in hospitality and service I received from the two times I’ve played here. We came to Tahoe full of excitement and were giddy to play. Leaving Tahoe, we feel disappointed and disheartened. No golf course should make their customers who are driving over 4 hours feel this way! Just be warned if you plan to come with a bigger group.

We had our Tahoe Douglas Rotary Club golf tournament at the LTGC in September and it was a blast! Everyone at the club, especially Alex McKeen and Kevin Sommerfeld, made our event extra special. They were pros and really knew how to make the event run smoothly and ensure everyone had a memorable time. We would definitely encourage others to have their event, wedding, club gathering, or golf tournament at the Lake Tahoe Golf Course!

Pace of play was excruciatingly slow. 10 minutes standing around on each tee box. No Marshall in sight to help speed things along. I was nearly hit twice on the number one fairway by balls from the range. Number 1 is littered with range balls. Lots of ground under repair from snow. No room for error off of fairways as the brush and knee high grass swallows everything up. Unfair doglegs and creeks right at 300 yards, so even a good drive is punished. My worst round in years.

Had an excellent time at Lake Tahoe Golf Course on July 3rd. Wasn't going to play, but decided last minute after the day at the beach. It was $59 for 5:50PM Twilight with cart. Staff was nice, drinks were strong, and the pace of play on a packed course was pretty incredible. For it being closed due to snow and snowmobiling half the year, I was absolutely impressed that it looked better than most municipal courses in my area, although the only complaint is that people don't know how to repair their divots there. Gorgeous scenery. Only made it through 14 holes before tapping out. Once I saw the coyotes roaming freely and sun setting, I said Byeeeeee! Actually, my phone died, and my wife came to pick us up..
Oh, and bring your bug spray!

Best course in the Lake Tahoe area when you consider the staff, value and layout. You cannot go wrong when you play here. After the expert personnel check you in and announce your group over the loud speaker (often with a bit of humor) there is a welcoming par5 birdie opportunity. Locals know to use a colored ball so you can confidently cut the corner of the driving range white ball flotsam. An almost parkland layout until you reach a daunting par3 #6. Watch the wind here to carry the river and German brown trout or a beaver will have your ball as part of his dam! The back 9 is where this course shines Challenging holes 10-13 until it elegantly softens into scoring opportunities. Can you birdie the last 4 holes?! Two words abso-lutely!! How fun is that?!

Course was in poor condition. Greens were slow and bumpy with patches of dirt. The holes looked like they hadn’t been rotated in over a week with beat up lips and grass growing over the edges of the cups. Making putts was not a matter of skill, but a matter of luck — the ball bounced all over the place. As a golfer playing for score, this was very annoying. Course design left much to be desired as well.
All this in mind, though, I would like to point out the “value” of the course. With Lake Tahoe GC sitting at the ~$40-60 price point, it is significantly cheaper than other Tahoe courses. If you’re a recreational golfer looking to save $$$, it’s certainly a great option.
However, I would recommend looking elsewhere if your primary goal is to play an architecturally intriguing, well maintained track. I know Tahoe golf is expensive, but places like Coyote Moon, Incline Village, Old Greenwood, and Edgewood are far superior options from conditioning and design perspectives.

Just read last review about not safe for women !
This of course is ridiculous. I and my lady have been playing this course for many years . The staff has been and is wonderful . Kevin , the G M always is kind and considerate to all of those who play .
I understand people may encounter tough days for the staff as this course is played by a diverse group of people coming from everywhere with all types of expierence . We get batchelor parties , some who have never played before .
So when the staff needs to keep play moving , you are asked to keep up with group in front of you .
This situation has been told by both sides , the review is inconsistent with reality as , `This course is not safe for women `? Perhaps you should be a little more understanding as it is not always about you !
Just saying , exaggerating that you were scared is overboard .

Not pleasant vibe, not safe for women. See the other reviews about how they treat people on the course. You will get yelled at for sure by whoever is on the course, even if you follow 90 degree rules on fairways. The Asst Superintendent was aggressive and yelled at my wife, and when I complained, was told by Manager Kevin he basically believes his guy and knows he wouldn't do that. Not planning to go back here ever. Don't bother with this course, there are plenty others around the lake.

NOT SAFE FOR WOMEN!!!! Would have given 0 if allowed. Attended this course today for a quick 9 hole game with my husband. I usually caddy and drive the cart for him. Everything was going smoothly, until the 7th. I should have read the previous reviews on here about staff having issues with females. Husband noted one of the course staff had been following us and staring our way while smoking a cigarette, wearing a black beanie and sunglasses.
We drove across to our next tee off, and this staff member followed us. We were unsure if they wanted to talk or explain something to us, but they never approached even when we made eye contact so we continued our round.
As my husband went off to tee the 7th, this staff member approached me and began to yell aggressively. He had waited until my husband and I were separated to do this. He shouted that we had missed a sign that said to turn right, multiple times while approaching my cart. I was scared as this man was very aggressive and clearly had tried to catch me alone. I apologised for the error and drove quickly back to my husband. He followed until he saw my husband approach and backed off.
Other reviews on here seem to say the same things about an aggressive male staff member making women uncomfortable and even downright scared. We made a complaint to the assistant manager as it was Sunday and they said they couldn't do anything because this person's boss was not here!!! We should have called the police.
As we were leaving, we saw this staff member drive past in his caddy with a hose on the back and stare down our vehicle in the car park as we left.
We live near this course and never thought we'd have to experience something like this. We have asked a senior managed to call us, but by the looks of previous reviews nothing will be done about it. Ladies - Give this course a HUGE miss, dangerous behaviour that is tolerated apparently by management. I will never return.

Wonderful golf course. Spectacular views of the mountains and trees, and the river runs through it on a number of holes. You'll love it. Don't hesitate. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Great course. Beautiful views. Flat course. So flat the golf carts don't even have lock brakes. Had a great round and a wonderful time.

Beautiful course, great staff, amazing weather. Hands down would recommend, this course is peaceful and not intimidating at all. I recommend the carts but if you wanna stretch your legs and get some exercise it's just as good. Looking forward to coming back again

On 6/18/2020 we were so excited to play golf in Lake Tahoe.
We were on the third hole which is a Par 3 when we Were told by the Marshall Bob to let two men play through while waiting on the tee box for the next group of 4..the group ahead of us were one shot in.We could not of teed off if we wanted to.
We were stared down for two holes by Marshall Bob as he followed us as we played.
Wow 2020
It isn’t normal to be harassed and followed by the Marshall.
The General Manager Kevin tried to make it right by offering food and drinks however we declined due our treatment on the course.
Dignity cannot be bought!!!!!!
Don’t waste your time especially if you are a woman.

This place is a cute 9 hole course.
We saw 7 brown bear the day we played.
Cost is reasonable and we walked the course and had a great time. Does not play very fast so just take in the scenery and enjoy.

Don't play this course unless you have a foursome or a five some! Not very polite to out of towners! Very much a muni course and not worth the money...good luck if you have to play here!

Beautiful course, but challenging. Some would call it soul crushing. Gorgeous view as you play 16 and end up at the lake for teeing off on 17 and 18.

AMAZINGLY HONEST STAFF! GREAT GOLF!
I accidentally left my range finder in my cart and went home without thinking about it. I came back the next day and before I could even ask for it, one of the employees (his name is Brandon), came up and handed it to me. I guess he saw me drive off without it and recognized me when I came back the next day? Wow. Incredible integrity!

Great course, a little expensive and a lot of greens with roped off areas, one green closed down and hole moved to the fairway. The course marshals tend to harass the golfers quite a bit. Would have given 1 star but gave 3 stars because of the incredible beauty of the course but the rest of the experience was incredibly frustrating and annoying. Oh yea and the pro shop needs to work on their funky little attitudes.

Beautiful Golf Course and decent price. Only issue is the Marshall really should be speeding up people who are playing extremely slow. It took us 5 and 1/2 hours to get through 18 holes because the people in front of us a foursome was playing so unbelievably slow. When you have that many people and it's that much of a backup you really should be playing ready golf which they were not doing. And this was at Twilight none the less. I will say staff is incredibly nice though. Would come here again but hopefully during a time that is less crowded since there's no one speeding up the process.

Back nine is probably the prettiest nine holes I've ever seen. Greens a bit beat up, but winter caused that. DONT FORGET BUG REPELLANT (like me...🤬)

Very playable course with a fine staff at a reasonable price. Some long daunting par fours. Depending on the winter, the greens are either great or a bit rough.

- a course that manages to look like a muni and Edgewood Golf Club at the same time
- decent pace of play
- possible to accidentally drive to green on some holes
- the air is so thin I’m hitting P Wedge 170 yards
P.S. make sure to ask for natural spring water instead of purified drinking water when the cart girl comes around

I have to preface this review by saying that this course is special to us. We played it right after getting married in 1996! It’s a scenic layout and fun to play. So we were looking forward to trying it out 23 years later. I also understand that they had a very long, rough winter here and the course just opened. Having said that, it was disappointing that for $49, I didn’t know until check in that there were 4 temporary greens (#17 played 65 yard or about the temporary tee box on one par 4, cutting 120 yards off the hole. Oh, and they scheduled a shotgun to start 2 hours after our teetime (this ended up being incorrect, the shotgun started after we finished but we rushed to finish based on this incorrect information). Conditions were just awful on fairways, greens and tee boxes, and of course, you couldn’t putt on the temporary greens. I’m just disappointed that I paid $49 for these conditions and wasn’t given this information at the time I made the online teetime.

Temporary greens, 6 of them, kind of a pain but to be expected after the late snows. Really a nice course when it's in good shape. The staff is excellent! The scenery is gorgeous! The creeks and streams we're running at capacity making me wish I had a telescoping rod with a rooster tail in my golf bag! :-) I'll probably upgrade to a four-star next time I visit in a couple months. Good price good people beautiful scenery. Nice course design not overly challenging. Just an all-around nice course!
