I love the classes at Left Coast Power Yoga. I don't take the power classes, but take the Candlelight Flow and Yin/Yang classes that are unheated. Since they follow the heated classes, the space is still warm and assists in warming up the body, but without overheating.

It’s been a while since I stepped back in to take a class at Left coast power Yoga and I don’t know what kept me away so long. Rex Rodriguez is the Saturday morning, rocket yoga, instructor, and it was gratifying and uplifting. A great workout with intentional movements taught by a gifted instructor. Ako is a great place for community and really lives up to its philosophy of having each student follow their practice.

I love taking the Rocket class here so, so much—Liz and Rex are both inspiring, helpful teachers and really upleveled my yoga practice so quickly.

The lobby is a really nice place to drink tea and collect yourself before class and the padded floor is now a non-negotiable to me for trying out trickier yoga moves. My fave spot in the Bay <3

I’ve been a fan of yoga for years having practiced at home off and on for years and through a college class. I was hesitant to join a real studio because of scheduling and price. I did a bunch of research and decided to check out Left Coast Power Yoga and I’m glad I did!

Firstly, everyone at the studio is super friendly from the instructors to the front desk staff and even the other students. It doesn’t feel elitist at all, everyone really wants to see you do well and encourages you to meet yourself where you are.

Second, there’s a variety of classes, not just hot yoga. Left Coast offers Pilates, strength and conditioning and a gentler yoga class called Yoga for Longevity. It’s pretty easy to find a class that you’ll enjoy and that will fit in your schedule.

I just started with Left Coast Power Yoga but I already feel like I belong there. I’m glad I moved out of my comfort zone, I don’t think I could have found a better place to begin.

How can a studio with a clever name like this not be extraordinairy! The intimacy of the space especially appeals to me, and the fact that teachers will gently assist and correct as needed. The studios are squeaky clean and they play just the right tunes. My favorite is the Reiki - Restore and Relax class on Sunday nights, a perfect end to the weekend and start into a new week. AND, all the other classes are also fab, in their own way!

I love this small neighborhood yoga studio for the quality of its teachers, the varied schedule, and the helpfulness of the support team. As an older yogi, I personally appreciate the Yoga for Longevity and Flow & Restore classes taught by Deb, an experienced (and very fun) teacher. Whatever your level or extent of your interest, definitely check out this studio. It's the real deal.

I feel privileged to live such a short distance away from this studio. This spot has been my go-to since 2018--at least when I attempt to practice more regularly--even before I moved to this neighborhood in 2020. Rachel and her team consistently creates community through their warmth, inclusiveness, and diversity of classes and styles to fit one's needs.

I appreciate that they host thematic events and workshops to foster more connections (e.g., family-friendly classes, kirtan!, AAPI night). I need to sign up for more retreats...

I love this friendly neighborhood yoga studio. Unlike some other yoga spots in town, there's no pretense or rarefied vibe--just excellent teachers and a lot of different classes to choose from. I especially love Lyz Keating's Rocket Yoga classes, a fun take on the Ashtanga primary series. This is my go-to local studio!

I rarely write reviews, but I feel compelled to speak up about my experience with Left Coast Yoga.
10/10 instructors, 10/10 space.

I was charged for a month-long subscription at a time when I was dealing with a serious mental health crisis. I reached out to let them know, transparently and vulnerably, that I’m going through a deep depression and that therapy—not yoga classes—had to take financial and emotional priority.

Instead of showing any human understanding or basic decency, they responded by offering more classes and an extension on the subscription—something I explicitly said I neither wanted nor could use. There was zero accountability, no refund, and no real empathy—just a sales-forward response completely detached from the actual content of my message.

The classes themselves were fine, but this kind of customer service—especially in a space that claims to be rooted in mindfulness and wellness—is hypocritical at best and exploitative at worst. I left the experience feeling more dismissed and unseen than when I arrived.

Classes at Left Coast Power Yoga are transformative, thoughtful, and well-organized. All of the teachers are mindful of different abilities and body types, knowledgable about anatomy, safety, and yoga itself, and the studio just generally has a great vibe (both Grand and Laurel). I have been practicing yoga for years, and have taken a yoga teacher training program, and it was really interesting how many things finally clicked once I began practicing at Left Coast. The teachers are very skilled. Thank you!!

I am completely new to yoga, and decided to join the beginner series with my partner as an introduction - she's very experienced but this was my first class.

The class was wonderful. It was very easy to follow along, the instructor Angela was amazing, supportive and knowledgeable, providing the perfect introduction in my opinion. She touched on both the physical and mental aspects of yoga practice, and I'm hooked.

This class taught me the importance of stretching, meditation, and core strength for overall well being, particularly as we get older. Thank you Left Coast!

After years of inactivity and being a self-professed "unathletic person" I decided it was time to start moving my body more, and I feel so lucky to have found Left Coast! The power yoga classes are just challenging enough to push me out of my comfort zone without feeling like I'm punishing my body. There is so much variety among the different classes and instructors that I feel like I get something new out of every class, but always in a warm and welcoming environment. I've especially enjoyed classes with Patricia, Catherine, and Mike N, but have yet to work with an instructor who wasn't wonderful!

These days I don't practice much power flow yoga but I loved my month at Left Coast. I was very impressed with Malka's classes. It is also hard not to feel loved by her joyous heart.

Left Coast is an absolutely amazing yoga studio! Most classes are warmed to around 82; initially I wasn’t sure if I’d enjoy this but I love it. Instructors are warm and friendly, giving clear cues on how to get into the poses with the right alignment, and without hurting yourself. My favorite teachers at this location are Deb and Malka - Deb teaches slower Alignment Flow and Flow + Restore classes and Malka teaches Power Yoga, which is more of an energetic vinyasa flow. Also love some of the newer teachers, like Zach and Malika. Definitely check it out! They have a great new student special - first month of unlimited classes for $75.

I've tried a number of yoga studios in Oakland and Left Coast is hands down the best. The teachers are fantastic, guiding us through unique flows that get into your body in ways that those cookie-cutter power classes at chain studios don't. The studio at the Grand location is also smaller so there are fewer students, making each class feel intimate. I love the community I feel at Left Coast, I love that we laugh together during class, I love that the teachers incorporate breath work and varying types of yoga into their classes... I just love everything about this studio. 10/10 would (and do!) recommend.

I'm a busy mom and doctor and cannot say enough great things about this studio, the instructors, the retreats and the special events. The owner, Rachel is "the real deal" and is super approachable, humble, funny and inspiring. Over the past three years or so since I've been attending classes, I've developed an appreciation of the culture she's cultivated with so many diverse instructors and class options.

There's no risk of getting in a rut at LCPY because the classes are continuously evolving to meet the needs of students. I really think there's something for everyone here. This is a cozy yoga studio with extremely loving teachers and all around good vibes. There is a full range of options with gentle classes as well as vigorous classes. Each teacher brings a unique experience, which makes classes feel unique every time. The signature power class is difficult but was accessible for me even as a beginner because of the modifications and gentleness offered by the teachers. I have been with the studio for a few years now, and I have seen a ton of progress in my flexibility, strength, and form. Teachers often ask what you want to focus on and build sequences with that in mind, and are good at giving gentle support, encouragement, and feedback to help you grow. The space is small, but the small studio space adds to a feeling of connection and warmth with the community. You get a truly grassroots experience. All in all, this is a wonderful locally-owned business that brings me peace.

This is, hands down, my favorite yoga studio I've ever been to. I am in Oakland for a month and signed up for the one month package. I've had the chance to take classes from 6 different instructors and have loved EVERY SINGLE one. The energy of this studio is exactly what I need when I do yoga. Down to earth, non-competitive, allowing one to focus on oneself and one's practice. The power yoga allows for a hard class, but it always feels wholesome. And the instructors always provide options for all levels of yogis, from beginners to advanced practioners. Thank you Left Coast Yoga. I really look forward to seeing you again next summer!

Left Coast Power Yoga is my new favorite studio. They combine heat and intentional breath work, with dynamic movement, creating deep stretches and challenging movement sequences. I come from a diverse yogic background, but since motherhood, and moving across the country I have struggled with finding a studio that inspires me, feels good, and that is close to my home. Left coast is centrally located on Grand Ave, just a few blocks away, and has a welcoming and calming vibe that I felt the first time I walked through their doors. I leave sweaty, and grounded, and smiling. What more could you ask for?

The Grand Lake studio is my favorite spot in the Lake Merritt area. I usually attend the morning classes and I like that the instructors vary day-to-day (on a schedule) so you can choose to go to morning classes with instructors you connect with or, if you prefer variety, you can go every morning and take something different from each of them. All the instructors I've had have been knowledgeable and the classes are well-paced for all levels with a good variety of music. It can get crowded during the weekend as the studio is on the smaller side, but even so, everyone is friendly and adjusts accordingly, and the instructors are good at adapting techniques with limited space in mind when necessary.

I've mostly never liked yoga, but did it because I knew it was good for me. With hesitancy of crowding my favorite classes, joining Rachel's classes has changed my experience entirely. I love her focus on stretching my entire body, and as a result, I've significantly reduced shoulder and neck pain. Can't recommend her enough. I'm thankful to instructor Ana Szaky for introducing me to the studio!

Left Coast Power Yoga is a great place to do power yoga! I love the soft floors and the cool teachers. From their website, "anti-microbial Zebra Mat floors provide ½ inch of firm cushion under the knees." I swear, this makes such a huge difference.

I really like the rigor of the classes, and the teachers are great. The floor is made of some kind of material that’s really forgiving, which feels so nice on my wrists and knees. I like that most of the classes are heated, and that there are mirrors - it has helped me improve my form quite a bit.

I have been going to Left Coast Power Yoga for a year now (off and on!) and I will be keeping it up! It is a very welcoming atmosphere. I learn a lot about yoga each time I go - breathing, chants, poses. It is warm but not too hot :) The classes are mostly full, but there is always space for one more last minute. Its also very good value.

I've been going to 6:45am classes at the Uptown location for the past year and I really enjoy this studio. I'm looking for a little more strengthening in my yoga practice and I get that with Left Coast Power Yoga. I've practiced elsewhere and while I'm usually pretty open to what each instructor teaches, I just get more of a workout and good feeling after an early morning at Left Coast. I'm more comfortable taking classes with the same teacher but I enjoy that each week and class my instructor brings fresh ideas and experiences to the practice. Both locations have a ton of instructors so you have lots of options for who you want to learn from. I've taken a few classes with other instructors and feel confident that everyone I've worked with is top notch and creates a safe, inviting space for all levels. That means you can be more selective with what times of day work for you and know that you're going to have a great experience with whoever you work with. I've been fortunate to live very close to the Uptown location so my preferred 6:45am classes have been easier for me to attend but I'm about to move to the Oakland Hills and I still plan on attending those classes, regardless of the much longer commute.

Left Coast teachers are serious about yoga without being serious in attitude. I love how knowledgeable all of the teachers are, and most classes I leave having learned a new pose, breathing technique or chant. I was looking for a yoga studio and I read positive reviews about left coast. I’ve taken several power yoga classes and gotten to work with several instructors. I’ve really enjoyed all the instructors so far and I am happy with the studio. The classes are at a nice pace and there are corrections given if you are open to them. I particularly like when the instructors guide you through having an intention for the class and then stress this throughout. I appreciate the way I feel post-class by having the focus around intention (not all instructors, but I’ve had this a few times and it’s great). The Grand studio is cosy, but it works really well as a yoga space. For early morning classes, parking is super easy (love this feature). Check them out!

Aside from having a super convenient location and early morning schedule, 2 things that are very important to me, I really appreciate that the caliber of the teachers is consistently strong while also diverse. I always leave feeling like I had a really balanced practice with a good mix of strengthening and flexibility. Music is typically mellow enough so as to not be distracting while keeping the pace lively. As much as I like the heated space, I tend to put my mat near the door for just a little bit cooler of an experience and that works for me, even when the class is packed. I really like left coast yoga! Most of the teachers there have fun, challenging and different sequences week to week which I really appreciate. The vibe in the studio is very much so on individual practice, a challenging physical practice but also incorporates spirituality. I do think the classes and studio itself is becoming more popular so the classes fill up and it could get a little too tight in there so they may want to consider a larger space in the future. Overall, really love the classes and location.

I've been to four advanced classes and have nothing but great things to say about Halyey Ebersole and Whitney Walsh. Often, advanced classes leave me unsatisfied. Teachers claim to focus on alignment, but often this means that they remind you to keep your knee over your ankle or to tighten your belly. I want actual instruction to help me feel where I am erring and to appreciate how to improve. I was to learn, not just get a workout. That's what I've found at Left Coast Power Yoga--after a year+ of searching for it in the Bay Area!

I've gone to five classes at Left Coast, and I've really enjoyed all of them. They are truly power yoga classes - I got a good workout at all of them (even the "slow flow" class) - but the teachers also gave great alignment cues. It's tough to find a power yoga class that combines strengthening and alignment - often, I feel that I either didn't get a workout, or that I just went to a pilates class rather than a yoga class. This has not been the case at Left Coast - they offer a perfect mixture of strengthening and alignment.

Love this place! I've been attending for a couple months now - it's a pretty new studio so the facilities are very clean. A couple points:

- Price: It's better than other studios in the East Bay area, especially if you consider purchasing multiple class passes or monthly passes. It's also nice that you're able to split multiple class passes with another user.

- Facilities: Like I mentioned above, very clean and new

- Instructors: Varies since there are so many; attend a few different classes and find which one works best for you. I've found that some are more fast-paced than others, some are more spiritual than others, some are more 'intense' than others.

- Capacity: Most classes are about 12-15 people in my experience; it's rare that it feels 'too crowded.' I attended a class this morning that was about 5 or 6 people and it was great.
