Best gym I've been in a long time. There are tons of different classes to choose from and the staff is really kind and helpful. Feels like a second home already, even though I joined just a week ago 😄

I really like Lifetime because it offers a lot of bang for a lot of buck. I frequent the facilities closest to me in Arizona (shoutout to the Biltmore and Fashion Square locations) and used Lifetime La Jolla while I was there several weeks for vacation. It’s great to have the opportunity to work out in a familiar facility even when away from home.
The La Jolla Lifetime is nice enough and the location is great – but you can tell they inserted the gym into a space that wasn’t originally designed for it. Make do with what you got, right? Locker rooms, Life Spa, and studios are upstairs, while Life Café, weight floor, and strength/cardio spaces are downstairs. I took a GTX here – Sydney ran a great class.
There was no way they were fitting a pool in the space, and the roof wasn’t designed to accommodate one – understandable, though I think that would be an awesome addition. Still, this facility even lacks a wet suite with spa and cold plunge – pretty disappointing.
My biggest gripe is that the weight floor is too jammed together. The equipment isn’t spaced out enough due to the space itself being too small for a full weight floor. Machines and cables where you should really have some wiggle room to move about are place awkwardly close to other machines or right in the middle of pathways. The free weights are racked in no specific order, so you have to scan for a minute each time you want to find the appropriate dumbbells. And that’s even if they’re racked correctly.
The Alpha, GTX, and general cardio areas are full size, and that’s awesome. But this facility should either downsize those spaces and reconfigure the weight floor to make better sense, or simply get rid of some of the weight machines so that there’s more room. There's a lot of room for improvement configuration-wise in this facility.

I came in as a guest with my friend, who’s been a longtime member and had spoken so highly of the facility. I was genuinely excited to check it out. Unfortunately, our experience at the front desk completely soured that excitement.
When we arrived, the front desk associate was helping someone else, so we waited patiently. Once she turned to us, I was ready with the member QR code and mentioned I had a photo of my ID (which has been accepted here before). Instead of handling this in a professional or courteous manner, she turned to my friend and scolded him in a condescending, passive-aggressive tone—saying, “You know better. It has to be a physical ID.”
Not only was her tone unnecessarily rude and inappropriate, but her claim was also incorrect we’ve both seen her and others accept photo IDs in the past. The entire exchange felt more like a power trip than an actual enforcement of policy, and it left a really bad impression.
If the facility has changed its rules, that’s fine but there’s absolutely no excuse for speaking to paying members or their guests in such a dismissive and unprofessional way.

Make sure you bring your physical credit card if you’re purchasing a $75 one day pass because this luxury gym won’t take mobile payment. In fact, the option to purchase a one day pass on their updated website has disappeared. It soured my Sunday morning a little, but that’s okay. This gym seems to be doing fine with their ongoing boomer members paying $300 per month.

Life Time is great! I come here 1-2 times a day and I absolutely love it.
I love the pool, the machines, the squash courts, hot tub, treadmills, massage chairs, etc.
I'll never go to any other gym.
They also offer an array of classes, and up to 150+ a day.
They have a spa, PT, a chiropractor, etc. available on site as well.
I highly recommend checking this place out!

I don’t know if many people can say they love their gym but I really do love my Lifetime gym. I almost exclusively do yoga and the small group Pilates on the reformer but my husband and daughter use and really like their weight lifting and aerobic area. My primary Pilates instructor, Maria is phenomenal and always pushes me while making my workout fun. Olga is also amazing and a standout barre instructor. Kimberly and Jen lead fabulous yin classes, such good and soulful stretching, along with positive vibes. I’m always graciously greeted, especially by Daryn and John and Melissa, the massage therapist at the spa is one of the best massage therapists I’ve ever gone to. Thanks to everyone there for making me look forward to going to gym 😊

Called to transfer my membership and when I asked for the price the operator kept telling me I was going to have “sticker shock” and didn’t even give me the price listing. I am a founding member of the Charlotte lifetime since 2017 and reserved my membership a year before the club even opened its doors. Extremely disappointed with the response I got from this location. I own my home in Charlotte as well as La Jolla and was taken back when the operator took the liberty of assuming my financial situation. I have been a loyal member to lifetime for a long time but will be taking my business elsewhere. I highly recommend you guys vet your operators and review your front desk phone calls. I am beyond disappointed.

I’m a member of bigger, newer, better Lifetime out of state but was pleasantly surprised with LaJolla. It is right in the village. You can really get any range of facilities and experiences at these gyms. I didn’t take a class but they had the studio space, equipment etc would expect. Locker room was pretty good. It doesn’t have the “extras” or pools, pickleball etc so not large and fancy but was pretty nice. There is a small spa too but did not use. Thanks for the visit!

I am overall happy with the club. However, patrons regularly text & otherwise use their phones while on machines, sometimes tying up machines for up to 15 minutes. I have raised this issue several times without results. It can be extremely frustrating.

The main elevator at this location has been broken for over 3 months and instead of fixing the elevator, they moved the front desk. As someone with a handicap, this is a huge inconvenience that is making me re-consider my membership at this location after being a LifeTime member for over 10 years. I also don’t think that this is ADA compliant considering most of the handicap parking spaces are near the main elevator. They have zero awareness for how this might be affecting their less able bodied members and they don’t seem to care even when it’s brought to their attention.

The absolute rudest people in any gym I have ever been to. They think highly of their little tiny gym, our LifeTime in Cary NC has a rock climbing wall, indoor and outdoor pools with water slides, this tiny strip mall gym is so small it pales in comparison.
We have been members of LifeTime fitness since 2017 and have never experienced the rude, self righteous attitude that this LifeTime location has.
Ended up going to a gym we are not members at and received stellar service and got in for FREE. LifeTime is so different than these jokes of people claiming to be "from corporate"
We spend a ton of money with the LifeTime Gym membership, two separate personal training contracts, plus money spent daily on food/protein drinks.
I just got off the phone with the actual LT corporate and she (Melissa, corporate concierge) and she confirmed that the email I referenced did indeed exist and I will be getting with the owner, Bahram as she said he loves to hear from members.
Here is the article that went out to all members and employees explaining the travel policy, they claim to never have heard of it :

It seems they making seniors go on a waitlist. They advertise they accept Medicare but limit the hours seniors can participate and then put seniors on a wait list. No sure yet but sounds like age discrimination. Hope this all gets worked out. La jolla is a wonderful and beautiful place. And the ugliness of any discrimination should not be tolerated in such a beautiful city

Was a longtime member but this location got greedy so our whole family canceled. They didn’t seem to care about losing the business either. Compared to other locations, you get way less for extremely high membership fees that we were told are ALWAYS subject to change ($295/mo per person at the time of writing this). I’ve been to multiple lifetime locations across the country and I can’t justify the price of the La Jolla location. I also find it odd that our business wasn’t appreciated and zero effort was made to retain us.. despite being loyal members for years.

Pretentious gym, nice and clean, but not offering the value for the price as other LifeTime locations do. No pool/outdoor area, no cold pool next to the steam room. The place is about a quarter size of other lifetime gyms and it is priced higher that most too. Much better choices out there. Also, be careful, their “month to month” has a trick. If you cancel it at any moment- they charge you $250 for another month for no reason.

If you've been to any of the other Diamond Life Times' you will notice this is missing a lot of amenities. The location is small by comparison and does not offer half the amenities you would expect from a Diamond level club. Its' also probably worth mentioning that Diamond doesn't really mean anything anymore as it seems to be broken down by how much you pay in dues rather than the level of the club that determines access. So if you've been a longer term member at another club this is something to be aware of.
The gym itself is very clean and the locker rooms were spotless. The allotted space is well filled with useful equipment and all were in good working order.

Absolutely thrilled when this gym opened. Great equipment and facilities. Staff are great. Six squat racks. Unfortunately, while they claim to have a mask policy, it’s never enforced. Staff wear them, but are instructed not to harass their posh clients.
Come on folks, a mask is a pitifully small inconvenience to be able to open things up again. The gym staff shouldn’t have to play mom.

I am THRILLED about this! I am a Lifetime member from Nebraska and Arizona and when I moved here in August I was told there were no LT's planned for the San Diego area. Someone in Nebraska didn't get the memo apparently. I had cancelled my membership and lost hope of finding a replacement once I got out here and saw my options. I was literally just walking around La Jolla one Sunday and walked right past the registration area. I had to ask several times if this was the same LT as all of the others. I am highly anticipating the opening of this facility in December. It is in the perfect location in La Jolla, it will offer its members top of the line customer service and amenities and it will not disappoint. I am still pinching myself that it will be here soon. Thanks for making my California move that much better LT!

1. See a commercial about new Lifetime Fitness opening in La Jolla.
2. Go to website to find out more info - exact location and pricing. No pricing plans listed.
3. Fill out form to get pricing emailed to me.
4. Receive email. No pricing plan info included. Email says this needs to be a phone conversation.
5. Delete email. Mental note not to do business with company that requires high customer effort & has friction-full experience just to get pricing.
LF could have...
➡️posted pricing even if wide ranges on website
➡️had questions included with form on website, so pricing could be included in email
➡️had chat option on website to get pricing quickly without crossing several other channels (email, phone)
⚡I don't want to give you my phone number this early in my exploration.
⚡I REALLY don't want a dozen or more missed calls from a phone number I don't recognize (thus won't answer) OR a voice message that needs a follow-up phone call (more customer effort).
⚡I REALLY REALLY don't want a call reminiscent of a 'timeshare' pitch to get simple pricing.
LF, you can read this and get defensive, categorize me as 'not the kind of customer you want', make mental excuses.....OR realize there are many opportunities to improve customer experience with your brand AND make improvements.
