On November 2024, I stopped by this Lifetime location early in the morning. I’ve visited this gym dozens of times with zero issues, and I’ve always been a big fan of Lifetime in general. I paid for the top tier access for ALL the gyms across the United States.

The experience is usually great, and the staff at most locations are welcoming.

But this morning was different.

When I checked in, I was immediately questioned by an employee who said she was the manager. She asked if I lived in the area and the way she asked it genuinely shocked me. Not only was her tone rude, but it also made no sense considering how often I’ve been at this location.

When I asked her why she felt the need to question me like that, her answer shifted as she became very nervous as someone who is lying. As a former Detective with seven years in law enforcement and now a full-time entrepreneur who has managed over 200 employees, I can read people very well. The change in her tone was obvious once I challenged the question. She then told me that “not a lot of people have access” to this specific gym because it’s the highest-tier club in Lifetime.

I’ve never once been asked this at any Lifetime location.

She went as far as asking how long I was “in town,” at which point I shared that I have homes in California, Miami, and now Puerto Rico and walked away. No paying customer should ever be spoken to like that.

To Lifetime corporate:
Please train the managers and staff at this location to provide the same level of customer service that the Folsom location gives every day. Businesses serve their clients not the other way around.

I have a large personal brand with millions of followers, and instead of broadcasting this situation publicly on my channels, I’m choosing to address it here so this location can improve. If corporate wants the name of the manager involved or more details, I am more than happy to speak.

I’ve also heard from several associates in the area that this is the one Lifetime location where many people feel unwelcome because it used to be a high-end country club. That reputation is not good for the Lifetime brand, a brand I still love. But until things improve, I now drive an extra 20 minutes to the Folsom location, where the staff is truly A+.

I've been really impressed with the staff and grounds. Still a work in progress, but major progress being made most weeks. Still missing a cold plunge.
Otherwise awesome equipment, staff specifically Ashley, Sydney, Brittney, Joe, really great professionalism from everyone, and the number of staff here is incredible. Really makes the club feel well taken care of.

My original review was taken down, but I’m back to share it again this time condensed. The other negative reviews speak for the experience you should expect.

As previously mentioned, I had been a Life Time member visiting various locations and taking note of how those locations delivered consistent value with amenities, hours, and service. Folsom and Roseville, for example, feel more complete and polished.

At Arden, my experiences had been mixed every visit. Positives for Life Time as a company include a great steam room and sauna in the locker rooms, reliable towel service, and staff who step in when needed.

From my visits at Arden Hills, the facility still feels unfinished and I am not sure they will be ever be done. During my first, second, and third visits, I saw a bench in the locker room taped off as “Not Secure” but it has since been fixed. Amazing. Construction zones were present, and when group classes overlap the noise carries as friends of mine who take classes here have mentioned this continues to be an issue for them. Food prices still feel high for what’s offered, and at check-in I’ve personally experienced some less-than-welcoming interactions with staff.

One choice I still don’t understand is why, with so much space available, this location didn’t include an indoor spa in the locker rooms. At other gyms with lower membership pricing levels those amenities make a big difference, and the absence here stands out.

Membership pricing still feels out of step with what’s offered right now. Arden has shorter hours (5 a.m.–10 p.m. weekdays, 6 a.m.–9 p.m. weekends) compared to Folsom and Roseville (4 a.m.–midnight daily). While construction seems to be progressing, the overall experience still doesn’t match other Life Time clubs I’ve used. I still believe dues should reflect what’s actually available until the facility is fully ready, and the price should come down.

They expect you to pay manhattan luxury gym level prices for a constant construction zone and to share a small old dirty pool with the local high school swim team. The pricing makes no sense, the other Life Times in the Bay Area are even cheaper. Make it make sense?

Really expensive and closing at 9 PM are a joke for this price point.

Extend weekday hours to 12 AM and weekend hours to 10 PM closing time AT EARLIEST.

Stop pushing ppl out of amenities before closing time.

Lifetime Arden is a complete letdown that fails to justify its premium pricing. The facility is unbearably loud with incomplete renovations despite being "open," forcing members to pay full fees while navigating what feels like a construction zone. The golf simulators are outdated for a brand-new location, there's no basketball court or cold plunge pool (with no plans to add either), and parking is already a nightmare. Gone are the days of member perks like restaurant credits at Arden Hills - now you're paying $20 for cocktails with zero benefits. You're essentially paying luxury prices for a half-finished, overcrowded gym missing basic amenities. Save your money and go literally anywhere else until they actually complete this facility and justify these outrageous membership fees.

Every time I walk in, Scheick’s right there with a smile. He’s the kind of guy that makes the gym feel comfortable, even when it’s packed and hectic. Somehow, he always finds a way to keep things moving smooth and still makes you feel like he actually cares. From helping with lockers to answering quick questions, he’s on top of it.

Regional Rate:

The monthly rate simply makes no sense when you consider general socioeconomic demographics of Sacramento. It makes no sense why the sign up price for this gym would be comparable to the LTs in Manhattan, NY or DT Chicago.

Illogical Hours of Operation:

It also makes zero sense why Roseville (that costs significantly less) can stay open till 12 AM everyday, yet this location closes at 9 PM. Quite frankly, at this price point, there's almost no reason it shouldn't be open for essentially 24/7 coverage—not everyone has flexible, predictable schedules and may only workout in the later hours of the evening.

Strictness with Closing:

The staff is also extremely pushy / rude in pushing ppl out of amenities (like sauna or stream room) before the closing time. I've never experienced this at any other Lifetime—most others I've been to are not this pushy and are respectfully lenient of guests leaving as long as they're out the door by 15-20 minutes after posted closing.

Final Thoughts:

Quite lacking in amenities too. If the Roseville location isn't too much of a longer commute, I'd recommend saving your money and going there instead.

This new location has potential but as a former Lifetime member from another state I have to agree that the current club is definitely lacking for the current monthly rates. I’m optimistic that when the remaining renovations are completed it will be comparable to other locations. It probably would have been more ethical if they would have charged a reduced rate in the interim or offer other perks to those who signed on early prior to completion of all the renovations. Overall I’m happy with the areas that have been renovated so looking forward to future improvements.

I agree with Howard, this facility is no where near nor ever will be comparable to ground up build Lifetime. An exuberant amount of amenities are missing and yet the prices is $349 a month? Absurd. I have more amenities at In Shape and pay $65. NO VA or senior discount. The country club was not accepting members for years prior to this renovation so capacity is in question here. Such a shame, the property was by far much more beautiful focusing on tennis and pools prior; it is not a wellness resort as described. I have belonged to Lifetime in Colorado and Nevada one of the first members for both of those new builds starting back in 2008 - paid $79 - military rate and left off 2016 at $165 in Vegas.

Disregard the nonsense reviews. I'd recommend that if you're considering Life Time Arden that you pay no mind to them.

It's certainly true that membership rates are at a premium level, however, if you find value in quality and feel confident that you'll have the time to make it here then you won't be disappointed. I've maintained memberships to a variety of gyms and fitness clubs over the last 25 years; Life Time Arden is the best place that I've ever worked out at and it isn't even close.

The club really does offer everything one could ask for: high quality cardio and resistance machines, cables, free weights and benches, and so many of each of them you'll never be left waiting to use equipment.

The locker rooms are stunning, really. Beautiful new sauna and steam room, private showers, and roomy changing areas. The recovery section on the third floor is terrific with aqua massage, cryotherapy, normatech compression, and more; I'm really looking forward to recovery days to relax but also keep my workouts on track.

With all of this, plus pickleball and an Olympic size pool on the way along with an outdoor club area coming too I could spend a good part of my day here. With that in mind, it's well worth the membership rate. Five Stars easy. I can assure you that I do not work for Life Time and have no affiliation, this is simply an honest review from a very impressed new member. I'm really glad to have found this club and am looking forward to coming here for hopefully years to come.

Special acknowledgement to the staff and management who have clearly and obviously worked tirelessly to open the club, no easy feat! Everyone has been very friendly, polite, and helpful, I've definitely noticed and very much appreciate it, well done!

This gym is excruciating to be at, in the mornings. They run GTX and Alpha Conditioning at the same time. Both instructors have microphones, and their own music blasting on top of the house music. Wearing headphones doesn't help, the classes are just too loud. This is easily fixable by not running both classes at the same time, or better yet, making a full wall around the GTX area. I will update my review if this issue gets fixed.

Always friend staff. The kods love the pools area and it is kid friendly. The snack shack when we went was out of a lot of items and the water jug wasn't working. It was a little annoying but overall a good experience

Howard Knudsen - After reading your review I’d like to offer some perspective

1. Construction is actively underway—exactly as communicated.
Lifetime has always been transparent that this facility is opening in thoughtfully planned phases. Given the extensive renovations required to modernize the former country club—which suffered from years of deferred maintenance—some projects will naturally take longer. But the end result has been and will continue to be worth it: each completed space reflects the highest standard of design, materials, and functionality in the industry.

2. Unmatched variety and quality.
Far from being “barely worth a walk-through,” Lifetime Arden offers the widest array of fitness classes and programs in the Sacramento area, catering to every level—from casual members to serious athletes. The instructors are not only talented but deeply invested in helping members achieve their goals, which is why so many choose to spend hours here, not just minutes.

3. Best-in-class facilities where construction is complete.
The locker rooms, steam and sauna facilities, studios, fitness floors, and group training spaces that are finished are all truly top-tier—on par or beyond any you’ll find in Sacramento. And the issues you pointed out, such as the unsecured bench in the locker room, have already been addressed and resolved.

4. The club is evolving intentionally.
Yes, you noted people in swimsuits outside the Pilates studio. That’s because it’s a resort-style health club designed to blend indoor and outdoor spaces. Ironically, you also suggested putting a hot tub there—which would involve even more people in swimsuits in that very spot.

5. Details matter—and they’re being handled.
Small items like an open toilet paper dispenser (quickly remedied) don’t define the experience. What does? The state-of-the-art equipment, sparkling new interiors, robust class schedule, and a community of happy, engaged members who recognize they’re part of something exceptional.

6. It’s easily the best gym in Sacramento.
Perhaps if you had spent more time exploring the offerings you would have seen firsthand the quality, passion, and value that set Lifetime Arden apart. It’s not just better than In-Shape or Natomas; it’s in a league of its own, with a vision for a luxury athletic resort that’s already taking shape and will only continue to exceed expectations.

Maybe come back when you’re ready to experience everything this premier facility has to offer? In the meantime, hundreds of delighted members like me are already enjoying Sacramento’s finest fitness and wellness destination—and it’s only getting better.

Glad our old run down Arden Hills is remodeled and looking good! The remodel is great so far and glad it's so nice.
Lifetime is doing a great job renovating and working as fast as they can to accommodate the members. Lifetime is a huge company with many locations and that usually will be a slower process but worth the wait. That also means we will have the best of the best - because they have money.
Reading some of these negative reviews from past members is not good because we need to remember what we had before Lifetime bought Arden Hills. Lifetime bought pretty land but a large POS that needs everything renovated and I mean everything.
Remember...some of these reviews could be competitors when so many details and pictures are posted.

The price we pay for Lifetime is almost exactly what we paid at Arden Hills without a food minimum of 150.00 a quarter.
It equals out about the same and we have a much nicer club now.

I’ve been going to Lifetime Arden for a few months and it’s nice to finally see it come together, it’s a great place for someone like me trying to stay active in my later years. The pool and stretching area have really helped my back, and everything is clean and well-maintained.

I’m giving four stars because the music can be a bit loud and peak hours get busy, but overall, it’s a solid gym. The locker room service is spectacular-One young man in the locker room even helped me retrieve my bag when I dropped it—very kind and thoughtful. Moments like that remind me this place has a real sense of community.

Was looking to sign up with myself and the family because it’s local but half the place is still under construction and don’t think it’s worth the price. If Roseville weren’t so far i'd definitely become a member but right now myself and the family will stick to sac states gym. Price is insane for half a gym!!!

I went to the new Life Time in Arden and I LOVED it! It has such a great feel to it. It felt like an old-time country club, but with all the great amenities I’ve come to expect from the many Life Times I’ve been to. I know once they’re finished, it’s going to be the crown jewel of ALL Life Times. Well worth the wait. Thanks, Life Time!

Walking into the brand-new Life Time Fitness in Carmichael for the first time felt like stepping into a dream—one built for champions, by champions. As a former Olympic athlete, I hold high expectations when it comes to training facilities, staff professionalism, and overall atmosphere. This club doesn’t just meet those expectations—it far exceeds them.

From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed not just as a member, but as family. The staff here aren’t just employees—they are passionate motivators, wellness mentors, and genuine human beings who learn your name, your goals, and your journey. That connection has created something rare: a second home where I feel seen, supported, and inspired.

The equipment is top-tier, thoughtfully laid out, and impeccably maintained. Every machine and weight station reflects an understanding of athletic precision and performance. But what truly sets this place apart are the classes—they are intense, dynamic, and expertly led. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or just beginning your fitness journey, you will be challenged and uplifted in equal measure.

The cleanliness and attention to detail in every corner of the club is unmatched. It speaks volumes about the pride the Life Time team takes in creating a space that is not just functional, but energizing and restorative.

Every time I walk through the doors, I feel an emotional spark—a reminder that health is a lifelong journey, and this is the perfect place to honor that. Life Time Carmichael has reawakened the fire in me to become the healthiest, strongest version of myself.

To the entire team: thank you. You’ve built more than a gym—you’ve created a community of excellence, resilience, and heart. I am deeply grateful and proud to be part of it.

This isn’t just fitness—it’s Life, elevated. 💪🔥

Honestly, super underwhelmed. I never thought to ask if it was still under construction because for what they charge, I just assumed it would be fully ready. Definitely not the case here. It’s not ready and no one ever told me it was so I guess that would be my fault by their standards. I read the other reviews about the surrounding facilities and their current state and I agree. Even the pilates room smelled like old carpet and old lady and from what I was told it used to be an old ballroom. The hours are way shorter than Folsom or Roseville, not what I expected, and overall the gym feels dated even though it’s supposedly newly renovated. Husband and I had a drink at the bar and it was actually pretty good, but $30 for a beer and a cocktail? Seriously? We love Life Time, but $30 isn’t worth the price at all. It feels like a step backwards and sideways. I can get a cheaper drink for twice the size in midtown, off Alta Arden, or Carmichael for less probably people watch while I’m at it. After reading the other negative reviews, I have to agree with them. This place just isn’t it and they are not ready, we were even asked to check in three times from some system error. I also noticed one of the glowing reviews was written by someone on staff (Scheick). It would be great if Life Time Arden were more transparent because it does feel misleading to see employees reviewing a club they represent. It doesn’t bring integrity to the brand; most places have strict policies against this. Also, if they can send a club alert about the 4th of July, why not send one in app and via email telling everyone it’s still an active construction zone with only one pool?? I would also like to reiterate I was not informed this gym was still under construction. I’m severely disappointed with Life Time Arden.
