Looks like a fair amount of us "outsiders" have had issues with the staff/policies regarding Pickleball events.
As a TOURNAMENT PLAYER in the PPA and Lifetime tournaments, I COULDN'T AGREE MORE! It's easier to get through Customs in Algeria than LT Fitness!!
Food options are DREADFUL and BATHROOMS ARE WORSE!! Try getting from the "bottom" courts and back before ur match starts!! Many players/guests are OLD, imagine the potential "issues"!!
Let's hope the new facility in East Lake (suburb of San Diego) will be better.
Problem is they won't be having any tournaments there as far as I can tell..
Tournaments GREAT!!
HOST FACILITY SUCKS!!

Five Stars for Ashley G! I have been a member at Lifetime in San Clemente for several years. I love the classes but I have been wanting to focus more on specific areas (glutes ect) Ashley approached me while I as walking out of one of my classes. She was kind, friendly and warm with her approach. She offered me a free intro session. At first, I was hesitant because I have a very busy work schedule and I usually squeeze in a class last minute, whenever I can. However, she was very flexible with scheduling and offered me a 5pm slot which worked out great. As a very busy business owner, it can be difficult to find classes that work with my schedule because most of the classes I like are catered to people who can only come during work hours. I just finished my session and I feel great! She listened to my needs & created a routine that was lower back friendly since I have horrible back issues. We ended up doing a full body workout and she gave me a really good assisted stretch at the end! Thank you Ashley!

Great gym but they literally have worst parking in all of San Clemente for a $300 membership awful planning and development. I’ve literally driven here and then left at least a dozen times since joining because there was no parking🙈

Changing to picked ball... getting rid of a couple tennis courts... Not fair to current tennis players needs... Parking is a nightmare Saturday mornings and Weekday evenings. Tennis players subsidize pickleball tournaments soon to be two... where access to courts is limited and access to club a nightmare due to tournament... ambience is different from a year ago. If you like annoying pickle ball noise... then...

This is a place that is more worried about appearances than their members.
Terrible parking for the amount of members. The cafe served a smoothie that both times had moldy ingredients, likely the cacao.
During special events members are treated poorly and no offset is provided for the lack of available services that are closed to the members.
The cost is way too much for the amenities provided, everything is extra.
My wife and I are done.

Expected much better service quality. Would not recommend this location until training staff oversight improves.

Looks like a nice gym, but it is NOT. Trainers are extremely unprofessional: mine conducted a drug deal in the middle of training, constantly interrupted training to flirt with female members, frequent scheduling errors, and was pulled away for other duties mid-session.

Was charged additional fees without proper consent through misleading paperwork at end of session.

Multiple calls to resolve billing issues resulted in runaround - management wouldn't address concerns directly and kept referring back to the same problematic trainer.

Management appears unwilling to address clear staff conduct issues.

This is a 5 star place, with 2 caveats. First, parking is woefully inadequate for the amount of members. Additionally they often have special events. Secondly, the front desk staff during the day guard the place like you are entering a military base. That said, the facility itself is large and quite beautiful. The workout area is spacious, the locker rooms are clean and nice, the pool area is large and was uncrowded when I was here. They serve drinks and food at the pool. The cafe is also quite good. Overall an impressive facility.

I attended a PPA tournament at your facility last week to support a minor participant and encountered extremely unprofessional staff conduct that created a hostile environment throughout my visit.

The staff consistently displayed condescending and authoritative behavior, treating tournament participants as subordinates. Every interaction felt confrontational, with staff members adopting a scolding tone that was both inappropriate and disrespectful. This superior attitude made what should have been a supportive sporting event into an uncomfortable and stressful experience.

Beyond the staff's hostile demeanor, several policies compounded the poor experience. I was required to download your mobile application and create an account solely for "liability purposes," which appears to prioritize data collection over genuine legal protection. Additionally, while outside food and beverages were prohibited, your facility offered only bar beverages with no food options available for purchase, creating unreasonable conditions for tournament participants requiring sustenance during extended events.

As someone attending solely to support a young athlete's tournament participation, I found the staff's treatment particularly concerning. The hostile environment they created was unprofessional and entirely inappropriate for a facility hosting youth sporting events.

I am providing this feedback to highlight serious deficiencies in your customer service standards and staff training that require immediate management attention.

The facility is good, but why am I forced to install the App and create a login when I am just here to watch the PPA games, on top they lied to me when I asked why I needed the app, she said it has waiver that I need to sign, after creating login she said go, I asked where is the waiver?

No response...
I asked you mentioned I need to sign the waiver. where is that in the app?
As usual nothing and she said you are good to go.
why??

They do not accommodate the paying customers. making you sit in the sun, Shuttles taking long, walkways are too small bumping into people, worse venue to have a tournament at. PPA needs to reconsider

We’ve been here for a week at the PPA event. We have an athlete we try to feed well and they do not allow outside food into the facility. They aren’t willing to open up their cafe to the public and their only food option is a $15 burger or hotdog. The only healthy option is a small cup of pineapple or watermelon.

If it is a PPA issue, then please let me know what you are doing to address this and I will remove this rating.

Also, found it somewhat annoying that they required downloading the lifetime app in order to gain entrance into the facility. At least if you are going to collect my info let me buy good food or bring my own in.

On the positive side, the courts are beautiful and they take great care of them and the grounds. Just don’t like that it isn’t easy to feed an athlete well. Of all places that should be committed to supporting healthy eating for athletes, it should be a fitness place like Lifetime Fitness.

The place is very clean, and the bathrooms are great. The daycare is the only thing it has going for them, the best employees are assigned there, while everyone else is mediocre, especially if you have a problem. If you do, don’t call for resolution.. they just hang up on you.
The food at the pool is overpriced for a couple of frozen things they pop in an oven.
The gym itself is not worth the price of the membership.
They now host events that take priority over memberships, even though we pay an arm and a leg. Just goes to show that money is more important than their guests.
Very disappointing.

I’ve been a member for years —probably longer than anyone still working there—and I come back from being out of the country for three months to find my account canceled… all over a tiny, lingering balance. I definitely planned on handling it when I returned, but nope, they shut me down. Why? Well, why not take the opportunity to nearly double my monthly fees? I mean, tennis is cool and all, but $600 for access to tennis courts, a weight room, and a pool? Seriously? You can play tennis for free and get just as much exercise.

Speaking of that weight room… $600 a month for *that*? I mean, sure, it’s a gym, but it's just like every other weight room I’ve been to. Nothing special. In fact, I’ve been going there for years and they STILL haven’t figured out how to sync up their TVs and most of the equipment with Bluetooth. At those prices, you’d think they could hire an IT guy—or at least someone who knows how to make a Wi-Fi connection work.

As for the pool… yeah, it’s nice, but honestly, it’s not worth $600 a month. You’ll feel like you need a couple of babies just to fit in—it's very family-oriented, which is fine, but not at that price, lol. Here’s the kicker though: I could pay the day rate at the Waldorf Astoria—a five-star hotel where you actually feel like you're at a resort—and for the same price as Lifetime’s monthly fees, I could go 17 times a month and still spend less.(Baby Free)

So, yeah, Lifetime. You’ve managed to take what was once a convenient, decent option and turn it into something that’s barely worth the hassle. Congratulations on making the experience as impersonal as possible, while inflating the costs just enough to make me feel like I’m being taken for a ride. Keep up the great work, though—I'm sure your new business model is working wonders… for your bottom line.Cha Ching. The place is full of retirees so I guess you will be fine.
Get an extra star for the employee that always let me use the ball machine for free and try different racquets.

I joined to use the pool only. It’s never that easy to grab a lane due to kids swim lessons taking up 5 lanes. 👎🏼 People come to the pool to run business calls on speaker phone turned all the way up. A few guys pace around on speaker phone almost every time I’m there - very rude. Fins are hard to find because people steal my size and take them home in their bags. It’s not worth the $$ when you can swim at Ole Hanson or SC aquatic center.

DO MOT GO TO THE SALON TO DO YOUR HAIR BY JESSICA!!!! She completely destroyed my hair. I had sent her photos of what I wanted many days prior to my appointment and she consistently said it was no problem. She then asked me at my appointment if I wanted highlights or balayage and I said balayage. I told her I have OCD and I can’t have orange hair. She told me many times it was no problem we will do ash.

I have never had my hair done balayage in less than 3 hours. And that’s what happened. The entire time I was mentioning this was really fast. She repeated she was “ diligent” but then told me how many other appointments she had that day and was doing hair for the money.

She then took me to rinse and put the “ gloss” that claimed it was the toner. She didn’t leave it on my hair, she rinsed it out the same moment she put it in. I asked her where the toner was and she said she already put it in.

After repeating the no orange look and telling her I had an event the next day, I wanted waves. She styled my hair and told me she was done. Their lighting in the salon is extremely dim and not realistic lighting.

She charged me for a full balayage and style. I DID NOT GET A Balayage. it was half highlights.

When I got home, it was orange. I thought maybe the lighting in the salon made it look bad so I waited until I got home. I cried in the mirror and called salons near me to see if they can fix her mess. When I texted her I hated my hair she said I can go back in a week to redo it. Why would I have to go back to fix the mistake that should have been done correctly in the first place. When I told her I hated my hair she proceeded to admit to not doing a balayage because she didn’t feel comfortable leaving the bleach longer. First off that’s a technique that clearly she had no idea how to do. Second, if you didn’t feel confident to do my hair tell me prior so I don’t waste my time and money.

I had to go to another salon. They told me she really destroyed my hair. She didn’t let me lift, then she knew her mistake and covered it with a dark toner to make it look like she didn’t screw up. So they bleach washed me, put a new toner and it still looks orange. So now I have to wait 8 weeks to fix it.

The only positive thing about this experience was Brittney. She is the team leader and she was able to resolve this and refund me some of the money.

Jessica is money seeking. She rushed my hair to get done all her appointments. She covered her mess with. Dark toner. And for someone who admitted to having ocd, she doesn’t care anout anything. She is the worst stylist I have ever been to in my life. I texted her asking for my tip money back that I left her, and she pathetically kept it knowing her work was trash.

Zero stars. She doesn’t deserve to do hair.

My son and I were at our first PPA Tour (Pro Pickleball Association) event at this facility and we were underwhelmed. There was basically no disabled access. The food options were akin to dining at a recreational softball/baseball field. When I tried to find a better option I went to peak at the restaurant on site and was greeted with a rude "May I help you?" by a female security guard. I asked about the food options. She said, "This is for members only." I said "Is the only area for food near the courts?" She said, "Yes." My son ordered a roast beef sandwich and had to wait while they were bringing more out. When he returned to his seat and opened the sandwich it was not roast beef, but a tomato pesto sandwich. The seating area was reminiscent of my junior high school's quad, a concrete amphitheater, only there was astroturf. Not great for people like us who have back issues. I saw one elderly gentleman struggling to get up the stairs with the assistance of 3 people. There were no handrails in sight. I don't know how anyone in a wheelchair could attend this event, let alone use the restrooms which were outside the venue in trailers in the parking lot. You have to climb high precarious steps to enter and at the end of the day the toilets stopped flushing and there was no water to wash your hands. Very disappointing.

This place is the absolute worse regarding PR. Went here for the PPA Pickleball Tournament after buying tickets. After entering the facility, we looked for somewhere to buy food. They only had one stand serving hot dogs, hamburgers and sandwiches. When asked what other options there was, we were referred to their cafeteria. We were denied entry into the cafeteria because we didn’t belong to Lifetime. This was a public event with thousands of people attending. The management had a perfect opportunity to present the club to all new prospects with everyone being there already. Instead, they prevented anyone from entering the cafeteria unless you were a member already. How stupid is this? The ignorance and shortsightedness convinced me and my party that we would never consider joining this club. They restricted everyone (over 1,000 people) from coming into their cafeteria if you weren’t a member. The reason given is that they didn’t want to disrupt their existing members. Are you for real? You had over 1,000 non members there, a perfect opportunity to present a more professional and welcoming environment. Instead you antagonized and acted insanely. Never, ever will we ever consider joining this elitist club.

I’m a fan!

Great tennis courts, excellent pros and helpful pro shop. It’s been a pleasure working with that team and the courts are always in good condition.

On the gym side, the facilities have everything I’ve needed and the personal trainers are awesome. The area is a bit on the smaller side, but everyone that I’ve been around has been kind about space and the area you/they need to work out in.

The cafe and bar areas are chill places to hang out in and the team always makes great drink and food.

The front desk has always been helpful and courteous. I paused my membership for a month as I traveled and had no issues with it. The pause or cancelation goes into motion a month after your request, unless you have a medical reason I believe. Which is pretty typical from the gyms I’ve been to. Then when you want to activate again, let the desk know and it will start up the day you would like it to.

We have been members of Lifetime since 2021. We loved this club and its instructors, and we came a couple times a week all through 2022. Unfortunately, after raising our dues 15% last year and paying a “one time” $200 upgrade fee on Dec. 2022 to expand our access more clubs (the new Irvine one in particular), I woke up in 2023 and discovered that we no longer have access to this club unless we “upgrade” again. There was no email warning us about this, and no phone call. They simply cut us off and let us figure it out on our own. When I contacted the club they told me the manager would call me when she got in. She never did. So basically, this rating is because we “upgraded” and then lost access to 1 of the 2 Lifetime Clubs in Orange County. After being so loyal, it now feels like we got scammed. According to the staff I spoke with, they are intentionally trying to shed members right now by squeezing them financially. As their CEO said in a recent AXIOS article, “we don’t want to have as many members. Like a country club.” Alienating customers is literally their business plan in 2023.

My experience was for late summer 2021 (can't say for later if things change) and it was the cleanest location and spa sauna yoga classes are great!! I would definitely join if you have the mooolahs$ to throw at, live closeby definitely visit this, but as it is I'm in Anaheim Hills so the drive is too far for gym. my home gym room will do. There's the older woman Manager there (I forgot, I'm bad with names) who is full of love, light good positive energy it makes it great to come just to see her :) Idk if she's still there.
Less star for price but I think you're paying for the parents with kids for their practically free day care. You don't see/get that at Equinox or other gyms. I'm single and I don't like paying share for other people's kids. Like I don't like how people with kids gets tax breaks and $$$ comp govt. money per child and help from singles from our municipal taxes, fees and what breaks do we get???? we get near nothing back but what?? We're healthy so we should pay to help the sickly on Obamacare. Pay more taxes $$$ to help the poor parents with kids who will be their backup insurance ?????? Lol. Corporate likes singles because they can work them to death.. because we can't use "I got sick kids /family" excuse but society hates singles treats us like sh-- uses us in hidden ways. No benefits to singles for Choosing to not have screaming babies and raise them for 18 years?!???

For workouts machines, better cafe foods and others.. the Laguna Niguel locations may be better.

Unfortunately as of few months ago they started to host events in this locations. So now they are mostly providing service to the event attendants rather than their own members. They “close” the kitchen in their cafe to their members so that they can provide food for events. And they hire arrogant 16 year olds as their staff to keep up with the demand. Once I got sneezed on by one of the cafe members and instead of an apology I was given a “so what” look. I’ve contacted the location manager and he seems very busy to get back to me. If you are looking to join a “club” this might not be a great location anymore. Like any other businesses they are interested in generating more profit and at the moment events are more profitable than the members for them. If you decide to join, Be ready to wait for long parking spot lines, rude 16 year olds serving you attitude in the cafe, booked tennis courts every weekend

Resort-like workout/tennis/pickleball/swim club with restaurant and bar. This place has it all. The locker rooms are spotless with all the amenities. Childcare services seem to be efficient, (I don’t have a young kid myself). Front desk staff are awesome, friendly and accommodating as are the tennis pro shop staff. I really don’t have any complaints and I would have given 5-stars if they had open courts where tennis players can go and get matched into games.

This is my happy place! It is such a positive experience every time I come. The atmosphere is healthy and uplifting, the environment is absolutely gorgeous, and the classes are fun. My whole family loves it! We can spend half a day here... enjoying classes, pickle ball, tennis, lunch and the pool. It definitely had more of a resort feel to it that a gym feel!

They are one of the few fitness facilities around that have figured out how to stay open during the pandemic. Think five-star resort with a heavy emphasis on fitness and tennis and you'll have a pretty good idea of what to expect at this place. Everything is brand new everything and top-notch. Between the fitness classes, yoga, tennis, and spa-like amenities... it is made for resort-style living and an all-day escape for many of the members.

Make no mistake, you pay for what you get, but if you're truly interested in the best fitness experience in South Orange County this is your only choice.

Heeeey, let’s get it! Jesse - makes it worth getting up in the morning. He greets members as they arrive in a genuine and enthusiastic way which is engaging and empowering.

The tennis facilities are expertly maintained and extensive. The programming is excellent and super fun. Worth the membership cost.

I have been a member since the beginning at this club and have recently started taking tennis lessons from Jochim a tennis pro at the club. The tennis program at this club is very well run and has great instructors who are very in tune with a students abilities. I highly recommend the classes you will not feel out of place and will learn to play well and have a great time doing it!

I want to start of by mentioning that the LT in Laguna Niguel is absolutely gorgeous and I enjoy going there so much. However I can´t say the same about LT in San Clemente and that saddens me a lot. The staff are incredibly unfriendly, rude and conceited. EVERY time I go there, there is another problem. Today I got discriminated for being a caregiver and they almost denied me access to their facility, even though I have a membership at the gym! When I asked the woman at the front desk for her name, I was talked to in a rude and upset way...this is not good customer service! The staff constantly discriminate people for their jobs, looks and age. I cant believe this is what customers, like myself, should have to deal with on a daily basis. Especially after paying so much money monthly.

I am disappointed as a neighbor to this business that they don’t care about the community they have just built a huge new location in the middle of a residential area. The prior Tennis Club was a great neighbor for the 23 years we have lived in the canyon above Life Time location.
When Covid forced Life Time to move classes outside, they decided not to follow the proper codes that denied amplification for any business in a residential neighborhood.
After numerous neighboring residents called, visited and made them aware how intrusive it was for neighbors to have to listen to every class, 7 days a week. It was like having Life Time classes in your own backyard... on and on and on.
The reaction from the employees and management was surprising for what I thought was a well run organization.
All the neighbors were asking was to work together for a resolution. It is effecting neighborhoods facing the Life Time club from Presidio, Montego, Harbor Highlands, and Broadmoor.(homes on the ridge)
Just ask them to hold as many classes as they wanted, happy to see people keeping fit during Covid, but don’t use amplification during outside classes.
Unfortunately, think they have lost a lot of Good Will for San Clemente residents.

Best Life Time facility I've been to. Visited on a Saturday via day pass as I don't live nearby. Very upscale with high-quality materials throughout (showers have marble on the ceiling!). The workout area is smaller than most LT locations, but wasn't crowded at all when I visited on a Saturday afternoon. Phenomenal lounge / eating areas, and as of March 2020, it's the only LT with an on-site BAR (beer + wine for now)! It's easy to see why people can stay here from morning 'til evening. Get a workout in, play tennis, relax at the spa & poolside, eat, and socialize over drinks with friends later on. In short, it's a boutique-style country club with incredible amenities. Love it - and I'll be back!

Great new health center. Has very much a country club feel to it with the expansive pool area, patios and tennis courts. Lots of classes, adequate exercise floor (smaller than Laguna Niguel but have yet to run into it being too crowded in the early am).

Giving the Spin program a full five stars, the kids club and front desk staff a two star review because the front desk and kids club staff were both cold, snobby, and were not helpful at all. There was 4 kids club attendants and not one was playing with any of the kids and found my daughter and another child her age playing by themself. I would suggest only coming for the spin program. My overall experience was horrible.

I told the kid in memberships that I was NOT interested.. He calls me back and hangs up, hides his caller ID and plays games. Seriously, these are the clowns LifeTime hired? Not very professional. $229 a month for a membership is WAY too much, sorry. NOT INTERESTED.

First visit coming today. Will provide a review after today’s spin class.
- update on review -
After my first session I can tell you this gym is stunning in every aspect, from the men’s locker rooms, to the outside pool and the yoga studio.
The spin studio was small compared to other LT’s I have been too but the instructor was great. The only complaint I have is the fact I am unable to reserve bikes at this location since I originally signed up at another diamond location. I hope they fix this error soon. The parking is also limited.

Worth a visit. I’ll be back.
