I’ve been training at Lift Society for two years (3–4 days a week) and it has completely changed how I approach fitness. Even before I started tracking my lifts, I got stronger thanks to the small classes and hands-on coaching. After a one-on-one session, I finally started tracking — total game changer.
Supportive community, intentional programming, and you always have your own space — no scrambling for equipment. If you want real strength training with real results, Lift Society is the place. I work out with Martine and Mylyn and both are excellent!!

Lift Society has changed the game for me. After trying all kinds of stuff (lifting at a gym, CrossFit, etc), Lift has been the only one to actually change my body in the healthiest of ways. I'm more muscular, but most importantly, I'm much much stronger than when I started.
You add amazing trainers and a community of folks that aren't pretentious (like in many others places *cough cough*) and are really there to support each other, and it's a done deal. Honestly don't see myself doing anything else.

Not to be dramatic but training at Lift with Esmee has completely changed my life for the better. I come to Lift because I get more than a work out. There is a sense of deep community and friendship and support here and I am so grateful for the opportunity to take care of my body while I laugh and dance my ass off, too. Esmee has helped me go from a weak, unconfident girl who had never worked out before to a strong, confident woman who can bench 90 lbs and hip thrust just shy of 300!! There are a lot of trainers to choose from at Lift but I've found that her support, encouragement, and killer playlist always drive me to lift the heaviest and smile the widest :)

I’ve been going to Lift Society for over two years and the lifting knowledge and muscle gains have been incredible. I went in with no barbell experience and I feel fully versed in it now. The instructors are top notch and it feels like you have a personal trainer when needed. The class sizes are small and the instructors are very attentive and knowledgeable. The thing I like the most about it is that there are no overhead snatches or similar cross fit moves, and everything is very focused on not getting injured, so you get a big lift in, but without the downside of Injury. There is a big emphasis on tracking your numbers, which makes growing much easier and keeps you on your edge, and the system changes every month so it never gets old, which results in constantly growing in new ways. Three days a week is all you need, and there’s a Sunday class for those that want a little extra! Highly recommended!!!!

I joined Lift Society because I wanted to learn how to workout properly before joining a larger gym. 3 years later I’m still here and cant imagine leaving. My workouts here are truly my favorite parts of my week.
Things that keep me here:
- Personal squat racks
- Great community
- Knowledgeable and fun trainers
- Evolving programming that works and keeps it interesting
Shoutout to Jason for always pushing me harder 💪🏻

I’d always wanted to get stronger but had no idea where to begin. I didn’t have the money for a personal trainer and at big box gyms I’m completely lost with all the machinery and people in the way. Lift Society is the answer to that problem. You get your own station and the classes are small enough that the trainers can still give you the attention you need.
Their programming strikes the perfect balance: workouts are varied enough to stay interesting but grounded in the foundational movements that actually build real strength. There’s no unnecessary cardio or high-intensity circuits—just focused, intentional lifting designed to help you get stronger, leaner, and more resilient.
The gym has a great mix of men and women, and the trainers are knowledgeable, supportive, and genuinely invested in your progress. Everyone feels welcome - even if you’ve never touched a barbell in your life! I can’t recommend Lift Society enough if you’re serious about building strength in a smart, sustainable way.

The Hollywood location is like a cave where bears go to hibernate, small & dark and painted black inside with very loud music that bounces off the shiny black walls & ceiling. I was so negative about the loud music that they banned me from joining! Nightclubs are great but I like light and air & focusing on lifting. Pass!

I started here a few months ago and this gym has changed my life after not working out consistently for many years because I couldn’t seem to find the right fit in LA for a gym. It’s a small boutique style gym where you have your own squat rack and weights and I would never ever get these kind of workouts in if I were to go to a gym and do it by myself. Lift Society gives you the feel of having personal training sessions in a small class size where you are guided through the lifts. I have found all the coaches at the Hollywood location where I attend to be very skilled and extremely helpful. I’m so happy to have a workout routine back in my life thanks to Lift Society and I’m finally feeling strong again with a much higher level of energy… it’s taken me awhile but after looking elsewhere and not having luck at many other gyms and workout classes in LA, I’m so grateful to finally have a gym again!!

As someone who has always strongly preferred lifting on my own vs. attending classes at Barry's, Orange Theory, etc., I can confidently say that Lift Society is my one exception to that rule. I am nearing 4 months of regular attendance, and this place has transformed my fitness journey, resulting in noticeable changes in my body.
A few callouts that I appreciate in particular:
Personalized attention: the small, semi-private nature of these classes ensure you get individualized attention from knowledgeable trainers who are friendly, patient and focus on proper form (shoutout to my trainer, Esmee Chan on Mon/Wed/Fri - she's the best! 😀)
Effective training: I love that each class has heavy lifting, tempo, burnout & core sets. The variety keeps things interesting, and I have increased lean muscle mass while simultaneously burning fat, achieving the goal I had upon starting here.
Supporting community: The atmosphere is very welcoming, motivating and fun, thanks to both the trainers and fellow gym-goers.
If you are seeking a program that will produce results, so long as you stay consistent, I would highly recommend Lift Society.

If you’re looking for a small boutique gym that focuses on form when it comes to weight lifting this is the spot. Do not be intimidated by the decals on the front windows. The programming changes every four weeks, and the format of the class starts with either a lower body or upper body move with the intention to increase the amount of weight as you decrease the reps. The remainder of the class is doing another lower body and upper body move at high reps. This location has a cap of 8 people per class, but some of the other locations have more space. You get your own station so you don’t have to share barbells. You also are partnered up with a person to be each others spotters when doing bench presses. All the coaches are great, but one of the best is Matt. His classes tend to fill up fast.

I've been a member of Lift Society for almost two years and couldn't be happier with my results. Looking to transition from HIIT workouts, I found the perfect fit with their strength-focused classes. The boutique-style studio offers expert coaching and a supportive community.
I love how the 60-minute sessions progressively target different muscle groups without leaving me out of breath. The strength gains and body composition changes have been incredible without the need for a wardrobe overhaul.
If you're seeking a resistance-based workout in LA, I highly recommend Lift Society. Their multiple locations make it convenient to fit a Lift into a busy schedule.

Full disclosure: I've never thought of myself as a particularly athletic person, and I've always found fitness classes a little intimidating, but I'm so glad that I decided to check out the weight lifting classes at Lift Society anyway. The owners and all of the coaches genuinely care about their members, invested in both our fitness journeys as well as establishing a sense of community within the gym. Classes are small and the instructors keep a watchful eye on everyone, correcting your form as needed. And nobody at Lift Society is going to give you a hard time if you need to modify an exercise; while they encourage you to add weight if you can they also understand that everyone has different limits and they trust you to know what's best for your body.
Speaking of bodies, since coming to Lift Society I've noticed real changes in mine, both appearance-wise as well as ability-wise. I've been a member for years now, and every time I'm able to add weight to a previous personal best I feel so empowered, which isn't a feeling I've ever associated with exercise until Lift Society. Their program has really clicked with me in more ways than one, and I heartily recommend checking them out if you're looking for a great weight lifting-based training experience.
(Parking tip: the parking lot at the Hollywood location can get crowded but if you come earlier in the morning you won't have a problem.)

I have always struggled to workout because it is intimidating, so I have avoided it most of my life. But at Lift Society, it is different! A private, members-only gym that keeps class sizes small so the instructors can focus on each member--it's like having a private trainer but with a great group of friends. I have gone from hating to working out to going almost every day. I've gone from dreading workouts to looking forward to my daily classes. The energy is excellent, the people are amazing, and--to make it all even better--I noticed results within a few short weeks! It is clear that a tremendous amount of thought and planning goes into every workout class because you feel and see the results! LOVE IT!!!

I’ve tried every group fitness/boutique gym around LA. F45, Barry’s, Orange Theory, Training Mate, martial arts, Spinning, Hot Yoga, Pilates, etc., etc….But this is the one workout to rule them all! Lifting HEAVY in a safe, supervised setting will support all your body goals, whether it is aesthetics and/or simply building bone density and muscle mass. You get your own barbell and squat rack in a semi-private class. I’m 53 and I’m the leanest and strongest I’ve ever been. All the trainers are kind, qualified and attentive and supportive. Lift Society really takes group fitness personally!

It’s been so long now I can’t remember exactly when I first joined Lift Society but it was the best decision I ever made!
Returned to a full 3x/week about a year ago, after some injuries and a knee replacement. Had a hard time making the am classes due to insomnia (menopause and injuries are no joke, ladies!) so now mix up my workouts between mornings in Hollywood with Matt or eves in Santa Monica (closer to my office) with Joey.
I’ve always hated workouts that leave you feeling like a gerbil on a wheel. These workouts make you feel strong and with that growth in muscle (and bone density and increased metabolism…), the lbs just seem to melt away. Between clothes fitting better and just feeling stronger, being stronger, I feel great!
The key here is small class size. The trainers know you, know your issues - for example, I wasn’t able to get the bar on my back for the last year due to injuries & am cautious with certain knee-affecting exercises post-replacement and so they are in tune with that and always offer adjustments or alternatives which work for me. But damn it feels so good to be able to do a proper back squat again!
I’ve watched Lift Society grow from the original Hollywood location to four and am so proud of what they’ve accomplished! Also so grateful I found Lift Society!!

Matt inspired and encouraged me through one of the greatest classes ever! He had a plan, and we had a full body training session in one hour without the needless banter that can occur with a private trainer. No frills. No fashion contest. The body needs weights, challenging yoga, and steps; it’s not about the cardio. Lift Society is brilliant and so much fun!

One of the best decisions I've made in my life thus far was joining these guys. I have struggled to consistently work out for years, and after about a year and a half of being with these guys, I have become not only more knowledgeable about working out, but It's turned into my routine. The owners Dylan and David are accommodating and helpful, and this is further reflected by their awesome instructors who are equally so. I have never had an instructor in this class I didn't like.
A bit of a warning though: They are here to help you, but a lot of the effort is really on you still. They are excellent mentors and motivators but you really get what you give when it comes to this class (or just working out in general) and the first month will be brutal if you're like me and haven't really worked out before. But when you really get into the motions of everything, you start realizing that you can do far more than you thought you could. The work and exhaustion is just the cost of becoming stronger and I personally enjoyed the challenge eventually.
In short: Worth the money and time, If you have a rough time starting your workout journey or just need some structure, Lift Society is the place to be.

If a purely weight training gym can help and encourage my wife I’m all in. I feel comfortable there with all the trainers. Much more importantly my wife feels comfortable there and loves the help and encouragement from the staff.

I joined Lift Society in April 2021 and the gains I have made in strength and physique are the best results I've ever seen in my life!
Owners, Dylan & David, have created a supportive lifting atmosphere with knowledgeable trainers who provide A+ instructions on technique.
Classes are essentially a group therapy version of personal training, which makes it all the more enjoyable. You are provided your own weight rack, so already you are eliminating the stress of having to search the gym for the correct weights. In addition, lifting as a group feels more inspiring because the instructors and fellow classmates are very supportive of each other no matter how much weight you can lift.
Lift Society has allowed me to fall in LOVE with weight lifting by providing a challenging program that stays fresh, but consistent and creating a workout atmosphere I thoroughly look forward to returning to every time :)

Disappointed at how short the upper body work out is, can you add a few days during the week that focus more on lifting and working upper body? Please add an upper body class , sprinkle it in during the week it will make me a forever customer !

This gym is perfect if you like to lift or want to learn to lift. I personally find that if I go to a regular gym, get bored with my programming and lose interest over time. Going to lift society you can show up, know you have dedicated access to the weights you need and push yourself with varied programming that changes and keeps you engaged. The tempo, if you push yourself, is challenging enough that you’ll be able to burn calories and lose weight if that is your goal. You’ll definitely be able to get a lot stronger.

Love me some LIFT Society! I've been coming here for almost 3 years and I couldn't be happier to call it my fitness home. The owners and instructors are super knowledgeable and supportive in helping you reach your goals. The workouts really do strengthen and tone which is exactly what I was looking for. If you've never lifted weights before, don't be intimidated and stop on by, you won't be disappointed. The whole community is very friendly and supportive, which is a must for me. Thanks Dylan, Dave, and all the amazing instructors at Lift Society!

I have been a member of Lift Society for years and I can't imagine working out at any other gym. If you want to lose weight, get toned or just bulk up then this is the place to be. The owners Dave and Dylan have created not just a space where people are able to lift heavy but a community of amazing people that are passionate about fitness. The trainers here are amazingly knowledgeable and really get to know each and every student. Class sizes are small, so this is as close to personal training as you're going to get in a group class. Check out Lift Society - you won't regret it!
