Our semi-private strength training sessions will help you get stronger than ever. We focus on progressive overload, evidence-based strength training, and structured 4-week cycles to ensure consistent progress. Every class is led by an expert coach specializing in strength and hypertrophy training, so you get personalized guidance in every workout.
With a small group setting (8-12 people per session), you’ll get all the benefits of personal coaching—expert form correction, strategic weight progression, and individualized support—while training alongside a like-minded lifting community. At Lift Society, you’ll never have to share equipment—just good vibes, serious strength, and real results.

This really is the best fitness program in Santa Monica for strength and conditioning. Over the last decade i have tried cross fit and numerous iterations of HIIT classes. No other gym has combined highly experienced trainers, scientific based programs, and small classes like lift society. If you show up 3 days per week and put the effort in during the class you will get results hands down. If you are a beginner the trainers will take get your form in place so you do the lifts properly. There focus is on sustainable strength and injury prevention. Sincerely highly recommend.

Lift Society is a strength training gym that has lifted my middle aged body and my spirits. They take group fitness more personally than most other boutique gyms. The membership structure and very small class sizes creates an intimate yet fun semi private training experience with challenging and effective programming that changes constantly. It’s super clean and every client gets their own squat rack for the hour. I’ve learned proper technique and form to deadlift, bench press, squat and I am in the best shape of my life.

Love love love Lift Society! In the three years I’ve been there, I’ve seen more progress in my fitness and my body shape and then in the previous 20 years of working out at other studios combined. The programming is perfect, the trainers are fantastic, the people who go there are friendly and fun, and the facilities are clean and comfortable. I used to hate working out. For all of my life, in fact. Now if I miss a session at Lift Society, I’m bummed out. This place is a revelation.

Lift Society Santa Monica is such a great spot. The vibe is super welcoming and it really feels like a place to grow—physically and mentally. Lift Society is literally my favorite gym I’ve ever been a part of. The coaches are awesome--super knowledgeable and encouraging--and genuinely care about your progress. Lift Society is my holy grail of fitness! It only took me a couple of decades to realize that lifting heavy weights is the best but for years, I toggled between paying for an expensive personal trainer and lifting on my own (only to get demotivated). Lift Society is the best of both worlds as it combines a personal trainer with the benefits of a small group class. My fav trainer is Martine – she is fun, energetic, encouraging yet emphasizes proper form and shows so much passion for her work. All the trainers are top notch though! Sean, Jason, Mylyn, Conrad all have their own style but they all show such care and great energy to the classes! I've seen so much progress in my fitness levels and I feel empowered every time I leave a class.

After years of HIIT classes, I decided I wanted to switch it up and try lifting but was super intimidated by the gym (and had noooo idea how to work those machines). Private trainers were also so expensive and I remember wishing there was a middle ground then BAM, I found Lift Society. It’s the perfect mix and the classes are small so it almost feels like you are in a private session without the big price tag. Def recommend!! Conrad and Sean are my favs!!! Get ready to be sore!!!

This review is long overdue. I had a great strength routine and PT in the Bay area but wasn't able to find the right set up in Santa Monica...until we found Lift. I love the focus on weight training and you don't have to think - just show up and you'll get a great workout. Special shout out to the coaches Conrad, Mylyn, Sean, Jason and Martine in SM. They bring good energy and help you get the most out of your workout. Conrad has been awesome in helping me through a pesky foot injury as well. Thanks to the Lift team!

I have been a Lift Society member for almost a year(?!), crazy how time flies! I had been doing pilates/yoga for ages but I knew that I wanted to get stronger and I wanted to feel like I was actively changing my body composition and not just maintaining what I’d always had. The goal? Viking warrior goddess who can finally do push ups hahah. Despite my goals I’ve found the trainers to probably be the best part for me; I was never super sure on my form for heavier weighted exercises and so I’d often injure myself because it looked like I knew what I was doing (spoiler I did not). But the trainers here really have eagle eyes on everyone to correct tiny details which I appreciate (so does my lower back). I’m happy with my progress and enjoy having the same people in classes to catch up with and commiserate having to do abs!

Hands down the best gym in LA!
I’m beyond obsessed with Lift Society. It’s the perfect mix of personal training and group fitness. You get the attention and guidance of a coach but with the motivation and energy of a small class. It’s the only gym I’ve ever actually looked forward to going to, and it’s been the reason I’ve finally stuck to a consistent workout routine.
I love that you stay at the same rack the whole class, so there’s no running around or waiting for equipment. Everything is planned out for you, and the strength programs change every month, which keeps things fresh and makes it easy to track progress.
The coaches are amazing, and the community here is next level. If you’re looking for a gym that will keep you motivated, push you to get stronger, and actually make working out fun—this is it.

My favorite private gym. I love the class format and it changes regularly so you never get bored. Gave me the best introduction to weightlifting but still is great to attend even though I’m a lot more experienced now. Could not recommend this gym more.

This was one of the first Lift Society locations/classes I went to, and I’ve been hooked ever since! I found the coaching to be very hands on to my specific needs (e.g., herniated disc in my back) and provided great alternatives that still gave me a great workout. Music and atmosphere are second to none, too! 10/10 recommend to everyone!

Lift Society is the best kept secret in LA. If you’re looking for personal training type workouts without an intimidating instructor, this is the place for you. It’s small classes of 4-10 people and you have your own weight rack and equipment. The instructors are top notch, both Semaj and Martine are INCREDIBLE and my favorite. If you’re looking for a good solid workout with long term results, this is it. BEST GYM IN LA.

I've been attending Lift Society Gym in Santa Monica for 3-4 months, and it's been an amazing experience. One of the best things about this gym is the small class sizes. I found LIFT Society right here on Google Maps. I wanted a group strength training class that wasn't going to injure me so badly like Crossfit, and I'm glad these guys were right there in Santa Monica. I was a member for the past six months and then I had to move out of LA and so I had to leave, and leaving LIFT Society was the hardest part about moving away. I lifted here 3x/week, mostly with instructors Sage and Martine, and these were my happiest days every week. Over the course of six months, I dropped over 50lbs of weight, dropping over 12% body fat, and increased my strength more than I ever did with Crossfit. During my last max week, I kept hitting new PRs. I was blown away.
For each workout the instructors guide you through the warmup and then through each lift, including reps, tempo, etc. If you're new, like I was, they help you learn the lifts. And during the workouts, they will correct you to ensure your form is good. I started at LIFT with major lower back issues, but I was able to start light and work my way up to my biggest gains ever in my life. (I'm a 43 year-old man)
But besides the strength gains, this was just so much fun. Sage and Martine made classes so much fun, and the group training environment provided that wonderful sense of community. It was FUN. I looked forward to going to each and every class. Sometimes I would do the double header workouts on Sunday over at the Culver City location. I gave my all each workout and completely transformed my body to the point where some people didn't recognize me.
I complemented my workouts with prepared meals (Factor), calorie + protein counting on a Google sheet, and eventually Mounjaro to help with appetite suppression. These three together resulted in a fantastic transformation for me that improved my cardio, sleep, and overall happiness. Some say exercise is the best medicine, and LIFT Society became my foundation. Of course it's LA so I also did yoga and hiking, but LIFT was the core. Hiking was so much easier because my butt was so much stronger thanks to all of the regular hip thrusts here!
I love this place and i'm already missing it a week later. If you want to get strong, have fun, and not worry about what you're going to do in your next workout, this is the place. Join and lift heavy!

I am so blown away by the staff, programming & community of this gym. I’ve never been in better shape, had a clearer understanding of how to progress (both strength and aesthetically) or felt more motivated to continue the grind. Membership to this gym has changed the game and every week I find myself excited and eager to see what new levels I will reach and how the incredible and singular programming will evolve.
