I have had the pleasure of pursuing my yoga teacher training and the honor to teach as well as volunteer at Light on Lotus. Across all my experiences here, I've consistently felt that this is one of the very few studios in LA that honors the integrity of yoga as a 360 mind-body-philosophy practice. Kate Dyun (creative director at the studio) goes above and beyond in honoring this in her classes and the programs in the studio are an extension of that. The community is so warm here - full of heartful practitioners who are truly curious about yoga, beyond just a workout. As an Indian yogi, I always feel at home about how well teachers look to ancient Indian roots as an inspiration to teaching their classes, not to forget that the studio in and of itself is housed in a home setting. The ambience here is such a vibe ! As you walk in, you are greeted by plants, books, doves (yes there are two doves in here that make babies all year long !), the spacious yoga room is adorned with altars, crystals, more plants opening into a garden that often opens up for morning and afternoon practices.
Kate consistently ensures that yoga is accessible to all (as it should be) hence compared to other westside studios, classes here are way more reasonably priced and you get so much more value for your money. If you're looking for a warm community of folks, in a vibey space, and an authentic school to deepen your yoga practice, this is the studio you want to come home to !

Best studio on the west side - hands down. Every instructor is wonderful - special shout out to Kate, Raphie and Vance. The sequencing and flow at this studio is truly the best and once you go to this studio you will have a hard time practicing anywhere else. The studio is thoughtful, peaceful and one of a kind - it is curated beautifully and makes you feel so welcome (as opposed to gyms or corporate yoga places). Support local woman owned business! BEST YOGA STUDIO!! The minute I started going to Light on Lotus, I could immediately tell that this yoga studio was special. The instructors are experts that care deeply about the flow, proper alignments, adjustments, and the yoga practice as a whole. I also love that there are a wide variety of classes for all levels. The studio itself has skylights, plants and opens up to a little garden where if it’s warm enough we can practice outside. It’s super cute and relaxing. I cannot recommend it enough!

This is my absolute favorite yoga studio in LA. The space is absolutely stunning and well-tended to, with lots of live plants and a beautiful outdoor area for warmer days. All of the teachers bring their unique talents and flare to their classes and the studio also hosts a variety of special events. "Feels like Om". ;)

Best yoga studio in LA! Warm and welcoming community. Both the teachers and the students light up the room. The main studio is big and bright and when it's warm outside they open up the big door in the back and you can practice in the garden!! My favorite!!

This an amazing place and people to start your yoga journey with. It's been my second month of doing yoga in this studio and I already feel the difference in my body and spirit. Every teacher is a character with their style, flow, and pace, but everyone is great. I've got lucky to take classes with Kate (Lotus Flow & Lunch Houre), Mychal (Flow & Slow), and Kishan(Lotus Flow) during weekdays. I also enjoy the community classes every Sunday which start at 12:30 pm. So grateful to be part of this beautiful community :) thanks Kate!

This is a gorgeous studio in LA. When the weather is nice, there’s a garden area that the main studio opens to that is so serene. It’s the perfect backdrop for the creative flows offered here. This studio also helped me coordinate a gift card for Mother’s Day and they were great about it! If you live in LA or find yourself here for vacation, go!

I’ve had the opportunity to know Kate, the person for quite sometime, knowing of her yoga business and practice, seeing it from a close distance but yet to experience. Last Sunday was my first class with her and I must say she is a maestro, a transitional wizard with the capabilities of presenting a pristine example of some very physical challenging poses with the poise of a stoic. Great studio with excellent teachers. On Sundays they have a Community class taught by graduates of their Teacher Training class and the fees go to charity. The teachers demonstrate and sequence the class so that you feel really strengthened and refreshed from the experience.

I feel like after 12 years in Los Angeles, I have finally found my studio. It’s the perfect combination of spiritual and physical. It’s a local, woman run business in the era of corporate yoga. Light on Lotus (LOL) is the premier yoga studio in Los Angeles. The owner, Kate, has meticulously assembled a team of incredibly talented, expert instructors for practitioners at all levels. Kate, herself, is a yogi extraordinaire and a patient, empowering and inspiring instructor. I regularly attend her Sunday morning class. It’s grounded in yoga tradition, but then launches into the stratosphere, breaking through barriers to create a vinyasa flow that is inventive, imaginative, challenging and beautiful. No two classes are ever the same, which keeps it interesting and refreshing; there is no way to anticipate what’s coming next. It’s clear that she puts a lot of time and thought into preparation. Even though it’s a group class, she also provides individualized attention to those of us who might need a little guidance on a particular pose or movement. At the end of class, you’re firmly reunited with tradition and reminded of the significance and meaningfulness of the practice. After Sunday class, I usually stroll through the nearby Mar Vista Farmer’s Market, picking up fresh fare that feels appropriate to the sense of post-yoga euphoria that you inevitably feel as you leave the studio. LOL has become an integral part of the community; I’ve met a lot of friends there. Aside from yoga, LOL offers special events, such as sound baths and meditations, and often has talented musicians serenading the classes. I highly recommend this incredible studio for anyone looking for outstanding yoga, expert instructors, and a friendly and supportive environment.

I moved to LA a little over a year ago and found this gem of a studio. It’s the only place I’ll practice! The teachers are so talented, the classes are challenging and creative, and the space is spotless. Classes and workshops are always packed. They also have a great teacher training program! I can’t say enough about how inspiring and talented the instructors, namely my yoga teacher of 10 years Kate Duyn are at Light On Lotus. I’ve been doing yoga for decades, but have found my home studio in Los Angeles. Starting with pre-natal yoga, and now maintaining my wellness and shape- I only gravitate to Light On Lotus.

Kate D is the best yoga teacher I’ve ever had. Her studio is an extension of her style—strong yet nimble, flowing but not overwhelmingly so, and there’s always a spiritual/philosophical message mixed in with some humor. I've been practicing at this studio for two years now and have never had a bad class. All of the teachers are first rate, led by owner, Kate D. The studio is in a great location, in "downtown" Mar Vista, and very close to the Farmers' Market on Sunday. Light on Lotus is a community of down-to-earth, heart-centered yogis, where both my body and spirit feel nourished after every class.
