Lisa Bower changed my life. I’d never tried Pilates. I was in my late 60s, out of shape, not particularly good at any athletic activity but particularly uncomfortable in my body. She taught me how my body works. She got me into shape, strong but flexible. Above all, she enabled me to make friends with my body. And along the way, she taught me Pilates, which must be one of the best forms of exercise ever invented. She’s demanding, helpful, patient, and compassionate — a great combination. And she’s well worth knowing as a person. Highest possible recommendation!

I can’t say enough positive things about working with Lisa. When I first started Pilates sessions with her, I was struggling with persistent back pain and nerve pain. She carefully tailored each workout to my needs, gradually building my strength and flexibility—until, before I knew it, that pain was virtually gone.
Beyond her obvious expertise and professionalism, she creates such a warm, supportive atmosphere that over time, she’s become not only my Pilates instructor but also a good friend. Her upbeat attitude and genuine care have been a huge motivator for me, and I truly look forward to every session.
If you’re looking for someone who is knowledgeable, compassionate, and fully committed to helping you achieve your wellness goals, I highly recommend Lisa Bower. My back has never felt better!

Lisa is a phenomenal Pilates instructor and has improved my life quality tremendously. I found Lisa after I had injured myself at a group reformer “Pilates” class in SF where the instructor barely paid any attention to my technique and form. Lisa is exceptionally detail oriented and makes sure you do every move in proper form, engaging the right muscles. Since seeing Lisa routinely, I’ve become much stronger and various pains I previously had around my body have gone away.
Lisa is also a lifelong learner and is always further educating herself on the human body so that she can better support her clients, and I’ve seen this firsthand through attending several workshops with her around the city. I would highly recommend Lisa and her Pilates practice!

Lisa's Pilates classes have significantly improved my quality of life, mobility, and fitness. Her understanding of Pilates and of the body makes her exceptional and unique
When I first started classes with Lisa, I had tight hamstrings and a tight back, both of which were contributing to back pain and increasing limitations.
Over time, Lisa taught me how to move properly, how to use my core, and to increase flexibility. I can touch my toes, have not had back pain in years, and have been able to accelerate my overall fitness in other areas (HIIT classes, running, etc.).

I have worked with Lisa doing both mat and reformer Pilates for several years. The results speak for themselves. As a person in his late 70’s I continue to be very physically active. She works with me on all muscle groups impressing on me how to move most efficiently whether it is simply standing up, swimming or balance. I couldn’t recommend her Pilates techniques more highly.

I had to have emergency back surgery 5yrs ago. After my initial recovery, I found Lisa Bower Pilates to aid in my goal to rebuild and strengthen my core. She has done that and so much more. I have recommended Lisa to several friends at different Pilates skill levels, and they have all loved their experiences with Lisa Bower Pilates. I could not recommend her more.

Lisa is a spectacular pilates teacher (and a great human being). I have been a life long runner, but aging causes all sorts of muscle atrophy that makes me vulnerable to injury and strain. I have been doing pilates with Lisa for the last several years and have managed to avoid injury -- plus I just feel better: stronger and more flexible. All thanks to Lisa!!

I've been working with Lisa for over eight years now. She's helped me rehab from multiple knee injuries (ACL, MCL, and quadriceps tendon tears), as well as two pregnancies. Perhaps most importantly, she's helped me keep my body strong to prevent further injuries. She has extensive knowledge of anatomy in addition to Pilates, allowing her to serve as a personalized physical therapist when needed, and she pays close attention to form. She also cares about her clients on the personal level and has become a friend over the years. Before I saw Lisa my core was an area of weakness and now it's the strongest part of my body. I'd highly recommend her to anyone who wants to become or stay physically fit!
