I worked out with Kevin in my 20s and now continuing with him again in my 30s! Hes so kind and understanding and really checks in on you so you can meet your goals. I have been working out for years on my own, but the level of knowledge this guy has is immense and I continue to learn from him every session. Defintiely recommend.

I had a bet with coworkers for weight loss challenge for 3 months and he has guided me through every step of the way. I actually ended up losing 12 lbs within the 3 months and was feeling very happy with my progress. In fact, I was so happy with what he has done for me that i decided to keep training under him even after i was done with the challenge with the coworkers. He;s truly one of the best.

I started training with Kevin in February of 2025
Training with Coach Kevin has been the best decision I've made in my entire fitness journey, l've always lacked confidence in myself to continue following a routine because of how discouraged l'd get on certain workouts but since signing up with Kevin l've learned to no longer have doubt but to have patience and courage to conquer my workouts everyday!
The knowledge Kevin has is top tier any question I have there's always an answer to it and it's not just a "it's this or that" type of answer it's broken down into a detailed description answer of my question
My shoulders were always my weakest points of my body never being able to press over 20lbs but with Made by Matua I can now press 35lbs with no pain and that's only with 4 months of training
Kevin is one of the most genuine professionals l've met at the gym and he's really there for you to better yourself not just to take your money, this is a guy who LOVES what he does!

This is my second time doing personal training sessions with Kevin. The first time I had pt sessions, I saw great results. I had begun training with Kevin in 2021 and stopped in 2022... and now I'm back. Kevin does a great job of explaining each exercise he has you do in a way that makes sense for you to repeat on your own. He is very responsive, so if you have questions and send him a text he is quick to reply. He is encouraging with his clients and is flexible to work around your schedule.
Definitely cannot recommend him enough.

Kev is a great trainer. He knows his stuff when it comes to training & dieting, but outside of that as a coach, he pushed me hard. He made sure my training was always intense, and always checked on my meals. More than that, he taught me how to love my body and love working out. I learned to workout by myself and he built the foundation for my physique, and loved every step I made.

If you're thinking about getting a personal trainer Kevin is your guy! I've been working with him for a few months now for my wedding and I can see and feel the change. He doesn't just mindlessly give you exercises he helps you understand what every exercise is doing in your body and helps with your form to make sure you see and feel results. He's also just a great guy I've been struggling with taking medication regularly and he took it upon himself to check in on me everyday to make sure I take it. I'm working to look my best at my wedding in march so I'm still a work in progress but I'll be back to post my before and after pics in a few months.
Take the leap you won't regret it!

I’ve been working with coach matua for 6 month so far and already lost 50 pounds and have been feeling great. ive learned how to track my macros and also learned how to lift with proper form. coach matua is very knowledgeable and great at his craft. even gives you recipe ideas and brings in some of his own foods for you to try. overall just a great experience. definitely helps you as much as he can to help make your journey easy but most importantly sustainable for the future. thanks uso

Kevin is an absolutely amazing trainer!!! I was very overwhelmed with where to start with my weight loss journey and he made me feel at ease from our first meeting. He knows his information and it shows cause he always has an answer for the million questions I ask about fitness. I HAVE MADE SO MUCH PROGRESS IN MY WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY AND I AM SO GRATEFUL I FOUND KEVIN. Just do it! I assume if you are reading this review you are thinking about getting a personal trainer like I was just over 6 months ago. Trust me when I say, just do it. You won’t regret signing up with Kevin. He is kind and will get you where you need to be with your health and fitness goals. I’m in my early 50’s and was just starting to feel like I was gaining weight and was having a hard time just trying to get a few pounds off because it is so much harder at this age to lose weight than in past years. I was getting frustrated so finally decided I wanted to find someone who could help get me back on track. I found Kevin and he did just that!
He got my nutrition and macro plan set up first and knowing that he was looking at my food intake in the app made me feel more accountable for what I was eating. His workouts are awesome and he will make sure you are comfortable with all of the exercises. I hurt my knee (outside the gym) at one point and he was great at helping me work around that and even taped it up for me which I really think helped it to heal faster. My original plan was to stick with a trainer for 3 months just to get my mindset adjusted and change my habits, but here I am 6 months later and I don’t want to stop because I am seeing great results! I have lost 10 lbs. of fat and gained muscle too. I feel strong and healthy and am fitting back into dresses that were on the verge of being donated because I didn’t think I would get back into them and look good. Don’t hesitate. Kevin is awesome and on top of being a great trainer, he is just a really nice guy and enjoyable to see each time we work out.

I used to have knee pain from working out with another trainer who wasn't as knowledgeable and Kevin made sure that I didn't experience any of that again. Training with Kev was probably the best decision
I've made for my weight loss journey so far. I'm
barely 2 months in but I've already seen and felt
the positive changes I wouldn't have expected
until much later. Other than that, he's really easy
to work with and I don't (always lol) dread coming
to the gym because I truly enjoy it and I believe he
makes it enjoyable as well. He's knowledgeable
with what he's doing and doesn't expect me to
starve myself in order to get results.
So far, I've felt nothing but increased confidence
and I appreciate the push he's given me. It's
unlocked a lot more than just "weight loss" for me
and I feel lucky to have found him as my trainer.

Kevin is an excellent personal trainer! A close friend of mine recommended me to Kevin after starting her fitness journey with him a few months prior. He is great at meeting his clients where they are at by assessing their needs, dietary behavior, and exercise routine, also knows a ton about nutrition and has given me some really game-changing tips on my diet. I was really nervous about our first session because I haven't worked out with a trainer in a while. He's upbeat and somehow takes the time to get to know you, without wasting any time with the workout. Kevin is knowledgable not only with how to get the most out of your work out, but if you have any pain or soreness how to rehabilitate those muscles with a background in physical therapy. I've been working with him for almost 3 months now and I'm super happy with the level of work we've been able to do. My schedule can be pretty unpredictable and he's flexible with that as well. I felt like this was the best use of my time and glad he's helping me kickstart my routine with proper form. If you're thinking about a new personal trainer, you can't go wrong with him. Highly recommend!

I've been training with Kevin for almost a year now. I've lost a total of 60 pounds so far! I was new to working out and nervous to step into a gym but Kevin made the experience very comfortable. He's always keeping you accountable with nutrition and your workouts outside of training with him as well!! He's taught me everything that I need to know and I wouldn't change anything about this experience. The effects on my physical and mental health have been so great that I can't thank him enough. In the first 25 years of my life, I somehow managed to avoid consistent gym attendance, and so, going to the gym was a test of confidence. I felt awkward and misplaced amongst the alien machines.

Kevin was the first trainer I've worked with, and my experience with subsequent trainers have emphasized the his excellence and experience. I looked forward to the hour we worked out together, and my body felt like it always pushed to my limits without injury. His explanations of anatomy helped me parse how my body should feel during lifting and stretching, and helped me avoid pain that I felt when I was working out alone.

Most importantly, talking with Kevin felt comfortable. We eased between discussions about working out and conversations about life. We discussed books and relationships, shared our daily travails and small hopes. Quarantine will always be remembered with some amount of pain, but I'm glad to have met Kevin.

It's hard to describe all that working out with Kevin has done for me, but it can summed up simply with "I made a yelp account so I could give Kevin 5 stars." More so than my physical appearance, Kevin helped me establish confidence and a consistent gym habit.

Quite possibly the best personal trainer in OC!

Before starting sessions with Kev, I had never done any strength training and was always anxious and intimidated to go to a gym/workout by myself. In the past few months of training with Kev, he has helped me overcome this fear and become stronger both physically and mentally. If you want to grow and implement a healthier lifestyle - this is the trainer for you! He will motivate and encourage you to do better and push you to stay accountable and consistent.

In 3 months, Kev helped me decrease fat mass by about 8lbs and increase muscle mass by 8lbs. One thing I struggled with was not meeting my calorie goal and on days where I was further from my goal - Kev would review with me what I ate and provided helpful tips to reach my goal and suggestions for replacements that would fit my needs.

He truly cares about his clients and will address any questions or concerns you have on your fitness journey!

Kev is extremely passionate and knowledgeable about what he does and his enthusiasm is sure to rub off on you as well! Truly one of the best personal trainers and inspiring humans out there!
