Great sauna, just improved with new sauna unit (mens side) and some new cedar seats! The treadmills have a wireless phone charger too so that is a great detail!!

I had a great experience as a guest for a day. I got to swim and enjoy the sauna, which are both in great condition.

I don’t understand why they close the entire basketball court for pickle ball. There is already very limited time you can go shoot around casually without a full court game going on. I think they should make full court games stop for 15 minutes between games so people can utilize the courts for practice. Also this gym is pretty expensive for being a YMCA what is meant to be a community center accessible for EVERYONE!

Facilities are plentiful and everyone wipes down religiously but this place is the most crowded gym I’ve ever joined. Sometimes you can’t even park in the lot, so you’re out on the street. After one month I knew it wasn’t the right place for me. I have a friend who has gone there for years and he just works around the crowd. I can’t do that. So I found a better place.

I like this sports complex, has everything, I go to classes with Robin instructor and she’s amazing.
The equipment is in good shape and enough for everyone in the room.
The parking can be a little tricky sometimes and you should get early to find a good spot, besides that it’s fine

My membership is free with my supplemental Medicare plan and I’m grateful for that. When it’s not busy, I can get a decent workout in and while I haven’t attended any of the classes, they look good. The gym is not large and during moderate to very busy times, it’s difficult to get on the machines in a timely manner.
My problem lies with the black mold and dirt I see in the ladies showers. Since I can carve some of it off the grout in the shower stall with my fingernail, I’m pretty sure it could be remedied by a thorough cleaning. My fiancé claims the men’s showers are clear of mold. The shower heads are really old, as are the soap dispensers, so I bring my own products.

It’s not more stars because the basketball gym is barely open that long due to the fact that pickleball is played in the gym a lot , just make a separate pickle ball court. Also why does it close so early at 5pm?????

I was in the area so I decided to check this place out. The parking was a bit small and it always seemed to be stressful to get a parking. However, the staff members were always very helpful and they provide day passes for $20. Once inside, I noticed it was a bit small. Not too many places to stretch, the weights and machines were always busy most of the time as well as the cardio equipment. Yet, I was still able to get my workout complete. The people in this gym were nice overall.

The pool is great at the Y in Marin what's absolutely a nightmare is finding the pool schedule in this lousy newsletter that does not function efficiently at all I am extremely disappointed with the newsletter I want to be able to get to the pool schedule at Marin YMCA not all this other stuff.

The worst gym I've been a part of. They close the outdoor training area at 85 degrees which discriminates against people from warm places training for warm weather events. The kettlebell selection is miniscule, 44lb max, and there's no sleds. The upside is its the only gym with a pool within 15 miles of me, that is affordable for a student, and they manage it well.

YMCA is a place for everyone, feeling comfortable working out there. Yes, it is busy is because they are welcoming everyone. Not like the other private gyms where they charge members starting at $199 and up per month. With this high inflation, I rather save my hard working money for groceries. By the way, YMCA charges their members on sliding scale based on their income. You don't see that much around here. WHY PAY MORE?

This gym really needs to invest in more machines in the weight room. It becomes extremely frustrating when, no matter what time of the day I come, there are usually 4 people wanting to use the 1 smith machine. I used to workout in a very small lifting gym in San Francisco that had more machines so I was able to get more of a full workout in a fraction of the time. It definitely has the room for more.
Staff has been sufficiently friendly, albeit a little ~weird~ to younger brown people like me. 🙃 (I had to ask for help unlocking my locker once and the staff there somewhat treated me like they were suspicious I would steal someone’s clothes lol.)

I have a membership here and use it for the weight room. I have played basketball here before but don't usually use it for that. I think they could put a lil bit more into the gym as far as more machines but it does the job. It's also not very busy usually which is a plus and they have their membership fees on a sliding scale which is also a plus. Kind people that work there and they have a pool, bball court, pickleball (indoor) , racket ball, weight rooms, locker rooms with showers and saunas, vending machines and lots of parking.

I.m member of course.i like the classes,it has a lot of choices,so that's great however i.m not fond of the lady's dressings room it's not very clean, they are going to fix the pool area because the floors are cracked and it's not looking very clean, they said it's going to fixe it in the end of the year ,so it's seems we will see how it turns out.otherwise it's very reasonable rates

This Gym has everything you need and staff is friendly but you will find it impossible to get any workout done simply because this location is EXTREMELY crowded when most people are off work so 3pm- till close. I can not speak for mornings but it seems to be just as crowded by senior members during those hours. I've been a member for months and I have yet to use the free weights because they are ALL always in use in what is a very small area. I get lucky with a treadmill about half the time but otherwise I pretty much waste my money having a membership at this location. I'm searching for other options in the area even if I have to pay more money, at least I will actually get a workout elsewhere.

I haven’t been to this ymca since before the pandemic, but they ran a great youth basketball league for 1st thru 4th grade that really filled a gap in the Marin youth sports landscape. Parent coached but league organized gym time and scheduling. I have very fond memories of coaching a group of 1st and 2nd graders — that group has largely stuck together and forms the foundation of our town’s Cyo and little league all star team. Shout out to Brian Murphy and Steve Marshall for being great coaches, and also to Mike Delagnes for being a great league commissioner. I am interested in coaching my daughter and her 1st grade friends but sadly the YMCA has not yet brought the league back since covid hit - I really hope that changes this winter! If other parents in Marin would also be interested in forming teams, reach out to the ymca and let them know there is demand!

This gym has lots of good equipment and a fantastic pool. Everything is clean well maintained and the people are friendly and respectful. I really enjoy the sauna and jacuzzi. The basketball and handball courts are awesome too.

This is a good YMCA. I’ve been a member at several locations over the years and this location is up there in terms of facility cleanliness, friendly staff and activities they offer. I became a member for the basketball courts, the sauna and the hot tub. I did my weight training at another gym. I played basketball on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 6 am and there was always a turn out of between 10-20 fellas. The run was competitive and the basketball gym itself was really nice. I’d recommend this YMCA for sure.

To YMCA ,
I am currently an active member at Marin YMCA.
The incident happened today Sunday 9/18 during 12 pm to 1:15 pm in Gentle Yoga Class. The instructor Kathy Catalano put her knee under my genitals area while moving her knee up and down against my private, to correct my pose. I stopped and left the class. I reported the incident to a staff. That was not very ok and I was and am very upset.

Excellent value and amenities. The staff is always friendly and all the facilities are clean and well kept. Would be 5-stars for me however, the weight room area is extremely small considering all the real estate they have. Perhaps turn one of the dance rooms or racket room into another weight room? There is a lot of weight lifting equipment missing that extra space could easily accommodate.

Love the YMCA, Don't Love the All of the ongoing Maintenance Issues.

Far from a deal, but with very happy and helpful staff - the Marin County YMCA offers most of what you will need to work out: Pool, Jacuzzi, Sauna, BB Courts, Weights, Machines.

The main issue is their inability to fix things such as the Sauna, Jacuzzi, and Water Cooler. Perhaps they could use less trainers and more janitors.

They kicked everyone out of the basketball gym today on November 9 and 3:30, and left the court with no one playing in it, saying they had “Junior Warriors” at 4:00pm. I am 12 years old, and the reason why I come here is to play basketball until 4, but they kicked everyone out. DO NOT JOIN THIS FACILITY. THE MANAGEMENT IS TERRIBLE. I AM HERE TO WORK OUT AND THEY LEAVE THE GYM EMPTY. AGAIN, DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM IF YOU HAVE KIDS.

I give this star cause it kicker everybody out of the basketball gym on 11/9/18 at 3:30 pm and left the court with nobody playing on it. They leave the court open for an hour before teams practice, leaving little space for individuals. DO NO JOIN THIS GYM!

Awesome staff.
If you are driving from the south, the Google directions are wrong. Los Gamos is permanently closed at 1080, so use the Lucas Valley Road exit or Las Gallinas Ave.
