No showers at all in the mens locker room as the facility decided to foolishly waste funds with an unnecessary and unneeded โshower remodelโ. The mens showers were well utilized by students, faculty & hospital staff without issue and any snowflake needing privacy had the option of using a private shower stall.
Instead why wasnt these funds put towards retrofitting the beloved swimming pool ??
Whos the joker running / ruining this place ?

Great community gym, and the only gym in my area that has a sauna which is a huge plus. Yoga instructor Natalya is amazing and a class I look forward to every weekโ she really facilitates a community feel to her class and she never does the same class twice which keeps things interesting.
I also enjoy the Les mills classes, a workout program which I had previously never heard of before coming to UCSF gym. Body pump in particular is a great beginner weightlifting class for someone like me who I was intimidated by lifting weights.
Due to most members being students or staff at UCSF, the gym culture is such that everyone is very considerate about wiping down equipment, which I appreciate.

The pool is permanently closed.
There are very limited class options, and theyโre always fully booked at least three days in advance. The gym equipment is outdated, and the bathroom has a persistent drainage issue that causes an unpleasant smell. Many facilities are in disrepair. Overall, itโs not worth the cost for what you get.

Between Irving and Parnassus, this gym is ideal for UCSF staffโthough a bit pricey for non-affiliates. However, it offers amazing Les Mills classes and great Pilates instructors.
Tip: Itโs a great place to explore new classes like Barre or the MELT Method, especially if youโre considering the 30-day trial membership

Solid gym. Not too many gym bros and a decent number of classes... but my understanding is the pool will not be returned to service

One of the cleanest gyms that I know in the Bay Area. The only one with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge while working out. Best times late morning and early afternoon.

They have very nice staff there. The equipment is decent and there is a sauna in the locker room. The facilities are a little tired. There were not that many people there when I was there.

Excellent gym with lots of good equipment, few people, and half the price of Equinox. Would be great if they could fill the swimming pool though and get that working.

This gym has a lot of space. It has clean stuff. The staff are nice. It gets a little too busy in the afternoon. I can't complain and I've been very happy with my experience. I'd love to see more squat racks or just a bigger weight section in general but the equipment they have usually gets the job done.

A very clean and serviceable place to lift weights. There's a squat room with three bars, two racks for benching, an open studio and various barbells.

This facility is probably one of the better options in Inner Sunset for its price point. However, the size of the gym and the variety of equipment can't accommodate the number of people flocking to it from 5 pm to 7 pm on weekdays. The gym closes at 7 pm, so I suspect many people try to make it before closing since it's difficult to work out in the middle of the day when you have a 9-5 job. It's impossible to use anything else besides a treadmill during that time (unless you're okay standing in line closely watching someone using equipment you want to use). Had to cancel for that reason + the fact that the pool isn't available at this time.
It is exceptionally clean. Spotless.
The locker room has a pretty weird system with most lockers already being locked. So I guess you need to pay for it. However, they also have unlocked ones (just very little).
Also, if you decide to cancel and your payment day isn't the first of the month, they will charge you for a full month and cancel it on the first of the next month. No prorating.
Had high hopes for this one. Unfortunately, didn't work out :(

Gym and staff seem nice.....but there is a female trainer who initially poses as informative, and is a control freak, she demanded I changed out of scrubs that I was wearing BEFORE work and would not let me continue my workout.First and last time there, will not return to that disrespect.3rd review with her on it. Stay away unless you like being micromanaged by someone with deep seeded control issues!

This gym has good equipment. The only problem is there is a female trainer there every morning, an older woman who acts like she owns the place and micromanages everything you do. She's always watching "please wipe that handle down too" "is this your weight?" "Does that bottle have coffee in it?" With no fail shes next to me yacking away LOUDLY as she trains people while treating you like she is your pizza hut manager. She ruins the place ๐ a bunch of us laughed about it in the locker room. I thought I was the only one ๐คฎ apparently she does it to everyone ugh.

This place is decent. The front staff is very friendly but one particular personal trainer (I won't say any names) red had the audacity to come up and harass me about my water bottle. It is a glass water bottle but the way she went by it was wrong especially because she has seen me bring it to the gym for a whole month and never said anything. Mind you there is NO signs on the wall about no glass bottles. She interrupted me while I was on the tread mill in the middle of my work out with the bottle on the side of the tread mill out of harm's way. I told her red that I will remove it when I was done running and that wasn't good enough. She had one of the front staff come take it from me and moved it behind the front counter. It was very embarrassing. She also tried to sell me one of their aluminum canisters. Very unprofessional.

Good gym. Good nice view of the park and bridge from the cycling, running machines and the elliptical.
Downstairs the weights room is clean, well maintained and has enough for you to work with. The pool and changing rooms are always clean also and thereโs also a sauna.

Went to check out the facilities and ask about membership. I'm a UC Hastings student. I found out access to the weight room, machines, and locker room are free with student ID and proof of class schedule. You have to pay for a membership to get access to the group exercise classes. Super excited about that, but the building is SO confusing.
