As a longtime Equinox member from New York, I’ve gotten used to high-end gym facilities—especially access to a good swimming pool. After relocating to the West Coast, I really missed having a place to swim. Since the nearest Equinox was a 30-minute drive away from where I live, I decided to give the Milpitas Community Center a try.

At first, I was a bit skeptical—this isn’t a big-name gym—but I was simply looking for a pleasant and convenient place to swim. To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised. The outdoor pool gets fantastic sunlight throughout the day, and swimming during sunset was beautiful.

They offer a free trial that gives you full access to the facility for a week—up to three times total—so it’s definitely worth checking out. If you just want to drop in, that’s an option too: it’s $8 for a visit, plus a small processing fee (about $11 total).

The outdoor pool includes a 25-meter lane pool and another one that’s 25 yards long. The facility closes at 9 PM, but note that the pool closes earlier, at 8 PM. Weekend hours may vary, so be sure to check their schedule before heading over.

I took off one star because the shower room is not exactly state-of-the-art. But then again, this is a community center-not a luxury gym-so I still give it a high rating over all.

A few tips: make sure to bring your own towel, a lock for the lockers, and a pair of slippers to wear around the facility.

Bonus: If you’re lucky, you might catch the Mister Softee ice cream truck parked right outside. If you hear the jingle, make sure to treat yourself!!

If you are an adult, just going for friendly games of volleyball, I do not suggest open gym. Save your time. They take almost an hour to warm up and start games. And it starts when "someone" (not staff) decides it should start. Literally just some alpha kid i guess. You also have to sign up on a team. I'm pretty sure we were playing with middle schoolers that did not want us on our team. They claimed we were not on their team and said that we never showed up whenever it started but they never said they were starting. I felt discriminated by my age but it's fine because they were not that good anyways. I felt they needed parents to supervise because their sportsmanship was not welcoming for a community center. Will not be going back. There was also a spilled milkshake in the floor in the hallway that an employee put out a cone for caution, but what they should have done was just clean it up because I almost stepped in it twice cause it was a long spill. Why didn't someone just clean it up?? This place was just an LOL experience. Outdoors seemed good though and relatively safe, so I give the 2 stars for that

Really impressive. Well defined fields for skatepark, volleyball, football and soccer. Swimming pool and gym well maintained. Toilet seems to be newly constructed. Good parking lots. Entry from Kennedy Drive and N. Park Victoria Drive.

Very nice place to ride Skateboard, Scooter, BMX/Bike, Roller Blades, or Quad Skates. No motorized equipment allowed. No Dogs. Wear pads. Surface has great traction, and dries off well after rain.

Lots of room to skate around. You never feel like you're going to bump into anyone. All sort of areas for experts to beginners. Giant bowls and vert area as well as street skating. Loved hanging out in the mini bowl when I was feeling less adventerous

Horrible - most expensive, slowest service, force you to sign up onto a team with random people? Most crowded, 50 lines per tiny court, volleyball open gym in the world, do not go here.
Got here at 5 and they had stand still in a random non-moving line until 5:45... then we start signing in and paying 45 minutes later for no reason whatsoever... and this place is almost double my usual cost to waste an hour of my time and I have to wait multiple games to get a chance to play? Complete waste of time and money, never again. Pay 8$ to play 45 minutes, hell no.

Swimming pool is well maintained . Lots of parking space. It's located within the school district campus. Police also keeps patrolling the area, which adds to safety. I think it is run for the city, which makes the cost very very economical. Their fitness center is also decent. They run some summer camp classes too at nominal fee. Also the Milpitas city residents get some concessions in the fees. Their 4th of July pool party is a big hit in the city and the fireworks happen right behind this location.
