My dream of connecting feeling my feet happened with Leila. She creates a space to give me time to sense. She lets me pay attention to myself. I can breathe and move at the same time. I can remember and breathe and dream and move at the same time. Because she knows how to be in the present moment, I get to feel my feet connect to my glutes. It's sublime.

Finding Mind & Mat has been one of the best things to happen to me since moving to Sebastopol. The Pilates I’m learning has made such a difference in how I move and feel. With Leila’s help, I feel that I am finally taking care of myself so I can keep my body healthy and mobile for years to come. In addition to all that I’m learning and practicing, I really enjoy talking to Leila during our sessions. She is extremely knowledgeable on so many different subjects, and is refreshingly down-to-earth and friendly. I would recommend Leila and Mind & Mat to anyone looking to do something really amazing for themselves.

“I began doing 1:1 pilates reformer sessions with Leila in April 2021 to rehab my sacroiliac hip joint dysfunction and severe sciatica, and it was honestly one of the best decisions I’ve made for my physical and mental wellbeing. Growing up, I was trained as a ballet dancer and also have a family history of osteoarthritis (degenerative arthritis of the hip). When the pandemic began, I, like many others, was required to work remotely. I went from working in-person with my clients and colleagues, having a gym membership and exercising regularly and preparing for my wedding, to sitting in front of my computer for 10 hours a day, 5 days a week. I lived this way for a year and got to a point where I was physically unable to walk down my driveway to get the mail. The hobbies and activities that I once excelled in became a memory of the past; going for a 1 mile hike was out of the question and I even questioned my ability to walk down the aisle at my wedding. At that point, I had remembered a friend of mine telling me about Leila (because my friend knew that I enjoyed Pilates – this was prior to the COVID-19 pandemic). I had never done Pilates on the reformer before, but decided to give it a try. After my first session with Leila, I was HOOKED and have been doing sessions with her 3 times a week ever since. I am stronger in ways that I have never been, and I no longer experience the excruciating pain that I was living with. Leila has extensive knowledge and expertise in classical Pilates reformer training, the mind-body connection, human anatomy/physiology, and teaching her clients how to rebuild and maintain an overall healthy lifestyle. Her approach is friendly, informative and EFFECTIVE, and I have recommended Leila to several of my family members and friends often stating that she quite literally “saved my life”.”

Leila has helped me fall in love with Pilates. She’s able to help me target small muscles that need to build strength while avoiding aggravating my injuries. As a teacher she is patient, kind, and determined. If you want to get stronger, work with Leila at Mind & Mat.

I came to Leila on a recommendation from my acupuncturist who suggested that Pilates might help with some foot/ankle issues I had been having. I had experience with yoga, but not Pilates, so I was a little nervous. Any apprehension I had faded away immediately, since Leila is very warm, welcoming, and patient. She is extremely knowledgeable about Pilates and other movement modalities and has a very good knowledge of anatomy, which was important to me. As a teacher, her instructions are always clear and she's always willing to work with whatever condition you show up in on a particular day. In just a short amount of time, my issues have started to improve and I feel great. I cannot recommend her enough!

I have had many injuries that effect my mobility, flexibility, and cause chronic pain. Working as a RN for 18 yrs has also been hard on my body. Leila is a gift. She meets me wherever I am that day and then challenges me. She is incredibly knowledgeable about human physiology and anatomy, along with being intuitive. I highly recommend her.

I'm so glad to have found Leila. I have been doing private pilates with her for the past year. I've also enjoyed her group classes so much.

She is very knowledgeable about the workings of the body, muscles, and healing body alignment. She's helped me trouble shoot issues I've had my entire life with the way I walk. She is also really knowledgeable on healing post partum physical issues. Her studio is lovely and serene and she herself has a relaxing and soothing presence. I always leave our sessions feeling great.

I've had a hip replacement, do work thats hard on my body, and am very active. Leila has an incredible scope of knowledge and has been able to fine tune out workouts to balance and strengthen my body so that I no longer have pain. She gives me things I can do at home between sessions as well, that fit our goals and are doable with no big equipment. Id highly recommend her to everyone.

Leila has made my body self-care practice something I look forward to and enjoy, as well as something that feeds my soul!

Her depth of knowledge about Pilates and meditation go beyond her classical training and decades of personal experience - she has the ability to personalize your sessions, tailored to your body’s specific needs as they change from day to day, while also maintaining the bigger vision towards long term body (and mind!) goals. She has extensive expertise about all the equipment in her office and knows how to include modifications for everything to fit your body’s needs.

She has exceptional integrity and compassion, can be both playful and serious at the same time, she is completely accepting and non-judgmental, and her intuitive presence makes her the only Pilates professional I can trust.

As a former athlete, dancer and backpacker by lifestyle, when my body started to age and it got harder to move well, I became discouraged about what type of regular movement could actually help me feel better. We have been working together for over 3 years with my chronic stress and grief induced shoulder and hip tightness, my scoliosis that is making spine mobility get worse with time and compression, and compromised wrists that had made doing most gym classes of yoga or Pilates nearly impossible. I can honestly say I feel more at home in my body than I ever have before - in large part thanks to Leila.

I highly encourage you to treat your body and mind to the help and holding it deserves, go see Leila at Mind & Mat… you will never look back!
