I thoroughly enjoyed my expierence here.... I have 3 kids that attended ages 10, 8 and 4. My 10 and 8 year old did not know so much as to even doggy paddle when we started. A month later after attending sessions 1-2x a week they both are swimming in the deep end now. They are continuing to improve and learn new techniques and I am so very grateful. The staff are patient and kind, the pool is heated making the expierence even better for the kids to learn. I have enjoyed our time and expierence here. Highly recommend.

I'm extremely disappointed with my experience at Missions Racquet and Swim Club. As a lap swimmer, I was consistently frustrated with the lack of pool space. Despite being a member, I'd arrive for my laps only to find the pool taken over by classes and teams. It made it impossible to get a decent swim in.

But the final straw was when they closed the pool without notice while I was in the middle of my laps. No warning, no notice - just a closed pool. When I complained to the pool director, I was met with a dismissive response that said, "We're aware of the situation." No apology, no solution, no effort to improve.

The classes I've observed are more like moral lectures than swim classes, with coaches lounging around the pool instead of coaching. The restrooms are consistently dirty, and the pool area is always under construction. It's clear that member satisfaction isn't a priority.

Be cautious of their billing practices - they charge the following month in advance, and canceling is a nightmare. It took 3-4 emails to finally get my membership canceled, and even then, I had to fight for it.

Overall, I'd advise others to think twice before joining Missions Racquet and Swim Club. The lack of customer service, poor pool management, and questionable business practices make it a frustrating and stressful experience.

I am the Tennis Director of the Northern California Chinese Culture-Athletic Federation (NCCCAF) and the head provider of the Bay Area Tennis UTR Club.

Over the past five years, as an organizer, I’ve been fortunate to work with many tennis captains and players in the Bay Area and hold numerous events at Mission Hills Club, a place we proudly call our home. Nestled at the foot of Mission Hills and surrounded by lush greenery, the club has 13 tennis courts and offers one of the most beautiful natural environments and best playing conditions in the Bay Area. Playing tennis at Mission Hills is truly an enjoyable experience.

For the past five years, the Zijing Cup Alumni Tennis Team Championships, one of the most beloved events among alumni tennis players, has been held here every year. Each summer, the SO Cup, one of the highest-level amateur tournaments, attracts top players, including former WTA players and competitors who have played in the US Open, to Mission Hills. They all praise the club’s outstanding tennis facilities and atmosphere.

Compared with other clubs such as Bay Club, Mission Hills focuses its limited resources on enhancing the core value of membership, court access and playing experience. Although it doesn’t have luxurious locker rooms or other high-end amenities, this approach allows members to enjoy lower membership fees while fully experiencing what truly matters: great tennis courts. If you are a tennis lover, I wholeheartedly recommend Mission Hills Club.

A quick side note, the club manager, John Chen, is an alumnus of University of Chicago, a professional administrator, and a passionate USTA 4.5C (UTR 7.5) tennis player. He’s friendly, helpful, and has been an active supporter of the Bay Area tennis community for many years. If you love tennis, you’ll definitely have plenty in common with him.

Because Mission Hills is surrounded by trees and nature, parking spaces are somewhat limited. Normally, parking is not an issue, but during large tournaments, it can be harder to find a spot. Players and spectators may need to park in nearby residential areas or across the street at the commercial plaza, only about a 3–5 minute walk away.

There was a review from a person named Philip H, which was completely unreasonable. For all our tournaments, we clearly instruct participants and spectators to follow the parking rules. Any illegal parking will result in towing. Mr. Philip H parked his car on prohibited areas such as grass and tree roots, which caused damage to the club property. He must take responsibility for his own actions.

I tried to contact the owner of this club in vain and felt they have blocked my phone number. Therefore I was forced to write this review.
On 10/5/25, I went to this club and planned to watch the tournament held that day. When I first arrived, I found it very hard to find a parking space, I drove in the parking circle 2-3 times, still unable to find a spot on the paved road. Then I parked at a spot between two tall trees off the road in the club. Thinking it wouldn't block the road. Then went in to watch. 10 min. later I saw a friend attending this tournament. She said she felt upset becasue her car was towed. I started to have a bad feeling. Went straight back to check my car. First I thought my car was stolen and called 911. Then Police said it was towed. I was very surprised at their efficiency. Like predators have been waiting for their preys. It caused me more than $600 to get the car back. The towing company said the owner hired them.
This is the first club I ever know would tow their valued/potential customers' cars. This club is short of parking spots and is not designed to hold a tournament like it. At least the operation team should have people there or have enough/clear signs everywhere to direct people to park somewhere else. For my case, I didn't even see one at the time I parked. The tow sign was placed further inside the club area.
People/players come with a good mood to see the event and get a big hammer blow on themselves. Is this right? I think the owner should start to think about it. I will encourage more people to come out and say what they think. I strongly recommend not to come to this club. There is a big predator waiting for you.

I’ve been using Mission Hills Racquet and Swim Club primarily for swimming, and there are several aspects I really enjoy. The outdoor heated pool is a fantastic feature, making swimming enjoyable year-round. The surrounding pines add a nice touch to the ambiance, and the chairs and umbrellas near the pool are functional and serve their purpose well.

However, there are some areas that need improvement. The men’s locker room, in particular, is a significant issue. The lockers are often dirty and filled with garbage like food containers, old tennis racquets, and dirty clothes. It can take 10-15 minutes just to find a clean locker, which is quite frustrating. Despite bringing this up with the staff multiple times, there hasn’t been any change.

The gym is small but adequate for basic workouts. It would be great to have a pull-up bar added to the equipment available.

Overall, while the club has some great features, the cleanliness and maintenance of the locker rooms need urgent attention to enhance the member experience.

I wish there was a way to give ZERO STARS. We signed up our 11 year old for lessons. The kid had zero experience in tennis and we wanted him to learn and love the game. Within 2 weeks, this horrible place made my son hate tennis and develop a fear of coaches.

The coaches have zero patience with kids. Making them do laps for making mistakes in 100+ temperatures. Ok, I can be fine with laps because it’s part of coaching in many sports. But then the coach kept telling my 11 year old that he’s wasting her time. How can you say this to an 11 year old? Are you in the business of bullying children? If you don’t like the job, QUIT!!!! How dare you bully my son?

Please keep your children safe from these horrible bullies if you love them. They literally ruined any chances of my son ever playing tennis again.

I attended the Adult beginning class. I left this comment because the club claimed to me that all the coaches are very experienced; however, during the class, I haven't heard my coach teaching anything for a beginner to learn basic tennis skills including front-hand, back-hand, steps skills. They asked people to do various running activities without any explanations: asked people to serve the ball out of the boundary and then asked people (as the beginner) to hit the foul ball that usually fell out of the boundary. This is definitely useless and harmful for the beginner to learn the fundamental tennis skills; no one wants to start by learning hitting the ball that is out. The activities were just like free social meetup, and people ended by keeping running on the court and using wrong body actions to hit the tennis ball. Based on that, the club's word is not trustable. I won't recommend anyone who really wants to learn tennis to attend this class.

I attended the Adult Clinic (Beginner) and quitted in the middle of the class. It is a useless and misleading class for beginners and wastes both my money and time. The content of the class is useless and misleading, which is harmful for a beginner to learn tennis. The class is a scam/joke and nothing but a social meetup event.

I am only a member of the Fitness center, so this review is just for that. The fitness center is *basic* at best, and in the next 3 months, the club is planning to raise the monthly fitness membership prices to a whopping 69$ a month. Also, they are forcing us to take the swim membership, when some of us will never even use it.
Not even high end gyms with FAR MORE amenities (swimming, raquetball courts, basketball courts included) charge that much.
At Mission Hills Fitness center, there are -
- hardly any group fitness classes
- several key machines are missing
- the sauna has been shut down ever since I joined.
- the studio doesn't have an inbuilt sound system (which would be a given in even a 20$ gym)
- the yoga mats are unclean and never, ever wiped
- the room that stores yoga mats, foam rollers, blankets is NEVER put together.
At 35-40$ a month, these flaws may be acceptable, but this is definitely NOT a $65+ club that it is touting itself to be. How disappointing that the Management is gouging money from the Fitness center members, when they know that beyond the measly locker room upgrades, they haven't done anything to the gym that adds significant value for the fitness only members. Your core business is the Tennis club and you are understandably making great developments there, so increase those fees by all means, but why shoot up the gym fees when there has been virtually no needle-moving change in the fitness center.
I have zero complaints for the front desk staff, and the few group fitness trainers - they are all great, and kind, courteous people. All these complaints are for the management and their price gouging which has irked and troubled many of us fitness-only members.
Not to be petty, but even the gym coffee that used to be served in paper cups before, has now been downgraded to styrofoam cups, which are terrible for hot drinks (and for your members' healths). Definitely not what a 70$ club would do!

I had an exceptional experience at the tennis practices in Mission Hills, Fremont, California, under the guidance of Coach Phillip Graham and Coach Max Taylor. Their expertise and dedication to improving players' skills were evident from the very start. The personalized attention and insightful feedback helped me refine my technique and enhance my overall game.

Coach Phillip Graham's precise instructions and focus on fundamentals significantly elevated my understanding of the sport. His deep knowledge and ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear and engaging manner made each session highly valuable.

Coach Max Taylor brought a dynamic and motivational approach to the practices, pushing me to achieve my best on the court. His enthusiasm and encouragement inspired me to push my limits and strive for continuous improvement. The duo's collaboration created a balanced and comprehensive training environment that catered to players of all levels.

The facilities at Mission Hills were top-notch, providing a fantastic backdrop for our training sessions. Overall, I highly recommend the tennis practices at Mission Hills in Fremont, California, with Coach Phillip Graham and Coach Max Taylor to anyone looking to elevate their tennis game and have an enriching learning experience.

I used to go here as a kid from ages 10-13. It was okay, Fast forward 20 years....you have new management, friendly coaching staff (tennis & fitness) , pickleball courts, renovated locker rooms, extremely clean pool, and just an amazing atmosphere encased in its own mini forest ecosystem. Love it here.

Plus they have great events like tennis tournaments, dance classes, and more.

Having both practiced and played tournaments at the courts here in Mission Hills, I can honestly say that these are one of my, if not my most favorite places in the bay to play tennis. The courts here are very well maintained and are beautiful to play at as well, especially when looking at the peaceful surroundings. The staff also are always super friendly and helpful with any questions or requests I have had. I highly recommend the club to all who are interested!

My family has been a longtime member of this club (formally Kimberwoods Club),since it was established in 1976. It is like a jewel nesting in hundreds of redwood trees. After changing the ownership two years ago, the new owners have been making substantial improvements. Kudos to John,owner/ manager. All 13 outdoor tennis courts have been resurfaced. New junior and children programs coached by an experience team are outstanding. The gym is clean and has a lot of upgraded equipments. It has a separate room for personal training. The club also has a new table tennis table and a new basketball hoop. After workout or playing table tennis , we like to walk around this place enjoying the beautiful mission foothill scenery, resting at the patio,or the poolside. We regularly attend virtual fitness classes -yoga, Zumba or cardio, the instructors are nice. We visit this place almost every day like our second home.
This is a nice family club for all to enjoy, staffs are friendly and the price is very reasonable. I highly recommend this club.

both me and my son have been playing tennis and attending coaching sessions at this club for about 7-8 months now. We have seen significant improvement in facilities over this period. John is doing a tremendous job. The staff is very friendly and helpful. In particular my experience with coach Max and John have been great. They are excellent trainers, who have helped me identify my shortcomings as a player. They are full of advice and encouragement on how one can improve the game.

I used to come here as a kid for the summer tennis clinics. In the last couple years, management has changed and John took over, making significant improvements to the tennis courts, gym, and ambience of the place.

This is a great place for tennis, not too crowded, and has a nice "nature" feel, where you can even smell the trees. The courts are well maintained, and so is the gym and pool.

John is really nice and makes the place feel very welcoming. Its always a great experience playing at Mission Hills Racquet Club.

This is probably the best tennis club in the East Bay. Two things really stand out:

- The staff is super nice. The management treats members like friends and tennis buddies instead of just "customers".

We have been club members of the Mission Hills Racquet and Swim Club since March 2017, however we stopped our membership from Jan 2018-July 2019 to poor and rude management. Recently the club was was taken over by a completely new management under John Chen. We have been very happy with with this change - John is very focused on providing a positive customer experience. He has made changes to both the fitness classes and the tennis sessions offered after listening to members' feedback. The tennis courts have been recently resurfaced and the club house is being revamped as well. He is very approachable and is available at all times to embrace feedback and implement changes as he sees appropriate. Would definitely recommend this club as it is family friendly and is located in a beautiful setting in the Fremont Mission San Jose neighborhood.

I first learned of Mission Hills Racquet and Swim Club in 2018. I had just moved to Fremont and was looking for a place to play tennis. When I toured the facility, I found the club completely run down. Most tennis courts had significant cracks, weeds grew out of said cracks, and the surface paint was almost entirely faded. The weight room was equally unimpressive. I didn't join, and instead played at Fremont Tennis Center.

In January 2020, I learned that the Mission Hills club had new management with ambitious goals to renovate the entire grounds, including resurfacing all tennis courts, reinstating USTA league, building a larger swimming pool, and build a larger gym to accommodate weight lifting.

I took a leap of faith and joined the club, and have been happy with my decision thus far. There have been several notice-able improvements since I've joined:

1) Over half the tennis courts have been completely resurfaced, with fresh new paint, and new nets.
2) The old and broken fences surrounding the tennis courts have been replaced with new fences.
3) The swimming pool has been replaced.
4) Tennis courts are always cleaned, so that leaves from surrounding trees do not risk injury to players.
5) Online system was introduced to register for fitness/yoga classes.

Honestly, in these trying times with COVID-19, I would have quit membership. What ultimate keeps me as a paying customer is the fantastic customer service. A couple examples that really stand out are:

1) Management remembers everyone by first name basis. They put in effort to be welcoming and make conversation.
2) During shelter in place, management adopted an online system for members to join fitness classes through video call.

Seeing the positive changes in recent months excites me to see the club achieve their remaining goals. The club is well on its way to becoming a great alternative, and much more local feel, to Bay Club.
