What a great studio! It's large, there's plenty of parking, and the acoustics are wonderful! I was there for the Majesty drag show and had the best time enjoying amazing performers!

Let’s say you’re an adult. Let’s say you’ve never danced before OR you’ve not danced in years OR you’re a gosh darn pro who can pop out 17million pirouettes in a row. Let’s also say that you’re looking for an inclusive studio to belong to. Well c’mon down, ‘cause guess what? This is THE spot. Offering more adult classes in various styles than any other studio in the Santa Cruz area you have Motion Pacific. Or MoPa as I call it. I’ve been dancing here for almost as long as I’ve been dancing, so I’m biased. But then again, I started dance as an adult. I’ve grown with MoPa, as they have grown with me. It’s a place to just be comfortable in your body. Whatever that body is. Rife with technique, while also abundant in somatics. Filled to the brim with nonjudgmental folx of all types who always have space for more. Hell… let’s even say you’re a hetero dudeguy like me. Yeah! You’re still welcome, so long as you can, you know…not be “that guy”. Nobody wants “that guy” regardless of the environment. Duh. Anyway, come on down. And no, I’m not employed by or compensated in any way by MoPa. I just love the space.

I love the adult classes at Motion! High quality instructors who put together fun and creative classes, while still making them accessible to a variety of different experience levels/physical ability. Their special events, like Majesty, are always so much fun! Overall a very positive and inclusive dance community.

Super fun classes, making it easy to learn even as an adult! They have a lot of courses to try, and the outdoor dance floor is lit up at night, plus shaded during the day. Very nice!

Motion Pacific is more than a dance studio! It's brought so much community and magic and movement and JOY into my life. I feel endlessly grateful to have found this space and these people. They have classes for all ages/levels/styles!! Instructors are passionate, brilliant and kind. Dancing with Motion is one of my very favorite things-Thank you!

I’ve danced at Motion Pacific off and on since I was a little girl. I’ve always had wonderful experiences with motion. The studio environment is incredibly supportive; both the staff and the dancers are very welcoming. The events are super fun as well and definitely my favorite way to spend a Saturday.
The adult classes are challenging and fun with good choreography and knowledgeable teachers.
I highly recommend checking them out.

Motion Pacific was the best find while I lived in Santa Cruz! I took Melissa’s jazz and burlesque classes as well as Meredith’s burlesque class and felt stronger as a woman because of it! Whenever I am in town I make sure to take a class! I definitely miss my MP family!

Motion Pacific is my home away from home!! They have the best variety of adult classes with amazing instructors. The studio is a highly inclusive space which strives to reach all corners of our community to offer dance to all. Motion Pacific has created a beautiful dance community for all ages. I am lucky to call many of the teachers there now my friends. Come find your rhythm at Motion. You will not be disappointed.

I am a huge fan of Motion Pacific and specifically Rachel’s Ballet Basics class! Rachel’s technique is beautiful to watch, but more importantly, she explains ballet concepts clearly and patiently, she loves questions, and she creates a fun, no-pressure environment which is great for older and new dancers. The music she choreographs her barres and centers to is lovely. Looking forward to the day we can all meet at the studio again.

I've been dancing at Motion Pacific for almost four years. The teachers are engaging, welcoming, and supportive. The class offerings are diverse with lots of options for adults. The performances are so popular they almost always sell out. I would highly recommend the studio to anyone interested in solo dance genres.

Lean-to Productions (Rachael Lincoln and Leslie Seiters) had the great pleasure of being presented as part of Motion Pacific's 2013 season. I can't say more positive things about our week-long experience of being in the space. Abra was fantastic to deal with from months in advance to our departure - such clear communication, accessibility, warmth, and flexibility; the space was perfect for our intimate performance - many options for seating and staging; the publicity and marketing were exceptional; the technical support was unbelievable (Chip immediately said "yes" to everything we needed and was a skillful lighting designer, adept with video, and ran the shows flawlessly); our workshop had a solid turn-out from a great community of dancers... I could go on and on. This country needs more spaces like Motion Pacific and more presenters like Abra. Thank you guys - We hope to come back again!!
