I am so happy Mountain Yoga exists. A great range of classes and teachers for every skill level. Ann Dyer (and the rest of the teachers here) has gone above and beyond to create series for every kind of interest and practitioner. I feel (as a perpetual beginner to yoga) well supported and happy to show up to classes - in person or remote. Thank you Mountain Yoga!

Mountain Yoga is much more than a yoga studio and practice. Ann has created a community, weaving in meditation, chanting, fascinating speakers, fantastic workshops and retreats. The best part for me is that you get all these benefits without the pretension you sometimes find in a yoga studio — Ann and her team are down to earth, meet you where you are, and make it easy to fit right in. Highly recommended

Mountain Yoga is a studio where students can take a class and feel welcomed and their needs met regardless of how long they have been practicing. The teachers tailor make poses based upon the individual’s comfort level. The secret weapon is the teachers Ann, Baxter, Bette, Sarah, Mindy and others who each have their own unique styles of practice. Want to try a new teacher …no problem your dues can apply to all the classes. As a veteran of many Bay Area yoga studios over the years, this is one of the best out there. Give it a try you won’t be disappointed!

I’ve been practicing yoga at M-Y for four years, the past three via Zoom. As an active senior, my goals have been balance, flexibility and strength maintenance. It’s been easy to find instructors whose styles, degree of challenge and schedules meet my needs. Yoga posture, movement, breathing and meditation now influence every other aspect of my day.

Mountain Yoga has something for everyone. The teachers are all warm and welcoming and take their students on voyages of discovery using movement as the guide. They create practice spaces where everyone can participate at their own pace and level. Curiosity and exploration are encouraged and embraced, and breath is the centerpiece. If you are new to yoga, or a long-time practitioner you will find your tribe here.

Mountain Yoga in Oakland is a beautifully connected community. Beyond yoga, they have many unique offerings including meditation, chanting and the Feldenkrais Method. All of these modalities enrich my life and have helped me heal past injuries & illness. I've been a member for many years. Highly recommend!

I recently joined Mountain Yoga after having gone to a wonderful studio, Loka Yoga for many years. The pandemic brought about many changes, one of them the closure of many long time beloved studios. But do NOT despair! Mountain Yoga has survived and thrived through it all. I never thought I would find a new "yoga home". Mountain Yoga has a class for any level of ability and physical limitation. There is a wide variety of instructors with many different approaches. More classes are being offered in-person so I have gotten to meet many new people. Everyone has been welcoming.

Mountain Yoga is my go to yoga studio. The instructors are all superb. MY provides a nice variety of classes. I have enjoyed the workshops that provide a deep dive into a specific pose. Never thought I'd enjoy focusing on a pose but Ann breaks down the pose in a masterful way that allows me to do more than I'd ever hoped! Thanks MY for getting me through the pandemic...

I have been going to Mountain Yoga for many years. I always find a class that matches what my body and spirit need. Lately I have moved between classes with Mindy and classes with Baxter. All the teachers are attentive, thoughtful, and able to help students adapt their practice as needed.

Mountain Yoga saved my sanity when my husband was ill, and gave me tools, both physical and meditative, to live through the COVID pandemic. The management and teachers are superb. I have favorites, but have never been disappointed in any class. The whole organization is sensitive, skilled and responsive. There are many different styles and levels of difficulty in yoga to choose from, and personalized advice is always available. They were able to keep the organization open by creating an excellent Zoom program during the pandemic. Getting back to in-person classes is a joy, and the convenience of still having Zoom available is great! Unquestionably 5 star!

Dr. Baxter Bell, not only offers a continually evolving practice, his medical knowledge of the human body and his communication skills allows me to explore the asanas with closed eyes. A fantastic experience that I highly recommend.

Mountain yoga has been my lifesaver during COVID! I love the classes and especially appreciate Baxter Bell, who is a physician and holistic yoga teacher combining the physical asanas with the other foundations of yoga like pranayama, mudras, and moments of reflection, inspiration and meditation. I am always more at peace and content after his classes. Thank you Baxter!!

I can’t fully express the positive impact that MY has had on my life. Baxter Bell and Gail Wallace have helped me become stronger and more focused in my daily practice… all with humor and a deep understanding of anatomy and of the complex and various facets of yoga.

I have been going to Mountain Yoga for at least 15 years and have always enjoyed and learned from the classes. I've experienced a number of different teachers there and have found them all attuned to tailoring the poses to the different abilities and capacities of the different students and never pushing people to do things that might be harmful or dangerous. They are also rigorous in their approach and usually have a different theme or intention for each class so it almost never feels repetitive or boring. The emphasis is being in your body, not on pushing your body to its limits.

My husband and I have spent many Sunday mornings attending Ann’s classes. These mornings are calming, centering, at times challenging and always rewarding! Ann and her fellow teachers (we have experienced Perry and Dari) are attentive, kind, supportive and knowledgeable, Each teacher is unique and yet clearly connected in their compassionate, careful, and experienced approaches. Time well spent developing our physical, emotional and spiritual bodies!

I followed Dari Love from Loka about 6 months ago. I love this location too! She's so talented at explaining the poses to me a newbee, and I've got stronger and more flexible, while learning to listen to my body and understand more about Yoga and the purpose of a practice. I have also really enjoyed classes with Anne, who is the only other teacher I've practiced with thus far.

This studio has been a blessing for me, specially during these difficult three years during the Covid epidemic. With their online classes, I could still experience community through zoom, and now with their in person and zoom classes I can choose whether I want an in person or an online experience. The teachers are very committed and knowledgeable about yoga. Ann Dyer Cervantes’ leadership is crucial to ensuring a healthy dose of yoga philosophy to ancient texts, chants, meditation, sound meditation and first rate Hatha yoga. Every teacher I have experienced is very conscious in providing a safe and welcoming experience. Ann’s programming offerings are unique and thoughtfully curated giving members and first timers an opportunity to dive into experiences you don’t find in other studios, with hands on workshops, special programs like Yoga Nidra, Sound and music experiences, and much more.

This gem of a studio is focused on improving the health and lives of its community. In addition to yoga for all levels and ages the studio offers morning meditation, chanting, yoga of writing and other innovative offerings. The studio is fueled by the passion and creativity of its owner Ann Dyer Cervantes, my wife!

Mountain Yoga has been part of my person well being for many years. Wonderful, highly trained, dedicated teachers each with their own special take on yoga, make Mountain Yoga, a place for everyone, regardless of experience level. The morning sound meditation with Ann which started in the pandemic is a brilliant experience of deep listening and has helped me "be in the moment" in other areas of my life. The studio offers many riches. Some of my favorites being, Feel Good Fridays, Community Chant and the morning meditation sessions.

I returned to Yoga in late 2022 after a 20 year hiatus and am so grateful that I found Mountain Yoga. I felt at home and included right from the start. Ann Dyer Cervantes has depth on so many levels that I am always learning something new. I have now expanded to other instructors and am equally happy. Highly recommend this studio.

I have been a yoga student at Mountain Yoga for about six years. I have always felt comfortable there. The staff are welcoming and warm. The teachers are very well trained and kind. Whether you are a beginner or have more experience you will find classes that are appropriate. In mixed classes all levels are given options. The inspiration series events are especially interesting and fun. This year in December I will go on my first retreat...to Mexico with Ann Dyer Cervantes. Come try us! You won't be sorry!
