An old school, classic, and historic gym that has seen body building legends like Mike Mentzer, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Franco Columbu, Joe Weider, and so many others. This is a must visit location by any gym rat or body building enthusiast for sure. The gym is exposed to the elements so some of the machine/cables are a tad worn and rusty but they also have plenty of free weights like barbells and dumbbells too. An all day pass is only $10 which can be paid for in the small white recreational building just outside the gym.

Great gym, always good vibes and the day pass is worth it… but please clean the cables bro I touched the stack and had some black ink on my hand cuh I thought I caught some disease and it gets stuck so the cable moves very slowly. But other than that, it’s valid.

The environment was exceptional. Equipment could use some upgrades. It’s an outdoor gym so I can understand things will be a little rusty, but between cables being loose on some equipment and the seat adjustments getting stuck, even wd40 could address these with minimal costs. Ist schon etwas besonderes dort zu trainieren, man sollte aber von den Geräten nicht zuviel erwarten. Die Wartung könnte besser sein und man merkt den Geräten an, dass die beweglichen Teile abends abmontiert und eingelagert werden müssen. Mir ist die Notwendigkeit klar, aber darunter leiden die Geräte. ansonsten ist zu bemängeln, dass es keine Umkleidemöglichkeit gibt. Dennoch hat es es eben mehr als nur etwas in einer solchen Ungebung zu trainieren.
Sollte es mich nochmals dorthin verschlagen und ich habe die Zeit, werde auch wieder dort trainieren.

Muscle Beach Venice Gym is legendary and a Mecca for all old school bodybuilding and gym goers.

About an hours walk from Santa Monica Pier, positioned on the side of a busy tourist street and the sand from the beach you’ll find this exciting open air gym.

This place is nothing flash at all and most of the equipment is tired and tarnished from the salty sea air but who cares. Muscle Beach Gym is the home of past legends and where bodybuilding was born. All the big names of the past have left their mark in this gym such as Joe Weider, Joe Gold, Bill Pearl and of course Arnold Schwarzenegger himself.

Anyone can train here for a small fee of $10 for a day pass. If you’re into your gym work then plan your time to spend $10 and stake your place in history along with the giants of the past just to be able to say…. You’ve worked out at Muscle Beach.

I love the legendary Muscle Beach and I used to always love stop by to get a quick pump whenever we came to Venice Beach. I highly recommend it. Get your pump on before you take your shirt off and hit the beach or boardwalk! Equipment is old and rusty, but that's part of the charm, and don't forget: Arnold used to work out there!

Great experience but needs some tlc. The inside area has not been cleaned in a long time and no one knows how to put weights away. Staff need to pick up their gym management game and clean up/ re stack the dumbbells each night if their members are not capable

An outdoor experience to participate in, whether it’s weightlifting, exercising machines, bags or the ultimate competitions!
There’s the competition spectator section, outdoor Hall of Fame and a designated workout spot for a fee.
I’ve got club memberships at regular local gyms, so I’ve opted out of paying the minimum fee of $10 to work out here. Tho if I were with friends, I’d probably go for it, mindful of all the visitors cameras.

Polecam jeśli ktoś chce poćwiczyć jak kiedyś Arnold :) Jednorazowe wejście kosztuje 10 USD, jest na cały dzień. Płatność w obskurnym budynku obok siłowni - na szczęście obsługa bardzo miła. Siłka głównie pod wolne ciężary, maszyny oparte o dokładanie talerzy, kilka wyciągów ale nie w najlepszym stanie. Dużo sztang, hantli i talerzy. Fajna atmosfera do treningu :)
Obok są sklepy z koszulkami - uwaga na ceny, koszulka kosztuje 9,99 USD, ale o czym nie mówią to że nadruk na nią kosztuje już kolejne 25 USD.
Z tylu czerwonego budynku jest super mural z Arnoldem, warto zrobić sobie tam zdjęcie.

Great place to go and workout outdoor. The equipment they have is more than enough for a great workout.
Is an amazing experience to go and workout where many big names of the body building used to train together.
You can just go and take pictures.
If you want to actually train you need to pay a 10 USD day pass at an office that is next to it.
Public parking lot at venice beach is 9 USD per day. And is like 3 min walking distance.
You will meet regulars to the gym, but also many people who is just visiting, like I did.
