I’ve been practicing yoga on and off at home for a while, and occasionally taking classes at Equinox in San Mateo. I’ve been patient with my goal of becoming a yogi, but I always felt like something was missing—like hands-on guidance from teachers, longer classes, and more advanced poses.
Then I signed up for classes at Nandi Yoga—and I was totally hooked. Every teacher is kind, attentive, and supportive, especially Wendy, the owner. Now, I’m genuinely excited to practice yoga every single day. Thank you, Nandi Yoga!

Looks like a nice studio. The place looks very modern. I went there for a kirtan event. Not sure how the classes or teachers are. This is only for the studio.

Love this yoga studio! One of the few places that has prenatal and postnatal yoga. Great instructors (Diane is the best!), convenient location, comfortable studio, and variety of classes and times available.

I have been practicing at Nandi for awhile now. This studio offers all kinds of classes and the teachers are outstanding. Nandi offers Jivamukti classes which I practice. Jeremy, Wendy, Jen and Chris Hill are excellent Jivamukti teachers. I love when Jeremy talks about the focus of the month and how it relates to our daily lives.
Nandi is a very good place to practice real yoga!

While visiting San Mateo, I have repeatedly found Nandi Yoga to be an awesome place to do yoga with its high-quality classes and facilities. Nandi has two beautiful studios with wooden floors and natural light. I found the lack of mirrors really added to the calming and non-judgmental vibe of the experience here. The instructors, staff, and members are very kind and welcoming. The yoga teachers are quite thoughtful with their instructions and constantly offer ideas and input to help you adjust, customize, and deepen your yoga practice. Nandi provides a mix of shorter and longer classes in different styles of yoga. I would definitely recommend Nandi Yoga to anyone seeking a regenerative, enriching, and calming yoga experience and community.

I've been going to Nandi for a few months now and love it. There are a wide range of classes to fit level or style, or energy level for that matter. The teachers have all been super welcoming and helpful. And there's a great community of students who are also positive and friendly.

I have been a member at Nandi since April. I was given an introductory pass as a gift. I had been away from yoga for almost 3 years. I was hesitant to go to a new studio, but my past one had closed shortly after COVID.
I found the vibe welcoming with flexible memberships to fit your needs and schedule. If I can't make my 23ish minute drive to the studio, I can participate live via zoom or request the video to use at my convenience. Teachers are different and challenging, always offering variations to suit your ability. I have met some great students too.
Nandi meets all yoga levels with positivity and inclusion, both very important to me. I love watching the younger, more advanced students, and feel comfortable at my "medium" level, as I am gaining strength and flexibility with every class.

I've been taking yoga classes at Nandi since it opened. The studios are beautiful and very clean. They offer use of props like blocks, straps, and other items that can help you build your practice. They teach classes in many levels and in many styles and disciplines. There's something for everyone.
The best thing about Nandi is the teachers. They are top notch and many are trained right there in the studio. In the classes, the teachers offer many options, from the "easiest" level of the pose to the more advanced options. This allows you to customize your practice for your skill level or to accommodate any injuries you might have.
Nandi is a small, women owned business which I love to support. Give Nandi a try! I highly recommend it.

I’ve been going to Nandi for almost a decade, even throughout the pandemic. The classes are amazing. The special workshops offer things you can’t get every day like celebrity teachers or a deep dive into one particular topic. The teachers offer a variety of styles and levels. And they’ve continued online classes, live or recorded, which really makes it easy to grab a class whenever you want.
It’s clean, well run and has become an anchor in the community. Come on out and join us!!

Nandi is such a wonderful studio. I have been practicing here for over 5 years and have only grown to appreciate the classes and community more. The teachers are exceptional and so is the vibe. I am especially a fan of their Jivamukti classes - great asana practice and chanting.

I'm a longtime fan of Nandi Yoga and have taken classes with a couple teachers –– all fabulous (Wendy, Jeremy, Diane, and Monika)! I love how welcoming the studio and every teacher is. Teachers teach to a range of abilities and offer slightly different approaches. Wherever you might be on the physical to metaphysical continuum on a given day, I'm always glad "I made it to yoga!"
I also appreciate the strong community feel – and really admire how the owners run Nandi to reflect yoga values; walking the walk. Huge thanks and gratitude!

Nandi Yoga is a gift to San Mateo. The teachers are thoughtful and experienced. They are at a higher quality of instruction level than the classes gyms or corporate studios offer.
There are variety of classes to find something for everyone. Also, there is a weekly free community class. I've been going here since it opened 16 years ago. The best part is the community environment and the special classes on holidays.

I took the Saturday morning prenatal yoga class on Jan 6, 2024 and the experience was so bad I wish I'd asked for a refund.
The studio did not put a cap on walk-ins. As a result, many people came late and the room overflowed. There wasn't enough space to properly do yoga. Not only that, but they ran out of equipment (blocks, bands) and the instructor Diane tried to take my personal band that I use to secure and carry my yoga mat and give it to another student to put her bare feet into. This was incredibly offputting. I could tell she was desperate, so I don't blame her so much as the office staff for allowing this to happen.
At one point, she asked us all to go to the wall for a stretch and there just wasn't enough room for this. This just shouldn't be allowed to happen for the money we're all paying. If you're stuffing your classes so that people can't properly do yoga, what's the point?
The next week I got an e-mail about no longer allowing late students, so I'm pretty sure it happened again. Kind of ironic that they're allowing this after being so strict about wanting proof of vaccination during the pandemic. I've had some okay experiences here in the past, which is why this review isn't one-star.

The true mark of a good yoga studio is how well they handle unfortunate events — Nandi is truly one of the best that I’ve been to, both in the best of times and the weirdest of times. I really enjoy Jeremy’s Jivamukti classes, and today there was tree trimming going on outside. Jeremy coached the class through the loud noises, and everything was groovy. And then, a shower of tree bits came through the skylight on top of me — totally unexpected for everyone!
Jeremy and the front desk made sure I was okay, started making calls to the city and landlord, and comped me appropriately. I am very grateful for their kindness, especially for something so totally unpredictable (and not their fault at all). The class was still enjoyable, even after all that! They’ve earned my loyalty for sure, and I highly recommend Nandi for those looking for a yoga studio.

I've attended their prenatal yoga class throughout my entire pregnancy. Each session not only teaches you how to adapt your practice to your changing body but also imparts valuable coping mechanisms for labor. The instructors bring their unique flow to each class, making every class interesting. It's also a wonderful opportunity to connect with other pregnant women and share experiences. I highly recommend this prenatal class for anyone looking to support their body and feel good throughout pregnancy.

Love this studio! I found Nandi when we first moved to San Mateo. I was pregnant, and already had an established yoga practice, so was so glad to find a studio that had experienced teachers who could help me modify the standard classes!! But they have a variety of styles of yoga (including prenatal), if you are newer. The app lists the levels the classes are for, and the teachers definitely give options for you in YOUR practice, for what you need, without any competition. When we moved to San Carlos, I checked out some other studios, but I couldn’t find another place I like better. I love Nandi!

I've been going to Nandi Yoga for the past 15+ years, and am so grateful to be part of this community! I am a "regular" at Wendy's class on Friday mornings - I love the hands-on assist, the different focus each week, the ever-changing music playlists (which at times makes me giggle), and Wendy's wisdom and knowledge of yoga practice. I also highly recommend other teachers including Giselle (love her playful sequence and her humor!) and Birgit (amazing Iyengar teacher!) For anyone who thinks yoga is boring, give Nandi a try - you won't regret it!

Truly disgusted they require vaccines to practice yoga. I have heart disease in my family and can not take the vaccine because Myocarditis is a dangerous, rare and deadly side effect. They're requirements are fear based and alienate people, creating fear amongst the community. I'll gladly take my business elsewhere.

I’ve been going to Nandi yoga for a few years. I like the quality teaching and environment at Nandi and always look forward to practicing yoga there for my body and mind.
My most recent experience is worth sharing. A year ago after I recovered from a disabling herniated disc injury, which kept me in bed for 3 months, I returned to yoga at Nandi. After discussing my situation with Wendy, Nandi’s owner and a yoga teacher herself, she recommended Birgit Reimer's Iyengar yoga classes, since she has an in depth knowledge of spine and back health. I have been taking Brigit’s classes, among other classes, ever since and been grateful to have had access to such knowledgeable teacher helping me with my physical and mental health. Her in depth knowledge of human anatomy and her seniority as an Iyengar yoga teacher has been invaluable to me.

I came for a trial class on 7/10. The front desk lady was terrifying. I asked her about unlimited 2 week trial. She said she wasnt offering it anymore. I was SIMPLY curious about the reason why it isn’t no longer offered. She acted like I was hosting her entire falling hostage. She explain and I didn’t fully understand. She was obviously annoyed. She said “we can argue like this forever”. I was like I didn’t even argue. I asked her in the most normal way. I was glad she was not my professor in college. She got no patience.

I'm so glad that I found Nandi yoga! I have been visiting the studio several times a week for over a year now and my practice has improved so much under the instruction of so many talented teachers. There are many yoga studios, but I find that the teachers here are much more knowledgable and thoughtful about how they sequence/teach poses. Because the teachers are so knowledgable about anatomy and alignment, I feel confident trying more advanced poses.
I especially like Deeb and Clive's classes where they introduce a variety of creative poses, including arm balances and inversions. Also, I really like that they offer 90 and 75 minute classes at a variety of times, rather than 60.
Regarding the space, classes are held in two spaces that both have lots of natural light and hardwood floors. The bathroom/changing area is spacious and has nice touches like Method soap and little cups for drinking water.
Regarding merchandise, they sell apparel and yoga mats so if you forget yours, there's the option to buy (although pricey). I did buy a light foldable travel mat from them that I really like.
Some other things I like:
- small touches like lavender lotion
- cork blocks not foam
- focus on adjustments so that alignment is good
- easy parking (neighborhood nearby that has 2 hour parking)
- walking distance from Caltrain
- friendly front desk experience
- green program that incentivizes walking
Overall, I tried lots of different yoga options around San Mateo before settling on Nandi, and am really happy with them!

I've been practicing at Nandi for 6+ years because they were the only studio in the area with prenatal classes (which are awesome). I stayed for the beautiful space, fantastic instructors and great schedule. The studio has a wide range of classes so you can easily find the best one (s) to fit your needs. Wendy and Jeremy are two of my favorites but you cannot go wrong at Nandi - in my experience, they have some of the most skilled instructors around!

I started at Nandi when Wendy opened the studio 7 years ago, and I've been grateful for the space she has created and the team of teachers (and visiting teachers) she has assembled. Classes are small without overcrowding and allow for teachers to know students individually. I've visited 40 different studios in the course of my practice and I rate Nandi among the best for the inviting aesthetic (great studio space, comfortable changing rooms with showers, etc), skilled and personalized instruction, and schedule of some of the area's best teachers.

I have never done yoga in my life. Bound by a tight schedule, I was looking for a class that met around lunch time and was workout enough that I got some benefit from it, but not so exhausting that I struggled to get through the rest of my day. Nandi Yoga has it just right. The classes are easy to assimilate into, the instructors are knowledgable, patient and kind, and the facility is beautiful. It is by far the best yoga studio in down town san mateo (trust me, I tried a few of them).
