Great staff and a very clean gym. Only request is that they turn down the gym music, as it regularly pings my Apple Watch as unsafe decibels and I can hear the gymsβ bad music through my noise cancelling headphones.

Hot Coal Suana can fit 4 people max. People usually tap out around the 5-10 min mark so never crowded.

Good amount of treadmills, squat racks, and weights. Impossible to workout after work due to crowds, but not bad in the mornings. Please fix the nice treadmill, I love using that one

Place is clean, most of the patrons are respectful and clean up after themselves.
Really nice facility.
The one dude who raps out loud in the dumbbell room is annoying. π€£

The gym is a decent size but stays pretty busy throughout the week unlike most other military gyms that seem to taper off as the week progresses. If you're patient then it can be fine, but if you're going for tempo, maybe not.

This is an awesome gym that's classic and well taken care of. The locker room is spacious too and the lockers have a lot of room, especially if you're a serious lifter who has your lifting accessories (belt, gloves, shoes, etc.) and hygiene bag.
The floor has all the equipment you need and the sugar on top is the wonderfully hot sauna. I'll definitely be back again soon.

I always describe it as "The Best Gym in San Diego." It has just the right amount of free weights and cardio machines to get a full body workout. Depending on your fitness goals, you can definitely achieve it this base gym. It's a big facility even during peak hrs it never seems too busy. A big plus is how professional and helpful the staff are. Their always available for questions or assistance in your workout.

Good facilities for DoD personnel. Has daily use lockers and rented lockers available. Doesn't get crazy busy, just moderately busy.

When I have a choice of MWR gym in the SD area, I choose this one. Plenty of equipment and not usually packed. There is a pool and fitness building and a separate gym at the bottom of the big building straight back from the gate.

There are over 3000 active duty staff members at this command and hundreds of those live in the barracks. This gym is only allowing 35 people in at a time. There were 6 people in line to get in at 1630, and it closes at 1800 so I just left. The hours/people limit need to change. We already have to wear masks when doing anything but cardio and all of us have our vaccine. Itβs time to move on. Active duty shouldnβt have to pay for gyms out in town when there is one on the base, especially if WE LIVE ON THE BASE. Also, how can this gym not be open on the weekends?!? For most of us, thatβs our only days off from work. I know the place is run by civilians, but why donβt you accommodate to the active duty population who live and work at this command.
