I like this gym. Nice location, good equipment, and friendly staff. However, I am giving this average rating because while I was a member, I acquired a Staph infection. It could come from anywhere but I suspect I got it from here. The cleaning facilities provided are inadequate in my opinion. The overused rags with spray need to be replaced with wipes. Period. The mats need replacing. God knows when those were cleaned. For the fee we pay, cleanliness should not be a question.

While this gym is NOT cheap, you really get what you pay for! The equipment is always in good condition, repaired when needed, and they turn on AC when hot. Staff are friendly and responsive. I go about 3 times a week and live in neighborhood, which makes the cost per visit not much. Well worth it!!

Awesome local gym. I live nearby and being able to walk here is so convenient. Always very clean. Main gym is on the smaller side, but I like the layout and it has all the important equipment you need. They also have a separate upstairs turf area in another building a few steps from the main entrance which adds more space. Overall highly recommend if you live in North Park!

I was in town for just a few days and needed a solid gym that offers day passes. It wasnβt easy to find but was really happy to have found this gym (20$ for a day pass). Gym is on the smaller side but has everything you need. They have an awesome selection of plate loaded Hammer Strength machines and plenty of squat racks. Staff was incredibly friendly ! I felt very welcome there. Would sign up if I lived in San Diego.

Recently joined and very happy with my experience thus far. Staff has been kind and helpful. The owner even got involved for a short welcome tour and form tips (asking first if I was open to feedback). The gym is split between this location and another space above the ice cream shop a few doors down.
Since the split itβs really difficult to do my workouts based on the weights being in one place and the open space for stretching or other types of non-weight workouts being separate.
They also stopped offering towels so you have to bring your own if you need one.
Prices also went up when they expanded so overall really unfortunate based on my preference/style of workout needs.

Best gym I've ever been to! Ever since starting here a couple years ago I have seen constant improvements to the equipment, design layout, even adding an extra room, etc. With small things like adding an automatic water dispenser, the owner Lou definitely wants us to have a great experience. It's also nice to know that your membership fee is actually going into making the gym a better place compared to other gyms where nothing ever changes.
I always look forward to going in because Hector at the front desk is the coolest dude around. He might come over and use your 1 rep max as his warmup but at the same time he'll always come over to help you out with anything or give you a spot.
Unfortunately, I am moving away from San Diego and I think I will miss this place the most. Hands down the best gym I'll probably ever go to.

The gym has everything you need to do a great work out. My only complaint is the music is very loud though. When I go to the gym I want to listen to my own music, preferably without putting the volume on maximum and taking risk of injury my ears.

Great gym, 3 squat racks w/ deadlift platforms in the front, two more squat racks with benches in the back. Additional bench press in the front. Has the full assortment of machines, treadmills, stairmaster, bikes, etc. Also has plenty of free weights, kettlebells, as well as a pull-up area with TRX bands and Olympic rings. Staff is very friendly.
Would give five stars, but due to relatively small gym in a populated area, the squat rack / deadlift platforms are often taken. Fortunately most folks are friendly and will let you work in, though this is less than optimal during a pandemic. Was a better value at the prior price of $30/month, but is now $40. Nevertheless, this is in line with inflation as all prices in the area have been increasing.
Highly recommend if you live in North Park and can get there without driving. Parking is extremely limited and the parking lot is now taken by Target, so probably better to find a different gym if you have to drive.

This place is great! Super friendly and personable staff, appropriate distribution of equipment (though I am geared towards weights- there look to be a lot of cardio machines but I never really use those!) so that youβre rarely waiting for anything which is awesome. Clientele are super COVID-conscious, mask wearing is universal and equipment is regularly cleaned.

Great neighborhood gym. Staff is super friendly. Equipment is clean and wll taken care of. Even though it's a smaller gym, it doesn't feel like you are squeezed in. There are a lot of squat racks and the equipment bigger gyms would have, you can make due with what NPF has to offer.
During COVID most everyone in the gym at the time I go is good about cleaning their equipment before and after use. Reservations are a must. Love working out here!

Went in to sign up at NPF today, Tori (not sure of spelling) provided EXCELLENT customer service. The gym is not huge but plenty big enough for a great workout. I mainly joined because they have a Concept 2 rower, but they also have Hammer Strength machines, which I am very happy about. They have really nice Life Fitness equipment as well. This place gets it.. they have all the right equipment (I know about these things). Great gym at a great price.

Great place to workout. It's clean, has friendly members / staff, and it's convenient. Plenty of free parking and their is rarely a wait for any machines. I've been a member since it opened. Do yourself a favor rather than buying a machine in your lonely garage come work out with your neighbors at North Park Fitness.

As an athlete training for Tokyo 2020 Olympics, I require the best equipment in the gym for my lifts. North Park Fitness has everything you need from squat racks, bench, area where you can do Olympic lifts, free weights and most importantly a friendly staff. Every time I leave the gym I feel stronger and complete. Definitely worth checking out for a drop in or a membership!

Clean, simple, and cheap. I love that there aren't screens attached to the cardio machines and that you can look out the windows while working out. Sometimes the music is too loud--seems like everyone is plugged into their own music anyway so it would be nice if they took the tunes down a notch.

It's a small gym, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in a welcoming atmosphere where you don't feel judged (at least for me; I don't feel intimidated by any scary gym rats or meat heads here, unlike some other gyms). The staff are all friendly, the equipment is clean and in good shape. The membership costs are reasonable. They even offer personal training and weekly yoga classes if that's what you're into. The only issue is that it gets a little crowded during peak hours (i.e. right after work), but you'll get that anywhere you go.
