Jen is a very talented yoga teacher. The intimate classes make it possible to receive personalized attention in a way that will allow you to get at the root source of your pain. She has a wealth of knowledge about anatomy and body mechanics. I felt so safe and taken care of in class. She meets her students where they’re at and designs class to meet their needs. Highly recommend.

First-Time Yoga Experience
Tried Myofascial Release Yoga/Sound Healing for my first yoga session and was already booking my next one — Gentle Flow — before I left. Both were incredibly rewarding for my body and mind.
Jennifer is amazing — patient, caring, and truly understands the body’s pain points. I even took several practices home, and the studio has all the equipment for sale, which is a huge plus. Highly recommend!

We had a lovely experience with Jennifer at Nurse of Yoga. My husband and I were up in Mendocino for a weekend retreat and we were both stiff and sore from work and the drive up. Jennifer treated us with such love and care! She took extra time to make sure that all pain points were targeted effectively. She made several safe modifications for pregnancy-- which made a huge impact on my third trimester aches and pains! We left with several strategies for getting ahead of stiffness and pain the future. We would absolutely recommend this to anyone in the area, and we would love to come back!

Suffering from a very painful bout of sciatica, I sought professional help.
I went to a body work person, and two sessions of acupuncture. I felt better after these treatments, but the good effects weren’t long lasting.
A friend recommended Nurse of Yoga in Mendocino, so I went there. After the first session I felt better, and this time the improvement stayed with me. Two more sessions and I’m pretty much back in the saddle.
Jennifer Shepherd, the Nurse of Yoga, has a combination of healing skills that worked well for me. She is very knowledgeable and compassionate, and has specialized tools and techniques for relieving sciatica.
What really stood out was the care Jennifer put into helping me recover. She has kindly followed up asking me how I’m doing the day after each session, and making suggestions for things I could do at home.
Bottom line is that I recommend Nurse of Yoga very highly indeed.

I passed by the studio and noticed the sign offering classes on lower back and hip pain. So glad I decided to sign up! The studio is light and airy, the instructor is very knowledgeable and warm. She had numerous recommendations for things I could try to relieve the pain. The session was excellent and I felt much better after. So much, in fact, that I ended up signing up for 3 more while I was in Mendocino. I hope to continue these on line when I get home. I really recommend Jennifer!

I went to Jennifer to get help with terrible sciatica I have had for years. I have tried acupuncture, chiropractors, massage, and physical therapy in the past. Jennifer had me pain free in 2 private sessions. I couldn't believe it. Highly recommend Nurse of Yoga!!

my husband and I were driving along the West Coast Highway passing by Mendocino California for a short stop but came across this very interesting place and felt led to visit as in "Window shopping" I discovered this serine welcoming yoga studio, then met Jennifer and I asked if she would be able to help me with my neck/shoulder soreness due to riding in the car for a long time. She invited me in, and I experienced lot of healing starting in relieving anxiety and was able to relax my sore muscles. Gently releasing tension in body, mind, I felt a lot better after she showed me how to use the right tools to work for myofascial release. I told her I had found heaven feeling so much better for just one session. Thank you, Jennifer, for providing a safe place for restoration both mentally and physically, I keep coming back.

I highly recommend Nurse of Yoga (Nurses Unite!!)! 🩺💪🏻🤍
I came into town for a camping trip & to enjoy some self care on my days off from nursing and looked up a local yoga studio and on a whim signed up for 'Lower Back Pain/Hip Pain' at Nurse of Yoga! Upon arrival it's an awe-inspiring studio with gorgeous quartz sound bowls in the window and an all-around bright and therapeutic vibe. Jennifer is a kind and patient instructor and obviously a knowledgable and educational practitioner of full body mechanics because she's also an RN! Thank you Jen for creating such a positive and powerful space to to guide others to coming back to our bodies and healing it through movement and creating more space for inner peace. What a mind-blowing experience on vacation!, I will definitely be back each time I'm in Mendocino to try all the class offerings!!!

Nurse Jenn is awesome, truly.
Nurse of Yoga is not a Vinyasa Studio, not a Bikram Studio, and not a Iyengar or Ashtanga Studio. Nurse of Yoga is a house of healing.
A few years of bad habits had my back and hips in such pain that it kept me from my yoga practice, pure misery. I said enough is enough and bam, I check it out, .... and a few weeks later I've got mobility, strength and no pain.
I will be forever grateful for Nurse Jenn guiding me and my body back to my Hatha Yoga Practice, back to my Athletic Practice, and back on the dance floor.
Now I get to do all that and keep it going at Nurse of Yoga! Thanks Nurse Jenn.
Classes taken: Myofascial: Hip and back, Myofascial: Spine and Neck, and Strengthening: Pelvic Floor. All with sound healing too!

Jen, owner of Nurse of Yoga, is an amazing teacher. She really knows the body and how it works, explains it clearly and has knowledge of how to release the fascia in a way that is gentle but effective. I have taken a few classes and have had great results and released a lot of tension each time.
The space is really nice and she also has many tools that are specifically for body work, which is incredible.
Jen is also just a great human being, so intelligent and perceptive, generous with her time and attention.
She definitely is a gem!

I recently had a session with Jennifer, the Sound Bath Nurse at Yoga Wellness Center, and it was an incredibly healing experience. Her approach was tailored specifically to my needs—she took the time to listen, assess, and provide a deeply personalized myofascial release that left me feeling light and balanced.
Jennifer is patient, immensely helpful, and impressively informative. She explained each step with clarity and care, which made me feel completely supported throughout the process. And the sound bath? Absolutely delightful. The vibrations and tones were soothing, immersive, and emotionally grounding. It wasn’t just relaxation—it felt like restoration at a cellular level.
If you're looking for someone who combines skill, empathy, and deep knowledge of healing practices, Jennifer is a rare gem.

Jen at Nurse of Yoga is on point! With over a decade as an RN, she brings a clinical understanding of the body that most instructors just don’t have.
I came in dealing with tightness from training and stress from managing multiple businesses. Her Gentle Flow, Myofascial Release, and Neck + Shoulder Restoration classes helped me reset physically and mentally. Everything she offers is designed for real recovery, not just movement.
The studio itself is in the heart of Mendo, surrounded by trees and ocean air, the setting alone feels like therapy. I highly recommend dropping in if you are in town.

Jennifer recently opened her Nurse of Yoga studio in Mendocino, next to the Mendocino Volunteer Fire Department. Her shop is located downstairs, and has an inviting yet relaxed atmosphere when you step in. Jennifer has a unique approach to her yoga instruction, focused more on myofascial release and tension release than finding a perfect Asana. Both locals and visitors to the Mendocino area looking for a gentle but effective healing session can pop into one of Jennifer's daily classes (with room for up to a dozen or so people in class) to release knots, stretch, and work on imbalances in the body. She can accommodate individuals, couples, or friends and has a friendly, down to earth vibe that makes her instruction particularly beneficial for non-yogis, but all levels of experience will benefit from practicing with her. Personally, I was struggling with a tight psoas muscle and Jennifer helped me to relieve my pain in just two sessions following her guidance both in session and at home. Her practice is unique among local yoga studio offerings and definitely worth checking out while you're in the area!

I had an amazing session with Jennifer! She helped release tension in my leg after an injury using myofascial release techniques. She’s incredibly knowledgeable and has a deep understanding of the body’s anatomy, knowing exactly how to approach pain through a variety of exercises and tools. If you’re dealing with pain or have a specific concern you want to work through, I highly recommend booking a session with Jen

I had a great experience doing yoga with Jen. She took the time to meet me where I was in my practice and focused on my specific problem areas. I really appreciated how she incorporated facial work into our session - it made a big difference in how I felt afterward. I’m excited to see her again and can’t wait to continue learning from her! Looking forward to more online opportunities.
