Melissa founded Optimum Condition to optimize the physical health of the client through science and movement. After beginning as a mobile personal trainer serving the greater San Diego area, the company eventually transitioned into a medical fitness studio, where it remained for 15 years. Things came full circle as the company transitioned back to personal training, but this time offering an in-home concierge service for men and women in San Diego's East County.
Melissa bridges the gap between physical therapy and fitness. Building strength, mobility, and stability form the backbone for the training in creating healthy bodies in 3 planes of motion. Investing in your health is the best investment you could ever make.

Melissa (Optimum Cindition) is a great trainer. I wanted to get back in track with my workouts to regain strength and stability and overall better health. I searched for a trainer that would be able to work with my physical issues, such as back and recovery from two hip replacements in the past 10 months.
IMelissa is a great fit. She is an experienced trainer and from the start was interested in what I wanted to achieve with my workouts. We meet at a gym and she tailored a workout for me. She is personable, professional and a great motivator without being overly pushy. Working with her for the past few weeks has definitely boosted my confidence, my strength and my stability. I really enjoy our sessions. She's great to work with!
She offers several programs that would fit many schedules and even offers online and in-home sessions.

Despite the fact that Melissaβs gym, Optimum Condition, was literally right under my nose in El Cajon, I never knew it existed all these years I lived here. I had no expectations other than deciding to find an experienced and available trainer who didnβt live light years away. Melissa has been a godsend and blessing beyond belief. She has a fully equipped, state-of-the-art gym and works to provide one-on-one personal attention and a program tailored to fit your every need, whether itβs personal coaching, health coaching or rehab exercises. She has a degree in Biological Sciences, is a former EMT, a Corrective Exercise Specialist, and has studied numerous other healing modalities; Melissa is always learning. I look forward to spending time each week in her gym. In the relatively short time Iβve been working with her, I can visibly see the changes in my flexibility and strength. Wow! I've been a client of Melissa's for six months. I had surgery on May 13th and October 21st and wanted to get back into fitness safely and correctly after my restrictions lifted. Her blended medical and fitness background was a major draw for me.
With Covid-19, the hybrid curriculum has been amazing!
Melissa listened well to my limitations, concerns, and goals. She then tailored a program specifically for me and the meager exercise equipment I already had available at my house. And she constantly checks in on me to ensure none of the exercises are causing me pain or discomfort while I continue to heal. And the absolute best part? It fit into my budget. And she has tiers to help with various budget restrictions!
I love the accountability the hybrid program created by completing workouts on time and logging them on the app. Melissa monitors my progress, offers encouragement, and checks in often.
The occasional face-to-face interactions (done incredibly safely during these current times) are also an amazing piece of the puzzle.
I feel fully cared for, monitored, and have no doubt we'll see results. I already feel so much stronger and capable than I have in a long time. And I have confidence back that had faded.
I've no regrets whatsoever making the decision to invest in my health this year. And I'm oh so pleased with Optimum Condition and Melissa! Thank you!!!

Working with Melissa is a great workout particularly since I am 77 years old. She tailored our routine in accordance with my ability. When I stared I could not even get off the floor. Eventually I became stronger and was able to accomplish that.
She is very knowledgeable about exercise science and has many certifications. She is very understanding and works with people that are disabled. I would definitely recommend any of her classes.

Optimum Condition may be a small gym with limited equipment. But I guarantee you will get a vigorous workout, leaving you with a good tired feeling and feeling invigorated. Melissa is so knowledgable about exercise and the body and what works. I enrolled in a 12-week personal training session and my biceps grew 1 1/2 inches and I lifted no more than 20-pound Dumbbells. Learning to perform exercises the right way has made a big difference in how I feel.

I went to optimum condition to recover from RSD. was told that i would never be able to walk with out the assistance of a cain.Through hard work and dedication i can say that i am in great health. I followed the plan set by Melissa and am now in a better place physically. I don't walk with a cain and my Neurologist say that he had never seen this kind of recovery before. I started training with Melissa in June 2010 based on a strong recommendation from a friend. I was impressed with Melissa's education, training, experience, and credentials as well as her understanding of body mechanics. She tailors workouts based on your needs. I had osteoporosis and sciatic pain and both conditions have improved sigificantly since I started working out with Melissa. Not only that but I have gone from a size 10 to a size 6 and lost the 25 pounds I gained in menopause in less than six months! I've read extensively on the effects of aging and what to do to minimize those effects. What I read consistently was to exercise at least one hour a day, six days a week. Based on that, I workout three days a week with Melissa and do other exercises the other three days. I have found being accountable to another person as well as myself has kept me motivated. Melissa regularly changes my routine and has added exercises that previously I would have shied away from, felt intimated by or would have avoided, since I'm not the athletic or exercise type. I now do those exercises with confidence! If you have the good fortune to hire a personal trainer, you will be impressed with the improvements you will gain having Melissa as your trainer. She has a positive attitude, our sessions are fun, and the time goes by quickly.
