“This gym provides an excellent environment for working out. It’s clean, well-maintained, and usually very quiet, allowing for a focused and enjoyable experience. I often have the space to myself, and the $150 membership fee is well worth it for the convenience and accessibility of the equipment. The trainers are knowledgeable, professional, and always willing to help, which makes the experience even better.”

My husband and I do strongman training, so while in the San Mateo area, we were looking for a gym that could support our workouts. I thought finding one would be easy—but it wasn’t. There wasn’t much information on Google, and many gyms didn’t list contact details. When I reached out through social media or by phone, no one responded.

We didn’t want to go to a commercial gym because we prefer to train without crowds and not have to wait for equipment. We also needed quality gear since our workouts are intense and take around three hours to complete.

When I called Optimum Strength, it went to voicemail—but the message included helpful info and said I could text. I sent a message and got an immediate response. I asked if they offered drop-ins, explained I was from out of town, and they said yes. They emailed the waivers right away.

When we arrived, the owner gave us a quick tour, and we got straight to training. The gym was clean, well-equipped, had great temperature control, and we had the whole place to ourselves for three hours.

Highly recommend this place—and we’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town!

I’ve been training at Optimum Strength and Conditioning for the past two months and it has made a big difference in my performance on the basketball court. As someone who plays basketball and is involved in other sports, I was looking for a program that would help me get stronger, more explosive, and ready for games. That’s exactly what I’ve found here.

My trainer Cameron Lew is extremely knowledgeable and takes the time to tailor each workout to my needs. He focuses on building strength, improving agility, and increasing endurance. Since I’ve started, I’ve noticed clear improvements in my strength and speed, and learned ways to take care of my body so that I can remain healthy to play sports.

Great new gym in a convenient location! I attended a group strength training class led by 2 personal trainers. They did a great job explaining how to do the exercises, offered modifications and corrected our form as needed. Thanks for a wonderful workout!

As a former collegiate athlete, I found it tough maintaining my strength and conditioning after graduating. I would still go to the gym but didn’t have a consistent plan to get back in shape. I was furloughed from my job around the time of the pandemic which gave me the perfect opportunity to focus on my strength and conditioning. During this time I connected with Cameron and he’s been instrumental in helping me reach my fitness goals. I’ve been able to continue to play basketball at a high level and even got drafted to the Berkley Royals in the Women’s Premier Basketball Association (WPBA). I have also been lucky enough to continue my training with Cameron at his new gym Optimum Strength & Conditioning in San Mateo. The gym is quite clean, and has several weights and equipment. As someone who likes to be able to get through their workouts smoothly and in a timely manner, I’ve been able to get through it without having to wait for dumbbells, bars, squat racks, and even bumper plates. It’s been great getting to come in and workout in a positive environment, and I’m excited to continue on my weight lifting journey here at Optimum Strength & Conditioning!

This gym has everything I could ask for in a fitness center and more! The location is incredibly convenient, making it easy to fit a workout into my day, no matter how busy my schedule gets. The facility itself is brand new, and they’ve truly thought of everything—from the latest machines to a great selection of weights and equipment. Whether you’re into strength training, cardio, or something else entirely, they have everything you could need.

The trainers here are exceptional. They take the time to understand my goals and abilities, meeting me exactly where I am. Their encouragement and insightful feedback have helped me make steady progress without feeling overwhelmed. It’s clear that they really care about helping each person succeed in their fitness journey.

One of the best parts is the range of additional services available on-site, like chiropractic and physical therapy. It’s a huge bonus to be able to take care of recovery and preventative care all in one place. I’m genuinely grateful to have found a gym that prioritizes the well-being and progress of its members this much. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a supportive and well-equipped environment!

The gym itself is always clean, well-maintained, and has a wide variety of equipment to meet any training preference. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced athlete, they have so many personal trainers that will tailor their approach to your specific goals and fitness level.

I’ve been training with Cameron Lew for the past 2 years, and I can't recommend him highly enough. From the start, he took the time to understand my fitness goals, my lifestyle, and any limitations I had, creating a personalized workout plan that was both challenging and achievable.

Another standout feature of Optimum is their chiropractic and physical therapy services. The integration of chiropractic and physical therapy with the gym's training services really makes this a one-stop shop! Dr. Justin Lew made me feel comfortable and at ease at my first chiropractic session. He took the time to thoroughly assess my situation, asking detailed questions about my lifestyle and medical history. I never felt rushed, and he explained everything clearly, so I knew exactly what to expect.

If you're looking for a gym that not only helps you get stronger but also cares about your overall well-being, I can’t recommend Optimum enough. Great experience and training. Justin and Cam were very helpful and supportive. Justin helped with chiropractic issues when I hurt my back from basketball and Cam supported me with great attention and detail with specialized workout plans and form instruction.
