My experience with them was so terrible I don't know where to start.
- They don't believe in warmup so I actually ended getting hurt on the rower because the coaches don't bother to check on anyone. And I am not a beginner, so if you are, definitely steer away.
- The strength classes are always waitlisted by 7 plus people so unless you are booking two weeks in advance, you can't book.
- They changed their treadmills very recently to surface touch buttons except that the buttons are neither touch or buttons, so if you are running over 7 miles, good luck turning the treadmill off without falling.
Because of all of these issues I asked them to cancel my membership which they ask for 30 days(which I am okay with), except that apparently that is 30 days until the next billing cycle which means I would have to wait for 55 days or so.
When I told them that this is not what I signed up for, they canceled immediately. I signed up June 30th and one of the days they were closed for the treadmill setup. So I paid $189 for 5 days of workouts.
That is a hefty price for mediocre level workout but it is what it is. AVOID at all costs.

The organization at this site is not professional. Not only do I not get responses to my voicemails, but I am now having to follow up with a cancellation process that I signed in person for that they have not yet processed in their systems two weeks afterwards.

Wow! The team here went above and beyond when I came for my trial. Such a friendly environment and not intimidating like many other studios, so huge shout out to Noah and Emma behind the desk. Would definitely recommend this place to all levels! Kaitlins class was AMAZING. I didn’t look at the clock once. You can very much go at your own pace whilst challenging yourself. The music was fab as well so it actually felt like a FUN class which is often hard to come by. 5 STARS ALL ROUND!

I had a great time here, everyone’s super friendly. I really enjoyed the classes but the agreements need complete work. No wonder why they keep closing locations, like the West Hollywood one. One of the issues I faced was not having enough time to complete work outs or have enough time on the treadmill. As much as it’s nice someone pushing you to do better, I’m overweight and have to go at a certain pace. I was gaining lbs there for two months compared to my little daily home workouts.
I don’t recommend joining though, they keep a lot of important information out about memberships. Like you have to keep the membership for two months at least and cancel 30 days before hand. So if you cancel 10 days before you’re charged, they don’t prorate, they charge you the full amount of the next month.
They change your membership without having you sign an agreement when you’re on the fence about it.
And have the complete inability to accommodate any changes or work with you on a solution even if you told them you were looking to cancel over a month in advance and have the document stating the date of cancellation.
Plus if you miss a class or cancel within 8 hours of it they charge you $15.
Also, they don’t appear to clean their gym. The last few times I went there was this huge dust pile in the corner of the floor that kept growing. No wonder why phones aren’t permitted in the gym area.

Not an orange theory die hard, but enjoy their classes from time to time because I like their treadmills and tech. I came here to try to Tread50 class today. I am a Los Angeles resident for 10 years and used to go to the OT in Brentwood near my office. I had purchased a class pack in Orland Park, IL end of 2023 while I was home for the holidays and was working out at OT over there. The cost of a 10 class pack in Illinois is $245 and the cost at the Melrose location is $250. Today when I came in they told me there is a $10 surcharge per class. Meaning that to use up my 12 classes that would normally cost $5 more to purchase at Melrose than Orland I will have to pay an extra $120. That makes ZERO sense. Even after the $10 they had the audacity to tell me a towel will be $5. On what planet are these people living? Any studio will give you unlimited towels, even eucalyptus cold towels. Also, their parking situation is super sketch and the treadmills and equipment at this location look dated. Not like the newer, nicer treadmills with the huge displays they have at the Illinois location. I called the Illinois location and told them what happened and they said I should not be getting up charged THAT much- maybe $1-3, but not $10 PER CLASS. Yet, the girl at the Melrose location was rude, useless and adamant she was correct on the $10 even when it makes no sense in this instance.
Update: they also charge you $10 if you forget your tracker even tho it’s dirty, stinky and malfunctioning.

Charge you to use the arm band they they never wash. Studio is small, parking is trash. For a “premier” gym they don’t act like it. They claim you can cancel membership within a certain time period then change it at the last minute. Would not recommend orange theory to anyone.

For the life of me I cannot understand how this could warrant a $10 extra fee for being a premier studio. Shoebox sized, cramped, and the session was mediocre at best. I'm baffled, but I gave an extra star because the front desk guy was super nice.

I visited this studio from out of state and was throughly disappointed with the front desk girl and coaches. I attend OTF 7 days a week in my home state and know what to expect. The front desk young lady was disrespectful, rude and not welcoming. The studio manager was also disrespectful and dismissive. The two classes I attended both coaches kept changing the music and so it was very choppy and extremely hard to get into the work out. The equipment is VERY used and in poor working condition. I was charged an extra $10 each class for visiting a new studio (even tho I pay for unlimited classes) because this studio is supposedly a tier 3 (whatever that means) . Anywho, I would NOT recommend this his studio for an out of towner, a regular or a first timer.

I'm not sure about the rest of you, but my covid body is getting the best of me! I went back to my gym, but pounding weights and running the treadmill just weren't cutting it for me. What I really wanted was a class, maybe some type of circuit training, that would get my heart rate up, that was convenient to get to, and wouldn't make me feel like I was breaking the bank.
And then I remembered there was an OrangeTheory location not five minutes walking distance from my house. I didn't know much about it so dragged myself in.
It's exactly what I was looking for. My experience so far is amazing. In the classes I've taken (and I understand there's some variations I've yet to explorer), there are two groups of people. My group began on rowers, transitioned to floor work worth free weights and TRX bands, then ended with treadmill and a bit of stretching.
A little less than an hour later, I was plum tuckered out, but ready to sign up for another class.
The instructors and staff have been equal parts amazing, and the app is easy to navigate. You can even schedule classes right from the app.
If you've been looking to change up your workout, or if you've been just putting on the pounds since covid, check them out. You won't be disappointed.

I had been looking into Orangetheory for a couple of years before finally jumping in at the Melrose studio this year and, to be frank, I hate myself for not joining sooner.
In the last three months, I have noticed significant changes in my body, my endurance, my health - none of which I would’ve been able to achieve on my own in such a short timespan. I am not a gym person (I have no idea what I’m doing there so I workout at home). I have also never been a runner and could barely finish long distance walks without serious shin splints, so I was very leery about the treadmill portion of the classes. Three months later? I’m running. Actually running. And I’m getting faster and going farther every week - and I’m loving it!
If you had told me when I joined back in January that I would voluntarily participate in the DriTri (2000 meter row, 300 bodyweight reps, 3.1 mile run) after two months of classes, I would’ve laughed in your face. I would’ve laughed in your face the morning of the DriTri, too, but I did it! And I owe it to the support of the coaches that I’ve worked with from day one: Alli, Chelsey, Jasmine, Eric, Benzo, Kelly…all of them have pushed me further than I thought possible, cheered me on with each of my successes, and took the time to answer my questions about recovery and form and how to excel in every class. This isn’t a personal training gym but the experience is still extremely personal.
Also, the entire staff is amazing and welcoming and happy to help from the second you walk in the door on your first day.
Long story short: Orangetheory is absolutely worth the monthly cost and the Melrose location is a fantastic place to get started because of the entire team there. If you put in the work, you will get the results - and you’ll be so proud of yourself after every class, too.
(Just be aware that the parking lot can be frustrating because of how crowded it gets due to the businesses that share it. This isn’t OTF’s fault at all, but be mindful of it if you’re working a class into a busy schedule. Arrive ten minutes early to secure a spot and allow for a few extra minutes when you’re trying to leave.)

I’ve been going to OTF for years (minus the pandemic months). I love how strong I feel after a couple of months rowing, running, and weights. When I go to my gym at home I feel confident in using the moves I learned at OTF. I will say that for me classes can get repetitive so I’ve added additional outside classes like yoga and barre to shake up routine.
Not a full 5 since sometimes it’s tough to get a hold of someone on the phone and parking at certain locations can be frustrating. All in all find an instructor you love and take the 60 mins.

I love this OTF, the staff are so friendly and on it with the COVID safety measures and they have very comfy face masks available that are more suitable for working out.

This is a review for the business/customer service - not the actual workout or instructors*
I paid $267 ($89/month) for 4 classes a month and only used it a couple times. First month I had a health issue and they were nice enough to carry 2 of the 4 over to the next month if I kept my membership for another $89. Also when I signed up for the basic membership in the first place they added two more classes "that don't expire" to my account, which was a nice incentive, but in theory you shouldn't have to still be a member to use them. I cancelled after the third month bc I don't use it enough clearly but thought I would at least have those two last classes to use at my leisure (especially since I paid for 12 classes and only went maybe 3 times) but I went in today and was told I couldn't use them after my membership expires, I also couldn't enter that class bc I was 10 minutes late and the cut off is 7 minutes - but their parking lot is no longer available next door so it was a fiasco trying to find parking. A 3 minute difference? For someone who has barely been able to use her membership but has paid a good amount of money to this company and wasn't informed about the parking lot? I know a lot of workout classes have this policy but they are usually a quieter yoga class or a situation where someone coming in later would be disruptive - but this class has blasting music and no one would even notice if someone came in and hopped onto a treadmill. For classes this expensive, they should have better customer service... huge waste of money for me. I will not be back and would not recommend to friends.

I like the culture. I like that coaches care more about the people taking the class than looking at themselves in the mirror (cough Barry's cough Soul Cycle cough.) I like that you aren't ever doing any one thing for so long that you want to die. I like that we are taught as a class, but encouraged as individuals. I like that instead of being made to feel shame for not being the fittest, fastest or most intense, I'm celebrated for my efforts, and even my small successes count.

If you'd told me a year ago that a) I'd fall in love with a studio where every class is challenging in it's own way or b)I'd become someone who works out 4-5x a week, I'd have called you crazy. I've always gone to the gym, I've worked with trainers, but I've never consistently loved it. OTF has changed that for me - and almost a year later, I'll tell anyone who'll listen (or is a captive audience) that when a studio/community/workout program empowers you in the gym, you'll feel empowered outside it too.

I love everything about Orangetheory! The coaches, the music, the variety in workouts as well as the challenge that each workout brings. It's never a dull moment so it's great because it keeps me and my body guessing, which supports me in attaining results. I mostly enjoy the progress I make each time I go just by challenging myself to make a small adjustment, whether I push myself to go a little bit harder on either the rower, the treadmill or on the weight room floor. Orangetheory has really supported me in balancing listening to what I need with pushing my body's limits for growth and making sure that what I tell myself silently is consistent with all that. The positive phrases on the walls support that too, especially when I may feel like taking my foot off the gas when I can actually keep going. It's me vs. me in there, and something someone told me comes to mind, "Self to others for inspiration, self to self for improvement." That idea and philosophy is one that I have adopted in life and I get to practice it weekly at Orangetheory. Both the Melrose and West Hollywood locations are great!

All my life I've hated working out. I heard of Orangetheory when I moved to California 8 months ago, and have been working out there for 7 of those months. From the first phone call to today, I have received nothing but kindness, help, and encouragement! The front desk staff and the coaches are seriously amazing. There is never not a smile or enthusiasm coming from them. The workouts are different every single day and they're always challenging, but the kind of challenging that makes you want to come back the next day and see what that will be like. It's worth the money. You will not regret it!

I've been working out at Orange Theory for about 6 months now, and I have to say that this is the best studio and workout I have ever done. The front desk staff are soo friendly and helpful, the coaches are amazing and energetic and the workout is fit for all levels. I started off as a power walker and am proud to report that I am transitioning into jogging, which I never thought I could do for 30 mins straight! Have to mention that having worked out at multiple studios both here and on the east coast this is by far my favorite!

From the head trainer Erin to the desk attendants this is the best workout community in LA. These people are supportive, charitable, and fun. I am so lucky to have them as my friends and workout partners. OTF is the best way to hit your fitness goals in a judgment free environment with some of the best people you'll ever sweat with.

This place is great. I honestly don't think you'll get a better workout for your $ anywhere else in LA.
I was at my peak physical condition when I trained & fought competitive Muay Thai (for obvious reasons) and I feel like this will get me close to where I was then. I'm active in many other areas currently (swimming, spin, etc) but this seems like the most beneficial.
Personally I'm not a "gym" person. Going to the gym and lifting weights around a bunch of selfie taking, grunting, or woman lurking people just doesn't do it for me. I had a personal trainer for a long while with whom I'd do HIIT/plyo. He was motivating and it was great, but it was a) SUPER expensive and b) sessions were only 30 minutes. On top of that, gym memberships themselves are not cheap for LA's best establishments (Equinox, Dave Barton, etc). So I was spending upwards of $500/month. Yikes.
Training at OT is basically like doing the same stuff I did with my personal trainer for an hour long and at a small fraction of the $. Kind of a no brainer there. It also still feels like a personal experience regardless of class size. The coach for all my classes, Erin, knows everyone by name and gives everyone guidance. She's also hella rad and a total boss. *high-five*
If you're looking to get a great workout without breaking the bank look no further. OT is your one stop shop. Now if you'll excuse me, it's protein shake time!

Everyone from the front-end to the coaches are knowledgeable and fired-up that you're there. The workout changes constantly so it's never boring and the OTB screen is a great resource to track progress. I also love the fitness challenges/contests.

From the time I booked my class with Tanner, to getting briefed by Victoria on how to use the equipment and taking a power class with Phil, everyone was informative, friendly and encouraging!

Absolutely fantastic work out! Best work out I've ever done! Constantly pushing your boundaries and evident progress seen in little time! Better yet, thanks to the wonderful OTF Melrose team, which make it that much more enjoyable and motivational to work harder.

I love that all of the trainers are so positive and encouraging! I also like that you can watch your heart rate as you exercise and the workout involves moving to different machines to switch things up.
