Love this place. You see people of all fitness levels all working out at the same time. I was really worried that I wouldn’t be able to keep up or look silly walking on the treadmill next to runners. Not the case whatsoever. Coach an extremely knowledgeable and help you along the way and provide modifications as needed. And the community here is fantastic. Fist bumps after every workout. My husband and I are grateful to have OTF in our lives.

I remember my first time going there as a free guest (6yr ago). The trainer for that day whisper to my ear to keep running to burn these fat. I was weighing 183. 5ft tall, complaining bout how I feel like I can still run but my calf is giving up on me. I know I have fat that need to be burn off but I'm sure there a right way how to do it.

GREEN THEORY. Studio is more of a Curves than an OTF, front desk is incredibly greedy.
I’ve Been a OTF member since 2017. I was a member at this studio from 2019 to 2024. I usually work out at 6:15 a.m. I originally started at the Chico OTF. I lost 25 lbs at Chico OTF. I felt rejuvenated, energized, I thought it was an amazing program. In 2017, 205 lbs down to 180 lbs in 12 weeks. I was sold. Hook, line, & sinker.
Unlike this studio, other OTF studios don’t charge you $12.00 immediately if you miss a class or late cancel. Other studios give you the whole day to make up a class before penalty. This is a healthy incentive to make up a workout to avoid penalty.
From 2019-2023, this studio would not let you make up a class. They pocketed the money, essentially stealing from their members who were charged & not reimbursed. If you make up a class, you don’t get charged, that’s the OTF custom. Not at this studio.
Aveena at the front desk enjoys being a dark and a cruel person. She’s also unprofessional. If she dislikes you she is passive aggressive. On more than on occasion she would not bring my monitor to me during the work out. If your monitor is dead at the beginning of the workout the front desk will charge it for you then bring it to you as a courtesy so you don’t interrupt your workout. She wouldn’t bring my monitor to me as that was beneath her.
Key Terms & concepts
Splat point: 1 splat point means you maintained you heart rate in the orange or red zone for one minute. Your heart rate monitor tracks every second that you are in the blue, green, orange or red zone.
For me, blue zone is 110 bpm to 132 bpm, green zone 132-151 bpm, orange zone 152-165 bpm, red zone 166+ bpm. To earn one splat point I need to maintain 152+ bpm for 60 seconds or one minute.
The original purpose of OTF: each class get 12 splat points (orange/red zone) per class. Doing so will achieve the 48 hour after burn effect. After burn effect =change your metabolism. Change your metabolism =lose weight. 205 to 180.
2G class has room for 24 members.
3G class has room for 36 members.
Smaller class size=better work out & better instruction. Smaller class size individual attention from the coach to perfect your form on the weight floor & rower. Not unlike children in elementary school.The 2Gs are effective. You lose weight, even in shape members earn up 20-30 splat points per class. 2Gs fill up quick, but you have to book 2-3 weeks out.
Evolution from Orange theory to Green Theory
Sometime in 2022/23 this studio started offering predominantly 3Gs. New members complained they couldn’t book 2G classes. Management decided to become a 3G studio. The 3G decision was a financial decision to retain new members & offer larger classes to accommodate demand.
Since the switch to 3G
1. The coaches don’t preach the 48 hour after burn effect. Over half the class can’t achieve 12 splat points because there isn’t enough running & rowing. If you do earn 12 splat points it’s because you disregard the coaching & keep jogging when instructed to walk.
2. Longtime members have actually gained weight in the last 2 years. The studio is no longer full of athletes. This place used to be comparable to cross fit. Now it’s looks more like a Curves studio or an audition site for “The Bigest Loser.” It’s sad.
HQ or management took a good thing & destroyed it.
3. In 2023, Many times I enrolled in a 2G but when I arrive at the studio it’s a 3G.
Their reply to this review is both pretentious & misleading, I spoke with the regional manager about offering more 2G classes. She has marching orders from HQ stick to the 3G format, presumably to make more money. It’s a corporation so I understand they must maximize profits but their ORIGINAL message & goal for members was to get 12 splat points per class, this in turn gives your metabolism a 48 hour after burn effect which resulted in shedding fat & trim bodies. Again the place is now full of overweight members who do not have visible gains after dedicated attendance.

I definitely have an OTF problem, as this is my 29th different studio in 2024. I was flying in and out of Sacramento for a trip and then up to Lake Tahoe for an event. Wanting to slip in a class, I landed at 11 am, so I didn't have time to add the noon class via the app. Not a problem. Parking was easy, the staff was accommodating and the setting was clean and bright. Coach Keri was energetic and well-paced. The layout was nice and open, and the treads were the newer ones. Not sure when I'll be back in the area, but if I am, will be back.

Ok honest review! So I just completed my 29th class attending Orange theory I started when I was 4 months postpartum . My first class i was nervous and didn’t have any expectations going in I just wanted to kick start my weigh loss journey, little did I know I would become hooked on the workouts and getting push by the coaches to work hard and finish strong. I love it here this location is amazing. Shout out to coach Mary (my fav) she is so dope she pushes me and it works! It makes me want to push myself and I love that for me ! Coach Dharma is also very motivating he always say “ we don’t stop when we are tired we stop when we are finish” or something like that but everytime he says that it reminds me why I am there and that is to reach my fitness goals last but not least coach Keri she is so chill but i love that she checks in after every class and and she is very helpful when you’re on the floor and helps you with your form . The front desk ladies are always smiling and greeting me everytime I walk in and leaving out . I love it here !

WARNING: Any injuries DO NOT join. I was gas lit into joining. I let them know in both my intake form and when I called that I have had multiple knee surgeries. I was assured multiple times that the coaches will be aware and will work with me. First class the coach assured me of the same thing. As I kept going to class I realized that was not the case. Regardless of the coach I had to chase them down each class and each exercise. They would show me one exercise to replace the first of the series but not the next several that aren't knee friendly. The coaches focus on the tread. There were serval row sessions that we were all confused and were asking each other what we were supposed to do. Many classes I stood there without any guidance. I tried to speak tor the trainers before class but they were always busy talking to a free trial user or a regular. I spoke to the front desk and coaches multiple times that i was not getting the coaching I was promised with my knee. The front desk and the coaches said it was their job to be asked for adaptions. The coaches should be proactive when told I can't do this knee exercise and show the next few adaptions. Instead I had to chase them down across the room. I injured my knee in class and when I called telling them it was in no way knee injury friendly I was told I had to pay for a month to cancel.

There is a injury policy that I think folks should be aware of. The type of exercise they offer (running on a treadmill, rowing machine and weights)really stimulated past injuries. I don't blame the instructors at all. My issue is that once I noticed the toll it was taking on my body, I withdrew my membership. However, even with intense back pain when I exercise, they said they had to charge me an additional month. They offered to put my membership on pause for two months, but even so, I still have to pay the additional month even if I am still worried about injury to my body. They said they would wave the 15$ to put your membership on hold if I had a note from a doctor. Wow, not helpful.
I don't usually write bad reviews, but I think its good for folks to know what they are getting into. The folks there are nice enough, but the corporate policy about withdrawing your membership is a bit of a scam.

I used to be very active and went to the gym at least 4x a week… I’ve been busy with kids the last couple of years and I finally mustered up the courage to get back to working out and I couldn’t have found a better place to restart my health journey. All the coaches are absolutely amazing!
Coach Francis is so caring, knowledgeable and motivating. He makes it a point to learn everyone’s name in the class. He’s so motivating and constantly cheers people on. Takes the time to explain things in detail to make sure you have good form and make the most of your workouts.
Coach Dhar is awesome- I took my first class with him and I was sold! Really great at explaining things and very motivating.
Coach Mary is so awesome… she always helps if I have any questions.
I just wanted to give the team a proper shoutout and a big thank you for making me feel so comfortable with getting back to the gym. I’m mentally and physically feeling so much better!

Really bad customer service.Been a member of Orange theory for a year. All the coaches are great but worst customer service they don’t know how to treat people. Only know how to argue. I really had a bad experience with one tall girl working on 12 july 2023 at 18.30 shift. I have no idea if I am late for 5 minutes they will never let me in. But there is a nice way to say no need to argue. I believe in good customer service. Not going to renew my membership with them.

Can’t recommend enough. These classes are great for all levels of fitness because you are only competing with yourself to get better. The best part of this gym is the coaches.
I did my beginner course with Coach Francis and he has been great at keeping track of my progress which is very motivating. I have taken most of my classes with Coach Terra, who is fantastic at ensuring your form is correct and very encouraging at making sure you get the most out of very work out. Coach Dharam brings great spirit to each work out and is great at getting each person to increase their speed or weight when possible.
If you are on the fence about taking a class, don’t hesitate, just try it. (First class is free) The front staff is very friendly and not pushy.

The Natomas Orangetheory studio deserves way more than a 5 star rating! The energy from each coach is truly motivating and I always come away from class as a better version of myself. I know it sounds corny, but it is true. I'm a fairly seasoned fitness enthusiast and I have learned so many new tips to better my weight lifting form and to become a stronger rower and faster runner. The energy of the studio is like nothing else I've experienced at a gym. Once the lights dim, the music pumps and you know it's time to get to work! It's as though the world outside the Orangetheory studio and all its stresses just melt away-- for one entire hour. The playlists also match the effort which is such an incredible endorphin boost and that motivates me to push harder. Do yourself a favor and try a class with any of the Natomas coaches. Today was my third time at OT. Each time is better than the last. Francis is a phenomenal coach. I have a few limitations and areas that need lots of work. Not only did he give me alternative exercises and coached me on using the machines, he kept the whole class moving and exercising with directions, encouraging remarks and positive feedback.
And staff already know my name. I’m pumped!

I was struggling so hard to find a workout that motivated and encouraged me. I was very out of shape when I started, so I was terrified of that "gym mentality" that everyone talks about. Well, you won't find that here! The coaches are amazing and will work with you to build up your fitness. Can't run on a treadmill? No problem, you can walk at incline instead. Can't do push ups? No problem, you can do modified versions. Since everyone is competing against their own heart rate rather than each other, there's a wonderful comraderie that develops, no matter whether you're a marathon runner or just getting started on your fitness journey. I can't recommend this place enough. It's made me feel stronger and more confident, and it's been a lot of fun the whole way. Give it a try, you won't regret it!

This was on of the most enjoyable yet challenging workouts I've ever done. I burned over 500 calories in one class and It felt like the time flew by! With amazing coach, a great mix up on the workout routine, great music, positive energy, definitely a challenge but achievable, and a great group of people! Just when your ready to give up the rountine changes! Couldn't help but sign up after the first free try! Can't wait for the next class!

Over 3.5 years ago I took my first class and immediately fell in love with all things OTF. Prior to joining OTF I did Crossfit for a few years but found myself getting injured repeatedly and wishing I had a better cardio and full body workout regimen. I have very limited time and the OTF 60 min w/o is exactly what I needed. That being said, the workout is only half the equation. What truly makes the difference for me is staff. From the Sales Assistants to the coaches, everyone is "all in" to help you succeed in your fitness goals. I've been to OTF studios all over the country and they are all great, but the Natomas OTF staff have always had a slightly higher bar. I'm constantly blown away by all our Natomas coaches genuine concern for their members and their tailored approach to each member (even though I sometimes want hurt them for making me exceed my own goals). I can honestly say that our OTF Natomas coaches feel like family and I can never thank them enough for all they do for us. THANK YOU!

The common denominator to any successful workout is motivation. And let’s be real- I just don’t have that motivation all the time. What I love about OTF is that all the coaches in every class bring out that motivation- making you push past your limits and get the best out of every workout. There are even days where I feel like all I want to do is sleep, then I go to one of my classes and BAM- I’m awake. It’s a great ‘pick-me-up’ before work and an even better de-stress for after.

I love the challenge and mix of a different workout every day! I also love the fact I can watch my heart rate to see where I'm at and it challenges me even more. Coaches are amazing (specifically Natomas). Not only do they know what they are doing, but they can train effectively. They push you and encourage you. They keep pace. Their passion is very obvious. I love that I can see when I need to work harder and when I need to slow down from my heart rate monitor. The work outs challenge me a lot more than what I can come up with on my own. And I have the added plus of having someone help me if I am not doing the exercise correctly. I do recommend gloves for the rower - still need to get some. Also, no repeat work outs, aka I don't get bored.

I love the style of workouts here! Being a former athlete, I'd been searching for a good place and this is it! You get out what you put in to each workout. I love the heart rate monitors and being able to have a breakdown of my workout stats after. I have some pre existing injuries from a car accident as well, and the coaches are great with giving me alternate exercises to do so I can still get the most out of each workout.

I have been to most gyms in the Sacramento area, and this gym is by far the best experience I have ever had. Everyone from the front desk staff to the coaches is happy to be there and to help in any way they can. I am very out of shape, and all I feel is positive support and encouragement from the coaches and people attending the classes with me. When I first signed up my app was not working, and Bri sat on hold with tech support for me so that I didn't have to. Other gyms with similar formats try to motivate you by yelling or just telling to you work harder, at Orange Theory the coaches are sincere in their care for you, and that is so motivational. Never have I had anyone make me feel weak or bad about myself if I need more instructions on a move or a modification. The cost is a little pricey, but both the mental, physical, and self-esteem results are amazing!

I found my way to Orange Theory through a friend who on a whim wanted to try the workout. At the time I didn’t think I had the time or motivation to attend. But I signed up with her for the free 10 classes promotion. After workout 2 I was hooked! Yes I felt like I was going to die and couldn’t make it though the workout but the trainers (Avery and Austin) who I did those workouts with made sure I was motivated and pushed through! I felt success within and I knew Orange Theory was for me. It’s been four months now and I’m stronger, faster, still motivated to continue to my goals and the better me physically I know I can be. As a wife and mother of two growing boys I feel like there just never enough time for me...but with Orange Theory I’ve found that all I need is 60 minutes and I can get the self care I need so I can continue to be the best for my husband and two boys. All I can say is, I’m hooked on the Orange juice!!! 😜🧡🍊💪🏾
