Love love love this gym ✨. Head Coach Steph is amazing and on point each and every single time. Motivating you, correcting your posture, and pushing you to be your best. I really enjoyed going to this location. At first, I came here because they have the newer treadmills, and the Burbank location does not. They are much more comfortable on your joints. But I’ve also really enjoyed the instructors and staff here. They are all really great and provide a fun workout. Definitely recommend!

I took a class with Orangetheory Sherman Oaks about a month ago which was actually quite nice, but that is not what this review is about. The reason for the one star is the bait and switch marketing tactics of their memberships. Initially, I decided to hold off on a membership because I still had a lot of Classpass credit to get through. A representative from Sherman Oaks, Jessie, then reached out via text with a promotion to start my membership. The pitch was "Your first month of Premier is FREE with a purchase of a heart rate monitor... the premier membership includes unlimited classes a month and the heart rate monitor is originally $130 however I can add $30 off for you." This sounded like a decent proposition... I buy their hardware for $100 and I get a month free of classes. No additional information was provided in that conversation regarding spending more than that $100. I agreed and signed their lengthy contract, which I thought was just a recap of what I was told. What Jessie didn't tell me, was that I was committing to paying for a second month up front in the contract. You would think that would be something to disclose... perhaps by saying, sign up for 2 months and get the first month free. But no, so much easier getting people in the door by leaving that crucial detail out. Two weeks later when I was about to start my first free month and buy the heartrate monitor, Kim reaches out to me asking for updated credit card info for the $130. I was like $130? I was told $100. Kim explained that the promotion had ended for the $30 off and they actually needed $130 now. This is where the unnecessary drama started. I said no, I'm not going to pay more than I was originally told. After much back and forth over text, they relented and offered me the heart rate monitor for $100. It was THEN that they decided to tell me about the "2 month commitment...since you are getting the first month free". I responded that it had never been disclosed in our conversations that I was committing to two months. That's when they switched from text to only phone calls. It was explained to me that the contract mentioned those details. I then asked why that wouldn't be mentioned in the initial sales pitch. They apologized for the miscommunication, but felt it was still on me for not reading every word on every page of the contract. In one of these phone calls, I spoke with the manager, Yash, who admitted to the initial non-disclosure (since all of it up to this point was in writing) and apologized. Unfortunately, the admittance was hollow. I asked Yash to simply honor what I was initially pitched by his representatives. His response: "Our system won't allow us to do that". We ended the phone call after the total stalemate. Why would anyone want to sign up for a membership with a business who withholds information to get you in the door? It felt like a classic bait and switch operation. For the record, I would have considered a two month commitment if that was actually disclosed before signing a contract. I wasn't looking for freebies but I was looking for honesty and integrity. I got neither of those from Orangetheory.

This isn't even my home studio but I still feel compelled to write a review because the staff here are just phenomenal! The front desk sales associates are always on top of their game and friendly. Moreover, the coaches are just true professionals. Their energy is contagious and I love all the extra feedback they give during and after class. Highly recommend this OTF studio to anyone looking for a great workout and gym experience!

Heartbreaking and Disrespectful Experience

I came to this location for the first time because it was closer to my doctor’s office, hoping for a positive experience. Unfortunately, what happened was deeply hurtful and left me in tears.

I struggle with social anxiety, so even getting to a class is a big step for me. When I arrived a bit early, I felt cold in the lobby and asked if I could warm up on a treadmill. The room was empty, but I was told, rather abruptly, that I couldn’t. I respected the rule and waited elsewhere, trying to stay calm.

Later, I got on the treadmill at 6:24 and quickly took out my phone to send my boyfriend the address so he could pick me up after class. Almost immediately, I was approached by “coach” Stephanie Griffith and told I couldn’t use my phone. I tried to explain, politely, that I was just sending a quick text and would put it away. However, I was repeatedly told “no” in a way that felt harsh and dismissive. I became overwhelmed and, out of frustration, expressed how upset I was, only to be asked to leave the class.

The whole experience was extremely embarrassing. As someone who already finds it difficult to attend classes due to anxiety, being treated this way in front of others felt like too much to handle. I cried all the way home, and it has made me feel unwelcome and disrespected.

I’ve never had an issue at any other OrangeTheory location, but this encounter has led me to cancel my membership. It’s heartbreaking that something meant to be positive turned into such a painful experience.

Visiting from out of town. Workout was good. Delvon is a good coach, has good energy. The treads are close together but it’s ok. The one thing they could improve on is being diligent about having members wipe down equipment (I saw very few do this and it’s a busy studio), and get a deep clean done regularly. We had to kneel on the bosu for one of the exercises today and when I got up, I was dripping with dirty sweat. It’s normal to sweat, it’s not normal to have dirt to that degree.

The workout is always great but this studio is so congested. The treads are way too close together. They’re so close that you can feel other people’s body heat radiating off of them. Mid workout I got splashed in the face with sweat from the person next to me. They try to pack in as many people as possible and forget all about the user experience. There’s no reason why I should be getting a random person’s bodily fluids on me during a workout.

Amazing gym, great staff, and very challenging workouts.

The Sherman Oaks studio offers a Lift50 class on Fridays at 315–works great with my schedule. Yet heard that as of mid January, they will be eliminating it from their schedule. Very bummed about that and now will have to drive to a studio closer to home that day to get my lift 50 class (a 40 min drive).

I’ve been doing this now for over two years and I think it’s a good program. They’re always switching up their exercises and definitely help building your body to perform better athletically. The teachers are all pretty good some better than others, but I would recommend it or at least try it out.

When I started my workout journey two years ago, I was looking for a group exercise studio that made me look forward to coming and working out instead of making it feel like a daily chore. Not only do I look forward to exercising everyday, but I also look forward to interacting with all the wonderful coaches and staff. they really make a good team and contribute to the over all high energy of the place. everyone is super nice, supportive, and accommodating.

I’m excited to get back to exercising on a regular basis after recovering from foot surgery a few months ago. Orangetheory feels like a great option for me, I had a wonderful trial at the Sherman Oaks location. The front staff (Teja) was super friendly and helped answer any questions. The coach (Michael) kept checking in on me to ensure I was ok as I transitioned through the various stations. The workout itself felt holistic (rowing, strength, treadmill), it was challenging, and easily tailored to my individual needs. There was a sense of community as I quickly bonded with others that were new to Orangetheory. I also appreciated that attention to cleanliness and sanitation of work spaces.

I absolutely love Orange Theory and have been a member for YEARS in several different locations but I recently moved to Sherman Oaks area and had to switch to this studio. I never write bad reviews but this has got to be the WORST OTF studio. Staff is not friendly, Coaches are terribly rude, Bathrooms are not clean, Studio is dirty, small and crammed. Truly the worst vibes. Cancelled my membership as I almost always leave this studio in tears due to being treated so poorly by the coaches and staff. Considering the price too it’s 100% not worth it. Don’t go here

If you go for food don't go. The 2 lbs burrito was a large tortilla packed with uncooked rice, a little chicken, and beans.

I am giving them one star just because I liked the coaches. Otherwise do not waste money buying their heart monitor (which should be free in my opinion if you’re paying $129/ month for 8 classes or even $199/mo for unlimited classes. The monitor doesn’t work and the staff will give you a bunch of excuses for not working during the workouts. The staff brushes off your concerns and tell you we will look into it, but don’t despite you telling them that what they are doing is discouraging.
I tried calling a few times to cancel my membership and they do not answer their phones.
Sadly they charge you $12 for a trial class and then $129 the same day if you sign up for the membership. They expect you to read the fine print so don’t expect them to also tell you that when you decide to cancel it must me “30 days in advance” PLUS ONE ADDITIONAL MONTH OF MEMBERSHIP. What a way to trick and lie to customers. I promise you the staff won’t tell
You this and they rush you into signing the membership. So don’t bother going there. Regular gyms have classes too and are way cheaper and you can go anytime and work out at your convenience with access to more equipment. Although I was never late I saw someone that came 2 min into the class started and they sent her away. You could tell the poor lady has frantically rushed in so she wouldn’t have missed the class but the staff were so unapologetic and turned her away. Like really? Even if she was 10 minutes late, they shouldn’t have done that to her.
I finally got a hold of someone today and was just requesting to refund the charge for this month since I had been trying to call them
In over a week and was told they can’t do anything about it and would try to see if their manager would be able to refund me.
I’ll wait and see when and if I hear back cause the girl helping me couldn’t even day when that might be. She said you might get a call, text, or email but didn’t want to give a timeline like maybe today, tomorrow or even next week.

I signed up for a month trial where I went about 2-3 times. I was not aware that the club would charge me on a monthly basis after this as when I signed up, we discussed that I’d only try it out for a week and see if I liked it. Orange theory charged me on a monthly basis for 1 year although I didn’t attend and I wasn’t aware as it was an account I don’t often use. PLEASE be sure to check what you sign with them as they set up automatic payments and don’t inform their clients!

Had two amazing workouts and have officially joined OTF. The coaches are helpful, provide detailed guidance, full of positive energy. And most importantly, the front desk staff have excellent customer service. I felt welcomed. The staff took the time to explain the OTF process and functions. There aren't enough good things to say about the Sherman Oaks OT studio. Every staff member is the perfect combination of friendly and professional. They're lead by an extraordinary studio Manager Allie who on multiple occasions has helped me out with whatever I need at a moment's notice. I usually take Coach Maya's class and not only is she an exceptional coach but has incredible music taste (if you love a mix of old and new school hip-hop shes the one for you!) I suffered a minor shoulder injury (not at OT) and when I notified her, she gave me my own workout to perform on the floor without hesitation and I was incredibly grateful. I've gone to at least 3 other OT studios and Sherman Oaks is far away they best experience you'll have!

Orangetheory Fitness in and of itself is a great HIIT workout that has you feeling energized and accomplished after each class. The Sherman Oaks location is top notch in that the staff make an effort to get to know you, so you feel like family. The coaches are next level amazing because they love what they do and believe me, it shows! They take the time to ensure each member is getting the most out of the workout, but also that each person is doing movements on the tread, rower and floor correctly. I could not ask for a better place to workout, it has truly changed the way I think about fitness. I highly recommend OTF Sherman Oaks, you won’t be disappointed!

I conquered my first Orangetheory class and boy was it awesome. I love that the work out was challenging in itself, but you could increase or decrease your intensity and still achieve a great work out. By it being my first class the coach (Breanna) and Warren constantly came to checked on my form. This has definitely become my new fitness addiction.

Let me start by saying I hate going to the gym. I always have. I also like to eat. A lot. The two are not conducive to being healthy. A friend had posted on FaceBook about OrangeTheory and I did a deep dive on YouTube. I gave it a try and was hooked from the first class. I purchased a membership with unlimited monthly visits on the spot and go five times a week. As for the ShermanOaks studio - It can accommodate a class of 45 people, but since the classes are popular I generally schedule my classes a month ahead of time. Classes are easily booked on the OrangeTheory app. The coaches are always supportive and encouraging, and help out when my form could be improved. The front desk staff are welcoming and friendly. One of my favorite things is if I have a question, I can text the studio. It's always a little crazy in between classes so it's more efficient to ask my question by text. I always get a timely response.

Going from someone who hates working out, to becoming a "fitness person" basically overnight has made some noticeable changes to my body in the few months since I joined. I only made minor changes to my diet (I still like to eat. A Lot) but going to OTF Sherman Oaks twenty times a month makes a huge difference.

If you're thinking of making a change, I can't recommend OrangeTheory highly enough.

After working out at Barry's Bootcamp Sherman Oaks for 6 years, I had to undergo a serious amputation injury because of the company's negligence to safety. Still making no changes to their safety protocols and taking zero responsibility for this injury, I no longer felt treated as part of the "fit fam" they claim everyone is a part of. Instead I was disregarded. I was extremely afraid and apprehensive to join a new club but with several visits and conversations before even beginning to work out at Orangetheory, I felt the staff was understanding, professional and encouraging. With their help I was able to workout again slowly but surely in a much, brighter, safer, clean and professional environment. Their method is so much better than anywhere I have gone to. The full body workouts constantly change making me stronger all around with less stress injury. Modifications are explained well, staff is always available for questions and safety is key. After the trauma I went through, I never thought I'd be able to return to a gym. Thanks to all that have helped me out at Orangetheory, I truly am grateful for your patience and understanding.
The only challenge thus far is booking classes via their app, sometimes it has glitches but you can text them to add you in ..... I have to keep it real ; )

I don't like to work out and I never stick with any workouts I try...but OTF Sherman Oaks has changed all that for me. I love it here. Amazing classes that are never the same, incredible coaches that are knowledgeable and very motivating, fabulous music, great desk staff, clean, lots of community events and I keep coming back.

I am not a fitness expert, but I think the workout templates are designed to target all muscle groups, giving the members a total body workout. The variation, and sometimes, combination of Endurance, Strength, and Power days also definitely add excitement to the workouts, since the members will not know what to expect. And of course, what makes everything more effective is how the exercises are implemented by such professional, motivational, and caring coaches. I would like to highly-commend Coach Delvon, Coach Michael, Coach Erin, Coach Brendon, Coach Hope, and Coach JZ for all the hard-work and passion they pour out to everyone, each time.

Can’t say enough good things about OTF Sherman Oaks. Coaches are all great, music is always great. Most importantly the workout is sooo good. Works out your whole body and I always burn 500 calories plus. The best thing is not having to ‘think’ about the exercises, how many reps etc that make going to a regular gym so arduous. I have been an OTF member for over a year now and have worked out at other studios and this one by far is in the worst shape. It's unfortunate that it is very dirty and not kept to a level of clean I have experienced at other locations. You're already sharing equipment and weights with other members during class but to see marks on the mirrors, tons of dust under the treadmills and grit and grime on the rowers it's distracting to have to wonder when the last time the gym was thoroughly cleaned.

EVERYTHING! I never get bored. The change in the workouts from day to day keep me engaged and challenged. I also like how I can monitor my heart rate and effort individually so I can tell if I have more to give or am giving all I can to my workout. The great music keeps me motivated with a rhythm to work! Then of course there are the results. I can not only see my body changing but I can feel the changes. I know I am getting stronger and healthier with every workout and that keeps me loving my Orange Theory!

I absolutely love this place. I’m here at least 6 times a week, sometimes 7. Love the workouts, the staff and of course, the most awesome coaches. This workout is suitable for every level and you can take it up or down depending on your level. I have been going here since Jan ‘17 and still look forward to every class. It doesn’t get boring and keeps me engaged. The studio has a very upbeat and welcoming vibe which I love. Highly recommend trying it at least once, and that’s enough to get you hooked.

Joined OTF Sherman Oaks as a founding member in October of 2016 and never looked back. I love it and continue to go an average of 4 -5 times a week. The combination of weightlifting/floor, rower and treadmill really works to optimize your workout -- all in a high energy and supportive environment. The front desk staff are always welcoming and do everything possible to ensure a good experience. The coaches are top notch -- they really try to get to know everyone, are extremely motivating and work hard to make sure you are doing the exercises correctly. They coaches know when to push you, but are also quick to provide a modification if needed. The studio is kept spotless and I really appreciate that everyone wipes down equipment immediately after using it. This is truly a fantastic gym. Keep at it and you WILL see results.

Every time I finish a class, I can't wait to come back. It's a great combo of what the workout is and how you're coached thru it, but that it's up to you to push yourself. I love that there are different coaches, each with their own style, all happy to challenge you to "empty the tank," encourage you when they notice you're improving, and help you with whatever you need. It makes a week of working out varied and fun. The location at the mall is great for parking. Front desk staff in person, text, or on the phone have been incredibly responsive, friendly and helpful. I can't recommend this gym, and this particular location, enough! :)
