I have been to a lot of yoga studios, a lot of pilates places, here in Oakland, the Bay Area, and beyond. OVRHL is more than a workout spot. And it is ALSO a workout spot. If you want to sweat, laugh and maybe cry..if you want to feel strong and beautiful and powerful, if you want to vibe with some beautiful people, if you want to know that your work to get stronger is also about community getting more powerful, check it out!

When your life is smoldering and the world surrounding you is ablaze, how can you search for a piece of peace; let alone hope to find some? Well, having been introduced to zåhzåh's zen dén yoga class offering this morning at OVRHL, I felt seen, held, gently cared for and loved - beyond the word l-o-v-e in human form, but rather on a sacred spiritual plane. I cannot wait to experience this wellness in mind, body and spirit again. I can tell you that I was the last participant to leave out the door; my embers smoldering behind me. zåhzåh, THANK YOU! You are 1-of-1.

tl;dr: ovrhl is an Oakland gem, and such special place where everything is approached with deep intention. Come here for a challenging yoga or pilates, spiritually grounded class, you will be so happy you did! Bring a mat (or rent one) and a water bottle. Classes are heated or not. Classes description are accurate so you can find the vibe that works best for you.
Long review: Finding ovrhl on ClassPass felt like divine timing—I didn’t hesitate to lock in for a six-month membership. When you come across something like this, you just know.
Over time, I’ve mainly enjoyed hot Pilates and Ashtanga classes, but dabbled in the slow yin class, they each have a different flavor and teachers here are S tier.
On Pilates: I’ve been moved to tears by the deep medicine of Mo’s words and ability to guide you through practice in a way that is both firm and tender. Mo’s classes will wring you out and kick your ass.
On Ashtanga: A ritual experience as the class title suggest. This class will sharpen your discipline, deepen your command of the practice, and tend to that inner fire. I deeply appreciate that Mo stays true to the lineage by sharing prayers in Sanskrit and naming postures in both Sanskrit and their Western translations.
I can’t say enough about this space, other than that I’ve found a place where I feel profoundly held while also getting to witness others blooming.
The studio itself is stewarded with such integrity—openly communicating changes, inviting community participation in decisions, and addressing feedback with honesty. It creates a sense that we’re all moving and healing together.

I’ve been coming to this studio since its inception, and it’s truly been a transformative experience. The Mo-Hot Pilates class is my go-to, and it consistently challenges me in the best way possible. Every session is intense, energizing, and deeply healing both physically and mentally. I’ve also taken several of the other classes, and the quality across the board is exceptional.
The instructors are incredibly dedicated and passionate. They put so much care and effort into what they do, and it shows — not just in the quality of the workouts, but in the welcoming, supportive environment they’ve created. You feel safe, encouraged, and genuinely cared for every time you step into the studio.
Huge shoutout to Mo for cultivating such a powerful space. If you’re looking for a class that truly works your body and is medicine for your entire being, I can’t recommend this place enough. Its a whole vibe.

I've taken exercise classes in the East Bay for 20 years -- dance, yoga, conditioning, etc -- and Ovrhl is absolutely tops. Moses has crafted a gorgeous space, with a uniquely warm and loving Oakland vibe, and absolutely excellent classes. I'd give this spot ten stars if I could. I haven't taken anything with other instructors yet, but holy hell, Moses' pilates classes: transcendent, revelatory, inspiring, healing. They are gooooood hard work for the body, (really challenging, comprehensive whole body workout, with targeted precision for core, butt, arms etc) but also deeply nourishing for the soul. You leave feeling not only euphoric and calm in your body, but grounded in strength and community, re-empowered in life. If Prince were a pilates instructor, and his instrument was the body, well, that's Moses. :)

This is THE PLACE in the bay area for pilates and yoga. I originally came for Moses, but discovered so many other amazing instructors. Sign up for anything. You won't regret it.

I went here yesterday for my first class and I’m in love! It’s been so hard finding a good hot Pilates/yoga studio in the area, and I’m so glad this space exists. The staff were all incredibly friendly and welcoming—which made a huge difference, since trying a new studio can be intimidating. Even the people in class were super kind and supportive.
Parking nearby looked easy, and it’s just a short walk from 12th St BART. I took the Sultry Stretch class, and it was exactly what I needed after a stressful work day. I can’t wait to come back and try the hot Pilates next time!
If you don’t have a mat, you can rent one for just $2. The space itself is beautiful and clean. Seriously—just try a class. You won’t regret it!

Whether I’m moving through a yoga flow or sweating in pilates, I always leave feeling more connected to my body and spirit. It’s community, it’s practice, it’s love. Highly recommended. - Bloodstone

So grateful to Mo and Viva, it’s a community place not just for accessible fun challenging classes with amazing music and people but a space for healing and collective liberation. The spiritual foundation here is felt and it is inclusive. Feels like a dream come true. It’s 2025, we need our businesses aligned with our values!! We need our businesses to be about people not profits. ❤️🙏🏼

Been taking Moses’ class for nearly a year and so stoked to see his and Viva’s energy filling a space of their own.
Be ready to work! But also know you’re surrounded by (com)passionate souls on the mat and at the end of class you’re gonna feel so good!
They’re still getting everything going but the line up of other instructors and classes is promising big things- get ready y’all!

It’s not often that the name of a class perfectly encapsulates the entire experience, but that’s exactly how I feel when I go to Breathe & Bloom, led by Viva. I feel centered in my breath, stronger without feeling sore, and like my whole heart/body/Spirit is BLOOMING. Check out this and many other wondrous opportunities for Transformation available at OVRHL.

Moses's pilates class is the best possible full body and mind workout--you won't know it is just what your body needs until you try it, and then you'll want it over and over. But more importantly, they and Viva and everyone else involved in OVRHL are creating a beautiful, healing, diverse, inquisitive, and inclusive community space. OVRHL encapsulates Oakland at its best.

OVRHL has transformed my life, a true overhaul - physically, mentally, spiritually. There's something really magical about this space and the people in it. A gem of Oakland! I can't get enough of the classes. I leave each one feeling rejuvenated, ready to take on whatever the day may bring, and eager for the next one. The music is SO GOOD, you can't help but want to dance - and we do!! Perreando all the way to shavasana ;)
Not to mention, I've made beautiful friendships while here. Came for the class, stayed for the ✨community✨

This might be exactly what you thought you needed. I just tried the hot Pilates and am so excited to know this place exists. The vibessss! Moses sets the scene from the rhythmic playlist, impromptu human experience stories and insights, and participants who are there for it all. It was EXACTLY what I needed.
I was nervous to participate, concerned about whether I could keep up. I've spent the last 3 years spiraling into a sedentary routine after spending several years committed to an active life - running, HIIT, yoga and lots of pilates. That sedentary shift resulted in pyriformis syndrome probably set on by my tilted/slanted pelvis from sitting on my booty so much for work and not moving like I'd like.
I left that class like my back hadn't been causing me major discomfort for several weeks. And LIGHT! I felt so light like I'd detoxed.
The class is intense but in the most gentle way. Not for the faint of heart, but if you are active and open to a vibrant community, intentional physical work and VIBESSSSS, just come check it out. Come hydrated, be prepared to continue to hydrate and enjoy what your body is capable of in a space that is welcoming, gentle, and energetic.
