UPDATE: Own It Fitness is still the best! After a move to another part of the Bay, Own It Fitness helped me set up a fully online program. The online program has been such a great progression for me. All of my workouts are loaded into the app by my new trainer (Mir, who is incredible!), I do the lifts at a gym closer to my apartment and he checks in with me weekly to see how I'm feeling as I work towards my goals. I still come in once a month for measurements and to work out, which is really helpful to make sure I'm working towards my goals.

When I switched to the online program, everyone at Own It Fitness helped me reassess my goals, think about what is standing in my way, pitfalls to avoid and ways to make sure I stick to my routine. My plan is personalized to me (fitness, nutrition, other movement all work around my schedule and life), and with Mir's check ins, we can adjust things as life comes up. He does still keep me honest and on my routine, which I really appreciate as it could be easy to fall out of being remote. I continue to lift heavier, build muscle and strengthen habits, even from afar!

Even though I'm not coming in for all my sessions anymore, I still feel anchored to the Own It Fitness community. I know Mir has a lot of clients but he knows my goals so well, checks in often and crafts my fitness plan so individually that I imagine--like me--all his clients must feel like they're his only client. Own It Fitness is filled with great people and energy and I'm so grateful to still be a part of this community!

PREVIOUS REVIEW: I started with Own It Fitness in November in their semi-private program. The program I am on is customized for my goals and I really appreciate the holistic approach to hitting my goals. I can see how my food, walking and activity has impacted my overall goals. If I want to try something different or incorporate something new, there is the flexibility to do that. I truly feel like I’m not just working on “getting fit” but hitting milestones to my own personal goals. I feel like I have more energy throughout my day and it helps me build a routine that makes me feel like I can take on more outside of the gym as well. I feel stronger and more confident and feel more like the athlete I was when I was younger.

Alberto is great at pushing me when I feel unsure about going up in weight, he is super encouraging and really open to questions and concerns I have. He is very non-judgemental and helps me walk through any parts of my workout I am hesitant about.

Because I feel good at the gym, I feel like I have the capacity to do more in my life. My sleep has improved dramatically. I am able to sleep through the night and I feel like my stress levels have decreased. I really enjoy the camaraderie with my semi-private class as well. We have gotten to know each other and I look forward to being there twice a week at 7am. I was able to put on a pair of jeans the other day that I wasn’t able to wear and it felt great!

I recently started personal training at Own It Fitness in Fremont and have been working with Mir for a little over 5 weeks now. I’m already seeing results — losing weight, gaining muscle, and feeling stronger not just physically, but also mentally and that’s coming from someone who suffers from anxiety and depression.

I train with Mir twice a week, and he also provides at-home workouts to keep me on track. What I really appreciate is that while I know the effort ultimately has to come from me, both Mir and the team are very accessible and supportive if I ever feel stuck or unmotivated.

The owner, Miguel, is also very welcoming. He took the time to sit down with me at the beginning to go over my goals and expectations, which felt professional and motivating. It really set the tone for me to take this new journey seriously.

On top of that, all of the staff here are amazing and incredibly welcoming, which makes the gym feel like a positive and encouraging place to train.

Overall, I’m really happy with my experience here and would highly recommend Own It Fitness to anyone looking for a supportive, professional, and motivating environment to reach their fitness goals!

I can't say enough great things about Own It Fitness! From Day 1, it was clear the team had a plan for me. We started off by doing a few tests to set a baseline for my fitness level and then my trainer Alberto created a plan off of that. I opted for the Semi-Private classes which were a really great way to get motivated with the others in the room but I never felt like I wasn't attended to by any of the trainers running the sessions (shoutout to Mir, Fabiola, and Miguel also!) After just one month, I saw and felt differences in my body, and was proven right during the regular 4 week check ins seeing the weight I lost. I had more energy throughout the day and my confidence levels were up! The best thing about the program is the workouts incorporate a stretching routine, strength training, and cardio in a 1 hour session. The workouts are also easy to follow at home and require only as much equipment as you already have. Overall, great people and by far the best gym I have been a part of!

I found Own It Fitness a few months before my wedding with the goal to get in the best shape of my life. Right off the bat, Miguel and his team helped formulate a plan with my specific goals in mind. Their approach to a nutrition plan doesn't make you feel like you're on a strict regiment. They make it easy it follow while keeping you on track. Measurements were done for me every 4 weeks and in 3.5 months I lost over 15 pounds. I started off with private training to learn proper form and then did semi-private which were group fitness type sessions with high energy. I can't recommend this gym enough - great people, great vibes, and killer workouts! Thanks so much to Fabiola and Mir for being amazing trainers!

I have been going to OwnIt fitness for over 6 months now and I can definitely see a change in my lifestyle and body composition since I started. I feel more strong and energetic and eat healthy based on nutrition plan suggested. The flexibility and the customized semi-private fitness program that they offer makes it easy for me to pick them as my option to follow my goals. I started with Own It Fitness in May Alberto is my trainer and I already feel like I have more energy throughout the day. I’ve gained muscle in my legs and I notice definition in my arms (which I haven’t seen before!). Accountability has been a huge factor for me, I know that if I were to go to the gym on my own I would cancel or find a reason not to go but the Own it team has been so helpful in making sure I make my training sessions. Being in the gym and weight training is not something I thought I would do. I equated how much you sweat with how much weight you lose and strength training has shown me a different approach to exercise. I feel confident in weight training and overall I feel stronger. I've been struggling with back issues for almost a decade and significantly improved with training before going to Own It Fitness. I thought that it was as good as it was going to get, but with Alberto and Miguel's keen eye for spotting issues they helped me become pain free. What's funny is that wasn't even my goal. I wanted to progress my training and needed a trainer that was able to help explain and coach me on form and strength goals which they also do quite well. I started training with Alberto at Own It Fitness few months ago and it has been such a great experience. From the start, I felt welcomed and supported and now I actually enjoy working out.

I’ve had such a great experience training at Own It Fitness. My personal trainer, Fabs, has been incredible — she really gets me and tailors every workout to suit where I’m at, always making sure I’m comfortable and challenged. I've been training at Own It Fitness since March (semi-private sessions, 2x/week), and the results have been incredible! I've lost 12 lbs of fat, gained 3–4 lbs of muscle, and dropped 9 inches off my waist and 4 inches off my hips—my toughest spot!

What sets this gym apart is the people and their approach. The routine phase-ins they do are great—they’re thoughtfully designed to keep you progressing without feeling overwhelmed. My main trainer, Mir, pays excellent attention to form and makes prompt corrections or challenges you just when it’s needed (and trust me, he’s always right!). I really enjoy training with him. I’ve also had several sessions with Alberto when Mir wasn’t available, and he’s fantastic too.

The owner, Miguel, is incredibly friendly and approachable, and the entire vibe at the gym is encouraging and supportive. Their nutrition guidance has been both practical and effective.

I still have more weight to lose, but with the progress I’ve made so far, I have no doubt I’ll get there—and actually enjoy the journey. 💪🏽🔥

I’ve been a member of Own It Fitness for less than 2 months, and I’m impressed with how welcoming and motivating this gym is. The trainers here are outstanding—goal-oriented, compassionate, and very friendly. A special shoutout goes to my trainer, Mir, who’s been incredible to work with. He takes the time to understand my goals and plans workouts that are both challenging and functional. In less than two months, I’ve lost 5% of my body weight, mostly fat, confirmed by the included InBody scans. Beyond that, my strength, mobility, and endurance have improved significantly, which has been such a game-changer as mother who is trying to keep up with her kids. As a busy working mom, I had little to no time or energy for myself. Exercise attempts often ends in frustration because I simply didn’t know where to start. That all changed a few months ago when I decided to try personal training at Own It Fitness.
It's clean, well-organized, and infused with an energetic yet non-intimidating vibe. Unlike some gyms that can feel overwhelming, Own It felt genuinely welcoming.
They also have semiprivate sessions as well. The entire team at Own it is very supportive, and we also did mission peak hike as a group.
My trainer Miguel took the time to truly understand my unique circumstances. We discussed my lifestyle, my current fitness level (which, frankly, was starting from scratch in terms of strength), and my specific goals. I’d always been wary of strength training, but Miguel’s expertise immediately put those anxieties to rest.

Own it Fitness is a really special and unique place to workout. I've been training there for a year which is the longest I've ever stuck to a fitness routine in my life, and that is due to the wonderful staff and in particular, my fantastic trainer Alberto. I cannot recommend Fabiola highly enough! At 63 years old, I had never exercised before and initially tried another gym but found it too generalized and the classes did not address my specific needs.

The team at Own It Fitness are fantastic. From Miguel who explained everything from the get go, to the trainers (Alberto, Fabiola and Mir) who ensured they balanced correct form and injury protection with pushing myself to improve my conditioning and giving me good workout routines to follow.

I would highly recommend them as they focus on overall health and mobility in a safe environment and focus on overall long term health, not just weight loss. Finally feeling like I’ve found the right place to not only lose the weight I’ve been trying to do for years but also reach my goal of increased strength and more energy. They listened to me explain what I wanted to accomplish and have set out an evolving plan to achieve that.

My trainer, Alberto, picks exercises each session to not only reach that goal but also changes it up so I don’t get bored and to work around an injury received before joining - basically encompassing my PT into the workout as well. If needed, he can change up the program depending on how I am feeling that day.

For accountability, something that I truly require, they use an app that tracks any exercises that I am supposed to do in between sessions as well as what I’m eating and if I’m going off course, they will discuss it with me, reminding me of the goal I wanted to achieve and how by following the plan will I be able to achieve it.

I worked with Fabiola for a few months and they are extremely flexible for working professionals who sometimes have last minute schedule changes. Highly recommend this place for anyone aiming to lose fat and get stronger safely and effectively!

I’ve been training with Miguel for over a month now and have seen amazing progress. My body fat dropped from 28% to 23.6%, and my lean body mass increased from 92.88 lbs to 100.01 lbs.

I started training at Own It Fitness October 2023. This is my first time doing any kind of organized training program. I signed up for their 30-day trial of semi-private training and my experience with them has been amazing! I’ve seen an improvement in my stamina and energy since then. I had issues with motivation before joining but now I’m ready to get my workouts in every week. So much so that I signed up for a longer term program.

My trainer Alberto holds me accountable, spends time answering questions I have and gives me lots of guidance when it comes to things I can do outside of my training sessions and with my nutrition. I started with Own It Fitness in August in their personal training program. When I first came in I wanted to lose 15 pounds in two weeks and the team worked with me to understand how the body works and how making sustainable goals would help me achieve longer lasting results. Since joining my body fat has dropped and I have more steady energy throughout the week and I don’t feel exhausted by the time the weekend comes. Before when I would hike it was difficult for me to finish the entire hike and make it to the end. Now I have more endurance and I feel confident I can complete a strenuous hike.

I travel a lot for my job and he sends me customized workouts while I am away to keep me on track to hit my goals. I’ve been training at Own It Fitness for a couple of years now. The place is always clean and tidy and the equipment is great. I feel like its a great place to work on my fitness goals. My main goal is to drop my belly and improve my bloodwork. I have a good relationship with Miguel who trained my wife and I, over Zoom, for a while and the workouts were great and my energy and body composition saw good improvements.

Since the studio space opened I’ve been doing personal training. Recently I’ve been working with Alberto and he really pushes me. I get great information on what I should do with my diet and I have a whole work up from them on guidelines and meal ideas. It’s really helpful. I started back in October at Own It Fitness in their Semi-Private training program. Originally my wife was only going to join but after hearing about the program, and what they do, I was interested in trying it out. This is the first time I’ve been involved in an organized exercise program so I didn’t know what it was going to be like. After being in the workouts for the last couple of months I can say that I’m really motivated to come and workout, which has never been the case. Now I feel good and energized where I used to feel really lazy and low energy. I have motivation to actually workout which has been great. I am really happy that my stomach inches are dropping and that I have the energy and stamina to get through the workouts even though they’re regularly getting more challenging.

My main trainer is Alberto and he really knows how to push me to challenge myself safely and I’m always confident he has my best interests and my goals in mind. He knows how to explain things so that I can understand and makes the workouts entertaining and fun! I recommend trying their Personal Training program if you want to learn how to do things right and really focus on hitting your goals of losing inches and getting stronger.

I joined Own it fitness since Oct 2023. Initially apprehensive about joining any program we came for the initial consultation and since then Miguel and his team have won our trust. The consultation is very personal where they try to understand about our needs and goals, fitness experience and diet. I was always a little unsure of how my relationship with my trainer would feel like and that is very important in showing for every workout. But Alberto, our trainer has been so good with the workouts and also to help us with every form and every single need. The nutrition and diet guidance aha been pretty good.

In two months I feel fresher, lighter more energetic and already leaner. Truly excited to come here for every session.

Let me start by saying that I don't write a lot of reviews. But Own It Fitness is a rare exception. I started here a month ago, and I have all good things to say.
I started looking at a few places for personal training but liked this the best. That is because Miguel and Taylor answered every concern I had and talked about my goals and health issues that I wanted to tackle by exercising in detail. While other places were trying to sell/force their programs on me (I still get sales calls from them every week), Miguel and his team never pestered me for my decision.
I've been working with Alberto over the last month and love his training style. He identified areas where I needed work based on an assessment and has been working with me to improve them every week. He helped me with a nutrition plan as well. Overall, he's really fun to work with. I have started lifting more weight and already lost a little weight since I joined Own It.
The place is cozy which is the best part as the training feels more personal and everybody is approachable.
Would highly recommend checking them out if you are looking at personal/semi private training.

Fabiola and Miguel have been patient with me as I rebuild my motivation to workout again since the lockdowns. Fabiola personalizes a workout schedule based on my schedule in person and on my personal training off days. They will followup with you by email and text to make sure you have done your cardio on your personal training days off. The first month with Fabiola I lost 8 pounds!

You can sign up for 2, 3, and 4 times a week. I personally signed up for the 3 times a week and I feel great!

This is a great place if you have slacked off with your workout schedule, need a refresher, and need motivation! They really are here to help you reach your fitness goals and to feel better about yourself.

My trainer Miguel has created a specialized program for me so each workout is specifically targeting my goals of increasing my strength and losing my gut! With the right support from the team I’ve started meal prepping and being more conscious about what I’m putting into my body. I have been a Member at this gym for several months now. I highly recommend them, for many reasons, among them:
1) They create a personalized fitness plan that is specific to you. Using available apps, they help you track calories and meals, and can craft at home workouts for the days you are not in the gym with them. This is particularly important if, like me, you are a poor eater and need a method to track calories, and to have your trainer check in on that progress as well, as they do.
2) My trainer is Fabiola. She is good at making sure that I stretch and that I am properly warm before we begin training, which is important for me since I have pre-existing back and knee injuries. She incorporates my fitness and weight goals into the training program as well.

I would highly recommend Own It Fitness to anyone looking for a small gym which provides personalized training, and assistance with nutrition. They are excellent.

Miguel, from Own It Fitness, is super knowledgeable and makes sure to explain each workout and how to do it with proper form. I had a previous bicep tendon disorder that didn't allow me to move my arm past 90 degrees. In just under 3 months, I am now able to move my arm a full 180 degrees! Miguel listened to my specific needs and helped me gain muscle and strength in my shoulder area and I can now move it with no pain.

From day 1 Miguel crafted a personalized workout based not only on my physical goals, but also based on how my body reacted to the regimen.
