Love this place! Been training here for 6 months but been training over 20+ years all over the world. Trainers are super knowledgeable and fun and I still learn new things everyday here. Becoming my ohana. 🥰 Mahalo, Pacific Roots, for providing such a friendly, laid-back, yet technical and fun atmosphere.

Been coming to this gym for ~6 months and I love it. The coaches are excellent. It's a welcoming community for beginners, but the gym also trains at a high level and pushes everyone to get better. The competition team and fighters are also very active, and the gym participates in and hosts local events. It's a great place to train!

If you’re looking for an amazing, welcoming Muay Thai community, Pacific Roots is your place! After coming back from a trip to Thailand, I wanted a more traditional-style gym that emphasized Muay Thai values and culture. I tried out Pacific Roots, and from the very first day, I’ve felt at home. I’ve grown so much as a fighter since joining; the coaching, classes, and people are all top tier. I’m forever grateful for my Pacific Roots family. Whether you’re just starting out or have been fighting for years, you have to check this gym out!

This is hands down the best Muay Thai gym in San Diego.

Whether you’re brand new or a seasoned fighter, Pacific Roots is perfect for all levels. The coaches are super knowledgeable and each have their own style, so you’re always picking up something new. Everyone here is welcoming, supportive, and genuinely loves training.

You’ll learn every part of Muay Thai, from solid fundamentals to advanced fight techniques, in an environment that pushes you to grow while keeping it fun. I’ve been a member for almost 4 years and can’t imagine going anywhere else!

I joined Pacific Roots Muay Thai in an effort to deepen my knowledge of Muay Thai, with the intent also of potentially competing. While I have achieved both of those goals, what has been more impressive is the atmosphere and culture that the coaches have created. There is ZERO attitude, all are welcome (regardless of skill level) and everyone is given special attention in both their goals (short and long term) but also in their day-to-day development. The coaching staff at Pacific Roots is attentive to everyone, each class all the time. They don't just show a technique, but they ensure that EVERYONE is doing it correctly, give constructive feedback in the moment and pay close attention to the proper execution of the art of Muay Thai.

If you want to get in shape; join Pacific Roots. If you want to learn ALL aspects of Muay Thai; join Pacific Roots. If you want to someday compete in Muay Thai; join Pacific Roots. This is, hands down, the best Muay Thai gym I have ever set foot in, and I will continue to be there until my body tells me I cannot.

I joined Pacific Roots 5 months ago. So far it has been an awesome experience. I had minimal fighting training before but didnt feel overwhelmed when I first started. The coaches are friendly, patient, and encouraging. All members that I've trained with are great. The gym vibe is welcoming and motivating. Probably the best place to learn how to fight, get fit, and make friends at the same time. The training area is big enough for a big training group. The facilities are well-maintained. The weight-lifting area is not as big but has everything you need to build strength. One the best things about Pacific Roots is there are plenty of training sessions throughout the day and you can join whichever fits your schedule the best.

Pacific Roots Muay Thai is honestly such a great gym. The coaches and the community here are what make it special. Everyone is super knowledgeable, kind, and welcoming, which makes it an awesome place whether you’re just starting out, a more experienced fighter, or somewhere in the middle.

Seeing how dedicated and passionate everyone is at this gym is really inspiring. Plus, they take hygiene and safety seriously, which I really appreciate. People make sure to wipe down the equipment with disinfectant, and the space is always clean.

If you’re looking for a place to learn, train, and be around amazing people who love the sport, this is it

I joined Pacific Roots about two years ago and have had the privilege of training with Kru Shuan and the other instructors at this gym. There are a lot of great people practicing here and the camaraderie between them fosters an effective training process with the results speaking for themselves in the number of victories in the competitions participated in. The instructors all bring a great depth of knowledge to the table covering the expanse of Muay Thai from the kickboxing aspect to the clinch. Excellent place to learn the art from great teachers.

I have moved around a lot in the past decade so I have tried a lot of different combat sport gyms across the country and can confidently say that Pacific Roots offers comprehensive high quality Muay Thai instruction and training for all ages and ability levels regardless of what your goals are. There are folks looking to get a full-body workout while learning striking to those training for championship bouts. There are lots of opportunities for those looking to compete with an active competition team that participate in developmental point sparring, amateur fights and national tournaments. All the coaches are very knowledgeable and provide valuable feedback in classes. There is a very strong sense of community and everyone is supportive of one another.

While there are many gyms in San Diego that have the capability to teach Muay Thai, I have never found a gym with the perfect blend of high level coaching, a friendly environment and a healthy competiton team. The training here will always push you and there is an emphasis on constant improvement. Coaches are attentive throughout classes and great at sharing their knowledge. They are all very generous with their time and have always been happy to explain, or dissect various techniques to give people a proper or better understanding.

Beyond the excellent instruction, the culture of this gym is very communal. People all feel very connected and open to meeting each other. I am always in a much better place after training here, and have always felt very welcomed. I feel very lucky to train here and be a part of this community.

The kid's class at Pacific Roots is the best I've seen in San Diego. I was super impressed with the interactions Coach Rachel and Coach Alex have had with my son. They are patient, kind, and great at reinforcing expectations and drills. The class sizes aren't too big either, so kids will often get a fair share of attention from the coaches. Definitely check out this gym and enroll your kids before their class sizes start to boom!

Without a doubt the best Muay Thai training in the area! I was travelling back and forth to San Diego for work and needed to find a spot to continue on my Muay Thai journey. I researched a couple of locations but Pacific roots is truly second to none. I took privates as my timelines for travel were short trips and Kru Shaun did not disappoint! He truly overviews your skill levels and builds on top of your experience. He is a technical expert and a trained instructor. He knows how to teach and understands his students learning abilities and focuses on what you need to improve your technique. His breakdown, explanation, and scenario situations helped me immensely improve on each session. Every time I train I always remember all the fundamentals of positioning and pinpoint structure on improving my skills that he taught me. Very friendly, amazing atmosphere, and the best culture at this gym. If you’re in town for a bit or looking for a Muay Thai gym in San Diego this place is it!

Been training with Pacific Roots Muay Thai since it was with Alliance Jiu Jitsu. Coach Shaun opened up his own gym about a year ago and I couldn’t be happier training there. I came from a different gym where I felt I was burning out and plateauing. Coaches Shaun, Rachel, and Adrian have really leveled me up and created an environment that encourages learning, training technique, and fun! I feel like we are all a family and enjoy training there 4-6x per week. I always leave feeling amazing and better each day. They have classes for beginners and for more experienced fighters who are looking to compete. Shaun helped train me with 1-1 sessions leading up to my first exhibition fight and helped prepare me to be successful! It was awesome. Highly recommend to any fighter or anyone who simply wants to get in shape, while learning self defense and also having fun 🤙

I have practiced with Pacific Roots before they've opened up their current location at Sorrento Valley. Pacific Roots Muay Thai is a wonderful place, run by incredible people! Whether your goal is weight loss, training for a fight, or just learning a new combative, Pacific Roots has what you need! Their schedule is dynamic and fun, their coaching staff are incredibly welcoming and understanding! The people who train there become family. I walked in having no Muay Thai experience whatsoever, and apprehensive about fitting in, but from the moment I walked in I was taken in and treated with kindness and respect! I walked in at 215lbs, and wanting to lose weight and learn something new, I am now 199lbs, for the first time in years, and have built more confidence! I attribute it all to the motivation instilled in me by my PacRoots family! If you're in the San Diego area, and wanting to learn Muay Thai, lose weight, or just train, Pacific Roots Muay Thai is the place to go!

This is a great Muay Thai program , Coach Sean is literally one of the best in the industry running a strong youth competition team . My son has been training for about 5 years with a first season of training in Thailand in 2019 and we are very happy to be with Pacific Roots , great place to Learn the Martial Arts or evening better if you have Competition goals . The program runs every day of the week for a full hr. which makes it a lot better than most places which do only 2 or 3 times with 45 min sessions , just to add the cherry on top Pacific Roots shares the roof with the world famous Brazilian Jiujitsu team Alliance so it’s a great opportunity for students to run back to back sessions from 4-5 Muay Thai and 5-6 BJJ . All can be bundled on a monthly price which is very competitive with other places which much less training and not a great level of instructors . The area is great for access too
