I have had the pleasure of working with three coaches at Palo Alto Fit in the past two months: Nathan, Hailey and Joe. When I started I had not been in a gym for almost six years since my son was born. I tried to get back to the gym on my own but frankly I didn't know where to start! All the things I used to do would injure me so clearly I needed help. Working with Nathan, Hailey and Joe has changed the quality of my life immensely. Not only I feel much stronger, but also I sleep much better and can manage stress much more efficiently. The most interesting part for me though is I actually enjoy the workouts themselves a lot too! Each coach brings their own energy, style and expertise, and all of them are really fun. I do not feel sore or drained afterwards. Surprisingly, I have even more energy throughout the day. I have to also add, Nina, the founder is really nice. She has built this incredible place that anyone can walk in regardless of their age, gender or level, and feel completely at home. It is an incredible place, if I could give it more that five stars I absolutely would :-)

Supportive, Skilled Trainers — I’ve Made Real Progress!

I’ve been training at Palo Alto Fit for 6 months now, and I can’t say enough good things about this place. When I started, I hadn’t worked out consistently in over 10 years. I had very little strength and limited endurance — but that changed quickly with the help of two amazing trainers: Aaron Limcuando and Hailey.

Aaron is kind, patient, and incredibly encouraging. He met me where I was and helped me build strength and confidence week by week. He also gives me helpful nutrition advice that’s realistic and easy to follow, which has made a big difference in my overall progress. Now, I feel so much stronger and more capable.

Hailey brings great energy and consistently pushes me in the best way. She sets goals that are challenging but achievable, and she truly believes in my ability to grow and improve — which has been so motivating.

I can’t say enough about my trainers at Palo Alto Fit, Nathan and Ale! I’m beyond happy with my results. I joined PA Fit at age 64, in poor-to-fair shape, with racket sports and long hikes out of the question. After three months of twice-weekly sessions, I have just planned a weeklong hiking trip and am getting back into tennis. I do much more around the house and garden. It has made such a difference.

I tried many of the online training programs that sprang up after Covid, but I didn’t have the expertise and always overdid it. Constant injury. With Nathan and Ale, my workouts are actually more demanding, but they are spaced out, varied, planned in advance, and targeted to me. Plus I enjoy these two young people so much. I have put myself in their hands and just feel so much better. The beautiful new Palo Alto Fit facility is immaculate, parking is easy, and the staff is courteous to a fault. Thank you, PA Fit!

I’ve been working out with Joe Garcia since July 2023 as part of a buddy class. We have a blast and get stronger every week. Joe is great about designing workouts and explaining how to do the exercises correctly. Then this year we also started working out with Nathan Tamayo who is also amazing. He always keeps it fun and is highly responsive in terms of designing workouts targeted to what we want to work on. Nathan is also famous for “stealth” workouts that are harder than they seem. So fun and yet really strengthening. Highly recommend!

My fitness journey began exactly a year ago with 1–2 personal training sessions per week at Palo Alto Fit. Big shout out to my trainers Alyana, Aulani, Jacob, and Charlie—and to everyone who subbed in along the way! They've been amazing coaches: dedicated, encouraging, and truly invested in their clients’ progress.

My initial goal was simple: to feel stronger. A year later, I'm happy to say I've achieved that and more. I notice the difference in various activities, from standing up straighter to easily carrying heavy luggage up and down stairs. I've even gained healthy weight, including over 3 pounds of skeletal muscle.

The facility is super welcoming, and it's been motivating to see people of all ages giving their best effort. Palo Alto Fit has provided me with a strong foundation; I now feel comfortable working out at any gym.

I can't say enough about the staff—they're superb.They're skilled at meeting you where you are while still pushing you to improve. A tip for new clients: don't hesitate to give your trainer feedback (if an exercise feels too easy, too hard, or just not your style). They're incredibly accommodating and will always find the best option for you.

I feel stronger, healthier, and more confident because of Palo Alto Fit. As Nina said, "There is no price tag on your health and well being." I would encourage everyone to get your health journey started today!

I started coming to Palo Alto Fit a couple of months ago with some weight loss goals in mind, and I can honestly say the experience has been life-changing. I primarily work with Kirby, Nathan, and Hailey, and all three have been phenomenal trainers.

Since starting, I’ve noticed major improvements, not just physically, but in my energy, sleep, and overall well-being. I have been training at Palo Alto Fit since April 2025 and I am seeing #gainz! In my case, I have a hip injury and am actively prehabbing for a total hip replacement in September. My trainers, Isaac and Charlie, have thoughtfully designed workouts for me to prepare for surgery and made coming to the gym super fun! Believe me when I say: I came into this gym limping and after a solid few months, I feel so much stronger than when I first came in! Two Months at Palo Alto Fit — and I’m Feeling Stronger Than Ever!

After taking a two-year break from working out, I signed up for a two-month personal training program at Palo Alto Fit, and honestly, it was one of the best decisions I’ve made. From day one, Nina made the whole experience super welcoming and personalized. The gym itself is really clean, organized, and never feels overcrowded — no waiting around for machines or equipment, which makes a huge difference.

I trained with Erik and Nathan, and they’re both incredible. They customized every workout to fit my goals, taught proper form to avoid injuries, and kept things challenging but really fun at the same time. Every session pushed me hard — but the conversations and energy made the hour fly by. It was always afterward when the soreness and fatigue hit me!

Erik’s leg and push sessions are straight-up savage (in a good way). Exactly what I needed for building strength and muscle. He keeps you on your toes, pushes you past your limits, and just when you think you’re done, he adds some crazy finishers! Plus, he checked in with me during the week to help with diet and cardio, which kept me extra motivated.

Nathan is ridiculously creative when it comes to workouts. He’s amazing at coming up with new ways to work different muscles using the same equipment — every session felt fresh and different. And his stretching routines at the end? Absolute game-changer. I seriously looked forward to them every time.

If you’re looking for a gym that actually cares about you and knows how to push you (in the best way possible), I can’t recommend Palo Alto Fit enough. Wish I had found them sooner!

I have been working out at Palo Alto Fit (open gym) for a little over a month and it is one of the most professionally run fitness facilities I have ever visited. The gym is primarily used for personal training, but I use open gym to do functional fitness on my own. When I first joined, I was worried about standing out too much with my (sometimes intense) programming that often takes hours for me to complete. However, Nina assured me that I could comfortably work out alongside the personal training that takes place and she was right. The personal trainers and their clients have been welcoming and respectful, and I have had a great experience working out alongside them.

I can also tell that all of the trainers sincerely care about their clients and give 100% to their training. I have been very impressed by how the gym runs. I would strongly recommend the facility to anyone looking for personalized help in their fitness journey or to anyone looking for a functional fitness space to work out in on their own. There is a wide variety of equipment to use and all of it is in fantastic condition. I am super grateful for Nina and the Palo Alto Fit team for welcoming me into their space.

Ale constantly observes my form during my workout and gives me timely feedback to adjust my form and movement. She effectively helped me build up muscle groups that need strengthening, while protecting the overused areas in my body (inflammation prevention for my shoulders, back etc). She also connects workout with human body anatomy very well. I learned so much from her and can now incorporate the exercises correctly into my personal workout and understand the why. Zade usually focuses on full body workouts with me, while Aaron focuses on isolation of certain muscle groups when working with me. They change exercise programs about every 4 weeks to keep me challenged. I lost my Personal Trainer, Aaron L. to another gym. While I’m happy for him, I do miss him. He’s an excellent trainer. Before starting my training we talked about my goals and areas that I had issues with (particularly the arthritis and torn meniscus in one knee, and lower back tightness/soreness). Keeping these things in mind, he tailored my training to help these things as well as my safety while doing all the exercises. Through the leg workouts, I was able to actually sit on my knee without any support which I’m rarely able to do 😊. The other exercises we did also helped strengthen my back, what a relief. Aaron, is very professional as well as personable. He’s attentive, knowledgeable, and always keeps safety in the forefront. I signed up in July as a graduation gift for myself and have been visiting the place almost everyday! Nina is an amazing nutritionist, she designed a good diet catering my Asian appetite. I have three coaches (Corey, Joe and Clyndel) and I love all of them! They pay a lot of attention to details, and keep pushing me throughout the session at a good pace. The level of individual attention that Nina pays to each and every client is nothing short of incredible. No matter the day or time she is always available to address client's needs. Then covid hit and that really put a damper on my fitness goals, basically reset all the work that I have done before. After the covid lockdown I decided to start again from scratch, this time focussing more on resistance training and I was assigned Corey as the trainer. We started with the basics and he was really patient with me. He is an awesome individual and is really great at what he does. He really pays attention to the details and corrects every little misstep I make. Together, they helped me not just get back to my pre covid body but feel stronger than I’ve ever felt before. I have been working out at Palo Alto Fit and with Rafa for several years now. Before finding PAFit I struggled with my weight. I tried a lot of different diets and had many gym memberships, trying to do things on my own. It wasn't until I found my way to PAFit that I understood the importance of strength training. It's truly a game changer. It's been an amazing journey, from the first workouts, where getting up off the floor was my biggest hurdle to now working with weights and really pushing myself mentally and physically. I love this place and during COVID I have felt very safe with outdoor workouts that have been every bit as good as the indoor ones. They bring a bunch of equipment out and there's a tent for sun/wind protection so it's a very nice setup. I usually work with the same trainer but I appreciate how easy it is to switch if I wanted to or needed to because of my schedule. I also want to note that it's very classy and they don't hound you like other gyms/trainers I've worked with before- in fact at one point I took several months off between packages and they totally respected my decision and never once pushed me about it.

Nina and her amazing team at Palo Alto Fit are simply awesome. In these difficult times, spending time at their amazing facilities in Palo Alto is such a welcome respite from the relentless grind of fulltime work from home. Nina brings an empathy and a sense of humor, mixed with discipline and a focus on outcomes, to her work; pushing you hard when you need it, easing up and entertaining you and making you laugh when appropriate. I first met Nina in April 2020; due to constant snacking I had swelled to 191 lbs. standing 5'11" tall - she suggested I measure PBF (percent body fat) and I politely declined as I knew it was 25%+. I dedicated myself to her plan; I routinely did my homework, with praise from her when I did, and a sharp rebuke when I did not. She pushed me close to my limits without every going too far, ensuring nothing on my 55 year old body broke. The change has been nothing short of breathtaking. Today I tip the scale at 165 lbs. with a PBF of 10%. I feel well, full of energy, able to work hard, exercise hard and spend quality time with my family. At my age I was rapidly approaching a point of no return. I literally owe my new body, my new life, and the next three decades of my energetic, healthy and high quality future to Nina, a debt I fear I will never be able to repay. I started working out at PA Fit just over a year ago and it's been a great experience across the board.  I wish I had found them sooner!  I've lost weight and, more importantly, feel strong.  I work regularly with Rafa and Julia.  Each has his/her own style, but both are invested in my progress.  They are focused for the duration of the session.  Workouts are personalized and varied, so I don't get bored.  Both trainers are knowledgeable and adjust the exercises as needed to accommodate the limitations of my middle-aging body.  They are professionals in all respects.  They are also great people.  They even managed to design thorough workouts over Zoom using just some basic gear in my garage.  Thank you both!!!  Nina (the owner) knows everyone by name and always has kind words to say.  This is *not* an intimidating place where all clients are under the age of 25 and svelte.  The studio is clean, bright, with plenty of room.

I really look forward to my training sessions, and I never thought that I would say that about any trip to the gym. They are both extremely knowledgeable as well as kind, supportive, and engaging! They know how to push their clients to succeed. The workouts change every session, and the variety of exercises keeps the sessions interesting and creates improved strength in all muscle groups.

The gym is private and quiet, with a wide variety of equipment for clients at any skill level and with any set of goals. PA Fit offers individual sessions, partner/small group sessions, and a few classes. Nina truly cares about her business and knows what she is doing! She focuses on the details, knows every client by name, and is encouraging and supportive.

Joining PA Fit doesn't just mean having a few training sessions, it means changing your lifestyle. Check out this gym; you will be happy that you did! The only downside is that, once I move out of the Bay Area, I am not sure I will ever be able to find a better gym!

It's tough to explain how much I love Palo Alto Fit and my trainer Julia Pangalangan without sounding too much like an ad, but my experience has been that positive. I found Palo Alto Fit about a year ago after searching for a well-reviewed boutique gym where I would have the ability to make the personal connections I knew I would need to stay motivated and committed. I found that personal connection immediately with Julia, and I can honestly say that she has been every bit as invested in my fitness journey as I have been. I've been going to Palo Alto Fit for several years now and love the entire organization - from the owner to the trainers to the beautiful new facility itself. They are always purchasing the latest exercise equipment. It seems every time I walk in, there is something new. Every trainer has a specialty, and most people have workouts during the week with multiple trainers.

I mainly work on strength training (with a little cardio mixed in) as this is something I can't really do at home. I really enjoy working with Rafa. Without fail, he sends me my workout plan the night before. During my workout, he always demonstrates the proper technique for every exercise and is constantly correcting my form to avoid injury. In addition to being a great guy, he is also easy to work with, accommodating my requests and schedule changes.

Lastly, the results speak for themselves. I know that I am much more fit, and stronger than I would be if I did not join this gym. Other than playing golf, I would not have the motivation to exercise on my own, and if I did, would not exercise with the intensity level that I would with Rafa supervising me! Not to mention the distance improvement is has given me on the golf course.

Nina and her staff are beyond amazing!! I truly can not give high enough praises to Palo Alto Fit. As a recently retired elite athlete of many years, I came to PA Fit with a slew of recovering injuries, post injury fat, back pain, and muscle tightness. I noticed a huge improvement after training for only a few weeks with Nina, seeing Byron for muscle activation/recovery, and participating in the Sunday yoga class. These improvements were far beyond anything I experienced in my Olympic gym back home, my Division 1 team, or working with any other trainer in my time as an athlete. Not only did I loose a significant amount of body fat and gain an overall balanced body tone, but I was able to regain my pain-free and active life. Nina and her staff not only taught me how to train healthily and effectively as a non-elite athlete, but also how to love working out again. The Sunday meditation/yoga class taught by Dr. Clifton is one of the largest highlights of my week. He is (as the rest of the PA Fit staff) the best yoga instructor that I have had the pleasure of learning from in my career. In addition to working out, Nina worked with me every week to assist in selecting the best foods to fuel my individual body. It is evident that she cares immensely about each of her clients. The gym itself is immaculate- the equipment is state of the art, there is a ton of natural light, and the shower/changing rooms are impressively stocked and kept up with. Anyone and everyone would benefit by training at Palo Alto Fit. I have loved every minute of training here, and can not wait to come train here again when I return to the bay next summer!

Nina has been amazing! My sister and I train twice a week and we love the days when we go to our workouts. It's really fun and Nina is very supportive. She gives us tips on when and how to exercise outside of our sessions and gives us ideas on what and when to eat so that we can stay on track for our goals. This is a great place for people--teenagers and younger kinds as well--to go, especially for those who need a flexible workout schedule. Scheduling can be pretty tricky when you're in school or at work full time, but Nina has worked with us to make sure that we get our workout in at least two times a week. If you're looking for a place to help you reach your goal of getting in better shape, I would definitely recommend going to Palo Alto Fit.

I was out from the gym for 2.5 months, recovering from a surgery, when I met Nina. I was looking for a trainer that could help me get leaner and tone up my body back to my pre-surgery condition. I wanted a trainer that could be my mentor, my coach in leading a healthy life style inside/outside the gym. I was amazed when I found Nina online. Her extensive experience and certification as personal trainer at Stanford, Nutritionist, ex Olympian, Surfer, Yoga Instructor, Miss Fitness Asia, and Wellness Coach really impressed me. I felt that she was the One Trainer/Coach I have been looking for all my life! When I reached out to her, she took her time to understand my goals, my life style, and my background to fully understand how she could help me improve my overall well being. The rest is history! Within 8 weeks, I could see steady and consistent progress with not only my body but also my life style. I began to look leaner and toner, eat healthier, better energy and overall happier person. Nina is not only my trainer now but also a Wellness Coach, a Friend, and a Mentor. I am always excited to train with her even though that means having to get up as early as 5 a.m.. She motivated me to reach my goals. I never felt my 1 hour session with her was work. She tailored each session to my needs/goals. She also pays very close attention to details, making sure my forms are correct to prevent injuries. This is a follow up review . It's been 6 months that I have been training with Nina. My weight was never consistent until now. I become leaner during the past 6 months and weight never fluctuates. No more yo yo dieting. Nina guides me on how to eat nutritious food without dieting or preventing me from eating food that I like. She also had taught me how to train with body weights (instead of always relying on weight machines at the gym), which is very useful for my upcoming vacation. Exercise doesn't always have to happen at the gym! Nina adjusts my training from time to time depending on my progress. Her sports medicine background also helped pointed out that I needed a massage therapy to increase flexibility and relax tension on my muscles due to long hours of sitting from work. Nina is always fun to work with. She is a Coach and Mentor who will teach you how to have a sustainable healthy life style. Strongly recommend Nina and Palo Alto Fit! My 2 favorites! I have never been healthier and happier ;)
