Tim is an incredible person and teacher. I look forward to our training sessions every week. He has helped me rehab from multiple injuries while sharing his deep knowledge of martial arts. Tim creates a safe, inclusive and judgement free space for all levels. His unique martial arts style is practical and effective and has helped me bring my mind and body together, give me confidence and even mobility I thought I lost.

I've been training with sifu Tim for around 5 years now, and he has greatly helped me to learn more about my body, its mechanics and weaknesses. We've worked together on several aspects of fitness including rebalancing movement, working on smaller accessory muscles to gaining raw strength.

Tim is very versatile, and tackles fitness issues by first principles. He will figure out what small muscle needs to be worked on whats tight, include aspects from martial arts, to calisthenics and come up with a training regimen to fix those.
He has also helped me regain strength and balance through several injuries.

Overall, his enthusiasm for fitness is infectious, and i've been coming back every week for quite some time. Would recommend Tim for being a partner in your fitness journey.

Tim Richards is the real deal! A modern day Bruce Lee. The knowledge he has in self defense, sports, and exercise will blow you way! His ability to teach any level of physical ability is second to none. His knowledge of self defense is only second to Sifu Professor Hundon. If you have the pleasure to train with him bring your A game!

I always had an inkling that there was something important to be found in the martial arts, but the “dojos” I spent time in all seemed to focus on lifeless forms and obtaining darker belts.  Training with Tim has been a much more fulfilling experience.  With each lesson, you get to apply what you learned in a sparring session which makes the techniques much more valuable.  You won't break any boards with Tim, but you will develop instincts about what to do if you are ever confronted on the streets.

I cannot recommend Peace of Mind and Tim Richard enough. I came to Peace of Mind 8 years ago for self defense and JKD training. However, I have also seen people also come with physical fitness goals (ranging from a focus on weight loss to athleticism). Tim is also great for training with an injury that requires sensitivity and/or rehab, a lot of students have knee/back/shoulder issues.

Over time, I have found that the ideal way to work with Tim is a whole body approach. He will definitely tailor a plan specific to you that could include self defense, diet and outside of the studio advice, fitness, tai chi, really anything to make you more well rounded.

Throughout all of this, Tim is super attentive with a great energy. Once again, 100% recommend.

Tim is an amazing instructor and person. I was training with him for 3 months whilst living in San Francisco and now have knowledge that will last a life time. Tim is a passionate person and his positive energy rubs off on you. He's knowledge about martial arts as a whole is incredible and eye opening. This type of instructor makes you want to go back and keep pushing yourself to develop your skills! He is also very accommodating as I am dealing with long lasting post concussion symptoms, he was very aware and careful of my situation. He gave his opinion on ways to overcome my injury through aspects like breathing and Qigong which I know practice on my own. I have much love for Tim and what his doing with Peace of Mind.

I started to train in Jeet Kune Do with Tim only 2 months ago, and I already see progress.

He's been teaching me how to stay calm in any situation, to be in control of my overreactive nature and temper. Concerning the technical aspect, he always stresses the importance of rhythm, foot work, movement and distance, to be able to blend and adapt.

I really like his approach and how he incorporates different elements from other styles, such as Ju Trap Boxing, of which he's a certified instructor. On this matter, thanks to him I could perform trapping and leverage effectively, something I'd never been good at.

He noticed my previous experiences with Shaolin and Wing Chun by briefly watching my moves, and has been teaching me how to add what I had learnt before, which is one of the main principles of Jeet Kune Do.

With Tim, I found a very knowledgeable and reliable Sifu, and a very good person. I'm happy of my choice.

I walked by with my dog today. He decided to poop right in front of this establishment. I realized that my doggie bag role was empty. I saw the middle plastic bag role was there and assumed I had a bag before I left the apartment. The manager walked out to provide me a bag when he realized I was out, much to my appreciation. Very nice gentleman, glad to have this business a block from where I live.

I’ve been training with Tim Richards for slightly over two years and I really enjoy the time that I spend at Tim’s studio. Tim takes a personal interest in his students and really wants to see you develop the skills that he is teaching you correctly.
He is a bit of a perfectionist, which can be frustrating at times, but he’s patient will take the extra time to make sure you get it right.
In addition, Tim is also active in the martial arts community and passes the lessons that he learns on to you, so your sessions are constantly evolving and growing.
It’s a very unique experience and I feel fortunate to take part in it. My only regret is that I didn’t learn about Peace of Mind earlier.

By coming to the Peace of mind I became a part of community where people stay happy with their body and mind. Tim’s knowledges about body and martial arts are impressive! I’m Enjoying every class, met interesting talented people. Here I’m learning self defence with Tim and doing athletic workouts with John. Most important for me that I’m learning how to keep my body and mind healthy and happy. Thank you!

I started training with Tim in 2015, as a past triathlete and endurance cyclist, I was having a lot of pain in my shoulders and hips and wanted to go a new direction with my training.

My experiences are anchored around a repeating Tuesday night 6-7pm fitness session and 7-9pm martial arts session, and yes, literally I' approaching 3 yrs of this weekly, awesome workout. Tim has helped me strengthen my back, improve posture, and increase hip mobility. I've also learned a ton of useful self defense including western boxing, stick and knife fighting, wing chun, jeet kune do and all kinds of other stuff.

Generally speaking Tim is one of the most creative, thorough and generally knowledgeable trainers that I know.

Working out here with Mackenzi for 5 months. Got rid of upper back pain, got nice core, built strong legs and arms. Come to dojo once a week and work out at home for 20min almost every day. Results are impressive

Run by Tim Richards, this is a small, friendly personal training gym and martial arts academy. I have been taking personal training and boxing sessions weekly with Tim for over a year focusing on Jeet Kune Do, Wing Chun, Kali, Western Boxing and Savate Boxing. Tim is patient, meticulous in his teaching and very passionate about his martial arts. I generally get bored of working out in the gym easily but look forward to every session with Tim and particularly enjoy the sparring. My body and mind also feels better because of our workouts. Unconditionally recommended.
