We had a great experience with one teacher, and initially a very poor one with another instructor prior who barely taught my son anything other than to throw a toy around for a month. We finally realized it was a poor fit after we had a couple substitutes and my son loved them, and after I literally watched and screamed a the instructor to do something as he watched my son sank / struggle in the water.
Our current instructor is wonderful and patient, so she gets 5 stars. Front desk is great too.
Beware a couple neighbors in the area, especially the ones towards the further end of the block β with one woman who gets very upset and will verbally harass you if youβre park legally (not on red, etc) but βtoo closeβ to any driveway even if itβs not her own.

Can I just say the pool and the water are the perfect temperature for learning to swim. Sadly I cannot say that our kid's teacher was so great. We will not return to this swim school purely because the teacher packed empathy and warmth. She was polite enough but somehow there was something about our child she didn't like. Our child was the only one she didn't smile at, she gave zero feedback and zero words of encouragement. Everytime my child came in the water she ignored him no hi or hello. At the end of the session she played with all the other children in the group but not ours. And I thought that I imagined it at first my my husband on a separate occasion noticed the exact same thing. It's a shame because our son put his teacher on the pedestal, isn't a shame she didn't see value in him.

Terrible lousy place! The pool is overcrowded, place is poorly managed, no parking slots, inexperienced and at times rude staff

Stay away!!
We had a terrible experience with teacher Leola. In a one on one class one week, for which we were charged $35, she took our kid and made her cry the whole time. Told us she doesn't mind kids crying. Our daughter had a terrible first time experience.
They told us to come back the next week to a more experienced teacher, Gabby, and charged us $35 dollars again. They told us it would be a semi-private class again, but when we got there it was a group class. The teacher didn't have much time to connect with our kid, and our kid was still scared from the previous session with Leola. She didn't even go in the water and we came back after 10 minutes of watching other kids swim.
They wouldn't give us our money back even though they admitted they had overcharged us for a semi private class. After talking to them for 10 minutes, they handed us $15 in cash.
Terrible terrible first time experience for our kid, and lack of common sense and respect from Leola and the receptionist. They are just interested in money and not your kid's experience.

Our best experience so far. The teachers are seriously persistent and patient with kids. Especially We are so lucky to have Ms Melanie as our daughter's swimming instructor.

Changing rooms are filthy, floor is dirty and there are flies everywhere as windows do not open. We like our teacher so we go here but dress in the car to avoid the horrible facilities.

My son went here w hen he was 2 years old in 1996, all the way until he decided he wanted to be on a swim team at age 7. His swim instructor helped him prepare for tryouts. The teachers he had were wonderful. He's had a few over the years because of my work hours. My son is 21 now & a great swimmer still & loves to swim. He remembers his days at swim school with a smile. I'm also a nanny who has recommended the swim school to family's I've worked with & currently working with a family that that have their twin boys at the swim school. The boys have been going there for almost 2 years, and they are excited to go there.
If you want a swim school that focuses on gett8ng your child, learn to swim & save their lives. This is it!

My son took lessons at La Petite Baleen and British Swim School before going to Peninsula. Peninsula is much better in my opinion - they are very focused on getting kids to swim and working at each kids level (rather than having them do the same drills that everyone else in the class does). I'm so proud of my son, cause at 3 years old he could swim across the pool without assistance and can make it to the edge if he falls in.

Really great swimming school! Very much a family feel, and they do a really good job with the little ones. My 3 year old son learns more every week, and he loves seeing his swimming teacher every time. Also a big plus that they give ribbons when the kiddos achieve a new swimming skill, and they give them a little candy treat at the end of each swimming class. All in all, really great place!

Incredible staff and ownership. Your kids will love the instructors. The pool is in a tent and decorated with all manner of fun animal inflatables for the kids. Tent means ample air flow and parent seating is now safety separated and close enough to the pool to get a great view of the kiddos. The bagged gummy bear treat upon completion of a lesson delights children and parents.

We have been coming here for nearly a year and have had pretty mixed experiences.
The pros are a warm, semi-indoor pool and a kind teacher (Mariel) who was patient with our toddler.
The cons are frequent substitute teachers, often without any warning or call. In one situation, my daughter had 2-3 subs within one month and developed such a fear of swimming lessons that she was crying and screaming for 15-20m each 30m lesson (which took another month to get over after her regular teacher returned). Despite this experience, we received a sub today with no advance notice yet again (the teacher is on vacation, not sick).
Also the rescheduling policy is pretty inflexible. While the center often closes on holiday weekends it does so with little notice (maybe 1-2 weeks) yet won't allow rescheduling or missing of classes beyond once every 8-10 classes. In one case a front desk employee was able to put our package on hold so we wouldn't lose a lesson (alveit not promising to hold our lesson time) yet today a new front desk employee said that'd be impossible and we would need to pay a lesson penalty.
Our daughter has been a loyal student here for a year and disappointed at the inconsistency and lack of flexibility

Highly recommend for kids(toddlers).
tldr: my son took summer classes, instructors are very good with kids. Kids love them too. They have well defined trial and vacation policies that are reasonably flexible.
Today I observed great professionalism and ethics by the entire staff and instructor, hence want to share my positive experience.
My kid ween to his first group class today without , he was very scared in the water without someone holding him, I trusted their wisdom. (I am sure this situation is not uncommon)They asked me to stay out of my kid's sight and not worry. Some parents got agitated with some issues that I would rather not mention, do not want to offend them. They wanted my kid out of the group(because he was crying a lot), but staff nicely handled the situation, without agreeing to a knee jerk reaction. It is in moments like this you find out how mature a business/org's process is.

My 3 year old daughter has been swimming here for over a year, and I've been very happy with the experience. The teachers are all very engaging and attentive, and my daughter gets very excited when it's time to get in the pool.
Bonus points: it's half a block from Mo Music, so my daughter can have both a swimming lesson and a music lesson back to back!

This place is our families favorite place to bring out children, we been swimming with teacher Andrew for almost 7 years. We started when our older child was 12 weeks and never stoped. Tina make this place run like well oldie machine. Both kids are amazing now going to any vacation on the water is fun and relaxing thanks to this place!!! Even my husband took lesson with teacher Andrew to keep up with his kids that are truly enjoying coming here twice a week!

There's a lot to love about this place. The flexibility (in days and times available for lessons), the teachers, the front desk, the central location -- all great. Only thing to be improved is the locker room, but it's not too bad (I've seen worse in other swim schools in the area.) We'll definitely stay until my kids get fully capable of swimming.

Amazing staff. Stern and efficient. Just what my kids need! They always begin class right on time. My kids have learned so much in the 10 weeks they have been going. Mr. Mike is their instructor and he is GREAT!

My 13yo was very comfortable in the water and could tread and swim underwater, but had never learned the actual strokes. We signed her up at Peninsula Swim School and, at the end of 12 sessions, not only can she beautifully swim all four strokes, but she also dives and does flip turns. Her instructor, Maria, was excellent and we would highly recommend her. We couldn't be happier.

I had two swim schools closer to my house and I passed them up so our granddaughter could learn how to swim at a school I feel is the best in the Bay Area. I was impressed to find out they have been in business since 1968 teaching children how to swim. I also like the idea that the swim school is family owned and you actually get to meet the owners in the office if you have morning classes when you check in! The water is very warm which is super important for children and the inside of the dome is very kid friendly. The first thing our granddaughter was taught was how to survive if she falls in the water. They used techniques I had never seen before and was very impressed. The safety of our granddaughter is very important to us since the parents will be moving into a house with a swimming pool!
This school gets 5 stars from me!

My son has been coming here for years, starting at the baby level. They know when to push your kid to the next level and help you figure out the best instructor to suit your kid's personality (mine needed someone with a firmer touch).
Most of all we love their flexibility when you need to change your schedule for the week, your child becomes ill, etc. I know of no other school which is both so great and so user friendly.
