I took coach Dans class last week and it was electric! He kept the tempo up with quick effective workouts and great music. It was my first group fitness class of this style and Dan made sure I felt comfortable throughout the class by checking in on me and correcting my form as needed. I had no prior gym experience so Dynami was perfect for me to get started in weightlifting. Most big gyms expect you to come in whenever you want, which is never for me, so the regularly scheduled shared classes have been the best motivation for me to show up consistently. I've enjoyed working with Stephen but I've found all of the trainers to be friendly and knowledgable.

I've been working with Jacob Albritton, my personal trainer @ Dynami, for several years now. TLDR: 5 stars out of 5.

Jacob is fun to talk to and very enjoyable to be around. It feels like hanging out with a friend. The workouts are professionally designed and helped me achieve my health/fitness goals. I lead an extremely busy and full life with a lot of traveling. As such I greatly appreciate Jacob's flexibility to reschedule sessions as needed. I also really appreciate not having to plan the workout (because Jacob did), not having to set up the work out (because Jacob did), not having to think about what to do next (because I just do what Jacob tells me to), and not having to put away workout equipment. Other parts of my life require so much discipline and mental bandwidth, so it's a real help to be able to just show up, hand over responsibility at the door step, and follow instructions from someone highly professional and highly skilled. Jacob's an amazing personal trainer and a joy to be around.

Dynami is a cool new spot. If you know Perform for Life this is their newest project, and it’s been fun to see so far. Their shared personal training sessions are like if you took the group class vibe but with a lot more attention on you because they don’t have more than 4 people in a session at a time. This way you get all the attention and help of having your own personal trainer but also don’t feel so isolated like you would working out by yourself. Dynami's Coach Jacob has been my personal coach and guiding light for... half a decade now, time flies, eh? through Covid and a devastating injury from the sports that I do, Jacob has been the thoroughly scientific method behind the required strength training all of us must do to support the fun things we may be into on weekends. And other days.

All of Dynami's coaches have rigorous backgrounds in kinesiology and exercise. This is THE best gym, equipment, and trainers in the city. They are so knowledgeable and experienced.

I lived with significant chronic pain for over 19 years since I was 19 years old. I have worked with trainers and tried all the therapies and treatments and nothing did a ton of good. Through my work here with my marvelous trainer Jacob, I can honestly report often feeling pain-free for long stretches of time. My first travel without pain was about 6 months ago and it was a revelation to feel strong and stable and without constant discomfort, despite lugging a suitcase around and long flights. I can’t recommend this spot more highly. Don’t walk, run.

Ive been training with Sara for the past year and she has been a game-changer for my tennis skills. She blends sports coaching, PT knowledge and fun which makes each session enjoyable but productive.

Perform for life (P4L) is the best! I feel like I've tried every workout class or gym in San Francisco and what I love about P4L is how they have created such a community and make you feel like family. I do personal training and also take advantage of the small group classes.

My trainer Dan is both super knowledgeable, but he also makes the training itself fun. He's helped me a lot on my form and I've seen so much improvement in how much I can lift, which contributes to how strong and tone I feel. I also feel like I have a lot more tools to better workout on my own when traveling. I highly, highly recommend Dan!

I've also enjoy taking the small group classes because it's a great way to meet the other trainers as well as other people who attend the same gym. This makes going to the gym feel like you're just hanging with your friends.

I used Perform For Life for about 6 months with the goal of getting my body wedding ready! After a few grueling years of grad school and then the pandemic, I had put in minimal time into taking care of myself, and was very self conscious about my body. I hated gyms because I was overwhelmed by all of the equipment. I'd finally decided to make an investment in myself but was shopping around to find a place that didn't give me anxiety.

From my first consultation phone call with Justine Sharifi, I felt so at ease. She was so kind and relatable. I did my initial assessment and subsequently my very first training session with Coach Dan and at no point did I feel awkward -- rather I felt very comfortable and I knew I'd found a home for my fitness journey.

I was paired up with Coach Sara for the next 6 months and I could not have been happier. Sara is so talented at her job -- meaning she is professional, encouraging, and has extensive knowledge of the way the body works & how to curate a fitness plan that will challenge (but not overwhelm) you, and pace it so that you can build upon your progress to reach your ultimate goals.

I always felt like Sara was fully committed to me during our sessions together. She accommodated my crazy, unpredictable schedule, and was never on her phone or distracted. She paid attention to every rep and would even take notes so that she could update our game plan. On top of being an awesome coach, Sara is a lovely human being -- on days where the wedding planning stress hit hard and I shed a few tears, she showed me a great deal of kindness and I could tell that she is just a genuine person overall. She's definitely someone I felt lucky to have in my corner!

Other coaches that I never trained with have also always been extremely friendly and approachable here -- there is an authentic family dynamic as well as true talent at Perform For Life -- you can't go wrong! :) Thank you so much, Sara and P4L!!!!

Hands down, this is the best gym in San Francisco. I've been a member since 2019 and I see no reason why I would ever go anywhere else. Unlimited classes come with your personal training membership, so there's a ton of variety. The quality of the fitness coaches is unparalleled (Jon, Jacob, Sara - I'm looking at you). I guarantee this is not a gym where the trainers will let you have bad form, and that prevents injuries my friends.

My fiancee and I are currently doing personal training to get ready for wedding pics, and we're both seeing great results. Check out P4L for excellent fitness training and a fantastic community.

Joining Perform for Life is one of the best decisions I’ve made without a doubt. I’ve been training here for almost a year now, in both the 1:1 (working with Zach, which has been awesome) and small group classes. In the initial meeting and assessment I was able to identify my goals and where I wanted to improve, and then we designed a training program to meet those needs. Since then I’ve been able to progress and we’ve adjusted the training program to hit new and different fitness goals, alongside working on nutrition and mobility.

The classes provide a great environment for training, with the other members supporting each other and pushing one another to do their best. The instructors design very well rounded classes, giving you a great workout in just 50 short minutes that are done before you know it. Each instructor has a background and certification in training, and even in the small groups you’re able to get form coaching and exercise modifications to meet your needs.

I have been working with Coach Jacob for a year. He is very knowledgeable about what he does and keeps up to date with the science behind the workout. Our workouts are always a good balance of challenging and fun. His guidance through various exercises have greatly improved my technique in many fundamental movements and improved my general body awareness. Starting personal training at Perform for Life is one of the best decisions I've ever made for my health and wellbeing. The team is so kind and welcoming. I could not be happier to be part of this community.

Why I Joined: I am an active person - I run every day, box multiple times a week, and at the time before joining, was taking online HIIT classes. I felt like I was working out hours on end without seeing any results. I had thought about personal training for a while, but never did it because expense. I was so frustrated with all the effort I was putting in with nothing to show for it that I finally decided to look into personal training to figure out what I was doing wrong. Or at least so I could say I tried everything before accepting my body as it was.

Initial Phone Consult: I did an initial consultation with Bryant who asked me what I was looking for, told me about the gym and encouraged me to get an assessment done - which he provided as a discount, as well as take a complementary class to see if I liked the gym. He was friendly and not pushy at all! Really appreciated that.

The Assessment: When I got to the gym for my assessment, Bryant greeted me at the door, gave me a teeny tour, introduced me to the entire staff, and then matched me up with Zach who would be doing my assessment. We did a series of exercises, and In Body scan, and then discussed what I was looking for. After our chat, I decided to sign up and began training the next week.

How it's going: I have been working with Coach Zach once a week for the last 6 weeks and I could not say more good things about him. He is absolutely amazing. He puts so much care and attention into my individual program - from the in-session training to nutrition advice to workout and stretching "homework" on days I do not see him - I feel like he really cares and wants to see me succeed. We recently did a second InBody scan where it showed I lost 2% body fat and I felt like he was just as excited as I was! He is always teaching me something new and, even while he is torturing me with heavy lifts, we chat and laugh and have a good time.

Honestly, everyone at the gym is so great. You don't just join a gym, you join a community. I could not recommend P4L more. Great team! During a pandemic I was hesitant about starting a membership with a gym, but P4L isn't like others. The coaches energy during park training is contagious, even at 7am! They make sure the equipment we use during the workout is constantly being wiped down. Awesome community 👍

I attended a four week transformation bootcamp with Perform For Life to kickstart my 2020. It included four days of training per week (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri) with two very knowledgeable coaches (Coach Nia and Coach Mel). They took 15 trainees through classes that included boxing, upper body focus, lower body focus, and metabolic conditioning. In addition, we had a free initial consult with an in house nutritionist and two small group and two semi private sessions (in case we didn't think that 4 classes per week were enough).

I liked the bootcamp because the workouts were fun yet challenging. I also got to know some of my fellow trainees in and out of bootcamp (we even did a happy hour and karaoke night!). The goal to lose 8 pounds, 2% body fat or gain 2% muscle was also very reasonable and attainable, unlike other weight loss or fitness challenges.

I highly recommend the Perform For Life Transformation Bootcamp! All levels and abilities are welcome!

I’ve been training with Melissa (aka “Coach Yu”) since P4L opened this location. I am a life-long, multi-sport athlete who faced a new disability. I would not have the hope I have today without Melissa.

It hasn’t all been pretty, but Melissa has helped me meet every new developing challenge with a fighters mentality, and she’s kept it fun and safe in the process.

Even though half the certifications on P4L’s walls are hers, Melissa has an unassuming, humble spirit and a genuine care for each individual she trains.

Don’t get me wrong! Melissa knows exactly how much your body and mind can accomplish, pushes you to rise to that next level ... and gets there WITH you, even if you didn’t believe you could get there when you started.

Met with a few trainers already, the chiropractor and nutritionist, and all I can say is WOW. Everyone is so genuine and you can all tell that they love what they do. I started training with Coach Yu (Melissa) a couple months ago and she is def the best! She managed to curate the program based on my personal goals and kept monitoring my progress with regular adjustments to the program. I mentioned to her I had tight calves issues due to long time sitting, and she made sure to add a Theragun roll out session to the end of each class, which I highly appreciated. She is also super fun and easy to talk to, it was a true pleasure to train with her, and that has become a motivating factor for me to visit gym more often :)

I’ve been coming to P4L for over a year to train with Zach Hurley. He’s an incredible trainer and I have seen lots of life improvements through my sessions with him. This gym, like the Mission/Castro and FiDi locations, is well equipped, clean, and bright. All of the trainers, including Zach, are kind and know their stuff. In addition, the other wellness services offered through P4L, such as Chiropractic services with Krystal and nutrition with Emily, have also been fantastic. I highly recommend giving P4L a shot. It’s my favorite fitness experience in SF by a mile.

Let me start by saying that I never write reviews but I'm writing a 5/5 review for Randy. I worked with him 1 on 1 over the summer and he was that good. I was initially a bit hesitant because of the price and since it's difficult to find a good personal trainer. But after working with Randy I can confidentily say that it was worth it. Randy is knowledgable, experienced and really listens to your concerns. My case was especially tricky because I have severe lower back pain so all the movements had to be tailored to me so that it wouldn't cause me pain or worsen my condition in any way. Randy knows his work to the level that he can not only assess and target my trouble spots but also adjust workouts to fit my needs and to work around my limitations. I feel like I now know what I need to work on to reach my goals and how to do so. I'd definitely recommend P4L and Randy!

If you are looking for a PRIMETIME gym, look no further! This location has it all. From FULL restrooms with all the amenities you need to staff that is very professional. NO workout is ever the same! My whole body is sore from the workouts but guess what... THEY HAVE A SPORTS CHIROPRACTOR inside to make you feel back to normal. So happy I found my new fitness home. Highly recommend!

I've been to other group exercise classes in other gyms in the East Bay, but this is by far one of the best that I have attended to. I attended a 6 AM Full Body semi-private class taught by Coach Jon that I highly recommend. He is engaging and encouraging and genuinely does his best to make sure that we have a good experience. At the end of the class that I went to he had us do a finisher, which was a great way to end a challenging class. In addition, his exercises successfully targeted the all of the muscle groups and I enjoyed his explanation of which muscle group each exercise targeted. I'm not normally a morning person when it comes to exercising, but I would set as many alarms as necessary to take another class here.

Great location, great staff and great training. What more is there to say!? I took part in one of the 4 person training sessions with instructor Dan. He was firm but encouraging. He created a couple super dynamic circuits that gave me one of the more thorough workouts I’ve ever had. The gym was spotless and has bathrooms with private showers. The small group setting was awesome and the gym has all the latest and greatest gear. Definitely the best training gym in the city!

The only “working out” I really knew was copying people on the machines and nothing with actual weights. I wasn’t very confident at the gym and couldn’t rely on apps or YouTube videos because I was worried about my form or whether I was doing exercises correctly.

Then I experienced P4L and their amazing staff. I’ve done the Semi Small Group classes and the classes have honestly made me more knowledgeable in the fitness world. When I first came to the gym, I noticed that they have a wall dedicated to all of the coaches degrees and certifications. This gave me 110% trust in all the coaches here since I have a few injuries that limit some movements for me. Also, all the coaches are welcoming, knowledgable, and supportive. The coaches cater the work out to YOU, and the people who work out alongside of you are so supportive of one another. It’s honestly a fitness community and the coach ensures they meet the needs of all their clients. I never thought I would ever learn to do a deadlift and now they’re my favorite work out! (Thanks, Coach Dan!)

The gym overall is SO CLEAN. The bathrooms are fully stocked with everything you need with showers! (not many gyms have this!)

If you want to feel more confident in your fitness journey, then I highly recommend you check out this gym.

I came in for an assessment and to hit an established goal that I had expressed but walked out with a deflated self-esteem. Unlike other gyms, boutique gyms make you pay extra for an assessment. They’ll make you come in at a very inconvenient hour and waste your time because although they “assess” you and your goals you’ll get matched up to a trainer that has no information on your assessment. Who will act as if yesterday and the whole assessment did not happen. Basically, the assessment was a waste of time and the first class will be just like any first class for personal training. It is slow paced and you talk a lot.

But that’s not the only reason that I didn’t have a good experience here. It was because as I’m working out the trainer keeps telling me I won’t be able to do things. For example, I won’t be able to lift a weight because that’s too heavy. When I did, he didn’t hold back how shocked he was. I try to be unfazed with this nonsensical behavior and continue training. But to make matters worse, he kept making the exercises easier before I even struggled.

Indirectly saying I couldn’t do anything without help and underestimating my strength ahead of time. Maybe because he was barely paying attention, not counting and talking to near by trainers. After the session, mentally, it didn’t feel great. It’s 2019, no one should ever make you feel incompetent especially if you’re paying them hundreds of dollars to do exercises you could do on your own by watching YouTube videos at home for FREE and at least you’ll feel more encouraged by your TV screen. Overall, if you’re considering gyms, be sure to try out the competitors also before you sign on.

For the past 6 months, I have been training at Perform for Life with Melissa Yu for my wedding. She has taken the time to really understand my goals and my current fitness level in order to build a complete workout plan for me. Through Melissa help, I have been able to build strength, stability and power and as plus, I was able to get great arms for my wedding :). Not only has Melissa helped me achieve my goals, but she has also taught me why I'm doing what I'm doing and how to do it with correct form. This education is really helpful when I work out on my own. As a big plus, Melissa is really funny and easy to talk to.
Melissa also teaches boxing which is a lot of fun and a great full body workout. Perform for Life is lucky to have such a passionate, smart and funny trainer working for them.

P4L is a fantastic personal-training gym. I could not be happier with the results I’m getting, losing fat and gaining muscle.

Joining P4L is a return to the gym after many years away. Bryant (an owner) and Taylor (my trainer) turned my vague goals into a concrete program with specific targets. I very much appreciate P4L’s philosophy of using measurable metrics through an In-Body analysis. With monthly reviews I see the progress I am making, and it’s amazing!

Taylor is a wonderful trainer. Without a doubt he’s as committed to my success as I am, and he’s always encouraging. I have a old back injury that I was concerned about, but we’ve been able to increase intensity gradually without any re-injury. In consultation with me, he regularly changes our workout specifics to maximize my results.

I feel very lucky that I found P4L and Taylor.
