I have been training with Julian for over two years, and his impact on my fitness journey has been extraordinary. From day one, his kindness and compassion have created a supportive environment where I feel valued and motivated to push my limits.
I have always had some or the other injury due to my sedentary lifestyle but Julian designs effective workouts tailored to my injuries. With his expertise in anatomy and biomechanics, he adapts exercises to ensure safety without sacrificing effectiveness. His keen eye for detail and innovative approach ensure that every workout is challenging yet safe, allowing me to progress steadily towards my goals with confidence.
Moreover, Julian's positivity and encouragement have been a constant source of motivation for me. Whether it's through a gentle word of encouragement or a challenging yet supportive push, Julian always knows how to inspire me to give my best effort. Julian has taught me how to be better with nutrition and build a mindful relationship with food.
Over the two years, I have seen tremendous growth in my physical strength, tone, posture. One of the major goals I had when I started off was to improve my cardio vascular strength. Two years down the line, I can confidently say that I have seen immense improvement.

Julian and I worked together for the better part of three years. When I met him I had a bum knee, couldn't run, and was in an awful headspace. In the first six months I dropped ~20lbs, in the following eighteen I put on ~15lbs of muscle. Despite going literally from couch to three hours of working out a day five days a week I was never injured at any point in those three years. Over that time Julian and I built a friendship and I learned how to take care of my body. It's been four years since I first started working with him and the spreadsheet he gave me to help me track my nutrition and workouts is still an integral part of my daily routine.

No matter what you fitness goals are, Julian can help you achieve them. Don't let his dad jokes deter you.

I first met Julian over four years ago. I was an out-of-shape, fifty-years-old man who was struggling to become a better Laser sailor. Through his passionate and patient dedication to the sport, I eventually realized what Julian already knew, that to become a better sailor I had to become a better version of myself. Towards that end as my personal trainer, Julian provided me a comprehensive and targeted approach which made immediate and lasting improvements in my diet, energy, strength and mobility. Conversant with online resources he has been accessible and easily adapts to my schedule. As I've aged, different physical challenges have presented themselves, but with Julian's support and creativity they become more manageable.

From my time with Julian as a coach and personal trainer, I've gained the motivation and tools to improve not only my physical wellbeing, but the overall quality of my life. Perhaps what I've learned from him can be best summed up by Hemingway's phrase "grace under pressure."

I’ve been training with Julian for well over a year now, and he’s been great throughout the entire journey, starting from couch potato. He’s always able to tailor our workouts to our long term goals as well as our physical condition. The workouts always feel achievable, yet difficult - he finds a great balance to keep me motivated and productive.

Julian is a very knowledgeable trainer. He is very good with designing workouts that are fun and effective in helping reach your goals. He makes sure to have goals that are discussed in depth with clients and to plan workouts that focus on strengthening muscles. Being a person who had never tried strength training before I met him, he made sure the workouts were interesting and I can say with confidence that I now love lifting weights. He is very good with ensuring you follow a healthy diet and active lifestyle outside the workout schedules by regularly checking in with you. I highly recommend Julian as a trainer if you want to see results and make healthy lifestyle changes.

Why do my tummy rolls ache?! In all seriousness, Julian is a fantastic personal trainer - my partner and I have been seeing him 3x a week for over a year with no plans of stopping soon. He always first checks on how we’re doing and remembers the problems from the previous sessions (e.g. I have some old injuries that sometimes act up, and hyper-mobility that makes some exercises better than others) and adjust the exercise accordingly. He listened to what I wanted out of the workouts from the start and I have since gotten much stronger and learned to use the equipment in my gym. Fun and friendly, and we’re comfortable enough around him to whine, haggle, poke fun at, and of course, get sweaty.

I cannot say enough positive things about Julian Soto and his business. We reside in an area where there are limited resources for full-time ILCA coaching. We made arrangements to compete at a major ILCA regatta in Spring 2023 but needed a coach/support boat on the water since our local team was not traveling there. Julian is the private coach we were lucky to hire. We were also thrilled that he offered pre-regatta days for training on-site as we were unfamiliar with the venue. It became apparent we were with someone very experienced when we met the rest of his team for the week. Roster included last year’s Leiter Cup champion and this year’s Midwinters West ILCA 6 2nd place finisher (plus another ILCA 6 Top 10 finisher). Despite being a regular coach for some of the highest level youth sailors all over the country, I felt that he treated all sailors on the team with the same amount of attention, regardless of skill level. He is a good listener, approachable, always positive and provided detailed and useful feedback. My youth sailor's skills accelerated after that week with him and has remained under his training via virtual training (fitness, nutrition). Due to his efforts, our youth sailor has progressed athletically and has a healthy mindset. We are so thankful for Julian and being a positive role model in our youth sailor's life.

Friends that I sail keelboats with suggested I try out a laser. I am happy to have had the chance to become more familiar with this exciting and popular little race animal. With its sleek, minimalist design, lasers are highly responsive, challenging and rewarding to sail. I am lucky to have found Julian, an excellent performance and race instructor, to learn the ropes. I had a series of private lessons with him. His calm, friendly, but systematic approach taught me correct form from the onset with a focus on high-quality, race oriented techniques. I have really appreciated his precise, individualized instruction. Attaching a GoPro to my boat, he documents each sail and sends the video to me afterward with valuable commentary which has really deepened the learning experience and helped me recognize dynamics that can go lost in the heat of the moment. I can whole heartedly recommend Julian for both beginners and advanced racers who are interested in learning in a supportive and friendly environment that emphasizes peak performance.
