We have guided thousands of clients to their fitness goals, which has allowed these members of our community to thrive in their professional and personal endeavors. I went to Iron Orr for roughly a year and half. I put on 10 lbs of muscle in 4 months. Jorge was my primary trainer. If I was unable to schedule Jorge, I would workout with Logan. Going to Iron Orr was a good experience overall. My workout was tailored specifically for my needs by Jorge. Jorge was always positive and encouraging throughout the workouts. I would highly recommend Iron Orr if you are in need of a personal trainer.

I’ve really enjoyed training with Oscar - he’s highly knowledgeable and gives me challenging workouts and it’s resulted in muscle percentage gain already after only 3 weeks. He consistently corrects my form, motivates me to finish difficult reps, gives me diet/recovery advice, and is just overall a friendly dude. Katherine is also great - she knows a million different exercises and I learn a lot from her. They have some friendly and legit trainers here.

I’ve been training here for the past four months, and the support I’ve received on my fitness and weight loss journey has been incredible. So far, I’ve lost 15 pounds and dropped 6% body fat and I can feel the difference in my body every day.
I started off working with Francesca, who was so welcoming and made it easy to get into a solid routine. I now train with Jenessa, and she’s been a game changer. Jenessa is an amazing trainer! I always look forward to our partner sessions because she makes them fun, motivating, and super effective. I've been training with Jenessa and Mia for over a month and am so grateful for what they do. The work that they put in to creating and developing a longitudinal plan and workout really shows in the results. Each session is so comprehensive and challenging and I always feel safe from injuries. I leave each session feeling like I got the most challenging workout with optimal recovery in between.
Both Mia and Jenessa are so passionate and knowledgeable. Whether it's about anatomy, or nutrition - they make it so easy to understand and make real time changes both in and out of the gym. They make the gym so approachable and each hour literally flies by. Whether it's at 6 am or 8 pm I really appreciate the immense effort they put into making sure its a maximally effective hour. Best thing I did for myself and I only wish I joined Iron Orr sooner. Justin has done an amazing job assembling a team of first-class trainers. I have worked primarily with Valentyna for over a year. Every single workout she had me perform was thorough, safe, and challenging. She always knew exactly when to push me and when to have me back off if my form was incorrect or my energy was a little low. Periodic body scan assessments help track results, and nutrition counseling supports the workout plan. Working out with Valentyna and Iron Orr is the longest I have ever gone without hurting myself in the weight room - maximum effectiveness and zero injuries. All the trainers have such a positive and supportive attitude - anyone at any fitness level can and should work with Iron Orr to achieve their desired results.

I went there just so I can find out more for them and see what they offer, and Justin was able to tell me everything I needed to know and he was super nice, He took his time without being rushed and went step by step on explaining everything to me. I have never been to a gym to just ask questions and be welcomed like I was here. All the staff is very friendly and helpful. I wasn’t able to start a journey with them as off right now for personal reasons, but if I would ever start with a personal trainer I would not change this place. Jorge is the BEST TRAINER EVER.
I really like working out with Jorge. He is profession and bright. I like how he push me all the way but still keep everything safe and maintainable. Not many trainers teach their trainees how to work out their own but he does. The facility is also great. Especially the pull up machine that just introduced to the center is really nice. Literally such a life changing place to get some personal training done. You cannot put a price on your health. I am a senior adult over 70 years old. Lifting weight with correct form is important to prevent injury. Everyone needs to be trained. Will was my trainer. Will made sure my form was spot on. And the amount of weight was enough to challenge me without injury. Will was professional, knowledgeable, easy to understand, respectful, kind and supportive. When I would get discouraged Will knew exactly what to say to motivate me. Weight training changed my life in every way mentally and physically.

What kind of joke is this, posting flyers around that are filled with complete nonsense. I don’t think those two pictures are both Cathy 😂 but if you really want to get in shape, there are youtube videos on how to do that. Follow a simple workout if you’ve never been to the gym and in one month you’ll see progress. Thats how biology works, there’s no need to pay someone to show you something that you can watch online for free. All they do is act nice and milk your money.

The equipment is all very old except some new dumbbell sets they got. Also the layout is too cramped. They should get rid of some of their underused machines and add another squat rack, maybe a small one. All the employees seem pretty chill though. They are usually just working with a client and usually stay in their own area. Main thing with this gym is convenience.

I used to hate exercise. Ive only done majority cardio and HIIT work so those always leave me dying and out of breath. I decided to try weight training because of all its benefits for bone health and old age (in addition to gaining pandemic weight). However, having been always intimidated in gym weight rooms, I wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing to be safe and avoid injuries. Iron Orr has a free consultation session so I decided to check it out and see what they can offer me. They cater each program to the individual and their goals. John Callaghan trained me and he was amazing. John introduced so many exercises to me and taught me how to do it in the proper form. When I dont feel certain muscles, he would teach me modifications or alternate lifts I could do to have a better mind-muscle connection. I used to have a nagging back pain and after addressing it with him and working on exercises that help strengthen my back and core, it went away. I've trained with John for more than a year and I still use everything I learned from him when I'm training by myself. In addition to his degrees, he has trained clients all over the world and entire athletic teams so you know you're in the best hands. Thanks John for all your guidance and sorry this is long overdue!

I made a decision to get in shape at age 67. Crazy, but yeah, true. I searched for a personal trainer and talked with Justin, the owner of Iron Orr. Justin is the most thoughtful, considerate, and skilled training CEO I have ever met. He understood the needs and desires I had at age 67. He listened and encouraged. I have been working out now for 2 months and am in the best shape of my life. I am not kidding. I am down to 17% body fat, and have increased lean muscle mass substantially. They tailored made a program to focus on non-injury, but high impact routines. The trainers are so professional, patient, yet motivating and accountable. This has been one of the greatest experiences of my life, and I would recommend Iron Orr to anyone of any age with a dream to transform their body and their minds. If I can do this at age 67 (actually just turned 68), anyone with the drive and a dream to do this can. Give yourself a gift for 2024. Iron Orr has changed my life.

I started going to Iron Orr couple of months ago and I love it there. I have been training with Francesca and have seen great results. She is very knowledgeable and understands what I need to see actual results. She and the team didn’t make any fake promises but laid down actual real goal which can help track your results. I have lost around 10 pounds and feel lot leaner. Francesca pushes my limit and forces me to get out of comfort zone. Besides Francesca I have worked out with couple of other trainers and I loved working out with them too. They might have different styles but they follow the plan and actually listen to what you need. In the past after few months I get bored with working out but that has not been the case since I started at Iron Orr. They also focus on nutrition and help you keep track of it.
Overall I think Iron Orr is an excellent choice to achieve your health goals!

I recently started going to Iron Orr and I have had great experience so far. Justin, who is the gym owner, met with me for a thorough consultation / evaluation and then set me with up on a program with two excellent trainers (Francesca and Jay). It’s awesome to workout with experienced trainers who understand physiology, and are genuinely focused on matching exercises to the client’s abilities and goals. The staff, starting with Justin, are very customer friendly and create a welcoming environment for members. The facility itself is fully equipped with everything from cardio equipment to a turf room to weights and more. The focus on cleanliness is better than any gym I have ever seen. Kudos to Justin for creating such a great place to workout and to the staff for continuing the vision.

I consulted with the Justin the owner of the Iron Orr. He is great! He does not make any fake promise and the details mentioned by him that you can tell he spends a lot of time to build the whole plan for your different goals. I plan to build up muscle and loss weight at the end of year. The consult with Justin make me feel confident that they can help me do that from nutrition to training. And they actually do that. I have done couple of times of training and I think it is a good time to review. All the trainers have their own style but they follow your plan that makes at the beginning. Justin is wonderful and he is a real expert. Jay is knowledgable and very considerable. Taii likes to push me to the limit and it will always be a great challenging.
They also track your nutrition quite carefully. And notice you whenever you do not complete your nutrition goal.
Overall, I think Iron Orr is a good choice for you to accomplish your goal!

Recently signed up in January with their personal trainers. I got off to slow start because there was a revolving door of personal trainers leaving but then I was assigned Jay Silva. Jay has military background and focuses on strength training. I felt weak and slow for the first week. But eventually got felt stronger after each session and I was confident to lift heavier to see how far I can go. I am proud to say so far I lost 4lbs and broke a record of deadlifting. If you sign up for this gym please ask for Jay to be your personal trainer. Jay I wished I had met you in January, I know I would have lost 15lbs in 3 months.

I recently started training with Jay Silva at Iron Orr fitness. The gym where the training occurs is a nice facility- spacious, clean, and contains an excellent range of exercise equipment. Only complaint about the facility is the lack of a true changing room/locker room.
The staff of Iron Orr fitness are all friendly and professional. For this review, however, I want to focus on the excellence of my trainer, Jay Silva. He is the best trainer I’ve ever had. He is knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly. He truly listens to what I have to say about my goals and expectations. More importantly, he has been completely engaged during our entire sessions. He constantly assesses my form during the exercises to minimize any potential injuries. His attitude is perfect- he challenges me but not to a level where I feel too sore or exhausted the next day. He is always encouraging, and I always look forward to our next sessions without ambivalence or dread. Without reservation, I highly recommend Jay for anyone looking for an ideal trainer.

My personal trainer at Iron Orr fitness was John Callaghan and he was amazing!
John was genuinely invested in supporting me through my physical fitness journey without the slightest form of judgment. He helped me understand how my body worked and what factors affected our fat/muscle ratio. He also helped me plan out my daily meals and track my calorie intake and even provided science-backed suggestions to help me with my sleep. He was extremely patient with me while still holding me accountable and allowed me to get the best workout I possibly could in every session. I was able to safely learn work out techniques I have never tried before. John also took the time to make every session interesting and really helped me stay motivated. Moreover, he was very easy to talk to and I always looked forward to our sessions. Over time, my confidence grew and I became much healthier both physically and mentally.
I highly recommend John as a personal trainer. Anyone can show you how to work out but John takes personal training to the next level. He has an impressive depth of knowledge about physical fitness and nutrition and an impressive ability to teach his knowledge and skills to people, tailoring each class to their specific needs at any given time. Before I left, John helped me plan out a workout regimen I can easily follow to maintain my physical fitness. [October 2022 Update] Mom has been working out with Abby Pech the last few months and Abby has become her absolute favorite trainer so far (amongst many she tried at Iron Orr). Abby has been incredibly adaptive to the specific needs of my mom based on some of the injuries that my mom's had over the years. In addition to the amazing training skills that Abby displays, she's very friendly and has been very thoughtful also during COVID. She ensures that she wears a mask and also sanitizes the surfaces before my mom uses them. Highly recommend Iron Orr for fitness needs and Abby if you are looking for a fab trainer.
My mom started working with Matthew Frankfurth recently and has seen tremendous success with her knee/core strength and stability (Especially during winter here). Matthew ensures he strikes the right balance between my mom's ability (based on her past mdicial conditions) as well as getting stronger and issue-free in the future. My mom trains 3 times a week and she now looks forward to go to gym more than anything else. We just enrolled her for another set of classes. I am not a big fan of gyms because sometimes it's boring, and I came to Iron Orr Fitness for boxing classes in the summertime. And this is so cool and interesting, so I continue going and do not plan to stop. My trainer is Gerardo, we hit it off really fast. He is taking care of me, my nutrition plan, and our program. I couldn't imagine a better boxing trainer, everything is so clear and exciting, I have been making impressive results with a technique, and my body is now ready for summer first year in my life, finally ahaha. I also want to mention that Justin (the fitness owner) is very kind and caretaking. The atmosphere in Iron Orr Fitness is so warm, and the attitude is so individual. I want to give a massive thank you to John Callaghan for being my trainer the past 8 months. John is an expert level trainer and I would recommend him for anyone, he's great for beginners who lack the fundamentals, or for people like myself who know a lot but need help getting back into it or taking it to the next level. He knows it all from a deep understanding of nutritional knowledge to helping me train specifically in the gym to build strength and decrease body fat. When I first came to him I had totally gotten out of my health and fitness routine, gained a lot of weight, and had no consistency. John set a plan in place with me, tracked my macros, and even scheduled workouts for me to do when outside of the gym. He held me accountable without being pushy or too aggressive! Our trainer Adrian is fantastic! My wife and I have been training with him for about 2 months and every time we look forward to our training sessions. Each one of them is challenging and fun, Adrian pays a lot of attention to our form and clearly cares about our health and development. He is a great motivator and always willing to help. I started going to this gym often recently to try for a better lifestyle change and it's definitely been one of the best places I've been to. All the trainers are active, friendly and ready to help if approached; Justin in particular was a really big help in helping me find my earbuds that I left there. Man oh man where do I start!? First of all Alisha is an angel sent from heaven. When you first start your journey with Iron Orr you will be greeted by a personal trainer and they will meet you outside the gym. First impressions you'll see a very clean and well kept facility. The trainers especially Alisha are very knowledgeable. Any question you have they will know the answer. They monitor your diet and adjust accordingly to your goals. I'm 25 years old but I haven't felt this good since I was 16 years old. I feel so good I almost want to cry of happiness. This is only my 2nd day but I can already feel the transformation. Best decision I ever made was signing up for Iron Orr. Training with Shirlley is awesome - She is incredibly knowledgeable, always pushes and challenges me, listens well and tailors workouts to my needs. My experience training here with Matthew Frankfurth has not only met, but exceeded my hopes and expectations. I cannot speak highly enough of him.
I came in with my main goal being to build muscle and lift heavier. Having heard my friends's experiences with personal training elsewhere, I was worried that I would be spared things such as the bench press and dead lift because I am a girl. Not the case at all. Matt has supported my goals 100% from the start with so much enthusiasm and encouragement. I have been consistently improving in form and going up in weight week by week since I started, and my body feels amazing.
I can always count on my personal training session to uplift me, energize me, and be a very effective stress reliever.
It is very evident that Matt's background in physical therapy, years of education, first-hand experience in competitions, and history doing contracting for the military have made for him to be extremely competent as a trainer. Just as importantly, he’s such a genuinely nice person and so pleasant to be around. It makes getting your butt kicked by a hard workout not so bad!

I have been training with Brett Wheeless for just over two months. I'll divide my review into two parts, one of the gym and one of Brett specifically.
Gym Review:
I really like this gym compared to others I have tried. The equipment quality is very high. One can tell that they put effort into maintaining and servicing the equipment so that it is safe and clean. Their offerings span the full range of equipment and I've never found myself in a situation where I was unable to do an exercise due to lack of appropriate equipment.
The gym is small compared to larger chain offerings, so if you go during the pre and post-workday rush hours, you will probably find yourself having to wait.
Review of trainer Brett Wheeless:
I am very pleased with the quality of personal training from Brett. Before starting training, I was a gym novice and very insecure with working out in the gym. In addition, I have a back condition that makes several exercises difficult or impossible. From the beginning, Brett has factored this into my training plan and so far I have been very pleased. I physically feel myself getting stronger with improvements to my posture, balance, and overall energy levels. I look forward to continuing to train with him!

Brett's a rare find as a trainer - he listens, has no ego, and makes you feel like a rockstar even when you're gassed from the volume workout he just made you do.
I've received great feedback to correct my form in our workouts and he's great at keeping me motivated through our sessions. The attention I've received has been stellar and Brett's knowledge and experience of training is impressive, so I know I'm in good hands.
In the past my biggest issue was going to the gym consistently, but training with Brett has been a breath of fresh air and has made something I normally dread into something I look forward in my day.

I completed 12 personal training sessions with JJ at Iron Orr Fitness and had an incredible experience. I first heard of this facility through yelp and as it is ranked as one of the best personal trainers in San Diego, I decided to book for a consultation and immediately started training with Brett. Me and boyfriend signed up for the partner sessions but due to our availability our number one concern was trainer flexibility. That being said, Brett has been great and remained flexible regarding scheduling despite of his own busy schedule. In regards to training, it gets very tough especially if you’re a novice in working out but Brett always takes his time to educate on proper posture/technique and takes his time to explain why/how specific exercises can and will help with achieving your personal goals. On top of that Brett is very motivating pushing you through every training session. He also goes out of his way and texts you personalized meal plans, training plans, and even training session reminders. Initially, my boyfriend and I only signed up for 10 sessions but seeing as to how good Brett’s training plan is, we decided to sign up for personal training in this facility for 12 more months. This facility definitely does not disappoint!

This place is great for your workout routine. Lots of workout equipments and tools offered, such as threadmills, cycling machines, free weights, dumbbells, barbells, Bozu, mats, etc. Keep in mind that you gotta be a resident living in one of the Costa Verde apartments or its sister apartment to gain the entrance. However, if you know a friend who lives there, you can come in as a guess complimentarily.

I've been training with Chelsey since March 2018 and I don't recognize the old version of me anymore. When I first started I had severe sciatic back pain and right shoulder weakness (post-surgery), both of which affected my posture, body functionality and overall self-esteem. Chelsey did not only help me become stronger and fitter but I can proudly say I'm pain-free now. She put me on the right track and helped me regain my self confidence. She helps me conquer new goals and achieve more, she simply believes in me. Couldn't ask for a better coach/ mentor.

Paul Inga is an amazing trainer! He taught me a lot of new concepts and helped clear up some misconceptions that I had about physical health and nutrition. As a runner, one of the most helpful things that he taught me is how to prevent knee injuries and IT Band Syndrome through proper foam rolling, stretching, and gym training.
Overall, Iron Orr Fitness is a great place because it takes a holistic approach toward health. The trainers are accomplished athletes, well-qualified, and personable.

I started working out at the gym last December I had a consultation with Chelsey and she was very kind a d understanding I have a back injury from few years back a d I have to be very careful about what I do at the gym. Which was why I had put it off for so long. My blood pressure has been getting hight so I sat down with Chelsey and gave her my history. She new what I needed and started right away. Her workouts are amazing, I'm getting stronger, and no pain in my back. But I'm always sore from the workouts, she changes it up for me every couple weeks. Every workout I feel so happy after I'm done. She is a great listener knows her stuff and so sweet and kind. I would recommend her to anyone one who needs a new start or just to get back in the gym. She is punctual always asks about my workouts and gives great advice on training techniques and nutrition. The gym is very clean and has a nice environment, I'm very happy there and have had great health improvement since I started. I'm happy with Chelsey as my PT and the Iron Orr gym. Five stars!

Seriously, Iron Orr are in a league of their own! I started training with Tivi 4 months ago expecting to just try it out for a couple weeks to get a jump start and hopefully motivate myself because the gym was not something I ever looked forward to. Fast forward 4 months and I look forward to getting up in the mornings before work to go to the gym, I feel happier, I feel more and more confident in my body, and it has even motivated me to be more active outside of my training sessions. Long overdue review!! I couldn't say more positive things about this gym and my trainer Mark Lambson. Mark incorporated all things I loved about training and pushed me to my max in the best way. I hit my personal record in squats and lost 10% body fat over the course of a year. I've come back to him for two rounds of training! I love this gym! I always wanted to loose weight but I hated going to the gym.
But when I started my training with Tess, I realized that workouts can be fun too. She is an amazing trainer, very enthusiastic and always full of energy. I could hardly lift any weights in the beginning of my sessions, but Tess was so supportive and so encouraging. She is so cool. She is more like a friend than a trainer, a good friend who would never let you give up on your goals. She keeps on encouraging you during the workouts by saying "you're almost there,great work" , which helps a lot, atleast for me.
Speaking about the workouts, they were not the same for all the sessions. Every session she comes up with a new set of exercises, so it was always interesting and very much fun to workout with her. She also helped me regarding my nutritional requirements and taught me how to maintain a balanced diet without sacrificing too much.
After 15 sessions with Tess, today I know that I am lot more stronger and healthier than I was when I started my workout. Thanks a lot Tess, you are awesome. I can't actually thank her enough. I'll see you soon Tess...

I've been training with Tess for a month or so (8 sessions) and I really enjoy it!
