I was gifted a five pack with Destinie for Christmas last year and it is proving to be the best gift ever! My mom read online that Pilates can be good for people with Ehlers-Danlos (me). That five pack turned into another five pack which turned into automatic refills AND an additional zoom class every week.

I had zero Pilates experience coming in, so I put my full trust into Destinie to lead me down this path. I believe she is a savant. She had an answer and a solution to every ache, pain, and question I brought to her. She is kind, nurturing, smart as can be, intuitive, observant, and also hilarious. I don't think it's an exaggeration to say she knows my body better than I do at this point.

I can't believe the progress I've made in a year and I truly owe it all to Destinie. I can't say enough good things about this studio, I am obsessed!

edit: It's been two years and I'm still going strong (literally) here!

I have been Nicole Lancie's student for over 8+ years. She has teached me intentional, precise movements to strengthen and nourish my body, so I can physically engage in normal activities.
Nicole's approach is holistic as she also incorporates a deep understanding of the human mind while teaching me to move in a different way to correct a movement dysfunction.
I highly recommend Pilates In Common. My daily life has drastically improved, since I have incorporated Pilates into my practice. This is one of the best investments you can make for yourself.

Highly recommend Destinie and Nicole from PIC. Every class is catered to my body and needs. I came in with foot pain that has now disappeared thanks to these classes and what they’ve taught me.

I've been very active most of my life until the pandemic. Staying put for the past 3 years did more damage to my health and lifestyle than I'd like to admit. I've had a series of back issues for the past couple of years, which I eventually recovered from, but those were temporary fixes from visiting chiropractors and physical therapists. I wanted to find a long-term solution. After researching online, I saw great reviews about "Pilates in Common". Destinie's story about recovering from severe backpains really connected with me. It's been about six month of working with Destinie, and I have not had a single back issue. At first, the workouts were so subtle, I did not think it was doing much, but after a couple of month, my body awareness was different, and I felt more secure about how I was holding myself up. Destinie's careful attention to my condition and adjusting the lessons accordingly has slowly but surely corrected my alignment and strengthened by core. Destinie's positive energy and total attention to my well-being has made my sessions a true physical and mental health healing opportunities!

The ladies of PiC are amazing. I’ve primarily worked with Destinie, and she has been the best coach I’ve ever had. I went to her with my list of aches and pains, after trying fitness trainers, chiropractics, and PT (which would work for a while, but the pain would come back). I’ve learned so much - how the way I walk affected the rest of my body, how to listen TO my body, and about all these muscles I had that I didn’t know how to use. I felt helpless, and now Destinie has given me practical tools for me to overcome bad habits I’ve accumulated over the years which were the root causes of my pain. She is a great teacher - listening to and tailoring our sessions to what my body needs, and challenging my muscles to better support my body. It’s been quite an emotional experience for me, knowing that I’ve finally found relief and that I’m much stronger than I thought I can ever be. I’m really grateful to have found this studio, and I recommend it to anyone who’s looking for strength and a practice of only gains and lifelong benefits.

My experience with the superb teaching offerings by Pilates in Common (PIC) began during the Pandemic. I had wanted to take their classes because of recommendations from friends but as I live in Washington state was not able to. When lockdown happened though, PIC quickly put together a full 7 day/week schedule of classes for all levels on Zoom. They became my angels!!! I was able to learn from all 4 amazingly gifted teachers who have a very deep knowledge of the Pilates method, anatomy & physiology. As my schedule allows I continue Zoom classes. I am sincere in writing that when I began with PIC I could hardly climb stairs or hike for even short distances and can now skip up & down stairs and hike for miles and with no pain! My gratefulness for the expert, enjoyable & therapeutic benefits can not be overstated as I feel I have my life back.

I've been going to pilates with Keegan for years now, Even during the pandemic, they created ways for us to keep getting some work done. I tried yoga and never seemed to give me what I needed as a dancer to stay fit and flexible. Keegan knows exactly how to help me stay fit and work all the right things to keep dancing. The studio is bright, clean, and easy to get to via BART.

I'm a complete Pilates beginner. I kept hearing about it from friends and the benefits to their posture and overall wellbeing. After reading some of Pilates in Common's blog articles about the benefits of Pilates, I thought I'd give it a try. And I'm glad I did!

Destinie has a great approach with beginners because she remembers being one herself. She's very attentive in each session and provides multiple analogies to make sure her lessons stick. I'm currently on a biweekly in-person cadence with Destinie and do some mat exercises in addition to my typical workout exercises. Since working with Destinie I feel like I'm walking taller and have a better foundation when working out!

I cannot more highly recommend the amazing instructors of Pilates In Common (shoutout to Keegan & Destinie especially!) I've tried many approaches to improving my health and alleviating the pain of working at a computer all day: sit-stand desks; yoga ball chairs; balance boards; etc. But nothing has been nearly as effective as the comprehensive practice taught through Pilates In Common. Thank you!

Having worked with different Pilates practitioners in the past, I found Destinie's approach, communication, and abilities to be outstanding. I had immediate results with engagement and access to my body's deep-core strength. Highly recommend.

My first Pilates experience with Nichole was fantastic. Having zero knowledge about Pilates, Nichole was able to deliver the information and the instructions the way I could understand. I have a torsion pattern in my posture due to my long years of playing tennis. After the session, I’m able to engage certain parts of the body that are weak to help my posture be more balanced and in extension. My breathing also became deeper and able to hold longer which helped me relax more. Learning Pilates from Nichole will definitely be part of my routine wellness care.

I started taking sessions with Destinie back in 2018, when she was still an instructor-in-training! 😂 At the time, I was a weightlifter recovering from a car accident that happened a few months prior. Because I had been fairly avoidant of exercises or movements outside of my lifting routine, I was experiencing muscle atrophy and feeling more and more pain as my recovery period dragged on. I experienced so much pain relief even from that first session that I continue to seek out Destinie’s ever-increasing knowledge about human anatomy and healthy, sustainable movement.

What sets PiC instructors apart is that their commitment to helping you live painlessly isn’t limited to the work you do just during your session. They care about a holistic understanding of how your body moves. “Oh, you’ve taken up pottery these days? Here’s some exercises you can do at home to support finger dexterity and ease shoulder tension after the pottery studio.”

Always grateful for Destinie’s expertise, patience, and lack of judgement even when she has to talk me through a movement a few times. I could not recommend Destinie and Pilates in Common enough.

I have taken private lessons from Destinie, and I love it!

First of all, the studio is very clean and they have all the necessary equipments and more. The views from the studio are also additional perks :) Scheduling has been super easy as well, I really appreciate the communication on that part.

Destinie is super knowledgeable about all the physiological aspects of human body. She listens and understands and also assesses how your body is behaving and then explains what parts you are working when you do which move and gives super useful tips to improve your overall wellbeing. She also explains everything scientifically (I also might be asking too many questions to understand :)) , which was really useful for me to understand what and why things happen in my body. I'm able to move my body more consciously now. Overall, it's been very informative for me and I started understanding why I have pain at some points in my body and how to treat those points. I've been loving every second of my time with her!

Pilates in Common has been invaluable in helping me recover from a series of nagging chronic injuries. I'm in my mid thirties and pretty active, but sports injuries and desk work have started to take a toll on my body. Nicole has been helping me work through chronic pain in my shoulder and hip, and I've been seeing huge improvements in my pain levels and my ability to get back to the activities I enjoy. I've also taken online pilates classes with all of the other teachers which has built on my practice in the studio and is a great supplement for days when I have less time available. Most importantly, Nicole and the other teachers at PIC have helped me to understand what healthy movement patterns actually are, and I'm able to take what I've learned and apply it outside of the studio.

I first started working with Nicole in 2015 at the age of 21 when the spinal specialist I had been working with suggested Pilates as an alternative to surgery. I was struggling with severe chronic lower back pain from two herniated/degenerative discs which I acquired from skateboarding and jiujitsu. As a result I had spent the last three years on and off bedridden trying to resolve my injury. Where physical therapy, spinal injections and bed rest had failed, Nicole succeeded.

Although I should have started with privates, I walked into Nicole’s mat class with only a handful of Pilates sessions under my belt. Even within the constraints of a group class she was able to curate each exercise to not just accommodate but to improve and eventually rehabilitate my injury.

After 5 months of working with Nicole I was able to return to the activities of daily living that I had previously struggled with, and after a year I returned to combat sport and found that not only was I in better physical condition than before my injury, I was in better physical condition and health than the majority of those I competed against. My body is stronger, more coordinated, and injury resistant!

Nicole’s approach to teaching Pilates is an intricate blend of theory and craft. She keeps up to date on current research and expertly uses Pilates as a medium to deliver those benefits to your body. Nicole is invested in the health of her students, and her teaching style reflects it. Her personalized instructions are so attuned to my physical needs that I want to accuse someone of handing her the blueprints to my body. Because of this every class I can safely and confidently challenge the limits of what my body can do. Nicole maintains a creative and playful environment which eliminates the risk of her class ever becoming rigid or routine. I consider it evidence that you’ve found a high quality movement teacher when your body feels better at the end of class compared to when you walked in. I can say that I reliably leave Nicole’s class feeling great.

Working with instructor Keegan at Pilates in Common has been life changing. She has worked with me (and my myriad of health conditions) to improve my body's strength, flexibility, and resilience by tailoring the Pilates exercises to allow me to safely exert without overdoing it. She has a huge depth of experience and she explains the exercises in language I can visualize. She listens to where I'm at physically, and adapts her long-term plan for my physical improvement to what I need in the moment. I highly recommend her. I get a huge return on my investment in terms of a higher quality of life compared to what I would be able to do without regular Pilates with Keegan.

I can not say enough good things about the team at Pilates In Common. My flexibility and core strength have improved dramatically since I started taking classes here. Also, an added bonus - I lost some weight! Finally, all the instructors are very knowledgeable about anatomy, so they educate us about why we do certain exercises. Best money you can spend to improve your physical health.

I never write reviews but I cannot recommend this studio enough, for all levels of Pilates. I have practiced Pilates for over a decade with various Pilates instructors but never had an instructor like Destinie. Destine exceeds all expectations as a Pilates Instructor. She is highly qualified in Pilates and how the body works and responds to different movements. She has helped me achieve my goals! Definitely worth giving a try.

Pilates in Common has changed my life! I never imagined I could become as strong and capable of healthy spinal movement as I am today. I have had back pain since I was 13 - I used to throw my back out for a few days around once a year. Tried many things, including other Pilates studios, with no success. When I started working with Nicole around 5 years ago I was just recovering from a week of severe neck pain that even heavy painkillers and PT hadn’t been able to solve. Nicole helped me get rid of the neck pain in a sustainable way. She has been amazing - she has an uncanny ability to both figure out what I need to do in order to change a bad movement pattern, as well as the ability to communicate what I need to do in ways that I can actually follow and try. She is unendingly patient, and focuses not just on helping me “get a workout” when I work with her (although that happens too) but also on teaching me how to use what I have learned with her out in the world, and how to diagnose in myself what bad movement habits might have crept back in to cause any small aches and pains in daily life. Since I started working with her, I have not thrown out my back a single time.

And it’s not just Nicole - the whole studio is people who, besides being great Pilates instructors in general, are also able to help people with a wide range of injuries and challenges. They are all enthusiastic about helping people use Pilates to improve their lives and become their best selves. It’s a really special group of people and I feel very lucky to have found them. Would (and do) recommend to anyone!

1.In the last few years I had been wishing I had a personal Pilates teacher that could understand my particular body issues. My hesitation was "could I really do it?" And yes, my experience with Nicole has been extremely helpful. Even over Zoom she is an astute observer of what I need to be doing and excellent at catching my errors.
2. Pilates has given me knowledge of what I should be doing while standing, sitting, walking, etc., and knowledge of my body. I am definitely stronger after nearly 2 years. My biggest learning is to pay attention to what I am doing.
3. I highly recommend Nicole because of her vast knowledge about how bodies work and don't work, her focused questions about what my body experiences, and her determination to continue to get me stronger. She is patient and kind and intuitive.

Simply the best! I'm down in LA and have been taking remote pilates with Destinie since the beginning of the pandemic. Her knowledge of the body goes beyond any pilates instructor I have ever worked with. While I wish I could see her in person, I don't feel my workouts are ever lacking. Since taking her class, I'm much more in tune with my body. High recommend taking pilates with her!

I have been taking classes over Zoom with Destinie and Keegan over the last two years and only have incredible things to say about their classes. I started out as a complete beginner taking private classes with Destinie and she helped me work through decade old injuries from college sports. Her knowledge of kinesiology and physiology is *extensive* and she builds that into her workouts (I have learned so much!). She guided me through the process of relearning how to engage my core in a safe and strong way. She helped me build a strong enough foundation that I now get so much out of regular classes; more than I've ever gotten out of other group exercise classes. Even in a group, she and Keegan focus so strongly on personal needs, providing feedback and encouragement. While I miss in-person classes, I'm so thankful that I've found such incredible teachers that I'm able to access anywhere.

Working with Destinie has literally been life changing. Beyond exceptional technical expertise, she has incredible attention to detail and communicates instruction in a way that's easy to put into motion. Most importantly, she's truly invested in your success. Her coaching in-person and online has transformed my body's functionality, stability, and strength. As a former D1 athlete whose career was cut short due to a back injury, I had tried everything- from yoga to holistic medicine- and was weeks away from surgery. I was skeptical at the beginning of my pilates journey but the results speak for themselves- I haven't had a back spasm since I began working with Destinie!

PiC has reshaped my body, lifted my spirits, saved my mental health and improved my overall physical health by streaming classes & private lessons. They make it easier (Pilates is not easy) & more fun to do the work, from classical mat work as Joe intended :) to nuanced guidance on specific body mechanics. I love all the teachers at PiC! Everyone would be happier doing Pilates here!
