I recently attended an introductory session at Pilates of Old Town with Marie, the owner and one of the instructors, and was thoroughly impressed. The 1-on-1 format allowed for personalized instruction tailored to my experience level and goals. Marie’s depth of knowledge—both in technique and the history & evolution of Pilates technique —was evident throughout.
Marie took time to explain the physical and mental health benefits of Pilates and introduced me to the full range of studio equipment. The environment was welcoming, professional, and thoughtfully paced—ideal for both beginners and advanced clients seeking focused progression.
As a strength & balance coach, I have clients who highly recommend pilates as a complementary activity for improving flexibility, mobility, balance, and core control. This session gave me the opportunity to directly compare those experiences—and I can say with confidence that Pilates offers a distinct and deceptively challenging approach. Even for individuals with strong foundational strength and balance, the precision and control demanded by Pilates engages the body in a uniquely challenging way that can truly move the needle on improving balance and core strength.
If you're looking for a studio that values individual attention and holistic wellness, Pilates of Old Town is a standout. The expertise and coaching style of the team at this studio make it a rare find in the Tustin area.

I started coming here about a month or two ago and I’ve been really loving it! For years I’ve hated working out, and always found a way to accidentally injure myself while trying to do strength training. I decided to look into Pilates. I called in and spoke with the lovely owner, Marie. She listened to my goals, and personal limitations, and recommended me to her instructor, Emily. Emily has been amazing. She’s friendly, flexible with scheduling and a patient and vigilant coach. I really appreciate her checking in on where my body is/if there’s an area that’s sore or needs help and making the necessary modifications during my workout. She always makes sure my form is strong, and takes lots of precautions to make sure I don’t injure myself. The studio is clean, quiet and peaceful. I’ve loved it so much, and only wish I would’ve found this place and the people sooner. I can’t wait to continue my instruction here.

After a crazy major abdominal surgery and reconstruction, followed by 7 months of cancer treatment, my body had taken a beating, and when I asked my fancy Beverly Hills surgeon what she recommended for recovery fitness, she said classical style Pilates…
It’s easy to find Pilates studios in Southern California, but finding someone close to home who works one-on-one in the classical style is a little trickier. Fortunately, I have Yelp and Google working in tandem and agreeing that Pilates of Old Town is a five-star studio that offers exactly what the doctor ordered!
I reached out to studio owner Marie via email and heard back from her almost immediately. She is a busy lady (that's what happens when you're top notch!), but I was so lucky to snag a recent opening in her weekly schedule and so began my journey...
When I started my weekly lessons three months ago, I could barely walk and was still struggling with daily living activities like dressing and housework. My muscles had atrophied and my joints were inflamed from chemo, radiation and lack of physical activity. However, each week, my range of motion and strength increased exponentially with very little else in terms of focused fitness activities. Just three months later, I'm strong and able to walk several miles without any pain or discomfort.
The craziest part of it is that I kind of hate most exercise activities, but when I am working out, Pilates doesn't really feel like exercise, despite the fantastic returns on my strength and flexibility building. It's like exercise for people who hate exercise (it might even be magic- haha)!!
Marie is so knowledgeable and experienced in Pilates and is a delightful coach. She's incredibly encouraging and caters each client's sessions especially to their physical needs and abilities. She not only focuses on the physical portion of the exercise, but on the brain-body connection. She is a truly a gem and outstanding in her field!
The pre-paid options are the best deal and bring your per-session price down. Pilates of Old Town also offers semi-private and group sessions if you prefer to work out with friends (and split the price a bit).
If you are looking for a Pilates studio, or if you're just looking for a type of physical activity to strengthen, tone, stretch and build endurance, I cannot recommend Marie and Pilates of Old Town enough! You will not be disappointed!!

When I found Pilates of Old Town nearly 3 years ago and called them, promptly getting a return call from the owner, Marie, I hit the jackpot! I was new to Pilates, but after 2 private sessions with Marie, I was hooked. The studio's location is convenient, and the environment is tidy, bright and uplifting. Most important, however, is Marie's Pilates knowledge, her professionalism/dedication to her business and her students, her consistent focus on form, her watchful eye to avoid injury, and commitment to her students' progress. She makes it "fun" to spend an hour twice per week improving my flexibility, strengthening my core and improving my overall fitness!

I have been going to old town Pilates for 6.5years, twice a week private with Marie. Marie is a wonderful, passionate and very experienced Pilates instructor. Every part of my body has gotten stronger and toned since I started going there. I have been working on classical Pilates on Gratz reformer for the past few years and I absolutely love this classical technique of Pilates exercise. Still challenging but I feel great sense of accomplishment at the end of every classes. Pilates has become very important part of my life throughout the years and I thank Marie and old town Pilates for that.

I have taken semi private lessons from Marie for 2 1/2 years. I love how Pilates has made my body stronger. I have better balance and posture as a result of these lessons. I was in an accident and Marie worked with me to restore my strength. I travel quite a bit. Marie goes the extra mile to accommodate my schedule. The studio is clean ,well maintained, and everyone is very friendly . I would highly recommend this studio to my friends and anyone who wants a stronger body.

My daughter is a dancer. We were referred to Marie by a physical therapist more than 10 years ago. Marie, being a former dancer herself, helped my daughter to be stronger and more limber. Subsequently, I started coming again after foot surgery about six months ago. With Marie's attentiveness, I have regained my strength and more. I cannot recommend another instructor more than Marie!

I love Pilates of Old Town! I began working with the owner, Marie, three years ago after a very extensive back surgery. She worked with me at my own pace and modified movements for me without ever sacrificing results. In the past I was always worried about injuring myself due to chronic back pain. Marie was the first person to really take the time to understand my physical concerns. Once we started working together I was able to quickly achieve my goals. She is so passionate about what she teaches and cares deeply for every client. Lastly, I love the cozy feel of the studio. I am so grateful for the amazing community of people I have met there over these past few years. If you're looking for results in a professional and friendly environment, than this is the place for you!

I can't speak highly enough about this Pilates studio. I have attended 3 hours of classes each week for about 4 years and have a strong body. Marie Schneider is the best, never allowing us to get bored by providing a variety of exercises and assistance if we need help. All of the instructors and students are great and I feel part of a community of likeminded people. If you are looking for a warm, friendly, welcoming place to strengthen your mind and body, you must try Pilates of Old Town. I love it!
