PinPoint Training is a boutique studio located in the Oakland hills. Our space is furnished with well thought out & state of the art equipment to suit every clients needs.
Some of the things our members think we shine brightest at are: Assisted Stretch Therapy, Personal Training, Small Group Classes, In-home Training, Online Training, & Nutritional Support.
We provide other services as well such as: virtual training, corporate wellness programs, & retreats. We would love to help you on your fitness journey!

Shakina McNeal's Pinpoint Training program in Oakland, Ca is a fantastic resource. Shakina is extremely knowledgeable, and grounded in a whole health approach to exercise, diet, and well-being. There are programs for individual training as well as group classes. There are a sauna, massage room, and cold plunge room. Shakina designed a home program for me, and now I am also doing a once a week exercise program with Polly Bates, who is an extremely knowledgeable trainer. I am 70 and she is really good working with me on core strength, flexibility, and balance, which are so important to me as I age.

Where do I start! The facility has every thing you need with the most updated equipment, sauna, steam and a cold plunge and much more.
Since I've joined PinPoint Training facility, personal trainer Shakina McNeal has shown me that at the age of 66 and after 12 major surgeries, you CAN get in shape and feel amazing. She has a way of not letting you give up with her constant encouraging and motivating personality. Her knowledge of nutrition and physical training has helped me start loosing weight and gain muscle after two recent hip replacements. She pays attention to the detail to maximize your workout.
And it doesn't stop there. The stretch session she does will work out every knot you have and make you feel brand new. When she says, trust the process is because she has done the homework to make sure the program she chooses it's right for you.

My experience at Pinpoint Training is and has been second to none. Since joining the training class in February 2025 my body has taken a better shape and posture, more muscle, more strength, more poise, less loose fat. Her routines are both challenging and rewarding, well balanced and well supervised. Also fun and inspiring working with my fellow classmates. We look forward to our workouts weekly. I’ve been doing group training twice a week for the past few months. I won’t be able to describe adequately how this has changed my physical and mental health for the better. I am retired, and was starting to feel “old.” No more. I’ve got better mobility, knee and back pain is greatly improved, and seeing muscle definition is downright exciting. The group of people in the class are fun and supportive - diverse ages and backgrounds make it fun. Just normal folks with normal bodies having fun and getting healthy. Can’t say enough about how helpful the community aspect is to sticking with it. Finally, the trainer and owner, Shakina, is a goddess. Her knowledge and expertise are the best I’ve ever encountered. Even though it’s a group class you feel like you’re having personal training. Her energy and positivity is infectious, and she’s incredibly kind and supportive. You gotta join us at Pinpoint.

Okay so I’m three months in and this has really been the best gym experience I could ask for. This is my first time working with a trainer and while I was initially really nervous to sign up, I’m so glad I took the leap!
Things I love about Pinpoint:
1. It feels like a private, luxurious experience and I actually look forward to going. It doesn’t smell like B.O., there are thoughtful touches throughout the space, the bathroom is cute and clean, and because it’s a small gym, I don’t have to worry about weird interactions with random people lurking. It’s hard to put a price on this kind of comfort.
2. People are really friendly and there’s a wide range of fitness levels. I find some gyms sort of intimidating where people all know what they’re doing already or have super fit bodies and I like that there’s all kinds of bodies at Pinpoint and we’re all just cheering each other along. It really feels like a non-judgmental space.
3. I specifically looked for a gym that had heavy weights and not just body weight exercises or Pilates/Yoga type classes. Everything I’m reading about women’s health and perimenopause recommends weight lifting and I love that I can access all the equipment with guidance and support. As a bonus Pinpoint also has spa features like sauna, cold plunge, and stretch services, it feels like way more than just a gym.
4. It’s super convenient to access, it’s right off of 13 and I can get in and out in an hour with a free private parking lot. I also like that it’s appointment/class based so there’s accountability for me showing up.
5. The trainers! Shakina has been such an awesome person to work with, she is super energetic, funny, and positive (without being annoying, ha) and this is coming from someone who usually prefers a quiet Lyft/Uber ride. I’m most impressed with all the small adjustments she makes when I’m doing an exercise, she notices small things like when I’m on the balls of my feet instead of being grounded in my heels, when my breathing isn’t in sync, and really customizes all of my workouts to focus on the areas where I am weak. I don’t think my body has ever been studied in this much detail! Beyond just the workouts we often end up talking about parenting, books we’ve read, restaurants we love, it’s honestly such a positive session every time — I usually am laughing half the time bc Shakina is hilarious. I always leave the gym in a great mood.
I feel so so much better in my body since I started training at Pinpoint, small things like just moving around throughout the day but I also feel stronger in being able to move heavy things. Stuff I used to wait to ask my husband to move (like the propane tank for our backyard grill! I actually thought maybe we got a tank that wasn’t full bc it felt so light lol) I’m finding I can just do it myself now. It’s super empowering and has been really good for my mental health knowing I’m investing in my long term health.
Anyway, I was on the fence for awhile, reading reviews online about different places and I’m really glad I just went ahead and signed up for a consultation. Hope this review helps someone out who was in my shoes.

I went to pinpoint after having my second daughter.
My pelvic floor was destroyed from 2 kids in two years.
I had 80lbs of baby weight to lose and needed to increase my core strength to carry my kids around. My back was killing and my confidence was shot.
After a month I felt myself come back to life. I made some great friends at the gym. Shakina is truly a blessing to me, my body and my soul.

I can’t say enough about PinPoint. In just 5 short months of two , thirty minute workouts per week I have transformed my body with the help of PinPoint’s amazing owner Shakina McNeil. She is compassionate, focused and knowledgeable about everything she does.
My workout is never boring as she changes things up daily and I fly right through it. I’ve never seen such fast results as I have at PinPoint.
If you’re looking for a great trainer at a fair and reasonable rate in Oakland, PinPoint is the only place to be. The pics posted are at 3 months, I have continued to see incredible results since. My daughter and I are both members and we both LOVE it here.
