I've been temporarily without a shower in my house. (Sucky landlord taking forever to fix the issue) I've been coming here for the past 2 months mainly to use the showers and the massage chairs. I see a lot of comments about the showers being nasty but any time I'm there, it's pretty clean. I see the occasional hair in the corners of the changing rooms but that can happen after one person using it. I usually bring a towel just for the floors. It is a public shower so you should come prepared with options if you are the type that can't handle a little dust and grime. My only complaint is, the handicap shower, the shower head holder has been broken for sometime now and it makes it a little harder to enjoy but I make it work. The shower curtains were pretty bad but recently changed.
I am a black card member and I've wanted to try out all of the different spa machines but 2 seem like they are always out of order and to use the red light therapy you have to have special goggles but no option to "rent" a pair and never in stock to buy any. The ones I have tried are amazing, especially the massage chair. I have bad back issues and it gets most of my bad areas. I fell asleep for about 20 minutes in one lol. Over all, this gym is great.

I really like Planet Fitness. Checking in is easy, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the restrooms are clean. It’s not fancy and it’s also not expensive. Sign up and cancelling are both an easy process.
I was intimidated initially by the idea of using the equipment without someone showing me how - I primarily use the ‘Express 30 min workout’ and there are images of how to use the equipment. Apparently they offer a ‘training session’ but you have to schedule an appt for it and I don’t know if they offer it at all locations. The people that workout at my gym seem really nice. And the ‘recovery center’ is my favorite!
The only thing I wish they had more of are trash cans - located in the work out areas. Sometimes people just throw their paper towels they use to wipe the equipment on the floor and if they had receptacles closer I would hope they would use them. Also if the app had a way to track my progress that would be the best.

The workers are nice and it’s like they know when to say hi to you and when to just let you walk past and the people who go there are nice to everyone is respectful and takes care of the machine and cleans it after they’re done sometimes things can get crowded at certain times and you’ll have to wait for the machine you like but it’s no big deal considering this gym is only $15 a month nothing negative to say about this place besides I wish it was four times as big

This location is never too busy especially because they have plenty of machines. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and willing to answer questions or help. The manager, Gene, is also always friendly and greets me with a smile. He was willing to take the time to help me troubleshoot the red room, and help me update my account. This is my favorite location of the few I’ve been to in the area.

I've been going here 6 days/week for the last 13 months and it is clean and well run.

Gene, the manager takes great pains to keep the gym clean and has his young staff vacuuming, dusting, refilling towel dispensers, wiping down machines, cleaning bathrooms, cleaning toilets, hosing out showers and more every day. He does all the these unpleasant jobs also, not asking the staff to do something he would not do - that is a good sign.

With over 9,000 check-in's a week, it is amazing how clean the place is. Those who think it is dirty must have been in the bathrooms in one of those short times between cleanings. Folks there admit that within 60 minutes of total clean bathroom, it can be a pigsty. I've seen it. Hair globs in the shower, empty shampoo bottles, pieces of bar soap, unknown disgusting gobs... and that is just the showers
.
Staff is always friendly and I know most of their names, but some never have name tags so I just wave.

The biggest problem is people sitting around on the equipment, sitting on the machines playing with their phones. 99% of the people there CAN NOT put their phones down. Not even for a minute! Typical scenario is down 1 set of exercise, spend 5 minutes texting, talking, watching social media, do another set, send 5 minutes playing with your phone and on and on. Amazing anyone gets any exercise done.

For $10/month, you cannot beat it. Go over to Curl Fitness next door and pay $55/month with a huge enrollment fee and see how you like it.

So far I like the gym! The staff is amazing friendly and polite. I wanted to thank Kamron. Kamron went above and beyond to deliver excellent customer service and overall making the gym experience and amazing one for my coworkers and I. Gym is very well maintained and from what I saw I constantly saw staff members walk through the gym to clean the facility as well as re rack the weights. I’ll be coming here whenever I’m in town! This is a smaller Plant Fitness with a interesting lay out. They also seem to have a high number of members. The gym size and number of members made it a tad hard to get on some of the equipment. Black card area was nice but a little claustrophobic for me. The CryoLounge is amazing. I wish my regular gym had one.

Gym definitely needs a bigger facility. All the reviews speak of a dirty bathroom and I have to agree along with another review about people sitting on one piece of equipment for a long length of time. During one of my visits to the gym the same individuals were on one piece of equipment, stacking multiple weights in front of their bench, and watching their phones more than working out. Staff should walk around, clean, and make sure patrons are not hoarding equipment and not just hang out behind the desk.

Update, I spoke with Gene the manager and he was great and very accommodating and understanding. Thank you planet fitness for your assistance in the manner.

Let me start off with this.... I do not like making bad reviews. However, this one is deserved. First off, the men's showers.... filthy, broken privacy curtains, broken locker cabinets, and toilet paper all over the floor. There was poop stuffed into the drain hole in one of the showers. Second, the people who come here are selfish, arrogant, and dirty. The people who "workout" at this gym spend 30+ mins on one machine with 20 mins of being on the phone. Seems like the staff really don't care. Third, not a single person, aside from some, clean their machines after use. I'd say about 8/10 just walked away. They'll grab their phones, their nasty, sweaty towels, and walk off to other stations. I gave this place enough chances, but today 03/17/25 was the last straw. I asked 4 people if they were done with their workout so I can get a quick set in, all 4 just plain out ignored me. These people don't understand to workout instead of playing with their thumbs. This one guy sat on the bench for 40 mins, did 2 reps, left to drink water, came back, sat down on it again for another 15 mins.... I asked if he was done.... " I still have 30 mins left"...... what a joke....

Go someone where else, these locals don't know to be considerate.

My husband just joined Planet Fitness and brought me as a guest. I don't usually like gyms and clubs, but this one was surprisingly welcoming. "No judgement zone" signs are everywhere, and unlike many gyms, I really felt that no one was judging me...for how my body looks, for the low settings I used on all the equipment, for how long I spent on a machine...any of it. Left feeling good, and already returned twice.

Bathrooms are nasty. Toilet seat and floor was covered in piss. Rain shower head makes avoiding the water flow uncomfortable when showering. Floor of showers were filthy. Been to a lot of PFs and for a 4.7 star place, you're really dropping the ball. I've been to PFs that the homeless regular and they were way cleaner.

It's a nice, friendly atmosphere, 30-minute workout gets you in and out, hydromassage beds are relaxing, lockers and showers are kept clean.
A suggestion: paper towels in the bathroom so people can clean up the counter after themselves, and rags for wiping down equipment would save on paper towels.

In the past, I would’ve given this place five stars for a Planet Fitness. But lately, over the last month, it really has gone downhill. The bathrooms have been disgusting for a month. Looks like toilets have not been cleaned in forever. Now today I show up and there are zero paper towels to sanitize the machines when you use them. You would think that right before Thanksgiving they would really be on top of things, knowing that we are going into the busiest season at the gym. Hope this place cleans itself up soon.

You walk through the doors and immediately are engulfed in the gyms energy. There are lines of treadmills, steppers, etc. situated in front of a wall of televisions, different channels including sports like football. There is an area to sit across from the front counter where staff is located and where you stop to check in. You can check in by either your phone number on file or using your phone if you’ve downloaded the PF app. The staff is helpful and will not hesitate to assist and explain any concern you have. I travel and have noticed different PF gyms have different equipment. For example, Visalia Ca., Tulare County has two buckets of fresh Tootsie Rolls at the front desk and to bypass those is near impossible. The SLO gym has a Relax Zone where you lay on equipment that warms your back, harmonious music to soothe your mind, aromatherapy of your choosing and a visual delight of landscapes in different countries at the touch of a button. In Arroyo Grande, there is a Cryotherapy lounge, you easily adjust to your needs. Icy cold or heat which helps with injuries and sore muscles. As in most gyms there’s hydrotherapy chairs and lounges but what sets Arroyo Grande apart is the well-thought design and paint that I saw as elite and upscale. The ladies locker room offers private dressing areas, many lockers, restrooms including a large handicapped stall, two stunning hand dryers, powerful enough to blow your hair back and stay stuck there. The handicapped shower has the strongest water pressure, mats and a chair. There are also benches to sit on in the dressing areas with mirrors to take photos of yourself that many women take advantage of. The tanning room is available to black card members and you must have safety eyewear to use the bed. The red light therapy stand up stall enhances your skin as well as soothes and nourishes. I enjoy this gym and appreciate the kindness of the staff as well as the friendliness of the members.

Very nice club. It has the same equipment as our home club. The difference is their relaxation area with the massage chair. They have hydro beds and a crystal lounge with hot and cold. Going to try the cryo lounge tomorrow. The hydro bed feels great but was handled to get out of...LOL. maybe it is just my age.

I recently signed up at Planet Fitness and have really enjoyed my experience so far. The gym is always clean and has plenty of machines, so I never have to wait. The atmosphere is really welcoming, and I feel comfortable working out at my own pace without any pressure.

PF Arroyo Grande is a great place to work out, especially for someone like me, who is not your typical gym-goer.

The facilities are clean and staff is great about refilling the cleaning products. Bathrooms are also clean and well-kept.

While this is a smaller gym in size, it has everything you need and I never have to wait for exercise equipment.

The Black Room extras are great as well. They are clean and well-kept. One of the deep-tissue chairs was not working well, I reported it and it was fixed within a few days.

I will also note that the 10-minute duration for the equipment is great. I visited a few branched in the Pasadena area and they only allow 5 minutes per machine/room. I was barely able to do the settings and the time was up! I came home to Arroyo Grande and was thankful for a 10-minute deep-tissue massage chair.

Finally, I want to compliment the staff at PF Arroyo Grande. I usually go at night and Tanner and Mike are always helpful and upbeat. When I came back to AG from Pasadena, they listened and helped me find resolution to my misgivings about what PF sold us. Amelia, one of the people who cleans the film during the days, is a ray of sunshine and made an impact on me the first time I met her. She was very positive and encouraging. I appreciate the staff at my home gym of Arroyo Grande.

I decided on a quick gym session, the gym at the hotel was small thankfully Planet Fitness was nearby and I have to say I was impressed! The gym was clean, cool, and well-maintained, making it a comfortable spot to get a workout in.
The young lady at the front desk was extremely friendly and welcoming, which set the tone for a positive visit. The equipment was modern and new, with plenty of options for cardio and strength training.
I arrived around 4:15 pm, which is peak time for most gyms. While it wasn't overly crowded initially, I could sense the gym starting to fill up as the evening went on. Thankfully, I had already completed 9 workouts by around 5:30 pm, so I was able to wrap up my session before it got too busy.
Overall, I'm pleased with my experience at Planet Fitness in Arroyo Grande. The atmosphere is inviting, the equipment is top-notch, and the staff is friendly. If you're in the area and looking for a reliable gym to get in a workout, I'd definitely recommend giving them a try!

I’ve never experienced harassment and bullying in a gym setting until tonight at this location. Long story short, I had another member harass me for a machine, call me names over it, and continue to yell at me in the middle of the gym with profanities and I brought my concerns to the front desk to which they told me there was nothing they can do to help and made no effort to remove this irate member or diffuse the situation. They instead sat back and watched. This gym and its employees made me feel so unsafe and humiliated and I will be cancelling membership and bringing my services to another gym. Please train your employees to care for the members more and watch out for their best interest and never put them in unsafe situations.

I am overweight and out of shape. I see on YouTube people filming themselves at other gyms and talking about people who did not consent to be filmed in the background. In Planet Fitness, I have not seen a single tripod or anyone filming. That makes me feel a lot more comfortable being the awkward new guy trying to improve myself.

For 10 bucks a month, I guess you get what you pay for. Was charged a late fee after they charged the wrong card, despite me being very specifically told my primary card was set as the payment method. The other card didn't go through, and rather than charging the correct card they first waited 15 days to charge me a late fee and THEN charged the right card. Meaning that they had the right card on file the entire time, and intentionally waited until it was late to actually charge it. Was then rudely told that I wasn't their problem, and nothing could be done. Then I was informed that the employee that had signed me up and entered the wrong card as primary payment was a CLEANER, not a front desk worker, as if that's somehow my fault.
Edit: General manager contacted me and the whole thing was taken care of remarkably easily. Not sure why the guy I spoke to at the gym itself was so unwilling to help, but management did make it right.

I have been a member for going on two years now and I love the experience. I go in, in the morning, and am always greeted by name by Sarah at the front desk, who has always been very courteous and helpful with any questions I've had. The rest of the staff are equally as friendly and are always attending to the facilities and keeping the place clean and comfortable.

I am a new member since the start of the year that did consider all health clubs in the area. The first impression was that of modern equipment, cleanliness and in observing the members I could see that they were enjoying coming into the club. The day I walked in to inquire about the club I particularly noticed the interactions between the members entering and leaving with the employees being so positive and interactive.

I am a regular morning member and typically see the same employees and members. I have a great appreciation for Sarah as she was quick to learn my name and do everything possible to get me registered so I can quickly begin my workouts. I am most likely an exception member that does not bring a cell phone to the workouts. Sarah is very friendly and more important genuine as is is easy to say “welcome” to everyone like many businesses try to do although her welcome approach comes with a smile, eye contact and enthusiasm. There are other employees that have some of those same qualities although I have not learned their names yet nor do they call me by name yet. Planet Fitness is also a great value from a price perspective although if all health clubs in my area were priced the same I would still be here. Love this place!

Every now and then someone with really phenomenal customer service skills comes along... Her name is Sarah at planet fitness! It took me a long time to get off the couch and walk into the gym without feeling intimidated... Worst gym I've ever dealt with. They continue to take late charges from my account for no reason and have the WORST front desk staff. The managers have always "just left" to avoid talking to customers. They are afraid to get on the phone to actually deal with issues and use their front desk staff as pawns. I would avoid doing business with these con men.

This gym has gone down hill these last few months and it's sad. The machines are dirty & showers are disgusting. I was shocked at the change this gym is experiencing. Filthy , get it together before corporate gets involved. Those showers are a health hazard and they don't care.
