The oceanside planet fitness it’s 100% better than this one. This location is smaller, old machines and can’t connect them to my Apple whatch, also the lockers are old and you need to bring your padlock and I saw a women half naked by the reflection of the mirror that looks directly into the showers, so if you like to take selfies at the gym, consider this point, ☹️

Each PF location is different. Luckily, this location has the factors that make it a more than decent location to be at. What stood out for this location is that their Stretch area was spacious, so you won't feel like you're cramped or intruding on others space.

I went here on a day pass. Crystal at the front desk was very helpful with getting me set up. I had a difficult time finding my pass and she resolved my issue super quick with an awesome attitude and a great smile. Customer service was on point. A great gym for a leg day for sure and I had a great workout.

This is one of the more well-maintained planet fitnesses I've been to and Ive been coming here pretty consistently for around 5 years. For all of the people complaining about the homeless they really have to be insufferable people who care too much. I've seen and spoken to homeless people who hang in or around the gym and have never had a problem. It's 100% a you problem. The staff members are quite friendly, especially Phyllis (I hope I got that right..?). Unfortunately it seems like only about half of the soap dispensers in the bathrooms have soap at any given moment -- it feels like I'm playing the Monty Hall problem everytime but that's probably the biggest problem here. Overall a clean gym with nice people. My only other suggestion is playing Gorillaz in the gym more often. To the people who complain about the homeless, I recommend finding other problems to worry about. Maybe you can even speak to them so you can learn to sympathize with other human beings who aren't exactly like you?? ;)

This location is just average compared to others in the area, like those in San Marcos and Oceanside. The equipment seems older, there aren't as many options, and it's not quite as nice. However, it's clean and gets the job done. One big plus is that it's now open 24/7 during the week.

I do have to mention that Nicole at the front desk is a shining star—she's always so friendly to everyone.

I left LA Fitness on Vista Way in Oside for this PF. I do like it better, the staff are friendlier and I like that you don’t have to wait for someone to get off their phone to use a machine. I also think there’s a younger high school/college crowd a LA Fitness which I don’t care for.
PF is cleaner than LA they just need to pay a little more attention to cleaning their machines. Members do a good job cleaning the equipment after they use compared to the crowd at LA. I never have to worry about getting on sweaty equipment at this location.
However they do not enforce their dress code for the women, I’ve seen many women in sports bras and boobs squeezing out of them.

I really wanted to like Planet Fitness, but this location completely missed the mark. To say it’s unhygienic is an understatement, I wouldn’t be surprised if people have gotten an infection of some sort from the machines and bathrooms they have. Bringing this up to the staff makes no difference so needless to say, I won’t be coming back.

As I was physically walking out of the door @ 8:02pm a short, older hispanic lady with short dark hair, held the door for me, I said "have a good night." Her response was, very rudely "we close at 8pm." The gentleman that was working with her was friendly, and told us to have a good night. He was ok with us being 2min "late" on leaving.

The 2hr parking limit is also kind of crazy.

Over and over this gym provides a bad experience. Between the lack of cleaning being done in the shower areas to the lack of common decency of the users. Have pointed out issues to staff and nothing seems to ever be done about it. This is a common theme it seems like across PFs in the area.

The dirtiest and under-maintained Planet Fitness that I’ve been to. Machines were dusty, one was broken and another had the foam padding sticking out, there was trash on the floor, shelf and in the showers in the bathroom, hand dryers weren’t working, the toilets were dirty, and there was gum on the floor. On top of the lack of cleanliness and maintenance, when I walked in the lady at the front desk was on (what looked like) her personal phone, she put it down to scan me in and as soon as I took a step away she was back on it. It just seems like all other Planet Fitnesses (that I’ve been to) pride themselves on customer service and cleanliness. I constantly see them maintaining the facilities and cleaning things. This location seems to be lacking in that commitment. I’m not one to normally write poor reviews but I was pretty disappointed with this location. Probably won’t come back here.

I was a former member of 24 Hour Fitness for 7 years, and I am very happy I decided to switch to Planet Fitness. There is a notable difference between this facility and the 24 Hour Fitness at the mall across the street. This Planet Fitness is clean, the staff are friendly and always available, and equipment is promptly fixed when it breaks! I also appreciate that there's a variety of news networks on the TVs, not just one channel.

This place is a mess. The lady at the front desk is condescending a very rude. I am a traveling nurse so I travel around and was looking for a club to use and also shower and I went into this particular one and after I got into the shower a young lady was on the phone. She wasn't having a conversation on a speaker phone but that's even against the rules she was on a Duo call, basically a video ( orabe only fans) call because I could hear her saying hey can you see all the hair on the floor isn't that gross lol, then she proceeded to talk about her homework in college and what she was going to do that weekend, she talked about how she looked so I know they were on a video call because I could hear a girl and a guy answering her back. After about 15 minutes I got a little scared and I called the front desk three times. 3x I got hung up on. So then I called my husband and my husband had to come talk to the lady at the front desk. She acted as if it was no big deal that the girl in the shower was recording/ video chatting. I'm mortified at this point because I'm not a pornstar I don't want to be a pornstar I'm a nurse and I'm also a Christian and I'm married woman so I don't play any of that weird stuff, after my husband talked to her she did nothing... nothing at all but argue with us. When the young lady finally decided to leave the shower and walk out I heard her whisper and quietly say to her that we were complaining and making a big deal of what she did. Absolutely unforgivable behavior.

My wife just came back from this place a few minutes ago since the front desk employee decided to enforce the guidelines. This would have been her third day coming into this gym alone solely with her guest pass and nobody had informed her anything prior. Tonight the guy asked if she came along with anybody and she replied no. How is it that it’s her third day coming into this gym and they are finally enforcing the guest pass rule? This company had sold me when they offered me the guest pass and to the knowledge they fed me when advertising the guest pass could go in without the owners check in. I’m not upset that they enforced the rules obviously, I’m upset that’s it’s been three days to this. It’s infuriated to see that the front desk employees don’t care to help change the primary location to this one so that we could change the membership into her name instead of mine. Employees are highly lacking something.

Thank you so much PF staff for keeping your customers safe. Yesterday I asked I guy who was playing his personal music way too loud on his phone in the Ab area to turn it down, which he did for a few seconds and then he blasted it back up again.
Everyone else had earbuds in but I had forgotten mine, either way his music was so loud and lewd that I couldn’t even hear the PF music.
I grabbed one staff then two and this Loud Guy started threatening to beat up everyone in the gym if he wasn’t left alone.
Thankfully PF staff asked him to leave and then escorted him out.

After going to this planet fitness for around two years, all I can say is good things I’ve never met more friendly, inviting and cool people like the staff at planet fitness managers Brock and Celeste have always been amazing since I’ve been going. I can’t remember a time I would go to the gym and not procrastinate my lifts and sit there and talk to either one of them for 30 minutes without fail. Every single employee who I have talked with and have always been incredible ,although a lot of people talk down on Planet Fitness I find it to be one of the most kept and clean gyms I’ve ever been to. As well as it never Being extremely busy I couldn’t have made a better decision to go here

I was banned after 1.5 years of being a club member at this gym location (and other locations the franchise owner operates) due to two complaints that I filed online months apart through the PF website against Nicole, a part--time employee who works on the weekends. Instead of club management (Brok & Celeste) having a discussion with Nicole about responding in a professional and courteous manner, I was told that my complaints were the same as harassment! To make matters worse, I am no longer eligible for a partial refund for the annual fee of $49 PF recently pulled from my bank account since Brok chose to ban my account rather than take the higher road of talking to and/or discipling Nicole!

It seems if you do not say what the gym management wants to hear or provide a 4 to 5 star review, your feedback is simply unwelcomed!

Secondly, as previous reviewers have commented the staff who work at the front desk can sometimes be absorbed by their personal cell phones that they fail to acknowledge or verbally welcome guests who are entering and leaving the gym. Additionally, the women's restroom and locker room can be visibly dirty and appear as if it's not regularly cleaned....and how can I forget the COLD morning showers that I absolutely won't be missing, LOL?!

Lastly, Brok shared with me that all club employees are CPR certified, but when an older club member required CPR the staff members on duty were too "nervous" to respond and do their job! This I find inexcusable! Fortunately, a gym member stepped in and provided CPR but, sadly, the the gym member requiring it did not survive.

I find staff here to be very warm and friendly. Gym is VERY CLEAN and Well Maintained. I'm also a member of 24 and EoS. This is my go to during the week because it's closer.
EoS on the weekend and 24 no more.
I got a lifetime membership at 24, 20 years ago so I'm not quitting that.
24 has gone way downhill since the pandemic. They aren't spending money on anything.
NEW HOURS Open 5 am Monday to 10 pm Friday. Sat & Sunday 6 am to 8 pm. EXTREMELY CLEAN LOCKER ROOM AND SHOWERS.
NICE GYM. Smaller, Longer Hours & Much Lower Cost than 24 Hour Fitness for basic membership. Black Card Membership includes Unlimited Tanning & Massage Chairs that 24 doesn't have.
EoS has massage chairs but they are not included in basic membership.
No Pool, Hot Tub, Sauna, Steam or Basketball.

I was a member of the Carlsbad location for 4 to 5 years. Over the years, the location has gone up and down as far as cleanliness goes. Sometimes, the female bathrooms/locker room was immaculate, and sometimes it looked like a junkyard. The equipment usually works, and all works, just need to be cleaned periodically. The staff has always been pretty nice over the years, even when I went during the early morning hours before the hours changed. That staff that sticks out the most to me, that were the nicest over the years were Ms. Patricia, Rafael, and Z ( I can't remember her name, but she works the morning shift currently).  As I left the gym, there was some rearranging of equipment. It works for now. I'm sure it will change again. If you ever need a relaxing moment, there are always hydromassage  chairs available and tanning beds to even out tans if needed.

This is not really a good place if want to work out in a serous way. Customers bring dogs into the training area and into the showers, in the locker room customers vape, cut each others hair. And get into fights if they think they need to control the situation. The morning showers have been cold the past three weeks.

Broken/missing towel hooks, dirty showers, hair in sinks, wet floors w no signs, dirty bathroom floors, leftover old products still in showers, broken outlets w wires exposed, missing (2) blow dryers, water all over counter tops, toothpaste on mirrors.. just a completely nasty bathroom.. w repairs not done. Water changes temp every time someone flushes.. 1 employee up front playing on her phone. 12 noon on a busy Saturday.. bathroom packed..club packed.. no one around to clean up. I drove here from Los Angeles, but this place was closed. I had to park at 1am and sleep, waiting for it to open at 5am to take a shower and go to work. However, I was woken up by a dog at 2am. Is the management here so disgusting now? It is meaningless for us to join this gym. Dogs are managing the gym. They don't allow travelers to stay, which has seriously affected my work. Who gave you the right to wake me up by force? I don't have the energy to go to work tomorrow. The gym has lost its meaning to me. There is no need to pay $25 per month for this service.i don't pay next month, who pay for such mean management services!Tear down your showers, only offer daytime gym service, kill all other members, only offer gym equipment for a few hours, sleep in the parking lot? Get lost! I have to change to other club next month.

My husband has been cancelling this account since 2020 and they always start randomly charging him again. He has called over and over again to cancel and they always say it’s cancelled and then he’s getting charged. We stopped using that card and he’s getting bounced check fees. Our bank is forcing fraud charges on anything from planet fitness now. Because it’s that it’s fraud. They’re scamming us when we live in a totally different country now. We have email proof saying it’s cancelled but still being charged.

These guys are scam artist! They won’t let you cancel your membership! They could have told me days ago! I can transfer my membership to the state I live in and then cancel! They expected me to come to the gym or send a letter via usps? USPS what is this 1990! I’ve called literally 200 times, no answer! I called the planet fitness in Colorado answered first ring! I’ve sent 4-5 emails no response! Those employees sit at the front desk all day picking their nose! They should have time to help members! I was a member for almost 2 years! If you sign up here! This is the worst PF I’ve ever been to. This is a gym full of entitled old people with misplaced frustration. Working out is supposed to make you happy but these gymgoers act so miserable and passive-aggressive. Read a review that was upset a person who was homeless was there charging their phone. It’s very indicative of the energy of the gym. Daytime staff is what you expect of PF but the two older women who work overnight are very nasty, rude, and judgmental. It’s unprofessional and cringy at that age. Do better PF. I travel for work. I’ve been to PFs all over the country. I’ve never witnessed anything like the PF on El Camino in Carlsbad.

Seriously I joined PF when they first started almost in SC. When the say "No Judgement". They mean it. You go and enjoy the machines and relax away from the world. If you are a gold card member like me you get all other items too. The staff is cool no hassles here!! With Gold you go to any location as you travel. It's the "Black Card" that's like Gold to me!!

Bathroom and showers and changing rooms needs to be mopped
On a regular. By the looks of them I can tell
They do the bare minimum. Old shower gel and hair in the showers . The doors of the changing room haven’t been wiped in how long. Old lotion and hair ties on the floor. It’s nasty . Take better care of this. The WHOLE GYM ! And NOT JUST THE FLOOR WHERE thee EQUIPMENT IS

Terribly filthy Club. The Bathrooms are never cleaned. The health department would Shut this place down due to how extremely dirty and unhygienic this club is. They are always out of toilet paper in the stalls. The sinks are persistently NOT working and people can NOT wash their hands. The soap dispensers don’t work. The staff is incredibly lazy and lack any willingness to work. None of the staff clean. They all like to stand at the front and play with their phone. None of them clean. The manager is very negligent and a big part of the problem.

I spent a week at the beach in Carlsbad for a mid-winter getaway, and wanted to get in at least one or two workouts to offset the restaurant meals and wine I'd been consuming, so it was great to see the large assortment of gyms in the area. I decided to check out this Planet Fitness after having seen many of their TV commercials over the years. I was pleasantly surprised by the space and excellent equipment. The person at the front desk was friendly and helpful, and the gym was very clean, well organized and free of charge for a 24hr first time visit! While it wasn't quite as expansive and equipment-heavy as my gym back home, I was more than satisfied and got a good workout. Would definitely go again. Tips for other newbie/visitors: I was there in the early afternoon on a weekday and there was zero-crowds (a problem at other gyms in the area, so I've heard). And for men, if you want to "fit in" here, it's tee-shirts with either sweatpants or loose fitting gym or track shorts. I'm glad, by chance, I didn't wear my normal tank top like I do at my regular gym, and opted for a cut-off tee instead--lest I set off the dreaded Lunk Alarm . . . LOL!

Yet another cancellation issue. I found out that despite canceling my membership, Planet Fitness had been billing me for over a year. They made their classic argument to decline a refund. I'm actually an online advertising specialist, so I might have been clicking on their ads, and remarking ads on social media. etc. Remarking campaign clicks are not expensive, nonetheless, it adds up over time. They do not do that many ads on Google, however, if you google 'Planet Fitness', they are bidding for that particular keyword. So each time one clicks on it, it costs them money. Who knows, I might have set myself a reminder to keep on clicking. However, concentrated clicks do not count if spread out using different devices and IPs. Let's see how much they are willing to lose.

Planet Fitness Gym is a good place to get in shape. The employees are friendly and helpful. The hydromassage beds are a great addition and all of the equipment works great. The only downside to this gym is that there are no barbells and the men's bathroom can be a bit dirty. Despite these minor drawbacks, the overall experience is still positive.

It a nice gym to work out in but that is all. The restrooms be nasty because of all of the local homeless coming in. If they could clean/check the restrooms & showers often, I’m sure it would help drastically. Just about a week or 2 ago there was a lady sleeping inside one of the 2 changing rooms. Then it’s another lady who be eating oatmeal in the restroom stales. Overall, I’ll be going to a different location.

It’s spacious and nicely laid out however the past few times I’ve come to work out the bathroom/locker room was nasty. Trash all over the floor, in the changing area, and in the showers. I could overlook it if the staff was busy with other members or cleaning on the floor but most times they’re at the desk sitting down and looking at their phones. I’ll probably go to another location for a while even though this is the closest one to my house.

My husband and I have been members with planet fitness for years now. We've used several locations in southern California, however the Carlsbad location
is the WORST by far.
A little about myself, I am fully disabled due to multiple back and neck injuries and cannot stand very long or maneuver in small spaces very well, which is why it is so critical that I have access to a handicap shower and changing room after my pt and workout.
The locker room/ shower area is always filthy, with standing water and no non-slip mats. On more than several occasions, there are homeless people sleeping, charging cell phones or just camping out in the changing stalls/ showers. When they actually do use the facilities, there is no regard for other people, or the mess they make.
On one occasion a homeless woman was dying her hair, in the changing stall, flinging red dye everywhere, when asked to leave by staff, she refused and continued to wait for her hair to develop. The smell of the chemicals were too much, and I left.

TODAY- there was a homeless woman in the handicapped shower stall- with her dog, camping out, not showering. When staff was notified, he laughed.
Next, God forbid you want a hot shower, before 5:30 in the morning- That's when the water heater timer will kick on. When staff was asked about this, they lie and say the water heater is broken and there's nothing they can do. However, in the past, a staff member has gone into the women's locker room to reset the water heater.
Lastly, the staff spends more time behind the counter on their phones, instead of ensuring a clean and safe environment for EVERYONE.
I've tried speaking with the manager, I've left my contact info many times, left messages, he is either not available or does not return phone calls. With all that being said, maybe I will get some kind of response/remedy after leaving a review here.

Personally having bank problems For a couple months and was very worried that I wasn't gonna be able to catch backup on my membership but Celeste the manager made everything very easy and smooth for me to balance everything out today and even let me pay a few months in advance with my limited payment options. Good gym. It’s set up differently than a bunch of the other ones we have been too. The machines seem out of order. BUT the free weight area is nice as well as the big windows let a ton of light in. What’s up with the shower situation? There are NO changing rooms and all of the hooks have been removed from the sides of the shower. Also no place to hang anything INSIDE the shower. It feels as if this gym is saying shower at your own risk… and then walk naked or in your towel to a very small locker room to dry off and get dressed.
