To be honest, I was really excited to work out at the gym today. It was my first time as I have just recently joined Planet Fitness. The equipment area was pretty clean, but I found the women’s locker room disappointing. First, every stall had toilet paper/toilet seat covers on the floor. I noticed there was some type of bodily fluid on the back of the stall I used once I had already sat down. The toilet barely flushed. The showers smell of mildew and had soap scum in them. There were people’s leftover belongings in the a couple of the showers. I stepped on a razor blade cover. I wiped the sink counters off because they were soaking wet, and looked like they hadn’t been wiped in a while. The floors had stuff stuck to it. One of the reasons I joined was because Planet Fitness is supposed to pride itself on cleanliness, but this location needs some assistance. I thought about telling the front desk person on the way out, but no one was there and I didn’t want to wait around. I just wanted to leave. I am hoping it improves or I will pull my membership before I am billed my initiation fee. 😢

Update...there still continues to be an issue with the cleanliness of this location. The stuff on the back wall mentioned before is still there. The showers still smell of mildew, there was menstrual blood on the floor and fecal matter smeared in the bowls. One of the workers happened to be in there. I showed her specifically the stuff of concern. She said she would tell the "janitor." I have no idea what that means. There was a treadmill not working next to me. I told the workers at the front. They also recognized that it was broken but never put a sign on it. I had to tell 4 people that tried to use it that it didn't work during my workout. Inside the middle stall there is an unidentified substance inside the toilet paper dispenser. I am not sure I want to know what it is! This situation is definitely frustrating.

On today's visit I noticed a second bicycle was out of service. The first one has been for a few weeks. There's like 6 so I guess it's ok but just fix them. It seems like more and more have signs on them. Maybe waiting on parts? I've seen the service person there recently...

And then they move a macking, no idea why, maybe a few feet or less, and it's not sitting right. So you are sitting there pushing weight over your head and the machine leans a little to one side, you brain goes oh crap, is it me or the machine, is it falling over, and its bothersome.

Today I noticed a lot of the TVs on some of the machines are staticy and some are almost unwatchable. The treadmill I was on had static that changed with every step, I'm guessing a loose antenna cable.

I've been a member of Planet Fitness for a few years, and one of the main reasons I enjoy visiting the Chatsworth location is how clean the restrooms and lockers are. I've been to the Encino and Northridge gyms, and I can tell you those restrooms and lockers are not as clean! Antonio does an excellent job of keeping the Chatsworth Planet Fitness spotless. He is friendly and always has a smile on his face. Chatsworth truly has a gem in Antonio!

This gym is fantastic. I really like Planet Fitness. This location is large. The parking is not great during busy hours. More people can fit in this gym than cars in parking lot. The equipment is clean. The staff is very friendly and that's a BIG plus. It does feel like a real judgment free zone. Last note: traffic on Mason is fast and smooth. If in a hurry, we can get their quickly and safely.

I have been coming to this location for a long time. The staff are great - always friendly and helpful. The equipment is clean and in good condition. The "crowd" is down to earth, generally friendly and there are not loads of people taking "influencer" videos like you see in other gyms. I also belong to 24hour fitness but come here much more often, it's convenient with easy parking and I can get in and out and back to my desk fast.

This Planet Fitness is a pretty good one. I did an early morning on a weekday. Facility was clean, locker room and shower area was clean. Hot water kicked in quickly and good water pressure (some PF’s shower water pressure and hot water diverters are bad).

The equipment was well maintained, only found one machine with a slight issue, the plastic was partially broken on a seat adjustment pin (express workout chest press maybe), a few weight stack stickers missing on several gyms but mechanically everything I used was working well.

After verifying the usage of a single black membership card, many individuals entered without issue, including a child and the allowed guest. They even used the equipment without experiencing any issues. In the past, when my children and I wanted to do the same thing due to previous issues within the same gym, a worker suggested adding the younger child as another guest, which was approved, allowing them entry and use of the facility. In the last instance when my youngest child wasn't an official guest, they didn't permit them to stay long in the lounge area or even use the restroom when the situation called for it. It was due to this issue that we had to leave.

Secondly, there has been an issue that has been occurring for some time, and I am unsure whether it is racism or discrimination. The same worker who refused to permit me to take both of my children into the gym last time did not allow me to take them in today at the same time, while the other workers did not have any problem with us entering all at once. This required my youngest child to wait in the lounge, which was not a problem this time. Although my eldest child had previously utilized the massage bed without issue and without being informed of their trial usage being a one-time thing, when they requested to access it today, under my black card membership, they were not permitted access. They were told their trial had ended and that they were no longer eligible to use it. Having used it on multiple occasions before, they were only prohibited from using it with the same worker. In this gym, many people were allowed to pass or do as they pleased under that specific worker, but when it's me, there's a problem. According to what I have heard, they refer to themselves as Kandy.

In our conversation, Kandy ignored two people who had walked by. She did not bother to inform them to scan their barcodes as they walked into the gym without confirming their memberships. Payment issues had also arisen, even when I attempted to cancel my membership and how much they charge, monthly to even annually.

So happy I signed up here, the staff is super friendly. I was offered a gym tour from a gentleman at the front desk which I found very helpful since I am new to the fitness journey. The manager Ashley helped set up a class with their fitness trainer which I found helpful due to my inexperience. The trainer helped me set a schedule to reach my fitness goals. I Couldn’t recommend this location more, the equipment is well maintained and the staff is so kind. Hands down the best planet fitness I’ve ever been to.

I had such a positive experience enrolling for a black card at the gym, thanks to the young woman with striking red and black hair who assisted me. She not only guided me through the enrollment process but also took the time to give me a detailed tour of the facilities, which was incredibly warm and educational as well. I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent maintenance of the gym, as it didn't have that typical musty smell that you often encounter in other gyms I've been to before. The overall atmosphere was inviting and refreshing, making me feel even more excited to start my fitness journey there.

My first day I wanted to try the rowing machine but had no clue how to use it the "very young Gal" who was working was clueless but very sweet together we figured it out. Also the foot strap was broken and I actually had to tell her how to fix it. Here's the thing it's a great Gym lots of machines - I ended up only being able to use the treadmill and free weights because of disability I have but it's a great gym for the price it's kept clean staff is generally friendly which is nice.

UPDATE: Discovered PF committed Credit Card Fraud by making several $38.02 unauthorized charges against a credit card I had used to make a $2.74 purchase nearly 6 months previously. These charges are currently under investigation by my credit card company. NEVER ASSOCIATE WITH THESE FRAUDSTERS!

ORIGINAL POST: I was a steady Black Card member for 2.5 years (attending 5-7 days/week), then I suffered a debilitating health issue that made gym use impossible during recovery. I continued paying dues for 4 months without using the gym. Not improved enough to return to a gym routine, I sought to suspend my membership until I was fully recuperated. The gym manager told me in person that I simply needed to send medical records to the gym via email. After reflection on HIPPA rules, I decided this wasn't a good practice and via the email provided by the manager, told her I wouldn't provide my medical records, so if she couldn't suspend my fees, just cancel my membership and please respond to confirm. She did not respond. I called the gym and left a message with staff for her to contact me. She never did. Because PF requires debit card ONLY direct withdrawals (something no other company I deal with requires), I called my bank to put a stop hold against further withdrawals. Then PF submitted a different biz name variation to bypass the bank's stop payment program. I called the bank, which reversed the charge and advised they can't stop payments automatically under this type scheme by the payee. I called PF and advised the situation, and a staff member (not the manager) apologized and said he canceled the membership over the phone. Then, 2-3 weeks later, I got a call from a 3rd party billing company (PF outsources billing), which informs me they don't have a record of cancelation. I call PF, and a staff member says I must cancel in person. I go the next day to see the manager who pulls up my original email and says I didn't provide any medical records. I indicate where the email advises for my membership to be canceled in that case. She says they don't cancel via email or phone. I asked why she didn't reply to my email with that info. She says she doesn't reply to emails. I asked her why she didn't call or text me regarding the issue or respond to calls left with staff. She doesn't do those things. I should have known that I had to physically come back in to cancel. Then I told her I wanted all charges canceled from the past two months following my original email. Her response was that I must dispute those with the bank. I will NEVER go to another PF or agree to any organization that requires direct withdrawals. Any reputable organization will accept credit cards as payment. These issues and (lack of) communication apply to the Chatsworth, CA location, and its general manager (Tylor) of the past 3 years.

I used to be a member at the commercial gym companies (24hr, LA Fitness, Anytime fitness etc) but it got to a point where it became way too crowded and I couldn’t justify the monthly pricing so I cancelled. Fast forward to now, I decided to get a membership here instead of using my apartments gym. First impressions are that it’s not very busy, there’s lots of space, and i always see the members and staff cleaning up/ wiping down equipment. People here complete their workouts and go on about their day. No random groups of people yelling/ hogging certain areas etc. The crowd meter on the app is also fairly accurate in case you wanted to check before coming in.

Definitely worth it for the price. Only downside is there are no barbells/ squat rack but I think thats how all PFs are. The anytime cancellation is a great reassurance in case I need to. For now I’m enjoying all the machines and equipment this location has.

I don’t know what’s going on, this brand of gym has been using dirty simple filtered water in all stores to provide unclean bath water to their customers, causing every pore of the customers’ bodies to be filled with athlete’s foot and all kinds of diseases. Bacteria, especially the rapid decline of vision and severe aging of facial skin immediately occurred. No amount of expensive skin care products can save this sudden facial disfigurement. This is a serious commercial personal safety violation that must be stopped by lawyers and huge fines imposed on the company. Nice and clean place to workout. Security is also alert at all time. I found the staff is very helpful and cooperative. Members are also cool.
