Went to inquire about a membership. They have many amenities. Tanning beds standing tanners, red light therapy for whole body with a vibration plate. They have hydro massage chairs recliners and beds. Any type of targeted machine for working out that you could think up. Wasn't terribly busy. There's isn't private work out space anywhere but there is showers in the locker rooms. Sizeable lockers. There is almost always a sale on memberships.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ 4 Stars – Great Gym, but Not Open 24 Hours

I really enjoy the Planet Fitness in Chico, California! The gym is very clean, quiet, and fresh, and it’s conveniently located right by the shopping mall, which makes it easy to stop by before or after shopping.

The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is calm, and the equipment is well-maintained. I’ve been to many Planet Fitness locations across the United States, but this one is definitely one of the nicest.

I gave it four out of five stars only because it’s not open 24 hours, which would make it even better. Other than that, I truly love this gym and highly recommend it to everyone in the Chico area! 💪

WORST planet fitness! They dont even fallow the 24/7 openness they be closing at 7pm and open at 7...... such bad hours and on a weekend!!! The restrooms are always dirty. Im currently looking into a new membership. Ive had planetfitness for years just moved here not long ago started using this location but they are the exception to rules.

I have been to Planet Fitness facilities all over the country and Chico by far has been my worst experience. Overcrowded, dated machines, bad layout for their demographic, machines in disrepair. 1 in particular has been missing a part for over a year. And now even further reduced hours. We are looking for another health club. Not worth coming anymore.

You can’t find a better deal that allows for an all inclusive membership for Fitness goals. The price range allows for all income levels and they even allow you to bring a friend with you as a visitor. I know very few gyms who promote fitness at this level. Wouldn't recommend this gym to anyone, couldn't cancel my membership over the phone. Had to go into location which wasnt not convenient since i dont live in the area anymore. Charged me $100 for my annual fees for a gym I haven't been into for over a year. Came in next day canceled both memberships I had they Wouldn't even give me a refund. Asked to speak to a manager and he told me "it will be a 30 min wait there in a meeting" terrible customer service.

I have been a member of this Planet Fitness for a few years now. There is one worker in particular who has been exceptional. Londyn is kind, considerate, and always greets with a smile. I often feel self conscious going in to workout as a plus size person we're not always made to feel welcome in some spaces. While Planet Fitness prides itself on being a no judgment zone there have been a few times I have felt judged, but I realise that can't be helped. I have sent a few emails about Londyn to the manager of Planet Fitness but I never hear back and I just want everyone to know what a gem she is. She's kind, attentive, supportive, and considerate. I enjoy seeing her when I go in. She encourages me to keep going back. Thank you Londyn for all you do to brighten the day of those around you.

The employees appear to be preoccupied with their phones, engaging in conversations, eating, and generally being unproductive. It is hardly surprising that the machines are in such a dirty state. One of the cheaper deals in town! Sticking to their motto, It's a truly judgment free zone. The staff is nice enough, but they aren't the best at greeting or saying goodbye...which isn't a deal breaker for me. As a common courtesy in the world of gyms, you're expected to whipe down the machine after you use it. There is a supply of paper towels and spray scattered throughout the gym to help with that.

Been a member for just over a year. Now, i have previously been a member at every single sports club in Chico at one time or another except the old Golds Gym. InMO, Chico Sports Club, NS Fitness, North Valley you name it. PF is hands down the best in Chico for my needs and wants when it comes to a gym.
1. No groups of unattended kids running around terrorizing and just abusing the facilities at all. InMotion is great, but they are also great for kids with all the programs/facilities. However, i do NOT want to be attempting to work out with a bunch of children running amuck. They're just being kids, but at a gym... they should just work out. At Planet Fitness, ZERO problems with unattended kids messing up my routine.
2. PRICE!!! I mean come on... 10 bucks? LOL you simply cannot beat that at any club anywhere. I pay for the Black Card upgrade and enjoy the HydroTherapy and Red Light Rooms nightly.
3. Overall, everyone from staff to other gym goers are all supportive and genuinely root each other on.
4. Facility is cleaned many times throughout the day, as well as all the machines are maintained and if broken, fixed immediately. Been to other places (NS) that machines.pools,everything that breaks, stays broken for a while.
5. Between me and my lady, we have lost over 150 pounds over the last 9 months. I'm usually ok at gyms, but my Lady is very self-conscious and it takes a lot for her to feel comfortable at a place like a gym. She doesn't realize how smokin hot she is, and constantly compares herself to the rest of the world. HOWEVER, she is so comfortable here. She works out, sweats, lifts weights, cardio, all of it and she lifts her weights right next to me and the other freeweight "Bouncer" types. That's solely due to the fact that Staff does their absolute best to keep the respect level up.
6. I got into it with a little twerpy supervisor type kid who was working one day. The issue was stupid (I wanted to use a 20 to buy water, they don't take 20's), but i was presenting an easy solution and he was having none of it. I can be a complete prick if im upset and this was no exception. To this day I am still irritated at him, however i respect him sticking to his guns and his company's policy. I rarely have someone stand up to me in a situation like that so he caught me wayyy off guard and i came at him even harder. He stayed calm and told me i had a choice, drop it or he can call police/security. I hesitated to give it a quick run through in my head. Debating whether this 1.00 bottle of water was worth losing my membership.... It wasn't and i relented. Little twerp stood his ground and gained my respect for sure. And he never held on to it and treated me like crap later. Treated me just like everyone else. So, as much as i am still holding on to this petty, immature issue, that's all me. He was mature, professional, anda good employee. I was just a crappy customer on that afternoon. LOL
Overall, i give Planet Fitness an A-. They have enough machines to combat busy times, their hours are perfect for almost all peoples schedules, and their prices are unbeatable. Only thing is probably give the bathrooms a once over more frequently, and my only big gripe which seems stupid , the 30 minuite workout.... I wish people wouldn't "Camp" at a machine. There's machines all over that you can sit on forever if you want. But in the 30 minute workout room, you gotta get off the machine andfollow the program as the signs clearly state. People completely ignore the signs and we are constantly giving dirty looks and talking lously about how irritating they're being. SO PF people who work there, pay attention to the Campers and go knock some heads.

Joined in January. Wish I'd known of them earlier. I'm 73 and so PF is free through Silver Sneakers. Even paying, $1 down and $10 a month! Can't beat it for a good weight workout, free or machine, and I follow with 35 min. of elliptical. If you need a pool or basketball court, this isn't the place. If you just want a good workout, great!

Its a typical planet fitness chain. A few times I was there it was packed to the brim but I cannot complain as it is so cheap. Its like cost of a subway sandwich to workout here for a month. You however do get what you pay for. Hours are more limited compared to other planet fitness locations due to it being in a Mall. Reception staff are extremely nice and the place is clean.

For the price, I am VERY impressed with what they have to offer, especially if you upgrade to their premium membership.

I have been a member of Chico Sports club which is still a great gym for more advanced gym goers, I have also been an member of Anytime fitness which feels similar to PF, but isn't very big and doesn't offer what the black card membership does at PF.

My choice will continue to be PF. Just my preference.

I have taken two memberships for almost half a year with Planet Fitness in Chico Ca. 1 for me and another for my 17 year old son due to my job I rarely go to the gym but my son does go and takes his 16 year old brother as a guest At first they made me sign the responsibility for them and hand over copies of their IDs and also a copy of my ID. When 1 month passed, the manager did not let my children in because according to her it was necessary for me to sign and bring the IDs again so I returned. home for them and returned to the gym and today, after almost half a year that my children go to the gym every afternoon, she once again denied them entry and my children returned home, I called the gym and they told me that she had just withdraw so I talked about the problem to the person who answered me on the phone and he asked me for my children's information and he says: everything is in order I don't understand why I don't let them in, we are Mexicans and now I'm already thinking that she is being racist, but tomorrow I will cancel the subscriptions because month after month they deduct the payment from my account and I don't think it's fair how that manager treats us.

Let me start by saying so far my experience with planet fitness has been great! It’s super affordable and the staff is great! It does get pretty busy but it’s still a pleasant experience. My only complaint is the staff is not trained to know about their tanning beds or red light therapy. I got pretty bad burns from the tanning bed. I asked the employee about times and all they told me is most people do 12 minutes. I followed that advice and got burned. I got out before the 12 minutes because I could feel it.

I’ve been coming to this PF for some time now and thought I’d leave an honest review. As some have stated, it can get packed but if you’ve ever been to a gym there are “peak” hours when there are more persons than other times. I come at a variety of times and mid mornings/afternoons seem to be the best time- for me. It is not too packed. You have the early birds around 4/5am who are trying to workout before work and those who are coming in around 5pm after work, this is completely normal for any gym I’ve been to. People are just trying to get their workout in. Sure, the facility is a smaller than some in Chico, but you can’t beat the price of $10 and if you want all the other things like the massage chairs/tanning you can upgrade to the Black Card. If you’re looking for an affordable alternative gym, I’m sure you’ll be able to get your workout in & meet your fitness goals. There are tons of different people here who are on different journeys, I’ve never felt uncomfortable by staff or other members. The staff members are friendly and it’s nice to see a familiar face when you start coming routinely. There’s plenty of parking and lots of spaces under the trees for some shade. The facility is mostly clean and there’s never been a time when cleaner/napkins were not filled. The women’s restroom is always spotless aside from people washing their hands and leaving a mess on the counter. My only complaint is that some of the treadmills are missing the cup holder piece so that’s a little frustrating, but most of them have them. Overall, I am happy to be a PF member!

I have been coming to this gym for some time now and I have never had a problem, I always enjoy the staff and the fast check in experience and the equipment is good most the time (sometimes out of order), but for the most part I love this gym. However, the reason for me low review is because of one of their newer staff, her name is “MIA”. She has such a negative attitude for no reason that she kills my mood almost as soon as I walk in the gym she never seems happy and I had asked her a question and she obviously didn’t know what she was talking about and she was highly condescending and very rude. After I had the encounter with her I heard her laughing to the other staff members which just made me uncomfortable for the time I was there and now I feel weird whenever she’s working. I also have never seen her away from the desk helping the others restocking paper towels etc. The only reason I put 2 stars for this experience rather than one is because of the other staff who show great customer service. I hope the other staff get recognition for how awesome, courteous, and friendly they are. As for her, she probably should reconsider what she wants to do if she doesn’t enjoy greeting people considering that’s one if not the main component of her job. I really hate being the “Karen”, but people don’t deserve to be treated that way, and if there are new comers to the gym who already are uneasy about coming, she is not going to make them feel any better. I hope her behavior will be addressed.

A black card is truly not unlimited here. They make you pay $5 after 10 check ins if you’re not set to their home club, even with black card status. I travel for a living and never had this issue with any club throughout the US. It’s clear they don’t care about their members working out and staying healthy, just about the money for this location.

It cost zero dollars to be kind and say excuse me or have a good workout but nope nothing ! overall the gym environment is good ! What a great place to go to exercise, relax, and unwind. I went in to check it out. The instructors went right to work on my exercise program outline and shared their knowledge on the machines, weights, and floor exercises that best fit my desire for core strengthening and not heavy muscle building.

I told them that I had fallen recently, explained my issues, and they went on to tell me that I should get a verbal clearance from my Dr. to be sure that the exercise plan slower paced workout would not harm me.

The gym is clean and the equipment is almost always in good working order here in Chico, CA. However it's a relatively new gym, so I'll have to re-assess this after a few more years. (I was a member of another gym in Chico, that I won't name, in which much of the equipment was often broken, and replacement equipment was not really commercial gym quality. It seemed that the owner was just letting the place fall apart while he collected substantial monthly dues.)

I'm very happy to have the 30-minute Express workout room here! I want to do a classic, circuit training workout, and the specific room set up for this is fantastic. The only downside is that a few clueless folks still wander in and essentially sit on the same machine for multiple sets - not really using it as intended. +1 to Planet Fitness for having signs that indicate proper/improper use, but perhaps the signs need to be larger or they need more of these policy signs?

So while the gym itself is reasonably, good, there are a couple of BIG strikes against it:

NEGATIVE #1: The advertised monthly rate is deceptive and misleading. You pay $10 per month PLUS an annual fee of $39; so your actual cost is $13.25 per month. (What's next? $1 per month with an annual fee of $147!?) A MUCH more honest rate description would be something like "$49 for your first month, then $10/month for the next 11 months".

This is still a reasonable price, but PF could be MUCH more clear about this.

NEGATIVE #2: The Chico, CA PF doesn't until 7am on Saturday/Sunday. I'm an early-workout kinda guy - I like to get my exercise done first thing in the morning, and early AM workouts just fit better with my weekend family schedule. If they would open by 6AM on Saturday, I'd bump my review up by 1/2 star, and if they would open on Saturday and Sunday by, say, 5 or 6AM, my rating would go up by a full star.
