Dumbest gym policy and annoying experience. I came to this gym because I’m traveling and working out here in Chula Vista . So I came in crocs and got kicked out. I’ve been here for about 2 weeks already and never been told anything . A warning would be fine and let me finish my workout but nope . As I was getting my things and putting it away they rushed me telling me to get out when I was looking for my keys . Never been kicked out of any gym for crocs. And I was working out at machine. No free weights around me to “hurt myself”

Hace una o dos semanas fui a esta locación, el gimnasio está bien, pero debo de recalcar que algunos empleados tienen pésimo servicio al cliente, más en específico la chica de ojos de color que estaba en mostrador el día que llegué, la muchacha tienen una manera muy ruda y tosca de dirigirse con las personas, después de mi rutina me acerqué con otra muchacha (porque no quería que me atendiera la otra) para preguntarle que cómo podía usar las maquinitas de masaje, al final me terminaron pasando con la misma del mostrador a que me atendiera, con una actitud despota y pedante me dijo que llenara unos datos en una pantalla, y al final me entregó unas monedas para la máquina, cuando me entregó las monedas, solo las puso de manera MUY brusca en el mostrador, no me dijo ni una sola palabra y se fue, toda mi vida me he dedicado a dar servicio al cliente, y la verdad quedó totalmente decepcionada de esta experiencia, ya que quería empezar a ir a esta locación, pero no me quedaron muchas ganas de volver, al regresar de las sillas de masajes me dirigía al baño a recoger mis cosas ya para irme, como los masajes están cercas de la entrada, pensó que apenas yo iba llegando y no había escaneado mi código,así que mientras yo caminaba me GRITÓ, y la verdad literalmente poco le faltó para tronarme los dedos, porque levantó la mano y con una voz supeeer pedante y (perdón por la palabra) mamonsisima, me dijo “ey ey, aquí”, (osea que escaneara mi código), a lo que yo le respondí que yo ya estaba aquí, y solo puso su jeta de “ahh”, me fui y al final con todo el coraje le tuve que pedir ayuda para abrir mi casillero, me ayudo y me di me mencionó que “una disculpa, no sabía que ya había entrado”, a pesar de haberse “disculpado”, yo ya haya estado en el gimnasio o no, su manera de hablar con la gente, dar servicio al cliente y resolver problemas, está por los suelos!!, muy decepcionada de este lugar!

It has been a pleasure to work out on this gym, my sons come to exercise as well. The only thing I would recommend is to prevent people from hogging weights and machines at times, they sit there for 20 minutes or more taking selfies and BS like that.

I read a lot of negative reviews, and I'm sure you're now doubting whether to go.

Let me tell you the truth, if you plan to go after 4PM then it's best you stay away or prepare mentally. If you plan to go in the morning or afternoon then this place is great.

The evening gets packed of people, and not the serious type of people that lift. It's mostly obnoxious groups that are on their phone or people that are just waiting to argue over a machine with you.

What they say about the bathroom and lockers is mostly true, hardly do the soap dispensers work and paper can be a struggle to get. Are there junkies, yes there might be here and then.

In the morning, it's different. Its way better, more people that have gym etiquette, cleaner bathrooms and machines. I've never had a problem with anyone besides one time when the male staff was taking forever to help me open a locker.

I went to THE GYM, AND 24/7, and let me tell you that if you know what you're doing then everything you need to grow muscle is at this gym even if it's seen as poor or for beginners.

I saw a review saying Caucasians aren't accepted or get bad looks. I thinks thats mostly because not a lot of Caucasians come here so when there is one it's surprising and people like to look because we're nosy. Not bad looks. (Keep in mind all of this is my experience going in the morning)

I really enjoy going to Planet. Since joining I have lost 10lbs of fat. I gained 5lbs of muscle. Compliment to Mrs Lola for her words of encouragement and the motivation makes me want to exercise today and more frequently . I personally think Mrs LoLa is the perfect motivator and role model for planet fitness. She is Stunning beautiful & in great shape and always willing to give a tip on your workout. Mrs Lola should be on the Poster for Planet Fitness across San Diego county. Hopefully upper management &the CEO will read this post.

I had a really disappointing experience at this location today involving both another member and a staff member named Pit.

Another gym member left her water bottle at a machine and was gone for more than five minutes. When I went to use it, she suddenly returned and rudely asked if I was “going to give her the machine.” I was caught off guard, since she hadn’t been there, and I assumed — like most people would — that the machine was free.

Apparently, at this location, leaving a water bottle counts as saving a machine, which is wild to me. I’ve never been to a gym where that’s considered acceptable.

She then involved a staff member, Pit, who immediately took her side without asking me anything or giving me a chance to explain. He told me I should “respect my elders,” which felt completely uncalled for and condescending. Respect should be mutual — especially when the other person was the one being loud, aggressive, and disrespectful first.

To top it off, this member kept talking trash about me loudly — even while on the phone — making sure I could hear every word. It was uncomfortable, unnecessary, and clearly meant to escalate the situation.

I came here to work out and mind my business — not to be disrespected by another member and dismissed by staff who can’t remain neutral or professional. If this is the kind of behavior that’s tolerated or encouraged here, I’ll be reconsidering my membership.

This gym often lacks soap and paper towels, but otherwise, clean. The crowd is obnoxious, often found taking selfies in the locker room (no fault of the gym). However, employees are often complicit and do not remind these patrons of no cameras in the locker room and just walk by when working in the locker room.

Disgusting business practices & forcing me to go back to only one location to take care of the account issues is horrible in itself, but to be told by the front desk staff that I used a different email to sign up so that’s why it “let me” & said “so you’re basically cheating the system” & did actual air quotes with attitude then show me it’s the same email, but because I used different bank account information that’s why it let me??

I signed up with the otay ranch location & it said I’m good to go, I go into the gym & front staff tells me they can’t let me into the gym due to an account in collections so ok, that’s weird but fine I’ll take care of it. Every month since then it’s been trying to bill me for a gym I can’t even use, then I have to come to broadway that was my old home gym before I left California & came back so someone can tell me I’m cheating a system & even if I pay the collection that came from Covid when they weren’t even open but kept billing us the day stay at home orders would lift, then close 3 days later cuz Covid, I still now have to pay the months behind at otay???!!!?!?! ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS BUSINESS PRACTICES!!! Do not go here to be reeled into what seems like a good deal & this is how they suck your bank account dry.

My only issue with this PF is sometimes it's a little dirty or needs restocking of the bottles of windex, paper rolls or the machines need to be cleaned; but that's usually because of customers, otherwise it's awesome! Wayyyy better than Chuze Fitness, that gym is so packed all the time. Although the summers are the wors times since there is so much people who crowd around machines or equipment, please let those people know to be more considerate. Otherwise, it's sweet!

Staff has attitude problem!!

There was a girl at the desk 06:30 PM 06/11/2025.

I had a question regarding billing. The information she gave me, did not sound right. I was sure she was wrong (Maybe she was new). I requested Manager. She got a little confused and said okay.

Pedro (Team member) came to me and asked me how can I help you? (He does not seem like a manager or neither did he introduce himself) so I read his badge that said team member.

I asked him. Are you manager? (In very normal tone), he got offended. Said the manager is on lunch break, come back after 30 minutes!

I told him, you don’t need to be rude. Can you please help me? He said I started being rude.

Finally, he was able to answer my question. He apologized for the misinformation the first girl provided.

Overall, the staff attitude needs to be improved.

Parking lot was big problem before. They got it fixed.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Gym is very clean. Has lots of machines and equipment. Even when busy it's still easy to find the things you need to get a good workout in. Locker system is also great and is in the locker rooms. Glass shower doors with privacy glass tent. Spacious and well equipped. I enjoy it every time I come here to work out. Highly recommend

Ive been a costumer since September 2024 till today and future days .. I come to the planet fitness by palomar (chulavista ,ca) .. I had come in different times of the day and everything it’s always clean & ready .. the employees are always kind and gentle they’re always willing to help and have a good attitude towards us in general .. Bathroom in terrible condition. Urine all over the floor. Showers missing doors. Equipment in the gym missing things like loops for the handles for the cable machines. I only used one cable machine. And it had different carabiner hooks on it that weren't as easy to use as what should have originally been on the machine. The massage chairs here are the OLD style. One was out of service.

Overall you can get your workout in, but this place needs some improvements.

white guy here and never felt uncomfortable at all because Im white lol. Not sure where thats coming from. Patrons and staff are all cool as far as I can tell. Ive never felt “stared at” or whatever due being white! The parking lot is horrible and the crowd outside the gym can be sketchy at times. I only use the locker room to pee and wash my hands so no comment on those. Biggest issue is the parking lot to me, the area is what it is.

Off palomar and Broadway, there were 4 ppl at the front desk who were not helpful, when more than one person had to constantly ask for toilet paper and the answer given was it was stocked, it's on its way, and or they sent someone to go purchase it. Restrooms are not always fully stocked, bring your own soap they are always either running out or don’t work, toilet paper is never or rarely available it’s been numerous times that it had happened to me that’s why I decided to post I always mentioned to the front desk today I got a chance to speak to the manager she just said this one girl steals them all the time. My advise check before you use them and also clean machine before using it I rarely see anyone doing it too, customer service not so great compare to other locations such as Euclid or National city , I drive from San Ysidro and sometimes I rather drive the extra miles to have a smooth workout

Do you like a hot, powerful shower after a hard workout? Then, do not come here. This place has always been packed after work. How clean is the gym? See the photos here for yourself. Hope your car is sprung for off-roading, because that's what you will need for the potholed parking lot. On the plus side, the staff smiles, is friendly, and are actually fit (unlike most other PFs) The equipment here usually works and there are a bank of T.V.s like 70% of the other PFs. The standout feature here, that is a rarity in hyper-woke P.F.s, is a real scale.

I can’t believe there are white folks in here crying because they’re not the majority. Also a lot of assumptions about people being “Mexican” just because they speak Spanish. There are lots of Spanish speaking countries in Latin America, look at a map once in a while.
There are homeless people in this area, not Planet Fitness’ fault. If you really care that much, write and speak to your government representatives in your area, congresspeople, your mayor, homelessness is everyone’s problem.
The gym is pretty big and I love the open space layout plus small workout rooms.

I came in to cancel my membership i thought everything was done and over i even ASKED THE LADY OVER AND OVER if my membership was cancelled I VERFIED SO MANY TIMES. i thought it was over NOPE! not even a hour after my next paycheck they took 54 dollars from me twice (thats why i canclled the first time for unncessacry and nonsense charges after paying the ten dollars as they to would charge me ten dollars almost every week never monthly so thats a scam). THIS WAS THERE MESS UP I CLEARY ASKED IF MY MEMBERSHIP WAS OVER. I went in asking for my money back and the manager said there was nothing they could do because it wasnt "there mistake" when clearly it was they said i had two memberships one regualr one and one plantimum mebership but how is that posisble when they said i wasnt eligible for the premium membership when i signed up! and even if that was the case why couldnt the lady who cancelled only one of my memberships see that. SO CLEARLY IT IS THERE MISTAKE. on my app only i can see my account shwoing one and as soon as i cancelled i couldnt even use the app it signed me out signaling my memberhip was over so please explain. My bank was no help either so i had to switch to a whole new card and whole new comapny wich was so annoying and something i wouldnt have to do in the first place. This gym also is always super dark inside and the machines are always broken or super slow. I never wanted to come here and dont get me started on how many tweakers there are around. Do yourself a service and go to the planet fitness in National city its way way better. SInce this happend to I complety stopped beliving planet fitness was a good gym, but there are good planet fitness out there but this one is trash sorry.

Pretty good gym, horrible customer service. Had to repeatedly call throughout the day. Answers from staff members ranged from, we’ll call you back in 20 min, please hold, and let me get the manager. Every time the call ended shortly afterwards. Overall it was frustrating, corporate handled the billing issue via their website support.

Very clean, friendly, and purple... haven't used the showers but they seem popular. Equipment works. Lots of pretty girls who I don't bother but im pretty sure they know they're torturing us. That's all :)

BEWARE OF THIS PLACE!!!! I opened an account in Feb 2020. Covid hit in March 2020. Everything in the world was shut down. It was announced that gyms couldn't charge customers anymore. I canceled my membership when I was able to contact someone. I believe that was August 2020. They said they would email me a cancelation receipt. But I was admitted into the hospital, so I never followed up. It was the furthest thing from my mind at that point!

My medical ordeal lasted 3 years. I had to learn to walk again. When I was finally cleared to work out again, I opened a new account at the same Planet Fitness location. I used the SAME phone number, address, and bank account! This was June 2022. I was notified by my bank that I was being billed twice a month. They also informed me about miscellaneous charges that occured from PF. When I called the corporate office, they told me it was a local matter. That I had to go to the location and resolve the issue of 1) The double billing, and 2) The fact that I had TWO accounts! WHY WOULD ONE PERSON NEED TWO GYM MEMBERSHIPS? Especially when I signed up for the more expensive plan, so that I could invite a friend??? (Both times!)

I couldn't reach the manager the first time. So I went back the following week. SHE was extremely nice and polite! She then canceled the original membership, and told me that the owner would contact me about a refund. But that never happened! So I went back and canceled the other membership.

Long stpry short... I have to file a lawsuit! I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO PLANET FITNESS! I can't say that ALL of them are shady, but THIS location is!!!!

Some things to improve upon: include sauna, open 24hrs, repave parking lot, and fix women's shower hooks. Other than that, the price is great.

Parking lot is terrible. Lots of pot holes. Over crowded parking lot and location. Restrooms are dirty. Showers are as well and water isn’t even warm. It’s below average .. ok.

Hi, all the workers are very nice and respectful. They are willing to help out anytime and make themselves available for any questions. One of the workers her name is Angie she is very informative and always keep herself busy working all over the place. She has always been really nice to me and all the people doing exercise. hopefully there could be more hard workers like Angie with an outstanding attitude in all planet fitness locations!
